PoliticsObi’s Aide Slams APC Over Ojukwu Varsity. by Slizbeat(op): 12:54pm On Nov 08, 2013
BY VINCENT UJUMADU

AWKA — THE senior special assistant to Governor Peter Obi on Media & Publicity, Mr. Valentine Obienyem has decried what he called the All Progressives Congress, APC’s, penchant for opposing everything done by a non APC–led government, arguing that it is laughable that a political party should oppose the naming of a university after late Chief Chukwwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu.

Reacting to a statement credited to the minority leader in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Mr. Tony Muonagor in which he was quoted as opposing the renaming of Anambra State University after Ojukwu, Obienyem said there should be limits to politicking, even in election season.

He said: “A tragedy happens in Anambra State and even before credible, first hand witnesses could come up with a rep ort, one Lai Mohammed from a Lagos or Abuja base was already pontificating and laying blames on a matter he knows nothing about. That is very indecent and unhealthy.”

According to Obienyem, APC cannot reject what Anambra citizens and Nigerians have hailed as a good gesture from Governor Peter Obi and lamented that the APC was introducing a dangerous species of opposition in Nigerian politics.

He said that when a political party forms the habit of opposing every policy because it emanated from a rival party in government, that opposition is clearly out for the destabilization of the state, recalling that every action taken by the governor to immortalize the late Ojukwu has continued to receive commendation from all quarters, except the APC.

He said further: “I have followed the APC, that is, the South-West ACN bloc of the APC, and noticed the way they revere Yoruba eminent persons, dead or alive. Even recently, late Lt Col Adekunle Fajuyi was honoured. You wonder then why moves by Igbo to honour their own should be opposed and politicized.”

PoliticsRevocation, Demolition Of My Houses Can’t Sway Me – Kwankwaso. by Slizbeat(op): 12:28pm On Nov 08, 2013
Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of Kano State, yesterday, declared that the revocation of his land allocation by the Federal Capital Territory Minister will not change his decision to dump the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the All Progressives Congress, APC. Although the governor has not yet declared for APC, he has nonetheless made it clear that he does not care if his house at Maitama is demolished.

The governor made his position public at the special dinner organised by the Progressive Governors’ Forum in Abuja, Wednesday. Kwankwanso, who was represented by his Special Adviser on Sports, Ahmed Gombe, said that the marked house and the extension, which is the subject of controversy, were duly approved by the FCT Minister.

The governor said, however, that he would not
lose sleep if the houses were brought down on
account of his current political disposition. He said: “The marking of the said houses for demolition does not change the determination of His Excellency to face his political decision with courage and determination. If that is the price for him to pay, so be it.”

At the occasion, APC chieftain and former Lagos State Governor, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu,
described the seven Peoples Democratic Party
governors, who have threatened to pull out of the party, as APC’s beautiful brides.

Tinubu said that APC was ready to admit and work with the seven PDP governors and those that were yet to ditch the ruling party for APC. The APC leader challenged Nigerians to come out of their shell and face the current high level of impunity being visited on the polity by those in authority, saying that freedom is often fought for and not given on a platter.

Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State, who described the birth of APC as a watershed in the nation’s political landscape, also predicted that the party would make the required impact in the country after winning the 2015 presidency.

Fashola said: “I stand here tonight to proclaim that APC represents a new beginning for Nigeria. Although the nation is at crossroads, I plead with all Nigerians to unite and work with APC to bring about a new nation, where our collective interest, peace and unity would be attained.”

Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State, who also spoke at the event, decried the high level of poverty, criminality, diseases and corruption, which have combined to weaken the nation and its people, despite high revenues accruing from oil wealth.

At the ceremony, Senator Chris Ngige, was formally presented as Anambra State APC’s governorship candidate for the November 16 election.

Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, who described himself as an unrepentant APC member, said the party was the best legacy bequeathed to the current generation of Nigerians and predicted that it would change everything in the country.

When my village provides all I need, wetin I go dey find there sef??

With $50,000, you can build a 5 bedroom duplex to your taste along the waterside and live a good life. Or still build a 2 storey buiding comprising of 6 Flats of 3 bedroom and rent at $1000-$2000. Under 5 years, you would have recovered the cost.

icebeatz: For those of us planning to study abroad, this is a bad news. My sister was scheduled to take the toefl exam tomorrow only for her to get a message that nigeria has been removed from one of the countries eligible to take the exam.
She has alrwady paid all necessary fees and they didnt even talk about refunding her.

I heard the nearest alternative test centre is in ghana.
Ths is sooo annoying and frustrating.

I believe my sister is not the only one that got the message... since the exam was supposed to hold 2moro, please what is the next step for you??

Please mods, I beg you to move this to the front page.
Thank you
Do Nigerians require toefl or ielts?? Thought English is our 1st language. Well, so many of my friends didn't take any TOEFL but are in U.K universities. Provided they have GCE as WAEC is not accepted and their English is satisfactory.

My advice, she should get to the U.K first and apply for a 6 Months English training before proceeding to her preferred Course or contact the School.

owobokiri: Very very dearly.... Very instructive too that in less that an hour of solid bravery, Nzeogwu was able to put an end to the expanding ruthlessness that was~is fulani politics in Nigeria... It took another 30 months of attrition spearheaded by the same bunch of clueless southerners to put the far north back on top,..we have been messed up ever since
How I wish those 5 generals are still alive till date or say there are 5 generals now that has such kind of balls

Kponkwem: Many so called educated southerners do not understand these shenanigans of the oligarchic north.
Since Ahmadu Bello, Premier of the North made those decisive comments at the eve of the independent anniversary, the country has known no peace without a northern muslim leader. Despite insignificant contribution to the country's sustenance, they are violently opposed to decentralisation of power and change of the status quo. Smh for southerners.

"The new nation called Nigeria should be an estate of our great grandfather Othman Dan Fodio. We must ruthlessly prevent a change of power. We use the minorities in the north as willing tools and the south as a conquered territory and never allow them to rule over us and never allow them to have control over their future." – Parrot Newspaper October 12, 1960.
The bolded still marvels me whenever I see it. It sends a deep shock and sense of anger down my spine. I wish he was still alive so he will pay dearly.
PoliticsRe: Northern Muslims must rule for peace to reign (picture) by Slizbeat(m): 9:13am On Nov 08, 2013
kettykin: Some betraying southerners helped the north to dominate and marginalise the South, the same southerners are working tirelessly day and night to bring back the same order where the north will be the predator notable among them are Tinubu and Obasanjo, previously it was awolowo who rather than back ogundipe to become the head of state chose the in existent post of vice president to a military head of state, Abiola did the same thing by choosing to sponsor 1983 coup that truncated a democratically elected government and also sponsored coup against the only true and level headed yoruba leader earnest shonekan.

What the South East and South south will witness if power goes back to the north either in 2015 or 2019 will be a child's play compared to what happened in the late 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s when they were just observers in a northern led government where only Edo state got some recognition. This is why these 2 regions must fight for an SNC or be prepared to play the role of 6th class citizens
Nice thinking but the truth is that it can never happen again. Instead it happening, the two regions will fight themselves into extinction. 2014 is gonna be a tough year for this country I telya, not to talk of 2015.

PoliticsRe: The "Hatred" For "Nigerians by Slizbeat(m): 1:06pm On Nov 07, 2013
After watching the video posted on YouTube, I see that the Nigerians were right for demanding justice but were wrong the way they went about it.

Again, I really wouldn't blame them for what they did cos of how Nigeria is and how Nigeria will react about it with our government nonchalant attitude over the death of any of her nationals outside the shores of Nigeria.

Similar thing happened sometime ago in this same Goa where a Nigerian National was killed and everything was swept under the carpet by the Goan police.

Arewa Warrior: Religion isnt actually a competition sir. Islam covers every single aspect of our lives, so if ur religion doesnt regulate ur financial activities just let live. Let me give you an e.g In Abuja every single govt building has a mosque because of the fact that twice in the afternoon we muslims HAVE to pray.... 5 times every day for the rest of our lives.
I have asked my question and no one seems to give me a convincing answer. In that note, I rest my case. All I pray is that we live to see the end point of it all.

Sai anjuma.

You need to see things in the Nigerian perspective as it relates to Nigeria and not an Islamic nation like the ones you mentioned.

Ibos are the least ethnic group to issue any enforceable threat in Nigeria...if the Ijaws are threatening to disrupt oil flow, we can understand.

Ibos will stop selling spare parts in the market to enforce their demands? undecided

You Ibos on NL get very big jokes! grin cheesy
I never wrote it was a threat. I just gave an advice on the matter.

PoliticsRe: House Report Demands Oduah’s Sack by Slizbeat(m): 11:46am On Nov 07, 2013
If they sack Oduah, they should know that Nigeria will never remain together.

Give the Lady a fair trial first before you carry out your ethnic cleansing which you want us to believe it's fighting corruption when the most corrupt of all is leading a whole race into the most indebted in africa and is being portrayed as a leader that will bring revolution into the Nigerian system.

My advice to the house and presidency is this, "Do not use your hands to worsen the problem which started over 47 years ago" lest the consequences will not be tolerable for every single citizen of Nigeria when it's being exploded.
