ifyeez: In Lagos state they all ve different charges for different authorities, Lasma once held me sometime last year, for seat belt offense, i ignored anything he said about negotiations, coz am like WTF, so bcoz of seat belt u want me to pay sort you in my street, the mistake I made was going to there office, on getting to there office, I was thinking it’s same price for FRSC this guy posted above, that’s seat belt offense 2k, LASMA own is 20k then you will go for training 10k then everyday ur car spends in there office you will pay 1k. Everything I paid was 35k, not to talk of time wasting, my car spent 3 days there, for 2k I could ve given the guy there and left, now I paid 35k since then no office again. heheheh.... Dem don blow you cos you don't know their functions.... How can LASTMA charge u cos of seat belts? Wonders. Ok... Before i started uber, me and my cousin where going to tejuosho market... Then she didn't want to use the seat belt again cos she was pressed. Ok LASTMA showed up.... He asked us to park. Then my coz ask why? He said why didn't she use the seat belt? My coz yelled at him- "is that ur job? Don't you know the meaning of LASTMA? Its lagos traffic management authority ok. Ur job is to make traffic flow. Are you road safety officer? You can't do the job thats not yours? Blah blah blah" ... I was just looking at how the LASTMA guy chickened out.. All he could say was "all these small small girls, if una don go school small na so una go dey claim right". |

chillex8: Not particularly so. This robot from Uber pairs riders to drivers randomly. All the factors listed are feasible reasons for low request.
But the most important is that a rider that previously rated a driver 1star can never be paired to that driver. Even if the driver has the highest activity score, ratings, best network, best GPs, ios 10 upwards.
P.S. This is for Uber. Don't know how taxify operates their market. on taxify i think closeness to the rider too matters. If i am in horizon estate with 85% activity rate, i would get the ride coming next and not the guy with 99% activity rate that is on the express way close to the estate |

Romeo3: You saw it because uber doesn't show you the amount of cars around you the way taxify does. But what you do not know is that there even more uber cars around you than taxify.
Maintaining a higher activity score gives you an edge over those around you. Have you ever asked yourself why the request goes to who it goes to, even though there are 10 drivers in that vicinity? Activity score. I am still skeptical about the activity score though. Mine is high anyway Ok, there was this taxify driver i met at joel ogunaike where we park and chill. He ask me to request him. I ask for what? He said he was one trip away to qualify for the morning bonus and it was just 7 minutes to 10am then. But i didn't have the rider app then, so i couldn't. I just told him to wait, the next ride might come to him. Then i check his activity score: 92% mine then was 89%. So i believed he was going to get the next ride. Within 4 minutes while we were talking and waiting, my taxify app started screaming.... Oh f*ck! How come i got it. Chai he missed the bonus. cos i still delayed till like 2 minutes pat 10am before leaving there. Then i started wondering, was it just a random thing or activity score now? Or was it that taxify did ojoro so he wouldn't get that last ride at that die minute? Well i don't know sha |

I went straight to greenfield, rider entered no destination, I asked him where he was going to he said, his just going to greenfield gate to enter keke, I almost cried coz the bad road in that estate was madt, then driving that distance to meet him one night i was at lekki conservation centre and i got a request. Asked the rider what her position was,she said domino pizza ajah. The one near thomas estate right? She said yes. Ok where are we going tonight. She said thomas estate. Wtf! Then i said thomas estate is just around u, u can just stroll in. She said it's not a trekable distance blah blah blah. I just told her: i cannot come, cos where you are is so far from me and i am considering the distance i would cover to reach you. Could you cancel and request again? Trip A Rider: good afternoon bro, where are you? Me : i am at ogudu GRA, i see you are at China Town. Could you confirm that? Rider : yes, but bros that place you are is kinda far from me. Me: i will be coming right away and possibly reach there within 7mins Rider : No no no, drive to the ogudu road exit to the road that leads to 3rdmb. Me: ok, on my way already
End trip. Paid extra 500
This kind of rider makes work easy for you.
Trip B Rider: bros howfa Me: cool good afternoon Rider: na wa for you o bro, you have not even moved since you got my request. Me: i was checking the fastest route to get to you, and was about to dial your number before you called. Rider : what are you checking? The address is there. And why would you call? What are we going to be talking about. Me; i have to confirm your exact pick up before moving. I am at adetokunbo ademola, i see you are at oko awo street is that correct? Rider: yes. (2mins later) Rider : no wonder, you be big man na, 2 phones, see pimping, this is Ferrari corolla o. Anyway lets go. 5 star already. (slept off and was snoring till we got to ikeja)
A very funny rider
Trip C Rider: we are stopping at two places in surulere. Luth and akerele Me: ok ma Rider: you seem so calm, are you happy today? Me: yes ma (it was history about awolowo, azikiwe and the rest. I had to open my ears wide, and still concentrate on the driving. Would have been easier if she sat at the front)
Trip D Rider: thank you so much, you can stop here. Let me get down and walk home. I don't want you to drive through that street so you don't damage your car. It's not really good. Me : Ok ma, thank you and have a good nite. Rider : it a card trip you know? Me: yes ma Rider: oh, just take this (200) and buy a bottle of coke.
Trip E (somewhere is oworosoki. Really bad inner streets) Me: can you see a red car? I think i am on the street. Rider: keep coming down, i can see you, keep coming Me: do cars pass here? I don't think my car will make it climbing the hill back. (cant be revving high, burning fuel to go up a rough elevation) Rider: of course you can Me: could you please join me here since i am close (5mins later) Rider: (breathing heavily) oh, you Stressed me. Me: i am sorry, i just couldn't go down there. You know sometimes you have to help your driver. Some terrains are not motorable. You could have used bike to come up here. Rider:well it ok. We can go. Unilag Me: (with red eyes) Alright. Bariga will definitely be locked around that market. Should we use other routes, longer but faster though. Rider: hope they won't charge me much? no no, lets still passed through bariga, i usually pay around 1k passing through bariga. We could be lucky, it could be free. Me(chai) ok
Wasted about 70mins for a 5km ride. After traveling like 4km to pick him from gbagada

mployer: Uber is truly ridiculously cheap.
A distance that I had to beg kabukabu drivers for N1, 500 after clubbing is what I paid N650 for with Uber. In air conditioned toyota corolla. yea, true. But that yellow taxi drivers wait or Hustle for passengers. But uber driver will chill in a strategic position and request comes in. Less stress. Then he gets more rides and covers the yellow taxi driver's earnings multiple times. |

On another topic...
Since we all know internet stability is usually a function of location in lagos.
Drivers please share your experience, which is the most consistent internet service provider that's stable in all parts of lagos and most suitable for e-hailing? 9mobile and Mtn. I have a dual sim tecno i put them, and serves as a modem. Which also serves as the call phone. All 4G LTE enabled. My Samsung is for the apps and navigation and social media. I switch between both lines depending on their responsiveness at different areas, especially when waiting for requests. |

Updated my app yesterday o, taxify. Everything going smoothly and jejely. Just now i dropped a rider at omole 11 from marina, ended the trip and the thing showed 1400. She was like wow! But there was traffic at oworosoki na? I said it's an app issue, she should pay thw 1400 and i will review the trip later, and see what's wrong. I was still at her gate doing the fare review. Then i click on the ride on the trips history, 2730 displayed. Immediately i called her and told her i just got the actual fare. She was inside already and ask me to send my account details so she do a transfer. Within 5mins it was done.... Make una warn taxify o, what nonsense

olaboy1: Who says I see myself better and above anyone. I am the most humble person you would ever come across, if you go back the pages, there was a time I solicited for low working hours for drivers (8-10hrs max), but many people countered it citing the poor economic conditions in Nigeria cannot be compared with the west.
I look out for both drivers and partners. Drivers should earn decent income and partners should be able to break even on the invested capital. Drivers are at risk on the job, so are partners. Some partners do 2-3 jobs abroad just to raise the capital for the business and rather than been grateful many drivers sound rather harsh and ungrateful.
How many jobs has Nigeria government created for you? what’s the poverty level in the land? What’s the average income of people with masters degree in Nigeria?
I say it again be grateful that investors are putting their money in the business to gainfully employ Nigerians.
Ok let me come out clean so you have an idea. I have several investments and brokers in 3 continents, and I can conveniently afford to put 200 cars on Uber. I can decide to leave my money on foreign soil, but when I visit Nigeria I feel so ashamed of the poverty level and want to contribute my own quota into nation building, but I am not going to do that if the terrain doesn’t protect my hard earned capital of 18yrs.
Now the question is am I losing anything by staking my capital abroad....absolutely NO. One of my British brokers knows the Nigerian terrain so much that I marvel at his business acumen.
I don’t see how partners have been greedy so far, when I see I will call them out also. But a driver thinking he can rake in major part of the money for himself only doesn’t sit down well with me. i do 35k weekly, 30k for myself. But occasionally when i need extra, i sacrifice my comfort and get between 40-50k for myself. I don't joke with my sleep, anyhow. I dont understand the idea of who earns more or who erans less. The 35k rental is the only constant thing for me, provided the car is ok. And yes, i have gone home with 15k before, one funny week like that.. Make una easy o, jeje! |
