Inas much as I support the protest, I think some things are unwarranted. Why burn banks, houses, shops. Why burn your Obas palace Whats his offence ? Not talking ? This is getting out of hand. Its unlike the Yorubas that respect their elders a lot. What is it with burning NPA office ? Even the TVC that was burnt down, do you know how many innocent people earn a living from that place. Lets not decorate Evil all in the name of protest. |

saajus: It may look as if you've lost a lot of money, but it's not true. It's a learning curve. Keep acquiring knowledge at the cheapest rate you can find them, and make sure you are doing the right thing.
FX trading: It's risky, uncertain, and not for the faint-hearted people. If you find a working strategy, you could recoup all the money that you lost. The reason why 95 - 98% of Nigerians can never make it from Fx is greed and impatience. Barely will you see any Nigerian that will accept 1% - 2% per month strategy, almost all of them want to double their account monthly. I understand their plights because most can't afford to start with huge capital. Someone with a $500k balance in his Fx account can easily settle for a 2% per month strategy, but someone who even borrowed the $200 in his account won't accept that. Our youths find it hard to study or research. I would rather use 2 or 3 yrs to research and know what I'm doing than rush into it and burn my fingers. Losses PTSD won't let you go back even if you eventually find a holy grail strategy
For now, don't throw money at the problem. Do an honest assessment of yourself before you continue this journey. Start with things that don't require huge capital and scale-up. Things like AdSense, Admobs, products reselling (referral), excellent social media presence, etc. You nailed it. Greed and Impatience are the major causes of losses in Forex. The average Nigerian youth can afford to fund his/her trading account with $100 - $200 Max. The Forex market is built in a way that you can't cheat the system. If you try to use a Lot too high for your capital, you would crash. The big guys with huge capital smile everyday because if they make %2 profit daily it will be reasonable compared to someone trading with $100 |

Career › Re: Do Not Accept A Banking Job - I Refused To Listen by sircrabo: 3:22pm On Aug 04, 2020 |
FellaG: Hi all, moderator pls help me push to fp. I need good advise like badly.
I joined the banking system about a decade ago. Young and naive. I got carried away by thier flashy suits and top tech phones. The moment I entered I realized all these was a scam. Those suits you see are being paid for, installmentally for 3months. The phones in 6 months etc Bankers are one of the least paid professions today considering the amount of time they put Into thier work (7am to even 10pm) and the level of risk they are subjected to. The sad thing about working for a Nigerian bank is once u leave, u realize that you can't use the skill elsewhere. You are technically back to square one.
This is my case. I spent the last decade of my life working in a financial institution as a teller. Quite wastful considering the fact that I know nothing other than counting money for customers. I worked for 7days in a week. 10yrs passed In a flash. No time to even get additional qualifications.
Before joining, my friends adviced me against it, but coming from a humble background the need to get independent fast was more appealing. Why I stayed so long is a topic for another day (have you heard of employment fraud) anyway, I left last week and I can say I am happy I finally got a chance and time to learn any new trending knowledge and I am prepared to start afresh. I will be 35 this year. With a background in construction mgt I thought of copywritting, digital marketing etc but I love to learn technical stuff.. Pls advise if any. I know IT related careers will sell here and abroad.
I've thought of programming, cloud tech, data tech etc.
Please I need your advice, which path should I follow now that at the age of 40 I will regain all the time I lost in the banking field.
I can get an MSc but I want a high income paying skill that the likes of the oil majors wouldn't mind employing even at my age or if I am to be self employed I can be distinctive in that area.
Niaralanders, pls help a brother While learning a Digital Skill, Learn an I.T Business skill as well cause at your age there's no time to start mastering programming. Before you will learn it to a point where you will stand out, be ready to spend up to 2 - 3 years. No one will hire you for " HELLO WORLD " Applications Since you have experience in financial sector, you can learn Forex Trading as an I.T business, and Graphics/Web Design as I.T skill. I.T business and I.T skill is slightly different These two if learnt properly can give you double of what you earned monthly as a banker. trade forex, Use the graphics learnt on freelance platforms. Programming is fun but will take much of your time. |

Nfavour: Saynotocultism I really need your help on this. Am a Student of FUTO doing odd jobs just to survive. i got a job in a Security Firm in School though its a contract job, that is we are not being paid directly by FUTO but through our Director and since Febuary up till now, we haven't been paid with endless promises of this week that week. So sometime last Month, I met a Colleague of mine who is also a Student for aid, he told me that he could procure a loan for me but that it was frm some Aiye Lords in School and that i would pay triple the amount and b4 14th july. i agreed and collected 20k to pay 60k with the hope that we would be paid b4 then but the problem is that we haven't been been paid and i have no other means to pay back. on the 14th i was called by 1 of the Guys for the Money and he threatened to storm the School with his men the next day and my supposed Helper(Colleague) is even the 1 that threatened me the most because he knows where I live and that the money tops 2k daily, i had to run in fear. Why you take 20K to pay 60K? from Aiyes for that matter. What do you want the Op to do for you? Be careful o. what you did isn't Wise |

Maxcollins042: Can staying online on mobile using a browser be equated to a desktop's? Yes staying online on Mobile phone browser is also better than the Mobile App online status. The issue is; will you be able to be refreshing the page every now and then ? Will you be able to install page refreshers on your mobile phone browser (to handle page refreshing for you) ? You can also choose to be refreshing your browser by yourself every 3 - 5 minutes. Desktop online activity is still the best. |
