Yeah, I wont advise anyone to learn to code anymore. The best skill for a Nigerian to learn now is farming especially with how the government is pumping money into the agricultural sector. You can pick up a lot of skills like weeding, planting, ploughing, tractor and okada riding alongside.

Good day everyone, I'm an aspiring app dev. I tried setting up android studio(flamingo) for my pc (hp elite book 840 G3). The whole process was going smoothly till I tried to set up the virtual device on the PC. During that process, I was required to install the android emulator hypervisor driver. When I ever I try to do that, I keep getting the android emulator hypervisor driver failed to update status error. Any help regarding this problem will be very much appreciated thanks.

Nigeria has a long way to go so sad. I saw some Nigeria 3d cartoon animators all the video on YouTube is less than 10 minutes because they don't have Nvidia or AMD GPU for rendering it to longer time frame like 1 to 2 hours+ .

Bro go to mechanic around if you don't have money to buy new gen, tell them to find you small gen, you will see for small money, put fuel in the gen for times like this, you fire the gen up. Don't put your hope in nepa even for one day especially when you have something serious to do.

I have been struggling with landing jobs on upwork and fortunately for me, I applied to one last night and the client replied back and we did interview and was given a quick test task to do which I did and sent to him, only to plug my laptop to charge so I could hop on the zoom call to finalise with the client, NEPA took light and not quite long, my laptop went off and neither do I have a smartphone I could have used for the call. I just checked back this morning after the so called NEPA brought back light and saw that the client has hired someone else, I really feel pained that after struggling to land a job and this particular one came but lost it because of NEPA. I will never forget this day and I am waiting for who will come and tell me to be a patriotic Nigeria. This country is a mess. Any country that can give 24/7 power supply is far better than Nigeria even if is Sudan. I feel pained!

Bros even for career development a second passport is very important. Imagine all this tech conferences. When you wan get visa, who go give you? A lot of recruitments go on in these conferences and you can't even attend with your Nigerian passport. Whereas if you were a citizen of another country, you would be building your network and connections there

I started as a game dev and 3d models + animator.

Actually I started with animation, before I moved to game dev with unity using the Java language...

It's was a tideos and amazing routine, untill I lost my job and source of livelyhood.

I later became so broke, I had to sell my lapi to invest in other biz...

That's how my game dev and etc ended..

I will be 40 on Oct 19 this year and I am scared the kind of life I have always desired may not be
achievable. Let me list these things that worries me so that you can probably advise me or assist me in achieving any of them.
1) By 40 I had wished I will be living in my house with cars in my garage
Current situation- I am a salary earner who eagerly waits for the salary to drop before my family can eat conveniently every month.
2)I love cars and driving. Was thinking of getting a good car for Uber business.
Current situation- I have not been able to gather enough money to buy a car for Uber or personal use.
3)Seeking greener pasture abroad.
Current situation- I have not been able to have enough disposable income to even get a passport to start with in the first place.

The issue I have progressing is that of enough data subscription to watch more tutorials.
5)Acquisition of at least Masters.
I have a passion for learning and self development but I struggled to have my HND with distinction. Gathering enough funds to start my masters program has been an uphill task.

I also suffer from Tinnitus but the difference is that mine is on only my right ear...when I am in a very quiet room my right ear keeps producing some sounds...that sometimes makes it hard for me to listen or hear an outside noise properly. This one ear deafness and strange sounds from d ear only happens when I am in a very quiet place or room. It’s been months i started experiencing it and it doesn’t seem like it will stop. I browsed the internet and I found no remedy to it..in fact the internet said it will later stop on it’s own.

The noise Na only u wey carry the ear dey hear and feel am...nobody can hear d annoying sound coming from that ear. It all started one evening in my room last year October till now the noise hasn’t stopped. I just pray it doesn’t become something too serious as that of OPs own. I hear very well with both ears outside but when in a very quiet room the sound starts on my right ear making hearing on that ear difficult. Hmmm

Don't portray crypto like that!! also, remember that a lot of Nigerians are still cashing out big from crypto and forex trading. The thing is learning it thoroughly, having knowledge about it before investing your money into it.

I have lost over $2,500 on Crypto. I beg you. It's a thing of luck. In a few minutes you can become the richest young man in the world, and in the couple of seconds, you are probably the poorest among your village dwellers. Your Greed knows no bound and this is where it will get you. Please I beg you.

Learn any Data associated roles if you will love it though: Data Analysis, Data Science, Data Engineering etc.


Take this advice from someone who has seen the in and out of Crypto for over 5 years. Crypto should be something for someone who is stinkingly rich not for someone trying to get their feet on the ground.

Who and who are poor in Nigeria? Wealth is different from income. So you're very mistaken, the average Nigerian at home is wealthier than the vast majority of Nigerians abroad. At home a Nigerians has dignity, freedom and equality. Nigerians abroad immediately lose their dignity.

Nigeria is good, everybody is enjoying. The only people suffering are those who don't know the way, those who choose to sleep in the midst of vast opportunity. Look how Lebanese, Indians, Americans are trooping into Nigeria every week and investing and making money. Go to Idumota, Computer Village and see trailer loads of DOLLARS moving through there every day. Is it not in Nigeria that Linda Ikeji and others are making millions every week?

Good house? How many Nigerians abroad own a house, is it not borrowed money they used and are suffering and crying to pay for it every month? In Nigeria you OWN your house, your car, your generator. Nobody disturbing you to pay bills and tax. That's an automatic advantage.

I'm telling the absolute truth and you know it. Nigeria is a beautiful country full of opportunity but the people are being deceived so they will migrate out, while those encouraging them stay back and enjoy the wealth. It's a very smart thing, when all the educated people run away, those left will have everything to themselves.

Nigerians must learn to think deeply and ignore those pushing them to leave their father land, their inheritance. The money is there in Nigeria. UK, USA and Canada and EU have maxed out in terms of economic growth. Nigeria has a huge market of young people brimming with opportunity. Open your eyes and stop missing out.

There is no enabling environment for young businesses to thrive. Many companies are folding up due to power supply. Go to those old industrial estates in Lagos and other states you will see what I am saying. Some business men and women come to deceive the people that they are doing well in business but behind the scenes alot of shady deals are going on. They just use their business to blindfold others. Government just need to create enabling environment. The youths are not being lazy at all because I once worked in a big company and I saw how hard working the youths are. Some will run both morning and afternoon shifts. At the end of the day the take home pay is next to nothing. To be honest life is very hard today we should not deceive ourselves. It's not easy coping with system.
If you want to learn skills, the person who will teach you skills will not be honest and they like maltreating those learning the skills from them. To many dishonesty going on. It's so sad. Some will post advdert online for people to contact them if they want to learn the skills and when you show interest the next is to tell you to buy materials and when you send the money for the materials they will block you. This country is upside down

Hi guys, it has been a while since I posted here. I have been busy focusing on my journey to become a better programmer. My focus is on the javascript ecosystem: Javascript, typescript, react, nextjs and nodejs: expressjs/nestjs. I have been working my ass off these pasts few weeks.

Last week my boyfriend decided to take a 'break' on our relationship cos he felt I am seeing someone else cos I don't call or visit or ask to go out as I previously used to. I tried explaining that coding is all I have been doing, but he didn't believe me.

It's not just my romantic relationship that is affected. Even my relationship with my friends and family is taking a hit. I rarely leave the house and i have taken a long break from social media. I don't even check my whatsapp status anymore. All I do is lock myself up in my house and code all day.

I am throwing an honest question to fellow programmers:

Is all my hardwork and sacrifice in vain?

Is my focus on the javascript ecosystem; both front and back end a wise decision, given the current market?

I am not just learning to be an average programmer, I want to be one of the best.

Will Chatgpt and the recent layoffs affect my aspiration to get a good job once I am done learning?
