A former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Bode George, has warned the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, against manipulating the emergence of the next Ooni of Ife. Following the passage of Oba Okunade Sijuwade, ruling houses in Ife, Osun State, will meet as part of the process of picking a new monarch. However, George, who is the Atona Oodua of Yoruba land, told our correspondent during an interview, on Monday, that Tinubu should not use his relationship with the Osun State Governor, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola, to manipulate the process. George said Tinubu should have learnt from the recent National Assembly crisis that undue interference in the affairs of established institutions could spell doom. He said, “He will be making attempts to manipulate the process. They will do politics with it but it will blow up. They should allow the kingmakers to do their work. If he manipulates the process, he will create a huge problem in Yoruba land. “Let him allow the kingmakers do their job. He should not set Yoruba land on fire. Aregbesola should, instead, focus on paying salaries.” Ife is considered to be a stronghold of the PDP in Osun State. When asked to react to the late Ooni’s closeness to former President Goodluck Jonathan, George said it had nothing to do with the process of the emergence of a king which is a sacred process. George said the politics of Ife was not like that of Lagos and Tinubu should not set a bad precedence in Yoruba land. “He (Tinubu) tried it at the National Assembly but came back with a slap. He should, therefore, not go out of his way to bring in an APC-inclined man as the next Ooni. We want an Ooni that will be fair and not connected with all these politicians. “We need an experienced person. We want the person that the kingmakers will approve of. As the Atona Oodua, I know how these things are done.” George urged President Muhammadu Buhari to ensure that the South-East produced the next Secretary to the Federal Government. The PDP leader said doing otherwise would make the people of the geopolitical zone feel left out. However, Tinubu’s spokesperson, Mr. Sunday Dare could not be reached for comment. Leviticus Chapter 18 1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, I am the LORD your God. 3 After the doings of the land of Egypt, wherein ye dwelt, shall ye not do: and after the doings of the land of Canaan, whither I bring you, shall ye not do: neither shall ye walk in their ordinances. 4 Ye shall do my judgments, and keep mine ordinances, to walk therein: I am the LORD your God. 5 Ye shall therefore keep my statutes, and my judgments: which if a man do, he shall live in them: I am the LORD. 6 None of you shall approach to any that is near of kin to him, to uncover their unclothedness: I am the LORD. 7 The unclothedness of thy father, or the unclothedness of thy mother, shalt thou not uncover: she is thy mother; thou shalt not uncover her unclothedness. 8 The unclothedness of thy father's wife shalt thou not uncover: it is thy father's unclothedness. 9 The unclothedness of thy sister, the daughter of thy father, or daughter of thy mother, whether she be born at home, or born abroad, even their unclothedness thou shalt not uncover. 10 The unclothedness of thy son's daughter, or of thy daughter's daughter, even their unclothedness thou shalt not uncover: for theirs is thine own unclothedness. 11 The unclothedness of thy father's wife's daughter, begotten of thy father, she is thy sister, thou shalt not uncover her unclothedness. 12 Thou shalt not uncover the unclothedness of thy father's sister: she is thy father's near kinswoman. 13 Thou shalt not uncover the unclothedness of thy mother's sister: for she is thy mother's near kinswoman. 14 Thou shalt not uncover the unclothedness of thy father's brother, thou shalt not approach to his wife: she is thine aunt. 15 Thou shalt not uncover the unclothedness of thy daughter in law: she is thy son's wife; thou shalt not uncover her unclothedness. 16 Thou shalt not uncover the unclothedness of thy brother's wife: it is thy brother's unclothedness. 17 Thou shalt not uncover the unclothedness of a woman and her daughter, neither shalt thou take her son's daughter, or her daughter's daughter, to uncover her unclothedness; for they are her near kinswomen: it is wickedness. 18 Neither shalt thou take a wife to her sister, to vex her, to uncover her unclothedness, beside the other in her life time. 19 Also thou shalt not approach unto a woman to uncover her unclothedness, as long as she is put apart for her uncleanness. 20 Moreover thou shalt not lie carnally with thy neighbour's wife, to defile thyself with her. 21 And thou shalt not let any of thy seed pass through the fire to Molech, neither shalt thou profane the name of thy God: I am the LORD. 22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination. 23 Neither shalt thou lie with any beast to defile thyself therewith: neither shall any woman stand before a beast to lie down thereto: it is confusion. 24 Defile not ye yourselves in any of these things: for in all these the nations are defiled which I cast out before you: 25 And the land is defiled: therefore I do visit the iniquity thereof upon it, and the land itself vomiteth out her inhabitants. 26 Ye shall therefore keep my statutes and my judgments, and shall not commit any of these abominations; neither any of your own nation, nor any stranger that sojourneth among you: 27 (For all these abominations have the men of the land done, which were before you, and the land is defiled ![]() 28 That the land spue not you out also, when ye defile it, as it spued out the nations that were before you. 29 For whosoever shall commit any of these abominations, even the souls that commit them shall be cut off from among their people. 30 Therefore shall ye keep mine ordinance, that ye commit not any one of these abominable customs, which were committed before you, and that ye defile not yourselves therein: I am the LORD your God. |
TRADELYN:Wrong word there, the appropriate word should be executing. |
There is no denying the fact that Fashola is corrupt like every other politician in Nigeria, but I think I prefer Fashola to Deizaini Allisson-Maduekwe or James Ibori that Deltans are now fasting and praying for. |

A former member of the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Missa Bobbo, and a notorious drug baron, Bappa Madu, of Ngurore town have been sentenced to seven years imprisonment each by a Federal High Court in Yola. Bobbo was arrested by officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency in connection with unlawful possession of narcotics in 2013 while Bappa, who has twenty-five children, was arrested in June 2015. According to a statement by NDLEA spokesperson, Mr. Mitchell Ofoyeju, Bobbo was convicted for possessing 81.9kg of cannabis sativa while Bappa was found guilty of possessing 61.6kg of tramadol. Justice Balkisu Aliyu described the involvement of the former legislator in drug trafficking as shameful during his sentencing. Bobbo was a member of the House of Assembly in Adamawa State representing Leko-Koma Constituency between 1991 and 1993. He was also a member of the national constitutional conference in 1995. Apart from the dried weeds of cannabis found on him; fresh plants of cannabis were also harvested from his cannabis farm. Chairman/Chief Executive of the NDLEA, Ahmadu Giade, in his reaction, described the action of the former lawmaker as distasteful adding that the conviction would serve as deterrent to others. Giade said, “There are no sacred cows in the war against drug trafficking. Anyone involved in criminal acts must be prepared for the day of judgement. This arrest and conviction further validate the fact that the law is supreme. “NDLEA will continue to work towards a society that is free from drug trafficking and abuse. Both cases are significant because Bobbo is a former legislator and the second convict is a notorious drug trafficker that deals in psychotropic substances in the state.” The Adamawa State Commander of the NDLEA, Mr. Yakubu Kibo, said the arrest of the two convicts was a welcome development as their activities were negatively affecting the lifestyle of most youths in the state. “The command is working very hard to reduce cases of substance abuse especially among young people. I am happy with the conviction because of the consequences of their illegal drug activities. In addition to arrest and prosecution of drug dealers, the command conducts anti-drug abuse education in schools, motor parks and other places to sensitise people on the consequences of drug production, trafficking and abuse.” Yakubu stated. I hope they will all be going to pay Saraki and his wife condolence visit at the prison when Buhari / Tinubu / EFCC finally puts Saraki, his wife and Ekweremadu where looters and forgers belong. |
