TV/Movies / Re: Jagua: Do You Remember This Late Actor? by shedgoz(m): 6:43pm On Apr 17, 2023
You forgot to mention the fact that he eats flies. Probably it was acting, but most of his videos I watched, he always ate flies.

Icrave4u:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vaQU4Sph9pU

MY BELLE O, MY HEAD O!!! Do you still remember this Yoruba Actor called JAGUA?

Chief James Afolabi Afolayan MON, MFR popularly known as Jagua was born 4th July 1946 in Iludun-Oro kwara state Nigeria.

He managed on his own to finish secondary education but his journey into entertainment started when he was just 8years old in his paternal hometown Iludun-Oro where he formed the Iludun-Oro Jolly Mambo. It was a singing group.

The young Afolabi then go about adding spice to social gatherings by singing.. Yes he was a singer and a great dancer too.

He did this for some years until he met the doyen of Nigeria theatre, the iconic Hubert Ogunde.

James Afolabi learnt that Chief Ogunde and his group will be performing in Esie so he made plans to be there, saved up some money from selling bush meat so he could make it to the show.

On getting there he was intrigued by Chief Ogunde's musical rendition and decided he was going to move to Lagos to have chief train him in music.

James Afolabi whose family was mainly into buying and selling expressed his desire to go fully into music to his family and they never objected despite the fact that such professions was seen as mainly for the "never do well" in those days.

Few days after a family member brought young Afolabi to Lagos and they headed to Chief Ogunde's office and joined a very long queue of people wanting to join the group.

Eventually it was Afolabi Afolayan's turn to audition and though baba Ogunde thought he was very young, he also saw that he was very determined. He then handed daddy to his first wife saying " Gba omo e ni" ( take him, he is your child)

Afolabi said he never knew baba Ogungbe was also into acting. He said he admired his stage presence.

Afolabi said for him as a young person it was divine whenever baba graced the stage.

Afolabi Afolayan considers Baba Ogunde as a father and his first wife who took him in a mother.

He was with Chief Ogunde and family for 2years (1960-1962).

Afolabi Afolayan also trained under Akinsola Ogungbe before he teamed up with his friend Ishola Ogunsola aka Isho Pepper to form the Afolayan Ogunsola Theatre group in 1964.

Afolabi was the main singer and instrumentalist in the group while Ishola composed more of the stage performances.

The performances was rendered in Yoruba language.
Besides other productions, I remember they did "Iyawo alalubosa"together...back then, it was quite popular.

Besides music, 'Folabi( like his friends and family calls him)was known to be the fun guy at every gathering.

He just loves making people laugh and as time goes on he realizes he seem to be more interested in the comedy aspect of acting and went for it.

He met very young Elyzar Taylor a Sierraleonian who was still a student at the time.

It was Elyzar who gave him the stage name Jagua and advised him to act in pidgin English as that will cut across every tribe and make them more widely accessible.

Jagua also called Elyzar Grace on stage. That was how Jagua play Group was born.

They had their first major television show in 1968 with RKTV Kaduna.

Jagua and Grace got married in 1970. Grace was juggling marriage and the group while still in school.

With God by their side and love from friends and fans who we see as family, the Jagua brand became widely accepted.

Jagua comedy was in all the NTA stations, was in almost every Nigerian home.

It is devoid of vulgar languages...you don't have to send your children to bed because you want to watch Jagua...it is actually a family programme and many children look up to it.

Jagua comedy entertained and educated most of us via TV screens and live stage performances.

They were also involved in charity causes.

They entertained the less privileged for free, raised money to champion charitable causes, entertained our troops abroad (ECOMOG).

In the very early years of Nollywood, Jagua and his group made some home videos which was released in VHS cassettes but most of his works are with the NTA.

Jagua was recognised by the Nigerian government for his works hence his national honours.

As a father, he was a great father and friend.

The laughter never stops on stage.
He was the best. He died Oct 5th 2000.

23years on, we still hear his signature tune "my belle ooo my head o"

Exactly my point. Why Issue C of O for a land and later come back to demolish the building on It.

To build house for Nigeria no be small matter ooo, come still furnish the house.

This is just our exact story. The painful part is there was no prior notification.

This country is truly a lawless country.

zicoraads:
This country is a jungle. Lawlessness thrives here and the funniest part is you can hardly do anything about it.

Same thing happened to me late last year. A land I had been developing, a place I had spent a lot of money was demolished too. That the government wanted to build a nurse's quarters there. But the same government, through her agency, was issuing C of O's when people were buying lands there.

Although I heard it was earmarked for a nurse's station in the 70's. But the government knew people were building there for long, no one said anything. No one was warned. All of us didn't even know anything like that.

We've sued. The matter is in court but the truth is my mind is no longer there. I have forgotten about it and moved on. I am not optimistic that we will win a case against the government or even get them to pay.

I am still single and a young. The people I pitied the most were those who had families and complete houses.

Properties / Re: Our House Was Demolished In Kogi And There Will Be No Compensation by shedgoz(m): 9:54pm On Jun 20, 2022
Thanks for taking out time to research on this. The said house is not in Akpatega but just behind the Naval base. About 3 kilometers from Akpatega.

There was no prior notification from the said person's who came to bulldozed the buildings.

Though the bulldozing commenced from Akpatega all the way down to some of the houses they claimed were in the runway.

Anyways, If this project has been outlined before this time, why did the state government decide to sell the land to my Dad in 2015?

However, we have our C of O Issued to us and we will utilize every legal means possible to ensure we get justice for the trauma.

jabolo:

Is it located in Akpatega? If so, I had some time on my hands and carried out 5 minutes of internet search, reavling the following:

1. There was an airstrip in Akpatega. It became disused and it seems people encroached on the land ...

https://www.facebook.com/186649875250364/posts/this-is-idah-igala-land-aerodromeaerodrome-is-a-small-airport-the-one-in-igala-l/416516058930410/

But behold, the aerodrome became a farmland, area for quarrying, people's plots of land, mining and parking of sand/stones by tipper operators after his transition. Yes, a stone thrown into the market does not select the enemies from the friends, and so we are all affected. These illegal works continued there until the coming of Attah Idakwo Ameh Oboni. He asked them to stop immediately the day he visited the aerodrome in 2013. He made the whole areas to be cleared and leveled. Today, the situation of it is as in the picture above but do you know what, the Attah Igala and the federal govt have made a plan to revive it, and to have it upgraded to a standard airport very soon, a reliable source informed me.

2. The 2020 Budget approved by the National assembly contained approval for a project submitted by the Federal Ministry of Aviation to maintain the Idah Airstrip, to cost 150 million Naira.

https://yourbudgit.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/MINISTRY-OF-AVIATION.pdf
See Page 5, Item: ERGP31144151 MAINTENANCE OF IDAH AIRSTRIP

Putting (1) and (2) above together, you may not have a case. The airstrip has been encroached upon and the Federal Government is about to resuscitate it.

Apologies if your property is not in Akpatega. Good luck.

The land was sold to Individuals around that area by the State government.

The current Attah of Igala and his subjects are very much aware of this.

Currently my brother who stays in Europe has asked that I make a choice of car between a Lexus ES 350 2008 model or a Mercedes C300 2009 model.
I am confused at the moment as I don't know which to go for.

OP stop deceiving people here about Deeper Life mode of marriage. You are the one holding yourself not the church or the committee. I just attended a wedding of Deeper Life where the sister is about 22 year. I married in the church and I can boldly say that if you take a 100 samples of the marriages join in this country by churches it will be hard to get a higher sample of successful ones other than what we have in DCLM. The MC is to guide us as believers and not a stumbliy block like you are insinuating.
By God's grace and if not for the MC I would have married a disaster. I know this by hind sight.

Exactly my thought. He is just seeking for attention and seeking to tarnish the Image of the church. There are people who are far younger and getting married every month in the church.

The church will never discourage anyone from getting married to whom you love, the marriage committee only serves to guide and direct you. After all they won't be there when you are enjoying or regretting your marriage.

The gates of Hell will never prevail against the church of God.

Is it the church that makes you not to have relationship at 35? Are people not getting married in the said church. Are you just looking for attention here or what?

You would make sure underage boys (who have parents) get arrested and sue the school for negligence right

Would you take it to social media
That woman did the most foolish thing that came into her mind. When I saw the video, I knew it might turn into a lost case.

What she should have done is this :
She should have taken the case to the deeper life state HQ and also to Gbagada (directly to pastor kumuyi).

The church would be the one to take up the case on her behalf so that she can get real justice. Unfortunately, most of us didnt factor in the status of the accuseds' parents. We didnt think through on what may happen if one of them is well connected in this corrupt govt. Deeper life could have handled/prosecuted the accuseds and their parents themselves.

The way I see it, it would take a very special intervention by the church for her to get Justice. The accuseds' parents would try to use political might to take the case away from deeper life's hands and face her themselves. Infact, that is what they are doing from all indication.

Deeper Life has done the right thing, they have issued a statement notifying the general public of the suspension of the school principal and also commencement of investigations. They have also promosed to make public their findings.

One more thing , where is the Boy's Father in all these and how old is that boy by the way ??

Lets hear from the accused before we make conclusions.

Here is wisdom: Dont be too quick to take things to social media. U might end up looking like a Fool. We have only seen/heared the woman's side of the story, we havent heared the whole truth. Dont let emotions cloud your judgement.

Your submissions are great, but going to Gbagada to see the G.S isn't that easy. She could have taken it up with state overseer in Akwa Ibom state, who I believe will take drastic steps to curtail this issue, before it got escalated to this point

I don't know why most of you here ordinarily hate deeper life church. While I am not taking sides on this case, as It's a case of sexual molestation and punishment must be served, let's not forget that it could have happened in any boarding school owned by anyone, either private or missionary. The most important thing right now is that they need to tender a public apology to the parents and the culprits punished according to the laws of the land.

Truth be told, there is nothing wrong with the church.

Crime / Re: Hoodlums Attack Presidential Task Force At Tin Can Port (photos, Video) - Report by shedgoz(m): 11:10am On Nov 24, 2020
This is a very bias report from the Media. Whoever has put together this report, should really understand what's happening on that road.

Truth is the PTF was brought in by the Presidency to maintain law and order and also ensure the free flow traffic in and out of the Ports, the PTF members has turned that avenue and heavily milking truck owners.

The PTF charge as much as 200k per truck, before one truck is allowed access into the Ports, which is highly corrupt. I believe the Chairman of the PTF who is also our amiable Vice President and Pastor (Yemi Osibanjo) is not aware of all these extortions.

To the best of my understanding, these purported attacks were not staged by hoodlums, but rather by truck owners who have been negatively affected by these extortions.

All these extortions indirectly affects everyone of us, because when a trucker is charged that much to gain access into the Ports to load a container, the trucker inadvertently passes the buck to the importer, which causes inflation in goods and services and which is directly suffered by we the final consumers because the price in the market is inflated.

I remember the teacher asked us to mention the tenses in English language.

Several people raised their hands and were saying the tenses, then the teacher caught me talking to someone and asked me to mention one of the tenses.

Since they've mentioned all the tenses that I know, I just jejely said Future Continuous Tense. The whole class burst into laughter. I just had to bury my face in shame.

This testimony of yours is almost similar to mine own experience. This year has been the most challenging year of my life. I was out of employment between February to August. The longest period I've stayed at home after i graduated from school without any Income, directly or Indirectly. However, I got a mail from a company here in Lagos, to which I couldn't even remember when or how I applied. I proceeded to the Interview on the slated date, to which I tried my best and was sincerely hopeful of the outcome. At the end, I was called one week later to come for my employment letter, to which I accepted with joy.

What surprised me most was when I saw the amount on the employment letter. It was beyond my wildest imaginations. To me it was the biggest salary I've earned or will work for all my life. This is because at the venue of the Interview, I was asked of my salary expectation. I mentioned 100k but negotiated for 80k as the minimum. At the end, I was and i'm being paid 200k. This is and has been a major turnaround for me in this year.

I pray next year will be better for each and every one of us.
