lastpage: Is your Property in a waterlogged environment or adequately dry land? Is it a rental property or a private family Building? I am asking because the solutions are different for each of these sotuations Have you considered using a Bio-Digester type Solution?
Lastpage!
The property is on an adequately dry land and it's a private family buidling.
I'm about digging my soakaway (6ft by 6ft) and septic tank (10ft by 10ft). The two will probably go depths of 6ft and 8ft respectively. I plan to go DIY.
Could someone please help me with a schematic of the type and how the iron bars should be arranged for casting for both the pillars and slabs.
Please how possible is this? My POP man measured about 150m² as the area for POP while the tiler measured 400m². Apart from 5 bathrooms and laundry, and also kitchen that will have their floors and walls fully tiled, every other area covered by POP will also have their floors tiled.
I was just thinking there's so much gap between the square meters presented by the two artisans.
n3xt: Check online for Centurion Automatic Gate Operator. I know it’s everywhere now. I’m using D5 and it should be around 300k now. I think D5 can carry up to 500kg gate.
I bought 180k about 8 years ago from Nevosys (also a nairalander) but he’s no longer in town.
I never use local gate roller installed by my welder. Nevosys gave me a very good gate roller (imported) which makes the gate operation very smooth. My 2 year old can easily open the gate without help in manual mode.
There are other add-on modules that can be purchased at extra cost too (GSM module for remote entry, infrared beam etc).
n3xt: To be honest, I think your Nigeria is kinda different.
I’ve been using automatic gate operator for almost 8 years now, the only maintenance I ever did was to change my battery.
Guess the amount. It’s just 7k! My gatehouse is just a complete waste.
I use motion sensors too and automatic sprinklers. These things don’t just pack up. Even when they do, just go to Ogunpa market if you’re in Ibadan or Oshodi if you’re in Lagos, those guys can fix anything.
The pics below shows different types of inspection chambers.
The conventional method of using brick, cement and slab (Pic. 1) and then there’s the PVC inspection chamber (Pic. 2 & 4) and of course there’s precast manholes (Pic. 3) too.
If you ask a plumber why he’s using brick, his explanation will be “that’s how it’s done” or “it’s the best way.”
Now ask the same person what can the brick type of inspection chamber do that a PVC type can’t do. Also considering the time, effort and the installation costs, a PVC inspection chamber is a cheaper alternative and lot more reliable option for modern builds.
It’s pretty easier to install PVC inspection chambers.
You don’t have to break slabs to inspect the chamber in case there’s blockage. You just need to open the lid and that’s it. No stress or sweat.
Thank you so much. You'll make a great teacher.
Now still on this lesson on chambers, can we explore the uses? How many am I supposed to be looking at in the building?
Kindly note that I have two waste pipes running separately from the first floor, and then another two different rest rooms again on the ground floor.
My concern is that the water piping for the ground floor has not been done. The plumber is saying the pipes supplying water on the floor will be laid when the tiling is about to be done so that it doesn't get exposed for so long and get broken from legwork.
Regarding the windows, main entrance and exit doors, I understand those will have to be installed just about when the plastering is taking place. Would that be correct?
topsy23: Since the first fix of Electrical, plumbing and AC has been completed, the next stage is should plastering of the entire house. Follow by; Window/burglary/ Main entrance door and kitchen door Next is Cabling for all the outlet - POP/ceiling -Screening -Tiling -Installation of electrical and plumbing fittings -Final painting
Please I need someone to help me with steps/stages to follow next in my building construction.
To the glory of God, we've completed the roofing and also concluded the piping for the plumbing and electrical works. I suppose plastering should follow next.
Since I'm overseeing the rest of the project myself, I need to know what what other tasks should follow sequentially until the house is fit to live in.
Please how much will be good to offer masons for the plastering of a 4 bedroom duplex?
Kindly note that it's a relatively small building built on a little less than half a plot piece of land. I have received various quotations ranging from 350k to 450k.
I have a preference for our brothers from Cotonou as I understand they are the best at this kind of work.
BeuHarry: What qualification(s) are you trying to evaluate? If it is only B.Sc, please use the waiting time to get one more certificate that can be evaluated.
What of your wife? Hope she is evaluating her credentials too. If she is younger and has a second degree/diploma/certificate, she could become the PA.
If both of us are above 30, you may need to consider learning French to attempt French.
My advise is to get other aspects ready so you can move forward the moment your UI evaluation comes through. This journey can be very long o...
Simulate your points, compare with recent draws and see what your prospects are. You have a nice IELTS result by the way!
Thank you for your detailed response.
I would be evaluating my B.Sc. I am actually running an MBA programme at the moment. It would have been my last semester now, but Covid-19 pandemic has stalled the progress. I'm not even sure yet when the programme would now be completed.
My wife would be evaluating her credentials too. But that one has also been stalled by NASU/ASUU strike and the pandemic. She has two degrees, though. However, her IELTS score was not as good as mine. So I'm not sure if she'd still be good as the PA.
You mentioned that we should "get other aspects ready" while we wait for UI to resume. Please what are these other aspects? I'm a near-novice in this journey. The insights and enlightenment you provide will come handy.
I'll try and be brief. I need your guidance please.
I and my wife sat for the IELTS in January 2020 (solely for the purpose of immigration to Canada) and I had the following result: L8.5 R8.5 W8.0 S7.0.
My plan was to do my credentials evaluation with WES, but NASU in University of Ibadan was on strike in February so I couldn't process my transcript. While I was hoping that NASU would call off its strike soonest, the national body of ASUU went on strike too, and shortly after that, COVID-19 brought the whole world to a standstill, momentarily.
Without me being able to process my transcript and put it out for evaluation (due to the raging pandemic and the ongoing strike action at the University of Ibadan), I will like to be enlightened on what steps I can still take regarding my intended immigration to Canada. Are there any other usefulness for my test score?

The impeachment trial of President Donald Trump will be an unusual event in more ways than one.
It will mark only the third time in American history that a President faces a Senate impeachment trial. The trial is expected to interfere with -- if not halt entirely -- the usual business of the Senate and senators will have to comply with a set of rules that are not usually enforced and that may test their patience.
Official decorum guidelines for the trial released by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer's offices say that senators must refrain from speaking while the case is being presented.
In addition to the mandatory silence, the official decorum guidelines say that electronic devices, including cell phones, are not permitted in the Senate chamber during the trial.
Republican Sen. John Cornyn of Texas commented that it will "be a new experience for a lot of my colleagues (to) not be able to talk and not be able to consult our email or text messages. But we'll live through it, it'll be alright," adding, "it's obviously a very serious and grave matter so we should be paying attention."
Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer warned lawmakers weeks ago that electronics won't be allowed. Schumer "basically said, just be aware that you won't have your devices, and it'll just be a totally different environment," Casey said, adding, "The rule is no devices on the floor generally, but it will be strictly enforced."
Lisa Murkowski, an Alaska Republican, praised the ban on phones as "beautifully old fashion." "I'm glad that we can put these devices down, I'm glad we will be sitting in our chairs, I'm glad that we are going to be focused on what's in front of us at that time. I think it's important, it's beautifully old fashion, and I think we should stick to it," she said.
Senators are also expecting to work on Saturdays during the trial, which will be a change of pace for lawmakers typically able to leave Washington at the end of the week, sometimes as early as Thursday afternoon, to get back to their home states for the weekends. Any work that gets done on Saturdays, though, will likely mean the trial speeds along quicker than it would if the Senate kept to its usual work week schedule.
post=85693287: MTN has the money to pay now. They make the largest profit in our country. And it is not as if their service is top notch. WHY the revoke?!
Because MTN Nigeria does everything by the book and are not defaulting in any way.
These are the kind of people that would not make Sanwo-Olu. Rather than tell the governor some home truths that will push him to performance, they choose to sing him an undeserved praise.
This present administration has been a colossal failure thus far.
