Should this be in the Family section or Spiritual...em sorry...religious section? |
It's common belief that stage acting is more complex than acting on-screen which makes stage actors to be regarded as more talented than their on-screen counterparts, which is not true. They both have their technicalities and complexities. As for stage acting, the actors must have good grasp of their lines, good voice projection, a little bit of over dramatization to get the attention of the audience and must have perfected their roles to near perfection because there is no second take on stage! As for on-screen, actors are not saddled with the responsibility of having very good grasp of their lines without a second take and improvisation is allowed with the permission of the director. But overdramatization is not needed on-screen. Actors should give real actions and not 'overact' or should say their lines as real dialogue and not as 'shakespearean lines'. Also, most scenes in movies (particularly hollywood movies) are not shot sequentially as arranged in the final cut. This could be due to availability of funds or some particular places to be used as location. So, the on-screen actor is saddled with the responsibility of getting into his/her character at that moment of the plot, without necessarily comprehending what fully led to such emotional state while the stage actor flows with the story as it is presented on stage. For example, in the movie 'The Departed', the opening scene at the Police Academy was the scene shot last as at production. There may also be other technicalities I'm not aware of; nairalanders should pls contribute. |
OP, I must confess, you no get work. So, upon all the wahala wey dey for naija, na shakira's son's name arrangement be your own palaver? Abeg get a life! |
Does she have to pout her mouth like a duckling in every picshure? And what's the reason for the tacky blonde hairdo? Maybe it's me that's nt getting it. But she at least looks better than when she recently received a 'UN' ambassador nonsense. |
Who cares? Even if you like, 'drop' in love, 'fall out of love". Abeg, make we hear word! |
Jennifer lawrence or (if I was older) kate winslet. |

OMG! My thread made FP for the 2nd time this year! Please, dnt ask me how it affects the price of garri? Lol |
This issue came up in my school while chatting with some of my friends. Someone raised the question that if you were opportuned to come back to this world again and you found yourself about to enter for a course in the University, would you still study the same course you studied in your past life (which is now)? As for me, I would say YES! Though, I was ignorant then before I came into the University and had always wanted to be a doctor, but I'm happy with my course of study because of its technicality. If I came back to this world again, and found myself in Nigeria, and about to enter Obafemi Awolowo University again, I would study Agricultural Economics. I have no regrets. What about you? |
It's surely the females! They fit cram a whole textbook (though without getting its real understanding ) |
The picture of Agbani Darego up here does nt do her justice though leila looks more beautiful here...but the kind of Agbani's beauty is kinda rare. |
spiderstone: ARE U STILL MARRIED.....i.e.Is your marraige intact,if NO is the answer...u got no pedigree to come to the public and start blabbing bout your first experience with a neighbour that was giving you fried egg and yam, bread and sardine and eventually reap from where he was sowing.....BLOODY LIAR....Are you the one she was talking about? Why did you molest her? Rants of a fool! |
I'm waiting for the day the following topics would make the frontpage...so I would know when to vacate nairaland: 1 '2-time grammy winner, Tonto Dicke thanks her fans for their unending support'. 2 'Pictures of Snake soup seasoned with cat meat'. 3 Dbanj and Don jazzy come together after a long time to sing a gospel track titled: 'Ogo oluwa beer palour'. 4 '509 ways of how a man should treat a woman'... (Mschew!-Is that another bible?) 5 'Lagos State government arrests three dogs for 'roaming about' and would be charged to court to face the full wrath of the law'. 6 'Reasons Christians should not celebrate christmas and Pastors, who are mostly fake by the way shouldn't receive tithes? (Though, they should ensure they run charity organisations. Smh.) 7 'Why am I on nairaland?' |
Mine is definitely Lynette cos she passes thru many hard tyms and still survives....then susan...and oh gabrielle...lest I forget I add Bree! I love dem all! ![]() |
Actress: Liz Benson, Kate Henshaw, Bimbo Akintola, Funlola Aofiyebi (can't just pick one) Actor: Ramsey Noah, Justus Esiri, Gabriel Afolayan (though young, but he disappears into roles amazingly than most of the so-called experienced actors in nollywood.) |
Funmi martins and Princess Diana |
OP, as much as you made some really good points in your post, I still don't buy your ideas as a whole. And why are many of your points focusing on the same subject- the church should give to the members, give to the society, give to charity, feed the children, do this and 'does' that...but they shouldn't collect tithes...which you supported wrongly with a scripture you 'stole' from the new testament. My advise is please let this men of God be. God the judge of all will punish the thieves among them and will open the eyes of people that can't discern fake from true. It would be of economic good if you (the OP) channel this energy of yours (that you re using to tell us things a 'good' church should do) to stand against our corrupted govt system, reorientate youths on core values, organise socially and politically relevant symposia and create awareness of social issues where necessary. The govt is the one milking people dry that people are complaining about, not religious leaders! We've done enough of criticisms and 'correctns' of men of God on nairaland. Haba! As if we are better human beings! |
torhuke: Its celebration of Life.Whatever...even if the person is over 150 years old and lived a 'fulfilled' life that's worth celebrating, that shouldn't warrant the squanderous display of wealth on 'less-remorseful' parties in the name of 'honouring' the dead. Damn our culture! It is nt perfect. One of the ways it errs is this aspect of wasting millions on burial parties whereas there are children in orphanages who need help and attention, very good students that can't further their education or localities that lack basic amenities; yet, our unrepentant culture suggests we 'honour' the dead not minding if he or she is dancing in fire for eternity. As for me, the best way to honour someone, like an aged person is when he or she is alive, maybe through birthday party, not an event where everyone should be remorseful but gluttonous individuals focus on satisfying their appetites. |
And so how does this affect the price of *****?? |
greenoak: Wow am second to comment can't believe it !!! Anyways what a man can do a woman can do it even BETTERYeah. That's very true. A good example is embezzlment of public funds. |
Is that Steven Spielberg shaking her hand? Dis girl lucky o. Look at the confidence she exudes as she shakes his hand...she is a very gud actress. |
Though temperament plays a major role, but I think generally, wives keep more friends than their husbands. |
Team Federer and Serena! |
Pls, I want to see this Yoruba movie- 'Aramotu'. Heard it is a total departure from the ususal garbage. Anyone in the house who has seen it? |
@stillwater....Oh my God, I love that Thunderbolt movie! God bless the Op for pointing out some of the numerous flaws of the Yoruba movie industry. I hope they improve or else, their continual treading of this path of low standard eventually amounts to irrelevance. |
