@ easimoni, pumping ,yodi, im confused when it comes to projections.
for example UBA hit 9.1bn so thats 36bn full year abi.but at the same time it recorded growth of 104% over last year, if they hit last year PAT of 21bn, doesnt that mean it should hit 42 bn this year, so its eps is 4. and a forward pe of 12. you see what i mean if you apply this to PHB, they surpass their projections by far. abeg make una contribute.

invisible, people have diferent objectives, some feel the longterm approach will always come good, if you hold oceanic till next year, it shold be 50 by then. trading is always more lucrative but also more risky.

@ easimoni, i have decided to run a case study concerning technicsl analysis, will select three stocks with good fundamentals and three stocks with not so good fundamentals but are doing well in price change, will monitor their movement for 14 days and let you know what i find out.
fundamentally good stocks; dangote, diamond and access
not fundamental;intercont. c&i leasing, japaul.

@ yodiyokun, you said you will make something available to me. the material on how to illustrate rsi on a chart. can you pls paste it, it would be very helpful. cheers.

@ father of 2, your yoyo from fcmb to gtb and back to fcmb is a bit ambitious, i would just stick with FCMB till the end. it has better fundamentals than gtb(for now).

pls i have been meaning to ask you something, when is it appropriate to exit a stock. let me give you an example, i remember saying you bought oceanic at 5 naira and sold at 33 naira, thats very good, but why didnt you hold on to oceanic for another year? im sure with all proceeds from the ipo, they will acheive good growth. so what i mean is couldnt you have held on instead of exiting, when is it right to exit a stock.

@ samstone, as RSI approaches 30, it is favorable, as it approaches 70, it becomes unfavorable, it is overbought at this point and thus undervalued. what you can do is use a company as an example such as dangote sugar, calculate its rsi and i bet you its under 50.

1. Volumes don't figure into RSI. It's, however, used to calculate OBV.
2. RSI is a little confusing per Investopedia's definition. RS (not RSI) = (sum of closing prices on up days / 14) divided by (sum of closing prices on down days/14). RSI = 100 - 100/(1+RS)
The 14 is the number of trading days used to calc RSI and is the norm. It can be adjusted.
3. No. Tech analysis analyzes demand and supply over the short term. A stock may be undervalued but over supplied and that is a recipe for an interim price decline. I's also (I think) a useful tool to know when to get out.

I think buying a fundamentally sound stock that appears to be "oversold" and primed for a bull run is the best way to go.

gdr is not the problem with GTB, they are doing fine, they will hit that 21bn, i just know it,
thje gdr might affect their price for now but like easimoni will say, you cant keep a good stock down

i have somequestions concerning technical analysis :
1) you pasted the attachment for volumes, how does that help in calculating the RSI
2) i studied rsi in investopedia, there, it says rs= number of gains in x days/number of losses in x days
what does that mean.
3) can you use technical analysis to get an estimated forecast price like in fundamental analysis,
please help me out here.

FCMB is good, if it doesnt move , i will pick up more, very good fundamentals and should hit 25 naira soon.
GTB is still good, expect them to hit 21bn profit, just watch out for GTB

just thought id let you know i still have not received up my UBA certificate.
by the way, on costain, i think they plan that huge profit in 09 cause they already have jobs on ground, in construction, money is never paid on time, maybe that is what they are looking at, jobs should be completed by them thus increasing their bottom line, the offer should be good till then but i dont know after that!!!this sector is unpredictable unless you are in julius berger.
