I'm a freelancer, I'm tired of buying fuel, fixing generator all the time, paying PHCN bills with erratic power supply. If the poles don't fall, then it's low current or meter will have issues. I'm ready to relocate to anywhere even if it's in a village provided it has stable power supply all year round and preferably not coming from PHCN.
I'm even willing to relocate to a neighboring African country with guaranteed power supply.

Kainji, in New-Bussa. We got 6 days of power supply, and 3 hours downtime every week back when I was serving in 2006/2007 and we don't pay for it. I don't know what it's like now o, but back then, it was surreal.

It is not just about getting Nigerians to link their NIN to their SIMs now but something else. I logged on to the portal (https://myportal.nimc.gov.ng/) this morning and saw some ridiculous things that only the Nigerian government is capable of attempting.

First, I was greeted with the picture below on the portal and I wondered why a National Commission tasked with regulating identity issues give me CREDITS (I have 30, according to my dashboard). Why would I need to purchase a SUBSCRIPTION from a government's portal; not just anyone but an IDENTITY COMMISSION PORTAL

As if that wasn't enough, I clicked through the subscription link only to find ridiculous tiers of subscriptions; from N100 to N1,000,000, all promising various degrees of credits. Is the government planning on charging Nigerians based on how their NIN QR codes or details are queried during verifications in banks, airports and in other places, particularly government establishments Why am I given 30 CREDITS if it doesn't matter or mean anything?

Not only that, but I also found out that there is a "PREMIUM NIN SLIP" section other than the "IMPROVED NIN SLIP". Although the "PREMIUM NIN SLIP" is currently unavailable, I am wondering why there is a class-play in the NIN slip.

The IMPROVED NIN costs N400 to download. However, I am somewhat convinced of what will likely play out.

1. The NIMC will discard the current slips and will most likely ask banks and other places where the ID is required to only honour the "IMPROVED NIN" or "PREMIUM NIN".
2. This will compel people to download for N400.
3. Say 50 million Nigerians pay N400 each to download the "IMPROVED NIN", this means the NIMC will be making N20 billion Naira from that alone. The number is a worst-case scenario since I anticipate that it will be mandated

MY QUESTIONS

1. Why is an identity commission bent on making money through the provision of NATIONAL IDs?
2. What is the purpose of the subscriptions its portal?
3. Why do Nigerians need NIMC CREDITS and why do we need to buy?
4. Why is there a PREMIUM NIN SLIP
5. Why do I need to pay N400 for a virtual card I will have to print and laminate on my own
6. Isn't it the duty of the Commission to provide Nigerians with FREE National IDs?
7. Who approved of this useless idea
8. Why do I have DEPENDENTS on my portal; implying I could share my subscriptions with them
9. Are the law-making arms of government aware of this daylight Oyenusi stunt? (Not like they are useful anyways but I am not sure there was any discussion on NIMC creating a money-making portal in the legislature.)
10. What is the endgame of government; to sap Nigerians further through insane anti-people policies as always and further create a class divide through the ID cards we carry around?

If it's just about the payment, I wouldn't mind, but having to pay and still not get what one pays for is annoying. I tried downloading the NIN from the portal yesterday, the payment went through successfully, but the download link did not pop up and I was requested to make another payment. If the download was the first, I would have thought the pop-up blocker was active, but it wasn't. I had downloaded few before then, so how in the world is one assured of value for money paid? How do we get these types of concerns resolved since no response is provided when emails I sent? The NIMC is just out to make money, and care less about issues the people that use their services might encounter.

I did it all.. got to the payment and was asked to pay #570.16, I made the payment, but 4hours after, it did not bring a page with download option out, it's bringing back the payment page again.. I sent email to them since, no respond after 4hours

Same thing happened to me today. After paying and downloading for some of my brothers, the last one we tried (with the same computers as the ones before that o) didn't pop up the download link. Reached out o them too and we are yet to get any feedback.

The user ID I see on my mobile keeps getting flagged as invalid, and I don't know why. But all the accounts I registered today worked and I was able to download the document for them (except for one which payment was successfully but we didn't get a download link for)

I'm a student in one of Nigeria's prominent public universities.

A girl decided to vie for admission in my school via the predigree programme but she had no accommodation. Because of the relationship between my parents and hers, I offered to take her in from January till now

I offered a roof over her head.

The first night she came, she slept on the floor and I wasn't okay with that, the following night, I told her she could have the bed, I vacated my bed and relegated myself to sleeping on the floor, we can't share same bed since she's neither my babe nor sister. And this sleeping routine has continued ever since then. The floor is my new bed

I gave her my spare key, uncensored access to my kitchen and everything within my legal occupancy.
Cut long story short, last week Tuesday she woke up, had her bath, ate then stepped out briefly, when she returned we were outta water. Tap water of course. She called my attention to it to which I remained calm. Meanwhile I hadn't eaten neither had I bathed. At noon, she came to me that she was hungry but couldn't cook due to unavailability of water, I then asked her if I am to fetch her water??!.

She said she was gonn take food stuff to her friend's place (upstairs) to cook.
I replied by asking how many of her friends had lacked water and brought food stuff to cook here??!


She got angry and took some money and left


That same Tuesday, I went to see Chelsea game, when I returned, I asked her if she cooked but she didn't dignify me with her attention talk more of a response.
I thought it was rude but considered it as one of the many tantrums of ladies

The following morning, she woke up, acted like I don't exist, couldn't greet... had her bathe and left. Returned, unlocked the door, walked in like I wasn't there, ate, left to her friend's place.

On Thursday she repeated the routine, I called her back when she was going out, I asked her if she considered me as her father, brother or boyfriend that she'd wake up and start throwing attitudes...
I made her understand that I am her benefactor.
Hardly did I finish before she left. She returned and continued in same path and that has continued till this very moment...

Last night she didn't sleep at home, when she returned in the morning, she unlocked the door with her spare, walked in, ate, brushed, dressed and walked out without a single word e come be like say I be ghost.

What I did, I changed the locks, took some stuff, sealed my door with strict instructions to the caretaker then moved to a friends place outside my lodge and I've been there ever since.

She has returned and has been calling my line but I've been ignoring...

Now, is my action too harsh or still in line??!

While you are at it, make sure to call her parent(s) and report the issue before she would get to them, cos if she does before you, there is no way you'd be seen to have done the right thing.

What if she's just doing it for the clout, since part of her complaint is that she has not been acknowledged? What if she grew up in an orphanage or that her father has since been dead and buried? I really don't get what people derive off all these online validation seeking stunt. The fact that you tattooed someone's image on your body (celebrity or not) says a lot about you; now seeking recognition for it is even worse!
