Shynaboy1: The thing is I didn't do the exam. I only did common entrance back then. I don't know how to go about it now go back to your primary school, if it’s not existing there’s a board in government that issues it! Find out and go there with your school testimonial! They’ll issue it to you! I didn’t do the exam too but I got mine like 3/4 years ago |

damibjs: Am not talking abt sexual assault....just trying to encourage the sister to get enlisted truu recruitment (ssce)...either navy or airforce first....
For her to get shortlisted for NDA final list.....she gat to kno who is who in nigeria its harder to get Dssc as a recruit my guy! Nda isn’t as difficult to get! It’s as simple as knowing a colonel. With 5/6 phone calls, from parents to friends something will turn up But you see that SSCE ehn! After passing out, I think it’s 6 years! She’d have to spend a total of 6 years before she can be allowed to further studies! And that’s if you get permission! Then going to school, finishing and now coming back to want to run Dssc! Think about the age requirement! Let her just try nda! She might get lucky Cos she’s a female cadet! She might get shortlisted! But she should just apply navy or air force |

For NDA female....the slot no be WASA lol that discussion is not for today! What the female cadets see from sexual assault, to “na woman nah” ... staying in a former cadets house in kaduna, I knew what female cadets experienced daily! Mhen!! |

I understood that he was even more passionate about this job more than me and I sent both our numbers to Oga! He got shortlisted and i was dropped During medicals! Didn’t even call me to tell me he made the final list! Baba just disappeared like that and if was the general that called my father to tell us that the guy resumed training..this year I’m more focused on helping myself first! QuadrilAyinde: Seriously Sir Ugo4U, At this Juncture, I'M STRONGLY CONVINCED that the Higher Authorities ain't ready to stop this Boko haram menace COZ THERE ARE EASY AND IMPLEMENTABLE WAYS OF THRASHING OUT GUERILLA ACT OF TERRORISM... These books Below are the Reason for my Submission coz I've Painstakingly gone through it All..
(1) TRANSFORMATION : A BOLD CASE FOR UNCONVENTIONAL WARFARE by (Steven P Basilici and Jeremy Simmons).... This is actually a NAVAL POSTGRADUATE SCHOOL THESIS, MONTEREY, CALIFORNIA (June 2004)
(2) ASSESSING IRREGULAR WARFARE (A framework for Intelligence Analysis) By Eric V Larson, Derek Eaton, Brian Nichiporuk, Thomas S Szayna
(3) COUNTERING ASSYMETRICAL WARFARE IN THE 21ST CENTURY (A Grand Strategic Vision) By David E Long
(4) NATIONAL STRATEGY FOR COMBATING TERRORISM (A 32 PAGES February 2003 Publication of the USA) i like how you have read most or all these books and how you have something to contribute to Winning the war against insurgency! In my opinion I think baby steps is required as the first step now is to get in first! Of which even after getting in, as a a young officer you can’t have an opinion or opportunity for policy reform till one hits the rank of colonel..so bro! Press button!! Make dem Shortlist you! That’s more important |

ugo4u: 1a) They're no where near better trained than the Nigerian army and in extension the military. The Nigerian armed forces are amongst the top trained military in Africa especially academically and in conventional warfare, records abound from Sierra Leone, Liberia, Burma etc it is worthy of note that the Nigerian army dealt with the rebels in Somalia the same rebels that almost routed the US army. BHT seems to be a formidable militia because of their style of fighting which is asymetric(Guerilla warfare) and wrt to that, NA is still learning the books in effectively fighting unconventional war, insurgency started barely 10yrs ago in Nigeria. Again allover the world the fight against terrorism is very difficult. The US have reached a peace deal with the Taliban's after many years of fruitless fight. It took the Sri-lankan military almost 20yrs to defeat the Tamil Tigers. Insurgency is very difficult to tackle as the enemies most atimes hits you and run there are no defined lines. Also the personnel of the NA and the insurgents have a totally different ideology, whilst the former fights to defend his homeland he also have hopes of returning to his families someday but the latter's todo list is to Choose paradise, possess wives and meet God in the afterlife. A Russian soldier said "when terrorists see the nozzle of a gun all they see is paradise". So religious ideology makes them tough and carefree that's why they seem to be more battle hardened but the truth is that the NA is better trained and better equipped than them irrespective of the atrocities they commit. Remember the NA is a professional army and are bound by the international laws/Geneva convention on war, nothing concerns Bokoharam with all these conventions. The NA can't use certain weapons on the enemy like AA, but bokoharam are at liberty to use all kinds of unconventional weapons on humans. They use Anti-aircraft guns(AA) etc used to shoot down aircrafts against our soldiers. Another point worthy of note is that BHT identifies their target usually isolated bases then use numerical strength (High volume firepower) to displace the bases. They collect Intels of the numerical strength of our soldiers in a certain base and triple the number to attack them, that's why the army of recent came up with the Super Camp tactics to checkmate their excesses and it has worked perfectly but the problem with the tactics is that many soldiers have being withdrawn from outposts and fronts given BH leeway to operate as they want in many towns, we don't have enough men on ground to hold positions Borno state alone is bigger than the entire southeast we need atleast 70,000 boots on ground in the north east to properly hold recovered territories. b) As for personnel who rise through the ranks the NA have alot of them infact the army regularly promote many of them to the officer cadre that's why we have executive commissioning where senior NCOs are promoted to the officer cadres.
2) The term "Morale being low" is quite bogus, it's not uncommon for troops who had setbacks in battle to go rogue, in that moment of confusion anything can happen is more of psychological, it happens to all militaries in the world. That's why the army enlists Psychologists, physiotherapist, Mental health experts etal to talk and administer treatment to soldiers. 3) No idea 4) No idea 5) It's irrelevant, No military in the world will come out and tell you their rate of attrition atleast not in the middle of a war lest you give your enemies tools for propaganda. lol nothing more can be said after this! Even me I learnt from this |

jelraj: That is the passion.. Something lot of soldiers lack these days... Right where I leave 174 battalion, I can't count how many soldiers have gone AWOL because they were posted to Maiduguri. Ranking from warrant officers to captains.. Imagine the years wasted.
Sometimes I wonder why they join, if they don't want to go to war, or is there another meaning of being a soldier that I don't know..
To all the guys that wish to join to oppress their mates, those that want to join to visit shoprites and woo girls, those that just want to show off, you better rethink. Na war we dey go n nothing is guaranteed. Going AWOL is a big offense and shameful. ARMY no be play.. Please give room for people that really can do the job theres nothing joyful about going to war to be honest! My friends were all hyped until they deployed there! Some of them would never be the way they were again! From ptsd to insanity! You think war is fun, wait until you take a bullet in the head! My very good friend lieutenant Hamzat Buba that was on this thread in 2015 when he joined my officers group, finished training, we popped bottles that day! Still spoke to him in the academy in November after I was dashed high bp! He was telling me to calm down and promise to come again! He was shot twice in the head just a couple of days after! It’s all fun and games until it’s your own 21 gun salute. The only thing that will make me go to war is the sense of duty for the job! It’s not something to anticipate! People that had gbewa more than you don go! It’s still the best job in the world doe...and that pip, we will hang it |

nora2018: abi!! You are right o besides army is not the only job one can succeed mhen sometimes I notice that people don’t understand the place of passion and settling for what’s best for them! For me and some of mine, if it’s not the military then it’s nowhere! I work as a UI designer in a big tech company in Lagos! But mhen I’ve often asked myself. In the next 20 years, what regrets would I have? What IF I get big in society and then I start my own tech company and I become very successful , marry and give birth to beautiful kids and then one day I’m driving with my family in the car and an an officer drives past my car, omo Tears will drop from my eyes ooo Cos this is one of the only things I want to spend the rest of my life doing! I didn’t even think twice about quitting my job in November last year to go for the screening, and if I’m shortlisted this year again, I still wouldn’t think twice! |

QuadrilAyinde: I blv there'll ALWAYS be Exceptions..... From the info I've gathered so far, as for the DSSC, Once U can Blow their Mind off for the Interview, U are 70% in, but the kind questions No be here... Imagine a question like WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE AT THE SCREENING (What my friend was asked Specifically)..
Fortunately for him, He was able to Perfectly Link how HIS COURSE OF STUDY (MATERIALS ENGINEERING, My course mate) relates to Armored Vehicle Production and The Improvements that can be done on the Current prototype they using at the frontline currently (He has already prepared answering such question b4 leaving for the Screening, so he had Done an Extensive research on that). On a Final Note, he also SUGGESTED how Nigeria Can Achieve Fabricating IT'S 1ST MAIN BATTLE TANK Using Available Local Raw Materials (Materials Selection), thus Saving huge Amount of Money from its Importation (Case study of the VT-4 MBT that were delivered few months ago to us by the Chinese). see bah you can blow the mind at the screening and not make the list! Let me tell you now that it’s not the bored president that’ll compile the list of shortlisted! Something that has to still go through the military secretary and t he senate! People that even flunked the interview got shortlisted to resume sef so forget am! Your mans got lucky. It’s not because of his sweet mouth, it’s because it was his job to begin with! The board president can only recommend and make sure his personal people make it through! The rest na Oga at the top hands e dey.... there are also people that I know that went to Ssc board and they told them to fill in the gap on the board! Also there was a girl that was “disqualified” for sitting down when she wasn’t asked to! Babe dey training like this! Just hold God strongly if he’s your connect or hold your Abuja men! |

Majority of my village men for 45/46 got shortlisted on merit... some of them are commissioned now and some of them are in training.
