PPR Alert! (11 days)

I applied on behalf of my wife for Study Permit and SOWP for myself. Although, we will be travelling with our child, we didn't apply for her since she's a US citizen (we plan to do it at POE). However, we made it clear that she will accompany my wife, hence, the need for me to also go with them.

For everyone waiting, it will end in praise!!!!!

Based on my knowledge, Actuarial Science is a branch of Mathematics, even though it has some element of Insurance in it, it is not a management course but purely Financial Mathematics.

With this, you cannot base your career or academic progression on just your degree if you have years of work experience.

If you have no job experience and not much study gap, you can enroll directly for PGCert related to your degree, this will show academic progression.

You should opt for PGCert in Banking or Financial Services, Accounting, Business Management or any course that relates directly to what you are doing in your place of work. For example, if you prepare reports and gather data, you are a data analyst and as such, you should opt for Business Intelligence and Analytics or Data Analytics; if you work in IT, say Networking, you should opt for Networking course etc.

With this, you can claim you want to study to improve your knowledge on what you do now which will later create a promotion for you or make you to be a Consultant etc.

Meanwhile, you could claim you wish to venture into academia, if you have some side gigs in some universities or polytechnics, by proceeding to do PGCert which relates to your degree.

You should also note that GCert is mostly 1 year (8 months) in duration, there are some that takes 2 years to complete though.

Guys please I am new on here and I have been reading and following this thread from the first page but I've seen that most people have unique circumstances so please I want to ask a few questions.
I finished with a third class degree in the Department of Insurance and Actuarial science ( but my degree says Bachelor of science in Actuarial science )and I have seen that my best option is to do a PGD for two years so I can get the 3 years PGWP , Please does anyone have schools I can apply to that accepts students easily for a 2 yrs course ,and also please I really didn't do well in my degree because I was originally studying chemistry before I switched to this new dept , so please can I do a course in Business management and the VO won't think my previous degree doesn't tally with what I want to choose now.
Please I am leaning more to Ontario colleges , but please I am open to any ideas and help at all guys.

Don't go for $17k school if you know you have not up to $27k. There are schools with tuition as low as $9k.

Omnisavage:
Please house, good evening.
I am a newbie here and I will appreciate if anyone can answer some of my questions.

So, I got an acceptance letter from a college in Ontario, the first year tuition is about 17k CAD, then plus the 10k CAD living expenses, my total proof of funds should be 27k CAD.

The issue is that as I type this, I only have 20k CAD, I plan on sponsoring myself, and I want to apply for visa latest by May 1 as my resumption date is September 2022. So my question goes thus:
i) do you think it is safe to only show 20K proof of funds and then explain in my letter how I plan to get the remaining money later?
ii) is it advisable for me to find someone that can send me the 7K CAD that is left as a lump sum? I heard the officers have an issue with lump sums when you submit your bank statement.
iii) if I decide on using a sponsor(my father's brother) to show the remaining 7k CAD, are there any things that must be considered?, for instance, he must have at least double that in his account, the money must not have arrived as a lump sum in his account too, or the 7k CAD must have spent at least 4 to 6 months in his account balance etc etc.

Please I appreciate anyone that can help me with this info, thank you.

PPR Alert!

Second application.
Old Portal.
Deferred admission to Fall (September)

Application submitted: December 31, 2021
Raised webform: February 21, 2022
GCMS requested: February 23, 2022
No update on application till...
Response to webform: March 21, 2022
Eligibility started: March 21, 2022
Ghost updates: March 23, 2022
Medical updated to pass: March 25, 2022
BVL: March 29, 2022
PPR: March 30, 2022

Thanks to everyone that responded to my questions when I got the previous denial. I sent multiple emails to JustMellow and he was so helpful and very responsive, gave detailed analysis to the doubts I had, I'm super grateful.

So, I did my biometrics in Lagos, how do I go about sending my passport?

Also, I just realized that my current passport expires in January 2023 and I plan to send that for stamping. But I dont know if that will be a problem seeing that my classes start in September. Since I have a few months before resumption, can I renew my passport here in Nigeria? The renewed passport will not have the stamp, so I'm confused on what to do.

How do I handle this situation so I won't need to request for a new visa when I enter canada?
Please advise.

I am so sorry to hear this. You can always try again, don't relent.

I cannot understand the first reason but only the second reason.

Based on the second reason, financial status and personal asset, I think I and gurus here might be able to see reasons for the refusal if you can tell us the followings:
1. Duration of study
2. School fee for first year and subsequent years if any.
3. Maturity date of the fixed deposit.
4. School resumption date.
5. Whether or not you're asked to pay upfront tuition.
6. Whether or not there are unexplained lump sums.

Meanwhile, GCMS notes will give bird eye view on the concern raised for refusing your application.

Also, copy undiluted texts from the letter. The texts above are mixed and edited and almost render the reasons for denial unreadable. I struggled to read and understand it.

@ShowYoung which school in us?

Meanwhile, if you'll love to study outside Canada, some universities and colleges in the US accept HND pass and Bachelor degree third class for Master degree directly.
There are, but I don't have their details now. You can go hunting for them yourself.

Meanwhile I forgot to add that they take also your "work experience" into consideration.

Please can I use a micro finance bank to show proof of funds, cos I work at the bank.
And do you think going with my husband because I have a 3months baby is a good deal?
Plz I need response as I have begin my application already. Thanks
IRCC never mentioned a particular type of bank. They mentioned "financial institution" which could mean banks of any type, non-bank financial institution (insurance companies, brokerage houses, mutual funds companies, stocks etc)

Their intention is to see how fast the money can be converted to cash.

Some people have used forex trading account, mutual fund papers, even microfinance bank accounts for PR. Even me, I attached a PoS wallet account from a microfinance bank alongside other bank accounts. My intention is to show that my accounts are busy and that I am working and earning good salary.

Good day....
Please i would like to know if ur tuition must be paid before u travel? Also must u travel with ur living expenses and tuition (if u haven't paid)?
Tuition fee payment depends on your school. If your tuition fee payment deadline hasn't come and no instruction from the school to pay, you don't have to pay it before traveling.

What should be proved is to have proofs that funds are available to make payments for tuition and others as and when due.

Personal Travel Allowance is a must. You can't travel to Canada carrying a paper proof showing some amount of money in papers without at least $1000 or more. You must hold some cash to cater for immediate expenses when you arrive.

Please for proof of funds at the port of entry, is my tuition receipt enough? Or I still have to show proof of living expenses also?
If I were you, I would have every proof handy. School fee receipt, PTA, proof of funds for possible expenses, bank statement etc.

Perhaps this information may be beneficial to some.

For your medical screening, you will observe that spaces are getting filled up quite quickly nowadays to the extent that slots are no more available for April, the next slots available are from May 11 according to IOM and no available slot for April according to QLife as at yesterday. I wanted to apply for one of my clients.

After emailing QLife, they responded to me that more slots would be opened for April today. After frequently checking since 12:00am midnight today even though all April slots have initially been taken up, they have finally opened some slots for April and are being taken up quickly. This means they are reallocating slots which have been taken up initially but are not going to be utilized.

Act now before it's late.

Hello everyone, please can anyone confirm to me how long it will take VFS-global to upload my biometrics and same reflect on my portal.
Thank you
Most of the time, recently, your biometric information reflects on your profile the same day you give biometric; sometimes, before you get home after living VFS office.

I just received this from IRCC, please can someone really explain this to me, I have submitted my application since November 17th, 2021......Now sending this.
You have probably sent an email in the past requesting the status of your application.

This is a generic response, but I think if they can respond to your email, something might be done about your application anytime soon.

Good day house, pls I need your guidance.
I just received two admission letters to study at Niagara College, Canada, after several rejection letters from Universities to study Master's Degree.
I have a B.Eng in Electrical/Electronics Engineering and 10yrs work experience in electrical/mechanical engineering in food and beverage industry.
My ambition is to finish my studies, get job and apply for PR

I will like to know which of the two letters to accept:
(1) Computer programming- Diploma (2yrs)
(2) Industrial Automation- Graduate Certificate (1yr)

Note: what are the things I need to do to have a successful visa application?
Thanks.
Having experience in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, I think GCert in Industrial Automation is good for you because:
1. GCert will show academic and career progression.
2. You can easily switch to Industrial Automation being an engineer if you can convince the visa officer and if there's undoubtable proofs that the job prospect is good.

If you choose to study Computer Programming at diploma level, visa officer may have a concern that you have BEng already, why going for diploma now especially that your job duty is nothing related to Computer Programming or Software Engineering? Apart from that, there is a 10 year study gap, this can be supplemented by your job experience.

Hence, it is natural that an Electrical Engineer may desire to switch career to Industrial Automation for the fact that it is reasonably feasible with good explanations to convince the visa officer

beebah83:
Good day
Please the advance diploma in colleges does it mean post graduate diploma and does the graduate certificate mean post graduate certificate. And if that is the case we need degree certificate for the advance diploma.
Please help with this.
Thanks
Advance Diploma is different from Post Graduate Diploma while Post Graduate Diploma means Graduate Diploma/Certificate.

Advance Diploma is an undergraduate credential that usually takes 2 years to complete after having completed a diploma, while Graduate Certificate/Diploma is a Graduate ( post graduate as we do call it in Africa) credential that takes 8 months (1 year) or more to complete. It mostly requires a degree or, ocassionally, an Advance Diploma as one of admission requirements.

If you are from Nigeria and you have HND or Bachelor degree but you can't go for Master degree directly because you have below second class upper, Graduate Certificate is for you.

If you have ND, but you don't delight in pursuing Bachelor degree, Advance Diploma is good for you.

Meanwhile, if you'll love to study outside Canada, some universities and colleges in the US accept HND pass and Bachelor degree third class for Master degree directly.

I hope this answers your questions

Jacklens:
Good morning, house.
I need to get clarification from the house:
1. If you do book for upfront medical, and actually submitted the study permit before the date for upfront medical; which form do you use at the IOM?

2. If one submit study permit earlier; will one wait for biometric request, or you can proceed to book for it immediately?
3. How do one send a biometric result to IRCC, if one decides to do before the IRCC request?.
Thanks, all.
1. IOM will provide you upfront medical form. It's stated on their website.

2. You must wait for biometric request letter which is important for accessing VFS office. That letter usually comes a day after study permit application submission. After getting this letter, you can book for biometric appointment.

3. You don't need to send your biometric result yourself. Most people get theirs updated before they get home the same day the biometric is done.
