Are we still talking about Mark and Tambuwal being "The North"? We should all be careful what we say on social media. Hope you guys read the part that says "Sources in the National Assembly said Jonathan had requested both Senate President David Mark, and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, to nominate two senators and two House members to represent the Federal legislature in the SNC. However, the source said, Mark and Tambuwal both turned down the request to nominate MPs to the conference insisting that, the National Assembly will not be a party to it." Where in the above bold comments says the North refused or where was it stated that they represent the whole North? They are just two individuals from the North representing their various constituencies; besides, they are heading the National Assembly and House of Rep respectively, of which the both them don't constitute the whole members of the two chambers. If they are required to nominate representatives and they decline, do we think they are doing it on their own volition? Is it not due process for them to discuss it in the house and agree before making their decisions know? Are all the members of the National Assembly and House of Reps Northerners? We are always quick to point fingers without logically thinking things through. If we as the people of Nigeria elected them to represent us, and we are open to the idea of the SNC (of which they are kicking against) instead of pointing accusing fingers, can't we - as the people who gave them the mandate to represent us - compel them to concede to the request? If we continue to play the blame game whenever there is a National issue, how do we intend to solve the problem at hand? Let's even assume the Northerner are our problem, my people, what is the way forward? |
akpomeme: How would you rightly caption it? Tambuwal and Mark are northern elements and they don't want snc! How would you put it?Ilugunboy is right, the subject is not properly captioned. Both of them do not represent the whole North, they are heads to two different chambers "representing" the people of Nigeria. If they are kicking against the SNC and other members of their various chambers are keeping quite over the issue, then it can be presumed that they all are in agreement (for obvious selfish reasons if I may say). Please, before you kick up further ethnic dust here, that will definitely hurts some peoples eye, change the subject to some thing more appropriate. |

damosky12: The law is different from the principle. Friend, God said "bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse,......if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to recieve it." . My brothers in the faith, Malachi 3:10 isnt written by a Man. God did. Whether you deny it or not. It is God's principle of expanding you. Learn from Abraham (Hebrews 7:2). The issue is "can you trust God to His word?"Why not read Malachi 3 from the beginning? Why did you remove the portion that suits your argument and throw the rest way? Read that portion very well for you to understand what it is talking about. It was not a principle, it was just a rebuke to the children or Israel that had abandoned the law. The Bible was meant to be read to show you the way, not for you to listen to some people and repeat what they have told you. |

Hi. I am currently in Romania and I'll be staying for a while. I visited a shop before I left Nigeria to roam my line but the lady I spoke with just advised that I should ensure I have airtime on my phone that it will work. When I got to France, I could make and receive calls but, since I got to Campina (in Prahova County) Romania, I could only receive calls but can't make calls. What can I do? PS: I am connected via RO Cosmote. |
I'd rather you use the services of PSI Shipping. This is how it works: Buy from any website you like and use their Houston office address as your delivery address. Call/send them a mail as soon as the item ships, if you have a tracking number for the delivery, follow up with the movement of the item by tracking and ask them to confirm receipt asa tracking shows the item has been delivered. Once confirmed, they will proceed to ship down to Nigeria and give you and mail you their own tracking number so that you can know when your item gets to Nigeria. You have the option of paying at the point of collection or into their account and have them delivered the item to you designated house address in Nigeria. I have been using them to ship down my baby's stuff I buy off Amazon and Ebay since January and they have never disappointed me. Visit their site on www.psishipping.com for their contact information and email addresses. If you have any questions or require any clarifications, I'll be glad to help. ![]() |
I was just reading a post about drinking wine or otherwise and I wanted to post a comment by quoting Deu. 14: 26, which my father has always been quoting to justify his drinking, but I decided to read from the beginning to fully understand what the bible meant when it mentioned buying alcohol/strong drink, lo and behold, it was all about tithe! Deu. 14: 22-29 (New Living Translation) The Giving of Tithes 22 “You must set aside a tithe of your crops— one-tenth of all the crops you harvest each year. 23 Bring this tithe to the designated place of worship—the place the LORD your God chooses for his name to be honored—and eat it there in his presence. This applies to your tithes of grain, new wine, olive oil, and the firstborn males of your flocks and herds. Doing this will teach you always to fear the LORD your God. 24 “Now when the LORD your God blesses you with a good harvest, the place of worship he chooses for his name to be honored might be too far for you to bring the tithe. 25 If so, you may sell the tithe portion of your crops and herds, put the money in a pouch, and go to the place the LORD your God has chosen. 26 When you arrive, you may use the money to buy any kind of food you want— cattle, sheep, goats, wine, or other alcoholic drink. Then feast there in the presence of the LORD your God and celebrate with your household. 27 And do not neglect the Levites in your town, for they will receive no allotment of land among you. 28 “At the end of every third year, bring the entire tithe of that year’s harvest and store it in the nearest town. 29 Give it to the Levites, who will receive no allotment of land among you, as well as to the foreigners living among you, the orphans, and the widows in your towns, so they can eat and be satisfied. Then the LORD your God will bless you in all your work. * I tried sharing this with my wife and pointed out the following as what I picked from the above: -Tithes are meant for you and your household to eat and be merry before God in His presence as to glorify His name. -If the above scripture is to be adapted to the modern day, those of us that work for money are meant to use our tithe to organize a feast in the churches for ourselves and our household. -After every three years, our tithes are to be given to the church for them to arrange a feast for the Pastors/Priests (Levites) who are not supposed to do any other work(or have a source of livelihood) other than the work of God (of which we the congregation are supposed to assist them with their daily survival), the orphans, widows and strangers amongst our society. Of all the things I told her, the only thing she just mentioned was Malachi 3: 8-10; and again, I decided to read Malachi 3 to understand what it was saying. Mal. 3: 6-15 (New Living Translation) A Call To Repentance 6 “I am the LORD, and I do not change. That is why you descendants of Jacob are not already destroyed. 7 Ever since the days of your ancestors, you have scorned my decrees and failed to obey them. Now return to me, and I will return to you,” says the LORD of Heaven’s Armies. “But you ask, ‘How can we return when we have never gone away?’ 8 “Should people cheat God? Yet you have cheated me! “But you ask, ‘What do you mean? When did we ever cheat you?’ “You have cheated me of the tithes and offerings due to me. 9 You are under a curse, for your whole nation has been cheating me. 10 Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple. If you do,” says the LORD of Heaven’s Armies, “I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won’t have enough room to take it in! Try it! Put me to the test! 11 Your crops will be abundant, for I will guard them from insects and disease. a Your grapes will not fall from the vine before they are ripe,” says the LORD of Heaven’s Armies. 12 “Then all nations will call you blessed, for your land will be such a delight,” says the LORD of Heaven’s Armies. 13 “You have said terrible things about me,” says the LORD. “But you say, ‘What do you mean? What have we said against you?’ 14 “You have said, ‘What’s the use of serving God? What have we gained by obeying his commands or by trying to show the LORD of Heaven’s Armies that we are sorry for our sins? 15 From now on we will call the arrogant blessed. For those who do evil get rich, and those who dare God to punish them suffer no harm.’” *What have I picked from this portion: -God is simply asking the children of Israel (us if you will) to turn from our evil ways and do what is right. I might be wrong or there may be more to the scriptures I quoted above. Please, can anybody shed more light on the subject? PS: I no start this thread for people to insult or call each other names, neither do I expect you to abuse any pastor. Kindly generalize your comments and opinions, don't direct it to anybody. Thank you. |

bloggernaija: Tale of two link bridgeWhenever we make comments we should always try to be very objective. I live in Ashipa (which is the community where the bridge terminates at the Ayobo end) and I know how many times 'supposed' contractors LSG gave the contract to build the bridge properly have come to survey the area and this has been going on for 15years - since 1998 when the first bridge was built at the Solus Hotel axis of the Ojo-Iyana Oba Road - the wooden bridge shown here is the second of the three bridges built in the area by individuals which has in no little way helped to ease the stress of having to go and get tied down at gate bus stop and Ipaja. The only time they come is during election period because Alimosho is the biggest in terms of population and they tend to get landslide votes from the area for deceiving the populace. I know a lot of us staying in the area that pay our tax religiously, tax which was used to build the admiralty bridge (that I am not against); I have always been advocating for something I feel would be fair for all: Take a census of everybody paying tax in each local council and use, at least, 60% of tax being paid to engage in developmental programs in such area and see which areas will be more developed in terms of amount of tax being generated. |

Guys beware: Not all the green snake you see in my village (Okposi) is revered. The OP should have stated categorically that Aka is the one the people gives its space. My maternal uncle (now deceased) happened to be the one in charge of the shrine established for it in Ngbom Enu by the people of Okposi (and he is the last male in their lineage, so I don't know how the thing would be handled now) Anyway, folklores have it that Aka has always been around but the respect of the people grew for it when the white men invaded my village and Aka trooped out in it's hundreds and chased them out of the area. But like every other thing revered by people, there is a kind of spirituality associated with it, which makes the people insist it be given a burial similar to that of humans. So many religious people have tried killing it while damning the consequences and had had things happen to them: Some ran mad, others fell ill with unexplainable diseases; some who even killed it without mentioning it were tormented till spiritually till they confessed and the usual rites were performed. Some people even speak to it and it listens (I've witnessed it when one of my old aunt was warning it when it slid into our compound when we were around, she was warning it that if anything happens to it that it was on its own as we - the kids - don't know it is and the snake went away immediately) I'm not trying to scare anybody, neither am I saying the snake is anything of importance to me as an individual cos I don't believe it has anything to offer me, but like my mother (bless her soul) will always tell us, "Give onto Cesar what belongs to Cesar and give onto God what belongs to God. Stare clear of the snake and it will stay away from you" |
