Literature › Re: Who Knows The Story Of Medusa? (picture) by shumuel(m): 10:31pm On Jun 04, 2020 |
boman2014: Bumped into this. A good read Who knows the story of Medusa? Yes that ugly lady with the hair of snakes. The Gorgon who men dared not look at else they turn to stone. Do you know her real story?! Well I'll tell you! When I was in school, I was given a project titled Myths and Legends. Well naturally I settled for Greek mythology and Medusa hit my interest.
I always thought she was evil and all but this is the true story.
So Medusa was the most beautiful girl in her town. Her hair shone like gold. All men wanted her but she never gave in. She caught the eye of Poseidon the god of the sea and didn't give him the time of day. Well what did he do? He raped Medusa in Athena's temple. Athena was the goddess of wisdom and war.
Now the sad part was Athena was so enraged by what had happened that she cursed Medusa. Not the man who raped her no! Cursed the poor girl who was raped. Turned her into a creature that no man would ever look at again without dying and turned her beautiful hair into snakes.
Now some have claimed that Athena cursed Medusa to protect her but in all my research and even the writings of the poet, the story was consistent.
When I found out the truth behind Medusa, I changed my project and turned it into a tribute called 'Misunderstood'. I recreated her tombstone, changed her garments and created a pendant with her face on it.
Needless to say that was my best project in school and it was on display.
Now to bring it home. Isn't that what happens these days? Both here and abroad? A girl is raped and instead of going for her attackers, you blame her and slut-shame her. Claim she brought it on herald?
When you think of Medusa you think of an ugly Gorgon.
When I think of Medusa I think of a beautiful lonely girl the world failed. Just as the world is failing women today.

Now, why was she cursed ? Athena was in Love with poseidon but he loved Medusa who is a Priestess to the godess Athena, she felt it was an insult to her coupled with the fact That Medusa was more beautiful, Athena never liked Medusa since she saw her with poseidon,,, if i remember perfectly, i believe they were in love but because Medusa was a priestess she was not allowed to make love which led to the Rape, Athena took advantage to punish her buy turning her into a Titan, which in return would not allow her leave Athena's Temple 1 Like |
Business › Re: Help, I'm Being Frustrated By The Rules Of My Mum's Business by shumuel(m): 6:55pm On May 28, 2020 |
Blessamaka: My post might be lengthy but I'll try my best to be brief but please read to the end.
I'm in my early twenties (20's) and currently a student in one of the prestigious university in Nigeria.
Before I got admission, I usually help my mum to sell onions in Ajegunle market aka boundary market in Lagos State.
Ever since schools were shut down due to the pandemic I've been scared of helping my mum because of the despicable rules or laws guiding the business which i might not be able to keep to it thereby putting my mum in trouble and that's the only means of survival for me and mum for now.
My mum belongs to a group of people that sells same product and they are usually referred to as Union and the leaders are the one dishing out those annoying laws.
Examples of such laws are:
1. You don't buy more than the quantity of goods apportioned to you else you will be fined and suspended from selling but the so called leaders go contrary to these laws
2. They tell you when to buy goods i.e before buying new goods, you sell your old goods for 7days not minding if the quantity apportioned to you is enough or not. My self as a case study, we were apportioned 3 bags of onions and I sell 3 bags in 3 days so me and my mum would stay at home for 4days before going to buy new goods.
3. They tell you when to start selling which is 10:00am everyday excluding Sunday and this law was before the pandemic
4. They tell you how to sell i.e the size of onions you are to sell for a particular amount as if they borrowed you money or they are the one giving you money always to buy goods.
And many more of these unimaginable laws. Right now I confused! I don't know the best way to go about this and I really do wish to start selling because I'm broke and I've so many responsibilities to care for financially.
I need legal help, advice on how to go about this until I get something else to do or probably a work or a different business.
The reason for going into business is to make profit and save for rainy days but the reverse seems to be the case here.
Please help me move to front page to get more reviews in regard to this I guess these rules was put in place to allow equal opportunity for all, i believe the best option is to buy extra bags of Onions an sell at home during the remaining days, or you find another market you can sell when you have sold the ones you are allowed to sell at that market,, or find something else to sell for the remaining days |

IMASTEX: Agreed. Nigerians have not bordered the politicians since because they believe crude oil money isn't theirs since it wasn't taken directly. But wait until they start paying heavy taxes & the politicians want to maintain the same lifestyle, that is when the action film will start. For me, I won't feel okay paying even 1 Kobo as tax knowing fully those criminals will loot it. And I still would be okay paying 99% as tax abroad. You speak as if you would have a choice, This is Nigeria, who would listen to you or come to your aid,, do you even realise a whole Emir has just be dethroned by a politician ? Has we speak every account most be link to a TIN: Tax Identity Number, why do you think they are doing that, well FYI, your money would be deducted and you would only shout & Cry, what else would you do, Arrest or Sue ? Who excatly ! Your Bank, Governor or President ? If you ask me, i would pray ernestly that Crude oil does not fail, coz contrary to your belief, it is we the Citizens that would suffer the greatest HIT. |

IMASTEX: The Nigeria politicians should be the worse hit because that is their looting money. Other Nigerians only read crude oil funds on papers Yes & No Yes there wont be Oil money for them anymore, but it wont affect their looting,, the worse hit would be the Nigerian citizen, who would now be founding the so called Politicians expensive and lavish lifestyle through their noses,, why do you think they are now taking Tax seriously, to the point of linking it to bank accounts, their mission is to deduct money from us the way they like all in the name of Taxation. I pity for Nigerians if Crude oil fails. |

It could be a very intense relationship especially since Leo's love to be in charge. Who'll take the mantle and who'll come down for who. But they're adventurous people that like to have fun so that which they share in common acts as an advantage.
But fire signs needs an earth or water sign for balance. actually it's WIND/AIR sign Fire + Water; mostly end up in an abusive relationship Fire + Earth; would be a battle zone for supremacy Fire + Fire is even better, though Temperament believes in Opposite attraction which makes every sign compartible, but.... I'll go with that of Zodiac/Star sign anyday anytime, it's more accurate |

Libras are Travelers, they love their freedom to explore the world, they are nosy and are mostly gosips, though they have this introvert lifestyle if they don't see or have; who to talk to, where to go, or things to do, so they stay indoors sleeping the years out, but they really would wish they were somewhere far away. The best thing to do for a Libra is FOOD & OUTINGS and you are good, they are caring and givers but they usually prefer to receive from others first, this makes people see them as stingy but they are far from it. Remember to get a LIBs loyality, just give them gifts and food, they are flirts too, and this always get them in trouble |

she is a leo though.
And her only complaint is my being soo unconventional... smh Your Compartibility is high, and from what you have written; you are giving her want she wants, which is freedom, Leos do better when they are in control and trust me they like too, the succeed easily, go getters, mostly achieve their dream, though wouldn't mind the illegal ways but they always succeed. Let her control, just sit back and enjoy the ride,, and yeah she might be a bit too bossy, it's just their thing they don't mean harm, even when they get lazy too they just love the worship. |

Amya: From Obiebi's session, I can see that Ebi is such a sweet baby and completely in love (Why do women love so fast) But Obi is the worst person for her as he'll try to change her into his personal ideal of what a woman should be like. Obi might be an Aquarius.
I wish I had information on the birth dates of these housemates. It'll have helped me in analysing their relationship. you know Astrology that's nice, you just found a friend in me, been readinf silently but this got my attention Now; why do you think he is Aquarius, though i am not really following the show and i don't see much but i would choose an Earth sign(Capricorn, Taurus or Virgo) for Obi, they are the ones who love perfection, control freaks, and love to stay away from the crowd; which is something Obi had been doing, from the little i had watched. Some of them made mention of their Birthday date during the sections with Aunty. |

Kosiso12: 'FIFA VAR' Introduced in Village Football Competition in Imo State (Photos)
A video assistant referee(VAR) was introduced in a village football competition in Imo State.
In the pictures shared to Igbere TV, the referee can be seen watching a television stationed close to the field.
Igbere TV learnt that the television used as FIFA VAR was just to spice up the game and entertain fans.
The video assistant referee is a match official in association football who reviews decisions made by the head referee. Following extensive trialling in a number of major competitions, VAR was first written into the Laws of the Game by the International Football Association Board in 2018.

Family › Re: How Do I Understand/satisfy My Husband? by shumuel(m): 11:11pm On Nov 21, 2019 |
UnbiasTruth: I am sorry this is rather too long but please I need to pour out my mind because I need your mature advice. I have been going through a lot of trauma since my husband stopped working and it is really getting to me because my blood pressure is high.
I love my husband and despite what is happening now, I still love him. I just need advice on how to manage the situation right now.
My husband is a hard-working, loving, caring and gentle man; he showed me true love from the first day I met him. He was very dedicated to his job and he received commendations from his boss and colleagues at work but something just happened that led to his resignation.
A kind of conspiracy against him. He was advised by one of his superiors at work to resign. Now it’s been more than a year that he is out of job. All attempts to get him back into the labour force had been futile because he keeps saying he does not want to settle for less.
He was earning six figure salary while at his former place of work and he has a side business which he still manages till now but the profit is close to nothing and it is not even constant.
Now, the issue I have with him is that my husband gets angry at almost everything. He nags and drinks (not with friends because he is an introvert) excessively, so he is always at home. He keeps on complaining about our house helps even when I investigate and realize that most of his complaints are flimsy. We have changed house helps in this year up to 4 times.
So, in August this year, I decided not to get any maid again since we could not find one whose domestic care service would satisfy my husband.
Mind you, I have been the one practically footing the bill after two months that my husband lost his job because we made a huge investment in acquiring some property shortly before he lost his job. So, I pay house rent, school fees, feed the whole family (we have 3 lovely children) from my salary.
My nature of work rarely gives me time so I can’t afford to take care of the children and do much of the house chores. I explained to my husband to assist since he is always at home but he keeps saying if he had not lost his job, I wouldn’t have asked him to do basic house chores.
I know he was raised with silver spoon so he rarely knows how to do most domestic work. I had been the one doing this before we started having house helps and my job at office got more engaging.
My pastor recently advised that I should consider getting a professional cleaner who will only do some routine cleaning and leave immediately because my husband may not be comfortable with a stranger in the house.
Two days ago, I came across a thread https://www.nairaland.com/5426688/what-cost-getting-regular-home here on Nairaland while searching for a good cleaning service here in Lagos and I decided to pay for the service of a male cleaner.
After discussing with my husband, he shunned the idea and still insists I do it myself. So, he asked me to demand a refund. I need someone to help me do some basic cleaning at home since I can afford to pay for the service, but my husband does not want to accept any stranger in our home.
I have asked my pastor and my mother-in-law to talk to him also but he is still keeping deaf hear.
Is there anyone with a better suggestion before I get fed up? Can you please tell me his Birthday date |
