Stephandeswardt:I respectfully disagree. In my opinion, what the Army needs to do is to invest heavily on HESCO barriers with stacks of three on top, sentries and patrols to give adequate situational awareness and of course area denial weapons like mines. A well protected pillbox on watch towers armed with HMG's would be cheaper and more reliable than Gatling guns. Trenches surrounding the base also need to be deeper and leave limited points of entry to create a bottleneck to attacking forces which will turn into an awesome killzone for motars and HMG's FOB's have to be built in relative proximity to each other and also fire bases so as to be able to render reinforcements and artillery fire support from a distance when a sister base is under attack. The key is a mutual defence arrangement.

That's literally what I pointed out. Stephandeswardt: |
I'm afraid Cameroon was not involved in that operation in any way. It was Nigeria, T'Chad and Niger. The MRAPs were Nigérian , Artillery was D-30 2A18 122mm Nigerian howitzers, ground troops Nigerian also and the Mi-8 helicopter T'chadian. Malkanory is in the T'Chad-Niger-Nigeria sector of the lake T'Chad hence the involvement of the national forces. The latest Nigerian-led MNJTF strategy on operation Yancin Tafki against ISWAP focuses heavily on cooperation. You can clearly see the MRAP with a Niger flag and the helicopter with a T'chadian TT- serial number. doziex:

NAF training special forces K9 units. It seems in collaboration with a South African private security company.

Henry240:Thanks for sharing. That's indeed the Igirigi. I remember when the exports happen a few years ago. It was off the books.

Another pre-delivery NAF AW-109 Power helo spotted. I have to say, the desert camo is really growing on me.

Another pre-delivery NAF AW-109 power helo spotted. This time in desert camo. This paint scheme is kinda growing on me.

Algerian1:Looks like an AK-630. It's a Soviet and Russian fully automatic naval close-in weapon system based on a six-barreled 30 mm rotary cannon. It is mounted in an enclosed automatic turret and directed by MR-123 radar
|
Looks to be one of the four Harbin Z-9 helicopters. |
Looks like Ambazonian separatists have shot down a military helo in Cameroon.

I don't understand some of the comments here. So clamping down on strippers and prostitute is now seen as attack on Christianity by "shariah" ![]() |
Henry240:As you mentioned, it's all about the available funds. NAF seems more interested in arming it's pre-existing fleets of EC-135's, Bell- 412's and AW-109's for operations in low threat environments like Zamfara and the Niger Delta while dedicating the heavier Mil- series helos for counter-insurgency in the North East. Also, remember that a total of 6 AW 109 Power helos were ordered so that should fill up some major operational cracks and free up demands of the Hinds for focus on the MNJTF theatre. |
Images from the documentary; You can see the AW-109 Power helos with their weapons load-out and also reactivation of the AW-101's seems to be in progress (the camo paint is an absolute disaster on those birds)

For anyone interested in knowing ISWAP's true numerical strength, order of battle and source of funds, I suggest reading this https://mobile.twitter.com/FulanNasrullah/status/1120631799225491456 |

Looks like another A-109 bit the dust. God these birds are shit!

oyinpr:I've always found it laughable how a black gentile in Nigeria would claim to identify with the toxic and inherently racist Zionist ideologies. This is like an aboriginal identifying with Nazism. Educate yourself brother. |
bidexiii:That's a Beretta ARX. If memory serves, it was being ordered for Prison Services and I think Immigration. I guess it's finding it way into military hands. |
jakeporeshenko:Awesome! You can see the brackets right above and below the door where the gun pods and rocket launchers go. However, isn't this supposed to come with a FLIR camera pod as well or they just weren't installed yet? |
Odunayaw:Absolutely. We just have to maintain the tempo this time around. Our strategy has always been to beat them back and then focus on containment for some reason, only for them to regain strength and hit back with a vengeance. Theatre command has to go in for the kill this time. It's now or never. |

Nigerian Army Troops of 22 Brigade repelled an ISWAP infiltration into Ngowm Village on Wednesday 6th March 2019, scores of terrorists killed. Military recovered are 2 Gun Trucks mounted with 12.7mm AA's 2 RPG Bombs and 5 AK47rifles. Additionally captured was a Galil ACE most likely looted from the Cameroonian BIR and almost certainly would have been used by an ISWAP commander. Nigerian Army defensive posture seems to have improved over the last few months around Lake T'chad with better base defences and fortifications.

Seems that NAF Regiment now uses Paramount Group Marauder MRAPs

The MNJF has just launched an offensive dubbed "Operation Yancin Tafki", which is Hausa for "Operation Lake Liberation/Freedom", highlighting the main focus of the mission; Lake T'chad general area (ISWAP). From all indications, this seems like a decapitation offensive against the group a TheChadian contingent has already arrived with the Nigérian and Cameroonian closing in. Video of the T'chadians crossing into Nigeria.

Glad to see a general MNJTF offensive strategy finally taking shape.
|
MNJTF seems geared up for a major offensive. A T-72, Scorpion LT's, a BMP-1 and a T'chadians LAV in the pics. T'chadians seem to have fully rejoined the war effort after the presidential visit and will hopefully cover the northern sector and neutralise ISWAP logistical bases within their borders and disrupt their supply lines while we take care of the rest. With the NAF now establishing a base in Diffa and also getting clearance to conduct interdiction missions in T'chad airspace, things will hopefully change turn around asap.
