Please help o!

My driver account was activated on Monday but up till this very time, I haven't received any trip request despite being online for 12 hours. The only one I could say came through was not successfully accepted perhaps due to network issue around that time. Location was around Ikeja City Mall then.

The major online hours have been spent around Ikorodu area. But the sad thing is this. Even when I'm online and I try to check my status using the rider app, I always get the message that "uber service is currently not available in your area" despite being online on my driver app.

I use Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime. Someone should please help.

Totally unnecessary.

no one can dictate to the owner how much he should give his car out. if you feel the price is too high for you, you can seek a lower one.

I am a driver and I don't see why I cannot deliver 55k weekly on higher purchase. mind you that I am not speaking for all drivers here. you have to understand that there are categories of uber drivers. not all are smart. not all can navigate. not all know lagos roads well and not all can make up to 70k weekly.

I personally haven't made below 120k a week since I joined uber. this 120k is after uber has taken out their fee.

if a car owner gives me a tokunbo car with zero issues and I cannot deliver 55k weekly then there is something wrong somewhere.

I am currently on a 45k weekly rental but switching to a 55k hp agreement next week.

not all uber drivers can do that, doesn't mean it's not doable.
Bro nice job you're doing. Please how do I contact you? I need you to help with some tips and clarifications.

PoliticsPresident Buhari Suspends SGF Babachir Lawal And DG NIA Ayodele Oke by sinorte(op): 1:23pm On Apr 19, 2017
President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered an investigation into the allegations of violations of law and due process made against the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr David Babachir Lawal, in the award of contracts under the Presidential Initiative on the North East (PINE).

The President has also directed the suspension of the SGF from office pending the outcome of the investigations.

In a related development, the President has ordered a full-scale investigation into the discovery of large amounts of foreign and local currencies by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in a residential apartment at Osborne Towers, Ikoyi, Lagos, over which the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) has made a claim.

The investigation is also to enquire into the circumstances in which the NIA came into possession of the funds, how and by whose or which authority the funds were made available to the NIA, and to establish whether or not there has been a breach of the law or security procedure in obtaining custody and use of the funds.

The President has also directed the suspension of the Director General of the NIA, Ambassador Ayo Oke, pending the outcome of the investigation.

A three-man Committee comprising the Hon. Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, and the National Security Adviser, headed by the Vice President, is to conduct both investigations.

The Committee is to submit its report to the President within 14 days.

The most senior Permanent Secretary in the SGF's office, and the most senior officer in the NIA, are to act, respectively, during the period of investigation.

Foreign AffairsUS Drops The "Mother Of All Bombs" In Afghanistan by sinorte(op): 5:40pm On Apr 13, 2017
AFGHANISTAN — The US military has dropped an enormous bomb in Afghanistan, according to four US military officials with direct knowledge of the mission.

A GBU-43/B Massive Ordnance Air Blast Bomb (MOAB), nicknamed the “mother of all bombs,” was dropped at 7:32 pm local time Thursday, the sources said. A MOAB is a 21,600-pound, GPS-guided munition that is America’s most powerful non-nuclear bomb.

The bomb was dropped by an MC-130 aircraft, stationed in Afghanistan and operated by Air Force Special Operations Command, Pentagon spokesman Adam Stump told CNN.

Officials said the target was an ISIS cave and tunnel complex and personnel in the Achin district of the Nangarhar province.

“The United States takes the fight against ISIS very seriously and in order to defeat the group we must deny them operational space, which we did,” White House press secretary Sean Spicer said later Thursday. The strike “targeted a system of tunnels and cave that ISIS fighters use to move around freely.”

The military is currently assessing the damage. Gen. John Nicholson, commander of US forces in Afghanistan, signed off on the use of the bomb, according to the sources. The authority to deploy the weapon was granted to Nicholson by the commander of US Central Command, Gen. Joseph Votel, Stump said.

This is the first time a MOAB has been used in the battlefield, according to the US officials. This munition was developed during the Iraq War.

“As ISIS-K’s losses have mounted, they are using IEDs, bunkers and tunnels to thicken their defense,” Nicholson said in a statement following the strike.

“This is the right munition to reduce these obstacles and maintain the momentum of our offensive against ISIS-K,” Nicholson added.

“US forces took every precaution to avoid civilian casualties with this strike. US Forces will continue offensive operations until ISIS-K is destroyed in Afghanistan,” read the statement from US Forces Afghanistan.

The extent of the damage and whether anyone was killed is not yet clear. The military is currently conducting an assessment.

The Pentagon is currently reviewing whether to deploy additional trainers to Afghanistan to help bolster US allies there.

The Achin district is the primary center of ISIS activity in Afghanistan. A US Army Special Forces soldier was killed fighting the terror group there Saturday.

PoliticsIt's Obvious He Did Not Go To School, "So Sue Me Dino" By Peregrino Brimah by sinorte(op):
BY PEREGRINO BRIMAHAPR 02, 2017
In the embarrassing issue of the "Certificate Saga," as fine media prophet Woli Arole captioned it, the more of a presentation Dino Melaye makes, the more it is obvious that unlike "Eze who went to school," Dino did not.
I take full responsibility for any legal or more likely illegal implications of this article and shelve the publishers of any responsibility whatsoever, so sue me Dino.

Any educated or even semi-educated person who watched Dino's putrid rambling appeal on Channels TV last week is most certainly as irritated and embarrassed as I am. Dino Melaye may be literate but he is uneducated. Literacy is the capacity to read and write, but "being educated" is a certification of a quality of knowledge and training received.

On set, Dino appeared to annoy or frustrate Seun Okinbaloye. Apart from his dodging and then declaring not to answer simple questions of whether or not he graduated, Dino startled the world when he decided that it was his duty to re-educate us all on what a school is. This I think was the lowest moment for Nigeria so far this 2017. A sitting senator attempting to define or re-define what the global concept of a school and graduation is!

Let me attempt to highlight the various aspects of pathetic Dino's pathetic presentation:

Downgrade method
Firstly in the short clip I watched, Dino Melaye tried to downgrade what a tertiary institution is. He compared it to mechanic workshops and plumbers. Not sure if these give certificates now, but senator Dino Melaye said something that seemed to mean that even mechanic workshops and plumbers are certification bodies. Senator Dino Melaye appeared to wish to ridiculously lower the bar by referring to apprenticeship jobs as being similar to tertiary institutions. This is the downgrade debate method, most commonly used by toddlers.

Transposition method
The senator representing Kogi West struggled to confuse the public by deliberately mixing up a certificate with a certification. While a degree is printed as a certificate, a certification is not a degree as the senator hoped to confuse the public to not notice. It is necessary to clearly state that a certification does not in any way mean or equal a Degree or a Diploma. Study.com explains that without or within a Degree, one may obtain many certifications. Receiving a certification document from a tertiary institution does not make you a graduate of that institution but only certified in that aspect of that field learning. Only a degree or diploma makes you a graduate of an institution. The word certificate means nothing more than "a document." "A document serving as evidence or as written testimony, as of status, qualifications, privileges, or the truth of something."

When we ask for Dino's certificate of graduation, we might otherwise say, where is the document of your graduation. Dino bringing out a seminar attendance certification to prove he "graduated" from Harvard is like him bringing out a National Assembly document and saying it is a degree. This is how retarded his mix up argument was. Dino Melaye either did not know the difference between the two words or hoped it would slide without deconstruction.

Sue Me, Circumvent Method
As the interview progressed, again pressed on for an unambiguous declaration of his "graduation," Dino Melaye said, "it is as I have put it. Sue me if you doubt it." The sue me method relies on the hope that the challenge will not be taken up and that if it is, the court will be corrupted not to pass a true judgment. The question posed to Dino Melaye was straightforward. Did you graduate from Harvard and London Economic school as discredited and as you declared verbally and on your resume? Your constituents deserve to know. It would have been easy for the Kogi West senator to simply say, yes I did. But after dodging and dillydallying, he played the sue me card.

Obfuscation Method

As he ridiculed himself, the senator deliberately attempted to confuse. He repeatedly brought up the verb, "certificated," which according to Dictionary.com means, "to furnish with or authorize by a certificate." or "to issue an official certificate attesting to the training, aptitude, and qualification of." Dino repeatedly said any one or institution that is "certificated for." Honestly, I cannot break down what he was trying to say. There is no meaning to his utterances. I have conferred with several professional minds in various fields from the sciences to English.

"Is certificated for, and he graduates from his training," Dino said. Macmillan dictionary helps us better use the word "certificated:" "a certificated professional person has done all the training they officially need to do. The usual American word is certified."

So you can be certified or certificated. But you cannot be "certificated for." Certificated only applies to the trainee and not trainer as Dino appeared to use the same phrase again as meaning in the second part of his interview as observed on obfuscation analysis: "that the program he went there to attend, whether diploma, whether degree or Ph.D. is certificated for," Dino said. As Certificated means "to furnish with or authorize by a certificate." Therefore "certificated for" will be something like: "to furnish with or authorize by a certificate for." We know what
I am certificated/certified" means, but what does, "I am certificated for" me?

ABU Vice Chancellor "Certificated For" Dino
It appears Dino was referring to a unique situation. His situation. The ABU Vice Chancellor had to come to the National Assembly to "certificated for" him. You are only "certificated for" when you do not have a graduation certificate and have no record of making the necessary credits to graduate, then the institution and its Vice Chancellor has to "certificated for" you on demand.

The entire process so far has brought to disrepute Nigerian tertiary institutions as a whole and the Ahmadu Bello University, ABU Zaria in particular and has also further evidenced the need to scrap the Nigerian Senate, a body that has lost its role in the nation's struggle for progress.

HealthMen's Fertility: Smartphone App Could Allow Men Test Their Fertility At Home by sinorte(op): 7:24am On Mar 23, 2017
Men may soon be able to measure their own sperm count and quality at home, using a smartphone app developed by scientists. In early tests the gadget, designed to clip onto a smartphone, detected abnormal sperm samples with an accuracy of 98%.

In more than 40% of cases where couples struggle to conceive, the underlying fertility issue is linked to sperm abnormalities, but the researchers said that social stigma and lack of access to testing meant than many men never seek evaluation.

Hadi Shafiee, who led the work at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, US, said: “We wanted to come up with a solution to make male infertility testing as simple and affordable... ". The team put the device together using spare parts from DVD and CD drives at a total cost of $4.45. Using the device simply involves drawing semen into a disposable holder that is plugged into one side of the phone attachment, in a similar way to a USB. In seconds, results of the analysis are displayed on the phone’s screen.

The test is an inexpensive smartphone attachment that quickly and accurately evaluates semen samples for fertility testing. Overall, the scientists examined 350 clinic samples and were able to identify those with low sperm counts and inactive or poorly motile sperm with 98% accuracy.

The team behind the device are planning to perform additional testing and will file for approval from the FDA, the US regulator.

HealthBreaking: Body Of Dr. Allwell Orji Who Jumped into Lagos Lagoon Has Been Found by sinorte(op): 12:02pm On Mar 21, 2017
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr Fatai Owoseni confirmed the news to Channels Television.
He said the body was recovered by the Marine Police at the Onikan end of the lagoon. Dr. Orji’s body was found three days after the incident occurred.

Until his death, Dr. Orji worked at the Mount Sinai Hospital in Surulere area of Lagos State, southwest Nigeria. He was said to be on his way to Victoria Island for a meeting with the Medical and Dental Association of Nigeria when the incident happened.

Temporary reports from Police authorities revealed that the deceased had asked his driver to stop the vehicle before jumping across the bridge and into the water.

The Lagos State Emergency Agency (LASEMA) in a statement said there was a distress call of a man who parked his grey coloured Nissan SUV about 4.50 pm around Adekunle and jumped into the Lagos lagoon. The agency said the vehicle and the driver had been taken to Adeniji Adele Police Station for further investigation.

PoliticsNigeria Rejected British Offer To Rescue Seized Chibok Schoolgirls by sinorte(op): 6:22am On Mar 05, 2017
British armed forces offered to attempt to rescue nearly 300 Nigerian schoolgirls kidnapped by the Islamist militant group Boko Haram, but were rebuffed by Goodluck Jonathan, Nigeria’s president at the time, the Observer has learned.

In a mission named Operation Turus, the RAF conducted air reconnaissance over northern Nigeria for several months, following the kidnapping of 276 girls from the town of Chibok in April 2014. “The girls were located in the first few weeks of the RAF mission,” a source involved in Operation Turus told the Observer. “We offered to rescue them, but the Nigerian government declined.”

The girls were then tracked by the aircraft as they were dispersed into progressively smaller groups over the following months, the source added.

Notes from meetings between UK and Nigerian officials, obtained through the Freedom of Information Act, also suggest that Nigeria shunned international offers to rescue the girls. While Nigeria welcomed an aid package and assistance from the US, the UK and France in looking for the girls, it viewed any action to be taken against kidnapping as a “national issue”.

“Nigeria’s intelligence and military services must solve the ultimate problem,” said Jonathan in a meeting with the UK’s then Africa minister, Mark Simmonds, on 15 May 2014.

A document summarising a meeting in Abuja in September 2014 between Nigeria’s national security adviser and James Duddridge MP, former under-secretary of state at the Foreign Office, shows Operation Turus had advanced to the point where rescue options were being discussed. Minutes from a meeting the following month between Major-General James Chiswell and Jonathan hinted at the frustration felt by those trying to prompt some action from Nigeria.

“[President] Jonathan was still focused on ‘platforms’. General Chiswell said again we could offer advice on what equipment might make sense and how weapon systems might be best deployed,” the October 2014 document stated.

The Nigerian government did not respond to a request for comment. The Foreign Office said: “We wouldn’t comment on specific operational details, which are a matter for the Nigerian government and military.”

Jonathan has drawn criticism at home and abroad for a lack of action and perceived apathy over the kidnappings. The government was slow to mount any response in the weeks after the girls were taken. The governor of Borno, Kashim Shettima, also publicly criticised Jonathan for failing to even call him or any other state official for 19 days after the kidnappings. Jonathan also hit out at the worldwide #BringBackOurGirls campaign, branding it a “manipulation” of the victims of the attack.

Foreign AffairsTrump Accuses Obama Of Orchestrating Protest Against Him by sinorte(op): 3:56pm On Feb 28, 2017
Donald Trump has accused former president Barack Obama and his “people” of organizing the demonstrations that have roiled city streets, airports and town halls.
In an interview with Fox and Friends, which aired on Tuesday morning in the US, the president also suggested Obama and his allies were behind the leaks of classified information from the White House to the press.

There is no evidence that the former president has had any hand in either activity.

Trump was asked by the Fox interviewer whether he believed Obama was involved in organizing protests, including the recent spate of raucous Republican town hall meetings, and “if he is, is that a violation of the so-called unsaid president’s code?”

“No, I think he is behind it. I also think it’s just politics. That’s just the way it is,” Trump said in the pre-taped interview, a portion of which was released on Monday night.

Trump continued: “You never know what’s exactly happening behind the scenes … I think that President Obama’s behind it because his people are certainly behind it.”

Republicans and rightwing media outlets have accused the former president of directing the demonstrations though a group called Organizing for Action (OFA), a progressive group that grew out of Obama’s presidential campaigns. It is chaired by Jim Messina, who was Obama’s deputy chief of staff during his first term and his campaign manager during the 2012 election.

We want to cover the resistance. We need your help
Read more
As a nonprofit, the group cannot advocate for a political candidate, though its agenda aligns closely with the Democratic party and Obama’s key policy positions. There is no evidence the former president is personally involved with the group.

Last week, Republicans faced angry constituents in town halls and district offices around the country. The action follows protests that erupted at airports in response to the Trump administration’s travel ban, which closed the US borders to people from seven predominantly Muslim countries.

In the interview with Fox, Trump accused Obama and his allies of possible involvement in the leaks of information from the White House.

“Some of the leaks possibly come from that group,” Trump said in the interview.

“You know, some of the leaks – which are really very serious leaks because they’re very bad in terms of national security – but I also understand that’s politics and it will probably continue.”

It is extremely rare for a former president to criticize his successor while in office.

Last month, Obama spoke out against Trump’s travel ban. In a statement, a spokesman said Obama was “heartened by the level of engagement taking place in communities around the country” and that the former president “fundamentally disagrees with the notion of discriminating against individuals because of their faith or religion”.

In the Fox interview, Trump further disparaged Obama’s immigration policy, saying the former president had “deported a lot of people”, in contrast to his own administration’s stepped-up deportation measures, which were focusing on “a very bad group”.

Earlier this month, in Texas, a woman was arrested by immigration officials at a courthouse where she was seeking protection from domestic violence. In a separate case, a Salvadoran woman fighting deportation was removed by immigration officials from a Texas hospital where she was being treated for a brain tumor and returned to a detention centre.

In response to a question about whether there was a method behind his recent spate of Twitter attacks, Trump reiterated his online criticism of John McCain. The senator had been critical of the Trump administration’s operation in Yemen last month, which resulted in the death of a US Navy Seal.

“I felt badly when a young man dies and John McCain said it was a bad mission … I thought it was inappropriate that he goes to foreign soil and he criticizes our government,” Trump said on Fox, cautioning the Arizona senator to “be careful”.

TravelKenya To Start Direct U.S Flights After Security Clearance by sinorte(op): 10:25am On Feb 24, 2017
Kenyan airlines have been granted security clearance by U.S. authorities for direct flights to the United States, Kenya's minister of transport said on Thursday, having improved infrastructure at Nairobi's main airport.

Kenya now has Category 1 security and safety status and hopes that will allow it to boost trade with the U.S. and increase its share of American tourists, James Macharia said.

"Kenya Airways will immediately apply for approval to codeshare with U.S. airlines while concurrently pursuing approval for direct flights," he told a news conference.

The government has a stake in flag carrier Kenya Airways and has recently finished building a new terminal and plans to spend more on Jomo Kenyatta International airport.

Kenya has suffered frequent attacks by Islamist militants from neighboring Somalia in recent years.

Despite a late goal from Jamie Vardy on Wednesday night that ensured they head into the second leg of their Champions League last-16 tie against Sevilla with a 2-1 deficit, it is understood that the 65-year-old was informed of the decision on his return from Spain.

“This has been the most difficult decision we have had to make in nearly seven years since King Power took ownership of Leicester City,” said a statement from vice chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha. “But we are duty-bound to put the club’s long-term interests above all sense of personal sentiment, no matter how strong that might be.

“Claudio has brought outstanding qualities to his office. His skilful management, powers of motivation and measured approach have been reflective of the rich experience we always knew he would bring to Leicester City. His warmth, charm and charisma have helped transform perceptions of the Club and develop its profile on a global scale. We will forever be grateful to him for what he has helped us to achieve.

“It was never our expectation that the extraordinary feats of last season should be replicated this season. Indeed, survival in the Premier League was our first and only target at the start of the campaign. But we are now faced with a fight to reach that objective and feel a change is necessary to maximise the opportunity presented by the final 13 games.”
