braine: ^^^I've not heard of an Imam with a private jet.
The Sultan of Sokoto was flown out in a private jet to UK on Sunday. Though they didn't mention the owner, he should count for one (at least he reps somehow) Meanwhile, the percentage attributed to them is way down there, so that shouldn't count for much.

Jokes EtcGroom Exposes Bride And Best Man During Wedding Reception by shevon(op): 7:56am On Jan 15, 2013
I got this from a friend but I don't know how true this is:

This is a true story about a recent wedding that took place in Lagos somewhere in Surulere.
This was a huge wedding with over 300 guests. After the wedding at the reception, the groom got up on stage and took the microphone to talk to the crowd. He said that he wanted to thank everyone for coming, many from long distances, to support them at their Wedding. He especially wanted to thank the bride’s and groom’s families for coming and to thank his new father-in- law for providing such a fabulous reception.

To thank everyone for coming and bringing gifts and everything, he said he wanted to give everyone a special gift from just him. Taped to the bottom of everyone’s chair (even the chairs of the wedding party) was a manila envelope. He said that was his gift to everyone, and told everyone to open their envelopes. Inside each manila envelope was an 8×10 picture of his best man having sex with the bride (He had gotten suspicious of the two of them an...d hired a private detective to trail them weeks prior to the wedding).

After he stood there and watched the people’s reactions for a couple of minutes, he turned to the Best man and said ”F— you!” he then turned to the bride and said ”F— you!” and then he turned to the dumbfounded crowd and said…..
”Thanks, I’m out of here.” He had the marriage annulled first thing that Monday morning.

While most of us would have broken off the engagement immediately after finding out about the affair, this guy goes through with it anyway as if nothing was wrong.
His revenge:
1) Making the bride’s parents pay over N620,000 for a 300 persons guest wedding and reception.
2) Letting everyone know exactly what did happen.
3) And best of all, trashing the bride’s and best man’s reputations in front of all of their friends, their parents, brothers, sisters, grandparents, nieces and nephews, etc.

Did the guy go too far?
CelebritiesPresidential Aide Denies Marrying Actress Nkiru Sylvanus by shevon(op): 6:42am On Jan 15, 2013
When I read the story online this morning I called
someone close to the actress to confirm and he
said the story was 100% false, so I left it alone.
Nkiru, according to the report, married the Senior
Special Assistant to the Vice President on Media
and Publicity, Mallam Umar Sani, as second wife
just a week after she was released by kidnappers.
The report also claimed it was Mallam Sani that
paid the N8million ransom money. Another false
report.
Mallam Umar Sani has reacted to the report, calling
it ridiculous and a figment of the writer’s
imagination.
“The report is very funny. How can you marry
somebody you have not seen for over three
months? The last time I saw her was in
September so how can a marriage take place
when the subject matters have not seen each
other? I have not married Nkiru Sylvanus and if
a wedding of such took place, people should be
able to name the place, date and time. It is not
true”. He told reporters at the Presidential Villa
in Abuja this evening..

RomanceRe: Can You Date Your Workmate? by shevon: 2:22pm On Jan 13, 2013
Yes. And I actually married her at the end of the day. But it all worked out for us cos the whole office (including my MD) where fully in support of our union. That doesn't necessarily mean it is acceptable and will work for anybody that wants to try it. Affair? Yeah, that might work. Date? It will be a wee difficult but one can pull it off if you guys can work out a plan B (just in case HR decides to pull the coy policy handbook trick on y'ol)
TravelDana Resumes Flight Operations Tomorrow (today Friday) by shevon(op): 8:34am On Jan 04, 2013
JANUARY 3, 2013 BY OYETUNJI ABIOYE

Dana Air will on Friday (tomorrow) resume flight operations, approximately seven months and one day after the airline was involved in a fatal crash in Lagos on June 3, leading to the death of 163 people.

The Head, Corporate Communications, Dana, Mr. Tony Usidamen, who confirmed the development on Wednesday, said the resumption came after necessary approval was received from the Federal Government.

“We are resuming operations on Friday. Our inaugural flight is 9:45am on Friday. Several dignitaries from aviation agencies and our brand ambassadors will be on board the flight,” Usidamen said.

Investigations by our correspondent revealed that the Federal Government had on Monday given its final approval for Dana Air to resume flight operations.

The approval, dated December 31, 2012, was contained in a letter to the Director-General, Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, Dr. Harold Demuren, and signed by the Minister of Aviation, Ms. Stella Oduah.

The letter, a copy of which was obtained by our correspondent, was, titled, ‘Release of Dana Air to return to flight operations.’

The letter read, “Your letter NCAA/DG/GM/115/vol/32 dated December 18, 2012, stating that NCAA has carried out recertification of Dana Air and the airline has completed phase five of Air Operators Certificate re-certification process, including conducting of proving and test flights and praying for release of Dana Air to return to flight operations refers.

“This letter is to convey my approval for the resumption of flight operations of Messrs Dana Air Limited with the following conditions: Messrs Dana Air should complete payment of compensations of all insurance obligations/claims within two months to the dependents of the victims of the crash, and the airline should abide by the safety regulations of the NCAA and strict surveillance by your organisation.”

Dana Air, which was involved in a fatal crash in Lagos on June 3, 2012, had its licence revoked by the government two days after.

In September, the government reinstated the licence. In early December, NCAA issued a new Air Operators Certificate to the airline after it completed the necessary recertification process.

Meanwhile, NCAA officials resumed work after the Christmas and New Year break with the special prayers for safe flights operations in and out of the Nigerian airspace from now on.

The prayer was led by the spokesman for the agency, Mr. Sam Adurogboye.

The Director, Human Resources and Administration, NCAA, Mr. Austin Amadi, who represented Demuren at the session, admonished the employees to be humble in their disposition.

He urged them to be more dedicated to work and be professional in the discharge of their duties.

I hope they have learnt from their mistakes for such not to repeat itself again. But I still think the best for the company is to rebrand outrightly. What is your take?

asog: Hello nairaland pals, just want to know your view on this subject. I was sitting beside a woman in a wedding service, her baby started crying uncontrollably, she dint know what else to do but to breastfeed the child instantly.

I had no issue with it at all, infact to me, that was a perfect move. What shocked me was when some wannabe babes behind started making some funny comments lk *jeeeezzzee*, *gross*. Funny enough the tube gowns that they were putting on was even exposing more breast tissue than the breastfeeding mama.

Please is it bad to breast feed in d publichuh
My dear, if I were you I would have simply turned to the babes and point it out to them that I'm more comfy with the woman feeding her baby than I would have been seating next to the with what they are wearing. I seriously do not see anything wrong in what the woman did. What would they have had her do in that instance? Leave the venue cos she wants to feed her baby?
I'd always encourage any woman to feed her child whenever the need arises but she should do it in a decent manner. (my 2cents)

PoliticsLord Lugard's Analysis Of Nigerians / Africans by shevon(op): 8:07am On Dec 13, 2012
""In character and temperament" wrote Lord Lugard, "the
typical African of this race-type is a happy,
thriftless, excitable person. Lacking in self control,
discipline, and foresight. Naturally courageous, and
naturally courteous and polite, full of personal vanity, with
little sense of veracity, fond of music and loving
weapons as an oriental loves jewelry. His thoughts are
concentrated on the events and feelings of the moment,
and he suffers little from the apprehension for the
future or grief for the past. His mind is far nearer to
the animal world than that of the European or
Asiatic, and exhibits something of the animals placidity
and want of desire to rise beyond the State he has
reached. Through the ages the African appears to have
evolved no organised religious creed, and though some
tribes appear to believe in a deity, the religious sense
seldom rises above pantheistic animalism and seems more
often to take the form of a vague dread of the
supernatural"

He lacks the power of organisation, and is
conspicuously deficient in the management and control alike of
men or business. He loves the display of power, but
fails to realise its responsibility ....he will work
hard with a less incentive than most races. He has the
encourage of the fighting animal -an instinct rather than
a moral virtue...... In brief, the virtues and defects
of this race-type are those of attractive children,
whose confidence when it is won is given ungrudgingly as
to an older and wiser superior and without
envy.......Perhaps the two traits which have impressed me as
those most characteristic of the African native are his
lack of apprehension and his ability to visualize the
future" Pg 70 of The Dual Mandate by F.D.Lugard 1926

I happen to stumble on this on www.naijarules.com and the commentator asked: If bellow speech is the mindset of Fredrick lugard, a European, suppose constructor of present day Nigeria, then, what could we have expected and do hope for in the future?

Please, I want to know your take on this.
