Hi all, so I flew british Airways on the 24th of December to Elpaso through dallas. I made it a point to come and give back as I didn't last year. Got carried away and overwhelmed with motherhood then when I came in June to have my baby girl. Journey then was also to Elpaso with klm through dallas.
So, I got to dallas on Christmas day, used the automated check in counter and declared dairy product cause I had peak 123. Went to the cbp officer and he asked what I was here for. Told him vacation and childbirth. Asked how much I had, told him. Next he scribbles something on my paper and tells me I will explain in details to the officer he will be passing me on to. I travelled with my 18 month old by the way. Was first of all directed to agriculture, they scanned my bags n let me go without searching it. Then directed me to another officer who asked y I was sent to him. The agricultural guy was like, he guesses the officer felt I needed a little more attention. Note, I wasn't sent to any room, it was just another counter. The guy asked for my zero balance, and doctors correspondence, counted my money, and said you are good to go. Merry Christmas. All this took about 10 minutes in all. Trying to settle down now. Igetam, how far Na.

@ modath, it's OK.... Just don't think it's worth letting anyone vex u on a faceless thread. You would have made more impact by jumping and passing, aka totally ignoring the comment., after all your target was getting lady g to help out n not worry359. Is all good.... smiley

@ sucre26, with the American embassy, responses may differ, but I know someone who renewed via Dropbox, while still on a payment plan earlier on this year, and she was given the visa without being called in for an interview. Though, in her case, she used the visa foe a vacation after childbirth, then went ahead to renew. I feel they understand that emergencies may come up, but as long as you are keeping up with your payment, they Shouldn't have an issue. But then again, different strokes for different folks.
@modath, from the post by worry359, I could tell he was teasing. He really was just trying to get lady g to reply him. That's my 2 kobo sha....
I think before tearing people apart, sometimes we need to reread posts, and try to see them from a positive point of view, and not always from the negative side.

It's a budget hotel really. Nothing fancy. Right now I am on a budget. I stayed there, wasn't robbed, my room wasn't broken into. I see this birthing as a business deal. Go, achieve my purpose and go home, especially now that dollar is seriously not smiling. I must confess, if the price difference between chase and intown isn't so bad, I might port. If not I stick with my broke ass budget accommodation, and go home after.

@oluwainfin, hi. Lodged there last year. Loads of Nigerian around so you really don't miss home. Prices are fair. However, you have to buy your kitchen utensils, though I didn't have to cause I got there when a number of wonderful people were leaving so they passed on their stuff to me. Also, cleaning is once a week. Will be in Elpaso again December ending this year. Would probably stay there again unless this chase hotel prices come close. Tried sending a pm to Vlesparza for further price clarification. Another major issue with intown suites is that you can't check in after 7pm. I got there like past 8pm the last time, had to stay at an airport hotel till the next day.

Zocken, u can't send over roughly about 800 dollars per quota through moneygram, however u can get about 3 different people to help send that amount to her.

@powermike9999, is it really that bad. I really don't get what the plan is in this country. Obtaining dollar seems to be getting way more difficult by the day. It's beginning to look like the government trying to deliberately push people to procure from the Black market....
I didn't know it was difficult, I just knew it was fastest fingers, meaning to get money gram or Western union u had to be at the bank at 8, and by 8.15 they would stop. Ezemistic can still get her folks to give it a shot.

@ ezemistic, have u explored money gram or Western union. Get people in Nigeria to send it to you, it should be cheaper than black market.

@justwise, there is nothing wrong, it's just so much drama...... It's expected if you go through due process that you will have them, but requesting for it at the point of exit is rather dramatic....

@isysleek, when we went they stopped giving cakes. Told us they would send it later and never did. None of us that went around that period benefited. Also paid for lab over the phone from Nigeria to save myself future embarrassment.

Oh, for those doctors you mentioned, if u have their contact, discuss with them personally, the fact that they have had you as a patient, they will probably take you. You can also request specifically for them from rodolfo since u are an old patient.

@isysleek: those doctors gave up on a lot Nigerians around the time I went in June 2015. What I heard, emphasis on what I heard was, they were tired of Nigerians concealing information, and expecting them to perform magic. For example, someone who knew she had placenta previous from Nigeria, would claim her pregnancy was going well, knowing full well there were issues, and would refuse to go for a scan. Bottomline, they stopped taking Nigerian patients. About hospital, they still use delsol, but there is now an option of another hospital, Sierra Province at downtown. This development came up after I left because delsol started treating people badly and we complained. Yes, was a victim. I had a normal delivery, went 3 weeks later, was told my account was clear and my zero balance would be processed. 6 weeks after, was told I was owing 18 dollars, but the system couldn't tell what it was for. Then lab sent bills to almost everyone for mother n baby. In fact the bill came like 2 days before I left, a lot of people had even left when the bill came, and had to start calling to find out of they were owing, which h of cause they were told they were owing. If I didn't have contacts of people, they wouldn't know they were owing. I guess the feedbacks started getting bad. May be wrong sha.....

@ Vlesparza, well, guess the first question I should have asked before answering was if hubby would be in Elpaso with her. If he won't, and she needs it signed, and sent from Nigeria, then it should be by a notary public at the American embassy in Nigeria. If he would be in el Paso with her, then your advice is in order. grin
