Dates? Don’t mind 'em as long as they aren’t first dates.

I say shoot me dead before I go on a first date!

Why on earth would anyone wanna go on one?

The Conversation  is Awkward! Airs . . . put on.

The meal. . . money wasting coz she’s too cute to eat more than one spinach leaf

He. . . Well who knows what the heck he is thinking

Because you can’t get pass the smug smile on his face

Both sit there building unrealistic expectation of each other.

First dates? Why. . . When we all know everything you see and hear is all lies?

Take me to the arcade, show me how good you are

At dodging alien bullets with greasy fingers (From Pretzels)

While sipping Sprite (no ice please) from a paper cup

And who knows where the night might end. . .  https://l.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/emoticons7/5.gif

And this is NO LIE!

@Tha_Dude

Local time + Date Registered + Last Active% x 1/poster's message /intentions/General statistics on Nairaland.
Wow! Okay, I gotta say I am completely and thoroughly bowled over by this. Honestly, I find forensic science very fascinating. You should see me glued to the TV when they are showing those cop shows using forensic science. . . LOL.

I have just one question. . . .

How is intention calculated?

Am I right in assuming you get that from the general stats which shows how long the person is being online, what topics they post on etc.

If you go based on how long they’ve been online, Do you put into account those people who really don’t have time to surf the net like others? People who aren’t really into all the shenanigans some of us use to pass time?

If you go based on the topics on Nairaland, did you put into account the sections, sub-sections? There are 3 major sections on Nairaland – Technology, Entertainment and General Discussion. Technology has about 6 sub-categories, Entertainment  - 9 and General Discussion – 15.

Some sub categories have child boards.  For instance, The Romance section of the General Discussion has the Dating and meeting Zone and The Sexuality forum. The culture section of the General Discussion has Tribalism, Secesomething and Another something. The webmaster section of the Technology section has the web design and hosting advert. The music and Radio section from the Entertainment section had Rap Battles and Music Business. These are not all the sub-categories with baby boards. . . there are still more of them.

Did you devise a formula to measure what intentions people who visit these various sections have? If you did, how does it go into the Detecting formula? Below is an example of what I am expecting to see.

Based on his general stat, Lagbaja visits the rap section more than any section. Thus his intention is to learn rap (keeping in mind this is just one of many reasons. . .  for instance, maybe he doesn’t want to learn rap, he just wants to see what others are doing or maybe he is very good with raps and he wants to show off or he could be an up and coming music producer looking for the next big rapper. I mean it’s hard to know what people ‘s intentions without asking the, right but we’ll just ignore that part for now)

Anyway, The other variables for Lagbaja are as follows

Local time is 4hrs ahead of the server time.

Last activity was 30 mins ago.

First post was on the Rap section, he responded to someone’s rap with “Tight Lyrics. I like it”

Total time online – 3 days 11 hrs 33 mins.

Average Post per day – 2.4

Registered on the 10 of June 2008.

Lagbaja is based in________________________

How does your formula handle people with the following. . .

1) More than one interest in the same section?

2) One interest in one section and one interest in another section?

3) More than one interest in two different section and an interest in a child board of a third section?

4) Did you put into account how a particular section interest people from certain parts of the world? For instance, if someone shows and interest in fashion does it means they are probably from Paris, Milan, London or New York (these are the major cities dedicated to fashion)? How do we narrow it down to just one?

5) How does this formula take into account people who change their time offset? Take another looksee at my profile for my local time (I didn’t register in Nigeria and then move to wherever it is with my local time)

6) Are you Seun? https://l.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/emoticons7/3.gif

Oh my, so much for just one question. https://l.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/emoticons7/5.gif

I would hate to think you pick and choose whose case you get on. Yep, that would be too obvious. . .  even for you. grin grin

Tha_dude:
BIG DISCOVERY ON JOHN.
John was last here at today 12:45pm
As at when i check his local time it was:-
  John's Local time:   December 13, 2008, 08:55:19 PM
  Tha_dude local time:  December 13, 2008 , 02:55:46 PM

I live on the east coast (Michigan) of America so we use same time in Canada and my local time was 6hrs behind John's local time.I know Nigeria is 6hrs ahead of east coast time during winter and 5hrs during summer. Guess wht??, it's winter. that explains why he is 6hrs ahead of me.
This means John isnt in Canada he is in Nigeria dam why didnt anyone thinking about checking his local time.
If you also observe his postings no phone numbers or address and yet he expects someone to send him money with one email as his contact.
@John, i warned you if u heard shut ur mouth up initially when ur scam was glaring, your ass wont have been exposed to be as stinking as hell.
@ Tha_Dude
Excellent investigative work there. https://l.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/emoticons7/41.gif Yeah. . . . it's just too bad it doesn’t mean jack seeing as we have the option of changing our local time in the profile.  https://l.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/emoticons7/40.gif

Take a looky look at my profile, my local time matches the Nigerian local time. . . but I ain’t nowhere close to Nigeria and no, no, I am not a flying witch (even though it would be so cool). It’s because I’m using the default server time, now if I want to change it to my real local time, all I have to do I use the time offset. So while I believe there is something eyebrow rising about JOHN316, I don’t think you evidence holds water. grin grin

Ya gotta go back to the drawing board. . . Dude! https://l.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/emoticons7/65.gif

Goodness! Are we so used to being lied to, we tell others to tread carefully with the truth? And what in the world is up with this mentality that one must have an ulterior motive to do anything? I supposed if the OP had declared from the onset that he is doing this because he is about to start his own church…it will be okay, right? Yeah…because no one on earth can possibly be motivated by concern for his fellow brethren at heart. https://l.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/emoticons7/29.gif

You are supposed to pay your tithes before your mortgage or car loans or school loans or any other loans you need to pay. A lot of people had the same problem, thank Goodness our own pastor had the good sense to bring in a Christian financial expert to help us understand the Principles of Tithing i.e the Hows, Whats and Whens now the problem is slowly becoming a thing of the past.

Sure, some people are on the verge of losing their homes because they are behind on their payments and their cars are on the repossession list but as long as the church gets their 10%, all is well!

Blessed be the Church with wise pastors.

TV/MoviesRe: Golden Globe 2008 Nominees by SisiJinx: 3:06pm On Dec 16, 2008
TCCBB looks good, very, very good but I can’t help but think Pitt’s nomination for it is gba jen simi nomination coz he was overlooked for Babel and AOJJ.  It is easy to dismiss his performance in TCCBB by saying it’s all in the graphics. I wish he was also nominated for Burn After Reading…supporting actor. Now THAT was some fine acting. . . soooo unlike any of his other popular characters – Rusty Ryan (my husband) and Tyler Durden (the guy I will cheat on Rusty with. . . Just once a year ooh coz too much Tyler is bad for the soul, besides that’s probably how long a relationship with him lasts)

Anyway. . . Yeah if whatshispsychoface can get nominated for showing his face for 30 secs in Tropic Thunder then Pitt deserved one for BAR. On the other hand, seeing as Heath Ledger is winning that category. . . I guess it’s okay.

Actress – It goes without saying that I want Jolie to win but they’ll prolly give it to Merly Streep or Anne Hathaway. The former coz she’s old and they think the curtains are slowly coming down for her and the latter. . . well who doesn’t love a good comeback story? After the crap with her criminal boyfriend, watch them try to “there there” her by giving her the Globe.

I can’t believe Clint Eastwood was not nominated for Director! First nominating whatshiscuckoohead then this. . . Yep the people are losing!

For TV, I really don’t care who wins.

you will never know all the truths about a person until you marry him/her and live with them under the same roof.

have you read second class citizen, a quasi autobiography by buchi emecheta? he married some dude named francis in nigeria.
the dude took off to england for further studies . she joined him a year or so later, and that was when the guy showed color - beating, unable to hold a job, sticking to every chick that batted her eyes at him. .

she put up with it for years - they had five kids, before she eventually left his cheating, wifebeating, lazy ass.

i guess by your standards buchi emecheta isnt a 'true nigerian woman'

A world where we can finally do away with technology coz if you really think about it, it is the too the devil is using to dehumanize and introduce more ills to the society.

Don't get it twisted guys, no one is against people posting, requesting and providing VIN numbers. We've seen the sticky thread about VIN numbers, we've read the many, many, many threads about VIN numbers, except some people think the rest of us are foolish, there is no reason for Mr. Igwe's continual harassment. A seller who doesn't supply VIN number has only himself to blame when he loses business. A buyer who decides to buy a car without requesting VIN number has only himself to blame.

In the beginning of his "campaign" there is no doubt Mr. Igwe got the support he needed but like anyone who let's other people patting of his back get to his head, he is taking too far. A word is enough for the wise, they say. . . Well, I am of the belief that the men and women who have made the decision spend their OWN money to buy cars online are wise enough to know what they will and will not take. We don't need Mr. Igwe derailing the threads with oni se n ko lekun rantings!

Every seller on Nairaland is bearing is father's name! If he chooses to be unscrupulous, it is HIS name that will be damaged. Shikena!

Hmmm, okay. . . it is obvious to me that some people have been doing something else with the VINS they get. I mean why else would Igwe1 feel the need to tell us to check the VINS WE ASKED FOR in CARFAX and AutoCheck?

Look I am no car expert so I'm willing to leave room for the possibility that there are some things about cars I don't know, things like

1) How sweet VIN numbers are. Those babies are so tasty some people can't resist popping those numbers in their mouths before you can say "No don't"

2) Or maybe people now use the VIN Numbers they had the FORESIGHT to REQUEST for wallpaper and carpet.

3) Could it be that some having been writing the VINs on a piece of paper and slipping it under their pillows hoping information about the car will transmit straight into their heads as they sleep?

Help me out car experts, What else can VIN be used for? Why else would one request a VIN if it isn't to check on it? Why do we need someone to tell us to check the VINS we had enough sense to ask for in the first place with Carfax and Autocheck?

Me confusing oooh!! huh huh huh huh huh huh huh huh huh huh huh huh huh huh huh huh
