Vice-President Namadi Sambo on Monday said he had no link to the hike in the cost of the construction of his official residence from the initial N7bn to N16bn. Media reports had quoted the Vice-Chairman, Senate Committee on Federal Capital Territory, Senator Domingo Obende, as saying the additional N9bnwas to make the quarters suit Sambo’s culture and religion. Obende was reported to have said a Julius Berger Nigeria Plc engineer, who is handling the project, told the committee that the house was initially designed to suit the taste of the then Vice-President Goodluck Jonathan but the emergence of Sambo as the Vice-President altered the master plan. But in a statement by his Senior Special Assistant onMedia and Publicity, Mr. Umar Sani, Sambo said he had nothing to do with the cost of the construction since the building was not his personal property. It read, “The Vice-President has nothingto do with the construction of the new residence in question, as it is not his personal property but the residence of any Nigerian Vice-President. He should therefore not be connectedwith the expenditure of theconstruction.” Sambo, who described the controversy surrounding the residence as unnecessary, said he decided to clarify his position on the matter after taking stock of issues raised overtime. He explained that his current temporary official residence, Aguda House, was designated in the Abuja master plan as a Presidential Guest House. Sambo added that the Federal Capital Territory Administration saddled withthe responsibility of providing accommodation for deserving government officials, ensured the implementation of the master plan by locating thepermanent residence of the Vice-President to its present position and building a befitting accommodation to any Vice-President. The statement read, “It should be known that the concept and choice of a residential accommodation was purely by the professionals in the FCT administration and neither has he (Sambo) ever interfered with the budgetary requirements orcost associated with the constructions. “It should interest members of the public to note that in the FCT 2012 appropriation, not a single kobo was included in the budget for the residence. “It should therefore be carefully understood and appreciated that the Vice-President has nothingto do with the construction of the new residence in question, as it is not his personal property but the residence of any Nigerian Vice-President. “He should therefore not be connected with the expenditure of the construction.” via Punch |

Guys, let talk bout dis. We've talk bout topic like real man, player, boy and so on. But can this 8 ways really work on u? And ladies do u, get him to help u by this ways too ![]() Getting your husband to help you with domestic chores is quite an art and requires lot of tact and technique. Here’show you can accomplish this seemingly difficult task rather easily: 1. Don’t nag The moment you start nagging, it has quite the opposite effect on men. They’ll become more stubborn and chances are that you’ll end up having an argument or fight. So first of all, stop nagging. Simply resist the temptation. 2. Politely ask for help Men by nature respond to women when they ask for help. Don’t nag or taunt, instead politely ask for help. Chances are that you’ll get what you want. 3. Don’t give too many instructions Often men are willing to help you with your chores but themoment you start giving too many instructions on how things should be done, they lose interest. Try not to control him too much. Let him finish the task the way he wants. You can politely guidebut ensure that you do not turn into a control freak. Give him some flexibility and freedom. 4. Plan and divide the chores Discuss and plan how the domestic chores will be completed in your household.Involve your husband in the planning. Don’t simply dictateyour terms. His involvement will arouse his interest and he’ll participate actively and willingly. 5. Give some incentives Make him understand that if he helps you in completing chores, then you can get free quickly and you two canspend some quality time together. Whenever he helps you, reward him with aromantic evening and lots of love. 6. Make working together fun While washing dishes together, you two can share your day’s events and happenings. You can share jokes and gossips. The idea is to enjoy even though you two are working. If you’ll make working together fun, then your husband would join you willingly. 7. Appreciate him At the end of the day, everyone wants to be appreciated. So be generouswith your appreciation. Let him know that he did a good job. Thank him for helping you out. Such small gesturesmake a big impact. So don’t underestimate the simple ‘Thank you’. Use it often. 8. Do something special for him Let him know that he is such a good husband who helps his wife, and appreciate him in every way you can. Do something that will make him feel happy and special. Use your charm and politeness to make your manhelp you in the household chores. Follow these tips andenjoy! |

ThePope has used his Christmas address to the Vatican bureaucracy to disclose the papacy’s stand on gay marriage saying that gay people entering into marriage is against nature in such a fundamental way that it could spell the end of humankind. “There is no denying the crisis that threatens it [thefamily] to its foundations —especially in the Western world,” the Pope is quotedas saying. “When such commitment is repudiated, the key figures of human existence likewise vanish: father, mother, child — essential elements of the experience of being humanare lost.” Steve Williams wrote onCare2.com; “Utter nonsense of course, as some gay people marrying does not by extension delete the mother, the father or the child, and to infer that it does is beyondchildish, it’s belittling to all intelligent conversation. It also infers what the Pope has previously offered: that people in same-s*x relationships are somehownot human. Indeed, the Pope seems to have jettisoned all measured response on this issue, going on to saythat people are somehow manipulating their identitiesagainst nature and destroying the “essence of the human creature.”” The Pope was also quoted by the Independent as saying; “People dispute the idea that they have a nature, given to them by their bodily identity, which serves as a defining element of the human being,” he said. “They deny their nature and decide that it is not something previously given to them, but that they make it for themselves. The manipulation of nature, which we deplore today where our environment is concerned, now becomes man’s fundamental choice where he himself is concerned.” Earlier in the week, the Vatican released a full front-page editorial that appears to claim same-s*x couples exist insome sort of different reality because they cannot conceive children together, and that marriage equality is questing after an “unachievable utopia.” Although nations like Portugal and Argentina, and more recently the United States and Britain, have moved, with increasing support, to offer marriage equality, the Vatican’s stand on the issue is not influenced. “Man and woman as created realities, as the nature of the human being,no longer exist. Man calls his own nature into question. From now on he is merely spirit and will. [...]When freedom to be creative becomes the freedom to create oneself, then necessarily the Makerhimself is denied and ultimately man too is stri*ped of his dignity as acreature of God,” the Popesaid. There has been confusing reports on the stand of the Catholic Church on gay marriage, but the Pope’s address has stated clearlythe stand of the church. The Pope obviously isn’t hiding his stand on this issue as he earlier this month, chose to bless Ugandan parliamentary speaker Rebecca Kadaga, who is now the chief proponent of Uganda’s ‘Kíllthe Gays’ bill. The bill which was supposed to be passed this week missed its Christmas deadline but would most likely will be taken up in the new year. |
