Twin sisters believed to be Amsterdam's oldest prostitutes have retired after more than 50 years each in the sex trade.
Louise and Martine Fokkens, 70, have finally decided they are too old for the business after claiming to have slept with 355,000 men between them in a combined 100-year career.
Louise, a mother of four, has said her arthritis now makes some sexual positions 'too painful'.
And mother-of-three Martine admits she is finding it hard to attract new punters - except one elderly man who still comes for his weekly sado-maschism session.
She said: "I couldn't give him up. He's been coming to me for so long it's like going to church on a Sunday."
The pair were the subject of a documentary film last year called Meet the Fokkens, and have now written a book about their combined 100-years of sexual exploits called The Ladies of Amsterdam.

Martine added: "The legalisation of brothels in 2000 has not improved prostitutes' lives.
"There is no point working just for tax. That is why the girls are working from the internet and from home - you are less likely to be spotted by the taxman.
"It is better for the pimps and the foreigners, but not for the Dutch girls."
Martine and Louise said they now hoped to be able to live off their earnings from the book and film rights.

I don't know, you guys. We all may be eating our words once the holy child of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West is birthed into this world. Right now, we're all (yes, including me!) assuming that Kim is going to bank off of her pregnancy and her child, because, well, she's banked off of pretty much everything in her life thus far. But looks like we might be wrong. Word on the street is Kimye was already offered a "Brangelina-sized" payday for first pics of their baby. And they turned it down.

According to TMZ, the parents-to-be were offered $3 million from an overseas tabloid for photos of their baby, who, at this point, is probably the size of a tube of Chapstick. And they told the tabloid to beat it. In fact, supposedly Kim and Kanye have already had multiple million-dollar offers for photos of Baby Kimye, and they've turned down all of them.

Are they really going to stick to their guns and keep this baby's life private?

Or are they just holding out for more money?

I don't know, dudes -- as much as I can't help but think Kim's baby will make some sort of appearance on a tabloid cover, as well as in episodes of Keeping Up With the Kardashians (because that's what Kim does), thus far, the couple has been pretty vocal, and adamant, about keeping the child out of the spotlight. I/we definitely could be wrong.

It would be really cool if Kim and Kanye pulled a Beyonce and Jay-Z and just released a photo of their baby on their own website, so no one (including themselves) could cash in. Or if they pulled a Brangelina and did a cover and donated all the money they got to a charity. But I really don't see either of those scenarios happening.

I hope they do stick to their guns and shun all tabloids from getting a glimpse of their baby. Just to prove us all wrong. But who knows what will happen. Guess we're just going to have to sit tight and wait to see how this nail-biter turns out! Only six months to go!

I have just learnt from very credible and knowledgeable sources that the Council of State has been requested by the President to grant pardon to some convicts including Mr Diepreye Alamieseigha, the former Governor of Bayelsa State who was convicted for acts of corruption perpetrated while in office. One cannot put such unthinkable gambit beyond this government or our elite, knowing their lack of interest in waging any war against corruption, serious or otherwise. So it is better to act before the rumour becomes reality and we start licking our wounds as a people.

If the plan is indeed afoot, one can only advise the Council of State not to dare. If it dares, Nigerians will have no choice but declare their own war against the government and the state in general. Presidential pardon to those who were convicted, not of political offences but for dipping their dirty fingers in the common till, and pauperizing hardworking Nigerians in the process is nothing but jail break by the state. It will signal the end of the existing phony war against corruption. Unless the government wants to be remembered as the one that officially institutionalize corruption, then the most honourable thing for it to do is to withdraw the provocative and shameless proposal before the Council of State.

I can assure the President that if he succeeds in getting the Council of State to go along with him he will have us, Nigerians whose resources the convicts looted and personalized, to contend with. The government and its members will certainly live to regret the irresponsible decision. That is a promise. Civil society groups will do all in its power to show the whole world that those who claim to govern us are nothing but common crooks who deserve to be in jail. In my view it is better to fling open the gates of all our prisons and ask all the inmates to walk out into the warm embrace of their relatives than pardon those who force otherwise decent Nigerians to take to crime as a way of life. A word is enough for the wise.

Mom-to-be Karen McMartin doesn’t have to wait for a sonogram to get an idea of what her child is going to look like.

The pregnant woman can see an outline of her baby on her burgeoning belly. She discovered the print on her tummy when she was just 25-weeks pregnant and some colleagues at her hair salon were making jokes about her protruding belly button.

The British citizen explained to The Sun about her unique baby bump:

“I was in the staff room on a break. We were actually having a laugh at my belly button sticking out and checking for baby movement.

“Then Karen who owns the salon came in and said, ‘Oh my God, I can see a face.’ She took a picture and we’ve been showing it to folk ever since.”

Twenty-five year old McMartin, who already has a daughter Chloe, 2, with her husband David, added: “No one can believe how clear it is. You can see a nose, mouth and eyes -- even the cheeks.”

Her boss Karen Monan, 45, who is the owner of the Kazmark salon in Irvine, Ayrshire, said: “Karen was lying back and I was having a feel of her bump.

“Then she lifted her head up and all of a sudden the shape of her tummy changed -- and this face just appeared.”

What everyone is seeing is not actually the face of McMartin’s unborn child, but an illusion. The Sun spoke to medical expert Dr. Carol Cooper who explained that the “face” was actually a trick that was caused by her swollen belly button, an old bellybutton piercing, veins and stretch marks.

She added: “The paler area that forms the ‘face’ may well be the baby’s back.”

Illusion or not, it still makes for a pretty cool picture.

She is gone a year n 6months now but whenever I remember how she fusses around us all when we don't want to eat, it makes me miss her the more. What I miss most about her is her ability to see humor in every situation that presents its self and laugh even in the face of trying times. I so miss her laughter.

North Korea amplified its threatening rhetoric hours before a U.N. vote on new sweeping sanctions, vowing to launch a first-strike nuclear attack against the United States and threatening to engulf Washington in a "sea of fire."
An unidentified spokesman for Pyongyang's Foreign Ministry said the North will exercise its right for "a preemptive nuclear attack to destroy the strongholds of the aggressors" because Washington is pushing to start a nuclear war against the North.
At a mass rally in Pyongyang on Thursday, Army Gen. Kang Pyo Yong told the crowd that North Korea is ready to fire long-range nuclear-armed missiles at Washington.
"Intercontinental ballistic missiles and various other missiles, which have already set their striking targets, are now armed with lighter, smaller and diversified nuclear warheads and are placed on a standby status," Kang said. "When we shell (the missiles), Washington, which is the stronghold of evils, .... will be engulfed in a sea of fire."
Such inflammatory rhetoric is common from North Korea, and especially so in recent days. North Korea is angry over the possible sanctions and over upcoming U.S.-South Korean military drills. At a mass rally in Pyongyang on Thursday, tens of thousands of North Koreans protested the U.S.-South Korean war drills and sanctions.
The U.N. Security Council is set to impose a fourth round of sanctions against Pyongyang in a fresh attempt to rein in its nuclear and ballistic missile programs.
Russia's U.N. Ambassador Vitaly Churkin, the current council president, said the council would vote on the draft sanctions resolution Thursday morning.
The resolution was drafted by the United States and China, North Korea's closest ally. The council's agreement to put the resolution to a vote just 48 hours later signaled that it would almost certainly have the support of all 15 council members.
The statement by the North Korean Foreign Ministry spokesman was carried by the North's official Korean Central News Agency.
It accused the U.S. of leading efforts to slap sanctions on North Korea. The statement said the new sanctions would only advance the timing for North Korea to fulfill previous vows to take "powerful second and third countermeasures" against its enemies. It hasn't elaborated on those measures.
The statement said North Korea "strongly warns the U.N. Security Council not to make another big blunder like the one in the past when it earned the inveterate grudge of the Korean nation by acting as a war servant for the U.S. in 1950."
North Korea demanded the U.N. Security Council immediately dismantle the American-led U.N. Command that's based in Seoul and move to end the state of war that exists on the Korean Peninsula, which continues six decades after fighting stopped because an armistice, not a peace treaty, ended the war.
In anticipation of the resolution's adoption, North Korea earlier in the week threatened to cancel the 1953 cease-fire that ended the Korean War.
North Korean threats have become more common as tensions have escalated following a rocket launch by Pyongyang in December and its third nuclear test on Feb. 12. Both acts defied three Security Council resolutions that bar North Korea from testing or using nuclear or ballistic missile technology and from importing or exporting material for these programs.
U.S. U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice said the proposed resolution, to be voted on at 10 a.m. EST (1500 GMT), would impose some of the strongest sanctions ever ordered by the United Nations.
The final version of the draft resolution, released Wednesday, identified three individuals, one corporation and one organization that would be added to the U.N. sanctions list if the measure is approved.
The targets include top officials at a company that is the country's primary arms dealer and main exporter of ballistic missile-related equipment, and a national organization responsible for research and development of missiles and probably nuclear weapons.
The success of a new round of sanctions could depend on enforcement by China, where most of the companies and banks that North Korea is believed to work with are based.
The United States and other nations worry that North Korea's third nuclear test pushed it closer to its goal of gaining nuclear missiles that can reach the U.S. The international community has condemned the regime's nuclear and missile efforts as threats to regional security and a drain on the resources that could go to North Korea's largely destitute people.
The draft resolution condemns the latest nuclear test "in the strongest terms" for violating and flagrantly disregarding council resolutions, bans further ballistic missile launches, nuclear tests "or any other provocation," and demands that North Korea return to the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty. It also condemns all of North Korea's ongoing nuclear activities, including its uranium enrichment.
But the proposed resolution stresses the council's commitment "to a peaceful, diplomatic and political solution" and urged a resumption of six-party talks with the aim of denuclearizing the Korean Peninsula "in a peaceful manner."
The proposed resolution would make it significantly harder for North Korea to move around the funds it needs to carry out its illicit programs and strengthen existing sanctions and the inspection of suspect cargo bound to and from the country. It would also ban countries from exporting specific luxury goods to the North, including yachts, luxury automobiles, racing cars, and jewelry with semi-precious and precious stones and precious metals.
According to the draft, all countries would now be required to freeze financial transactions or services that could contribute to North Korea's nuclear or missile programs.
To get around financial sanctions, North Koreans have been carrying around large suitcases filled with cash to move illicit funds. The draft resolution expresses concern that these bulk cash transfers may be used to evade sanctions. It clarifies that the freeze on financial transactions and services that could violate sanctions applies to all cash transfers as well as the cash couriers.
The proposed resolution also bans all countries from providing public financial support for trade deals, such as granting export credits, guarantees or insurance, if the assistance could contribute to the North's nuclear or missile programs.
It includes what a senior diplomat called unprecedented new travel sanctions that would require countries to expel agents working for sanctioned North Korean companies.
The draft also requires states to inspect suspect cargo on their territory and prevent any vessel that refuses an inspection from entering their ports. And a new aviation measure calls on states to deny aircraft permission to take off, land or fly over their territory if illicit cargo is suspected to be aboard.

You all know him, he is a very nice guy and i am already writing a book about that part of my life. So i dont want to give you all the details now. The bottom line is i am happy and as far as i am concerned, i think this is the first time i am getting married. My husband loves coming home for my food. He doesnt really like eating outside, so he comes to eat Branama Kitchen., live in his kitchen.

HisRib: A Colleague and I were discussing this topic & she said that normally an engagement ring should amount up to 3 months worth of salary. So if the man makes $5, 000/month, it should be $15, 000. I agree with her, after all it's a ring a woman wears for the REST of her life. It has to be a ring she loves. Men these days are just too cheap. Whatever happened to the real men who take pride in making sure their women are always well taken care of. Anyways, my engagement ring must be bought from Tiffany & Co and it can't be less than $15, 000. Know your worth ladies.

I think I know what happened to the "men who take pride in making sure their women are always taken care of": They went in search of better jobs and since their women are not patient enough, they walked away.
I am very happy with my wife right now and our engagement ring cost me N75,000.00 (less than $500.00), which I had to bear even when I didn't have a job. Like say she dey wait for N1.5m engagement ring, she for still dey her papa house. Anyways, I got a better job (twice as much as I was earning when I was with IBPLC) the day after our wedding and we are happy.

mukina2: The chief press secretary to Abia state governor, Ugochukwu Emezue has described as untrue allegation by the former governor of the state, Uzor Kalu that chief TA Orji wants to revoke his degree certificate.
In a statement in Umuahia, Mr. Emezue stated that the former governor is not a graduate of Abia state university as investigations have revealed.

According to Mr. Emezue,there was a petition against the former governor alleging that he was not properly admitted into ABSU not to talk of graduating.
The petitioner claimed that Kalu armtwisted the school authorities to admit him while he was the governor following public outcry then that the state governor was not a graduate.
The petitioner also claimed that Kalu as the governor only came to school for two semesters.

Following this allegations, the senate set up a panel which found out that the transcript Kalu sent to ABSU from the university of Maiduguri did not bear the letter head of that institution.
