From my calculations, I deduced that Diamond Banks' $500M GDR should dilute the shares by about 3.6B. I'll appreciate it if anyone can validate this.

With this the adjusted PE for Diamond is about 21 while that of Access is around 20

your on point there, 500m$ is 60bn naira, divided by 17 will give exactly 3.6 bn shares. however, temmie10 pointed out something. these gdrs dont seem to ever catch up with the listed shares where it will be trading. i will sway towards access a bit more.

there doesnt seem to be any good buy at these current prices, im loving access, diamond, dangote sugar and nigerian german but the entry prices are a bit off. BETA GLASS looks good though. i might enter that.

With insurance, the story na "fighting temptations", sell today or tomoro or the next, but i don't see the stocks reverting to those miserable lows again.

No doubt, Diamond's figures are good.
The problem is that the gdrs which most likely are convetible might not keep pace with the nse listed units, there are so many foreign stocks listed on the lse and trading on the gtb gdr is currently so thin.
If diamond did a po which is more straightforward, i would expect the short term returns to be much higher than this path they have decided to thread.

you have two good points there.
on diamond, i wont pick up more yet, but its definitely a good buy. might wait till january to pick up more
on insurance, at 6 naira i don see much more appreciation for now. there are better stocks out there,

@ temmie10, diamond has 9bn shares and its PAT will be at least 12bn. thats 1.2eps, a gdr will add probably maximum 4bn shares. thats 0.9eps, so worst comes to worst, diamond should hit 25 naira, diamond and access are the most undervalued banking stocks presently.
also, if crusader hits 6 naira, im selling now. i believe these insurance coys. will still fall back a bit.

i want dangote sugar. but after that im torn between beta glass and longman(december year ending stocks). both have forward pes of 9 right now and they look juicy, im however worried as to if beta glass will still appreciate from 14 naira or if longman will still appreciate. im kinda confused. can you pls advise.

well let me help you out there. the offer is quite expensive. forward pe is 22 for 2008, some banks have better forward pes than that. maybe you should hold and buy later next year.

@ easimoni, you are right. the bulls are coming back in full force. nigerian german is now 19 naira and i havent enterd. do u think it will still come down a little cos at 19naira, there is not much room for gain again.

My brother the thing tire me OOOO. Wanted to BUY more this year @ 1.83 but no show!!!! Had some small unit that was bought at <N1.00 some 2/3 years ago. Collected 15k dividend many times plus a bonus of 1 for 1. They will definitely come out for their long over due PO but I will allow that to PASS!

diamond at 30 naira is a bit optimistic in my book. their forecast eps is 1.2, and lets not forget they are still planning a po.
maybe 25naira will be better.

i factored in a billion shares from the acquired companies and the eps dropped to 0.25, so it might just be a 5.50k stock come march. however, i completely agree it is a champion for 2008-2009.

gtbs gdrs will come good as from next year. they have only 13 billion shares and i expect profits to rise as from next year. will wait till next year to enter though

you see what i told you about costain they are applying for about 700 million shares. that will drastically reduce the eps and i dont see it making such a mad amount of profit to maintain its current eps.
bank phb or fcmb are looking like much better offers.
BTW, diamond banks results look pretty solid today, that might be another solid offer.
