Politics / Re: Tinubu Visits Crash Survivors. Comments On Aviation Sector. by Slizbeat(m): 12:29pm On Oct 07, 2013
Ola Johnson:
Your question is not clear but I will help your dyxlesia. There have been crashes in other airports in Kano and Port-Harcourt.

I am asking of recently. In two years, it has two crashes. That's ridiculous. The airport and flights need a total overhaul. I quite agree that the planes used are old and it may look like a lapse on the aviation ministry for such kind of irregularity in their administration but then, 80% of aircrafts in Nigeria are 20 years and above. So if they are all banned, whar do you think will happen to the sector?? BTW, The last a crash occurred in kano was that of Gwamaja as I saw the plane removing smokes in excess as it passed my school only to see corpses been brought to the military hospital near my school.

idumuose: Truth be told, though I'm not a fan of Ngige, but I was in Anambra
throughout Ngige's tenure.This man performed creditably.Ngige
came to Anambra rolled his trousers up and worked amidst
opposition from Obasanjo and his gang. This is all I can tell Ɣ☺u.
All those saying Obi is not working are just been mischievious.Today,
Anambra has one of the best network of roads in the country.Courtesy
Ngige and Obi. Ɣ☺u will realise that with these good network of roads,
Anambra towns are within minutes of one another. From Nkpor junction
to umuoji to ojoto to Nnobi junction-move to your right to Nnewi, move
straight to Awka etiti.it connects Ɣ☺u to Ezinifite to Igboukwu to ugha
junction. My brothers and sisters Anambra has broken the jinx of under-
development.
Therefore, whether it's Obiano or Ngige, each of them will perform if they
win. Ngige will focus his attention more on Onitsha's development
where he also hopes to generate revenue.Ngige is a typical Ibo boy, shrewd,
business savvy, ambitious with native sense. But Ngige is also an election
rigger. He doesn't believe in free and fair election. He is bold and courageous
so don't be deceived by his diminutive stature.

I am happy someone has been to Anambra lately and prove critics of obi wrong. I saw what I never thought i will see last month when I was there. I was in Anambra in 2012 and was weeping at the way the eastern gateway road looks like. But last month, on entering Onitsha after the headbridge, I saw a magnificent 10lanes. I was so impressed. Am from Awka-etiti and I know how had it was for me and my dad to locate our village in 1999 after living in kano for over 15years. But last month, the bus I took, "libra motors" precisely, stopped me at Eke Awka in Awka etiti. Even the roads in my village is tarred. The one that passed front of my family house is tarred too though it is said that they were done by our community individuals. But in alk, I commend obi for linking 90% percent of Anambra with good roads. As for Ngige, I don't have anything to say now.

Ola Johnson: Where are those Igbo people that commend Stella Oduah, the Minister of Aviation, and even call for the re-election of GEJ because of the renovation of some airports, the one in Enugu, especially? Success in the aviation sector goes beyond beautifying airports or using the Minister to attack perceived enemies.
Does it surprise anybody that no foreign owned plane has crashed in Nigeria?

Why has the past crashes happened in lagos??
Even the Enugu airport you guys complained of having bad run way hasn't had any form of crash or anything of sort.
Leave Oduah out of this, When FFK was there, what did he do??

As much as I agree with tinubu on the need to employ technocrats and professional, he should also help recommend a technocrat for us that is neither an IGBO, YORUBA or HAUSA and is not from APC(As in politically inclined)

Another thing is that I don't even know why that lagos airport is still in bad shape. I went there last week and wept cos the floor of the taxi park was a mess. Na so I carry poto poto enter international airport. I was really ashamed even though the local terminal is better to me. The airport needs to be deconjested if that is what is making it to remain d way it is. Send flights to ABJ, Port, Akwa Ibom and see the magic. The lagos airport shouldn't be a monopoly.

Lemme analyze The Major Ethnic groups/Tribes Progress when Nigeria breaks up.

1. The Almighty North wouldn't do bad per say because they have acquired enough for maintenance over a period of 2 Decades but will eventually fall if the likes of Buhari and the present elites are given the Grand Commanders. Northerners are not known for laziness. No matter how menial a job might be, they will be able to engage themselves by doing it. e.g Shoemakers, Okada riders, Truck pushers e.t.c. They will Co-exist well over a period before they will eventually crumble and start struggling.

2. The Ever-Intelligent South-West wouldn't do bad too since they already have enough money to take them for a while and also a second home at London. They will be the most progressive among the break away parts for a period of 5 years before they will eventually fall due to lack of maintenance as almost all importation will be diverted to the ports in the south south, south east thereby reducing revenue base. But lemme warn seriously, Tinubu and co shouldn't rule you guys lest u crumble within 2 years. Already, they have enough infrastructures but will be coveted if care is not taken.

3. The Most business-Wise and inclined South-east wouldn't do bad but will definitely have trying times within a period of 2 years because Nigeria would not be able to pay her all her Investments in their reach cos they may run Bankrupt if they do. Oil is not a problem for them as they already have established a lot of international industries to cater for their population and have single handedly survived in the Nigerian entity without the Nigerian government influence. But I must warn, the likes of the Ubah's should not near power lest they get assassinated as her citizens don't accept Never-do-wells.

This for me is the picture of the Broken Nigeria. The three regions will be Peoples Republic of Arewa(P.R.A), Oduduwa Peoples Republic(O.P.R) and Sovereign States of Biafra(S.S.B)

I really weep for this country. I have stopped being a Nigerian to being IGBO. I now understand what Chimuamanda Adiche meant by saying "She is Nigerian because the white man says so"

God shall help all of us to see reasons to hate this nation. The period we begin to hate this nation, the better the nation will become because she will try to impress her children. Is there any mother that is not disheartened when her child says "Mum, I hate you"? What such mothers do is to try and gain trust back even if it means her dying so that her child would believe in her once again.
Politics / Our Amalgamation Is A Mistake - Ankio Briggs by Slizbeat(m): 11:00am On Oct 02, 2013
MS Ankio Briggs, rights activist and one of the leaders of the National Summit Group, says
there is nothing to celebrate at 53 and the
amalgamation of Northern and Southern
protectorates to create Nigeria was a mistake.
Excerpts:

How do you view Nigeria at 53?

I’m yet to see what we are celebrating. If we
are celebrating the fact that we have had
independence for 53 years and lived together
for a 100 years then, 100 is just a figure. When
you are celebrating, you have to show what you
have achieved. And the question I’m asking is
what have we achieved?

Unity? We are not united in this country.
Developmentally, what have we achieved? I
mean in things like roads and what have you?
These are the things that should matter as we
are progressing. We shouldn’t now be building
roads at 100.

We should be improving on what we have built
may be at 30, 40, 50, 60, not starting the
development of Nigeria after a 100 years of
being together.

So, for me, those are the things I use as
yardstick to measure Nigeria. Like other
countries are sending satelite into the space,
Nigeria sent a satelite and lost it.
So, we should ask ourselves if Nigeria is not too
big a country to be governed the way in which
we are being governed today? Should we not
have states being responsible for themselves?
This is why national conference is necessary.
We have been like this for 100 years, aside the
fact that we have been together and this is
what everybody tells us as if it’s such a big deal
to be together.

America is still together and look at what they
have achieved, likewise other countries. Other
countries like the Soviet Union, Sudan, have
broken up.

For Nigeria, I think by age alone, we are
matured enough to ask ourselves some
questions and answer them in a truthful
manner. We are just deceiving ourselves.

People have said the coming together of
different parts of the country is a mistake, do
you agree?

I totally agree, but we can’t take responsibility
for that, I might say, because it’s not Nigerians
that created Nigeria.

It’s Lord Luggard who created Nigeria that
brought us together and called us one people.
But it’s very clear today that that’s not so. The
North is the North and the South is the South.
These regions are made up of so many people
with different cultures, religions, foods and
different ways of looking at things.
And when you bring them together to say they
should look at things the same way, you are
telling them to look at Nigeria in only one way.
But one day, some of this people will wake up
and say, look, things are not working for us this
way.

The people it works for will resist other people
who don’t want the process to remain like that.
So, this is the problem Nigeria is having and
anybody that doesn’t see it like that is not
telling himself the truth.

Do we have any basis for Nigeria’s unity?

We have basis in the sense that it’s our choice.
It should be our choice and it will be our choice,
because that’s why we have these discussions
going on now. I believe Nigeria can be a great
country and that Nigerians can live together.
Look at the circumstances we are in and we are
still able to manage it and to drag it along. But
we shouldn’t be managing. We should have
some rules and regulations that we all accept.
We should agree on how and when we are going
to do it and once we agree, it will be much
easier. The problem we are having is that we
didn’t agree. And we have not found the basis
on which we are agreeing. We must find that
basis. It’s possible to live together.

But the question is how? What are the terms and
conditions?
Nobody is saying we shouldn’t live together. We
are saying how? Who brings what? Who owns
what? Who controls what? How much should I
bring? How much should you bring? How much
What if we keep everything and pay something
to the centre? These are the things we need to
look at together. We can live together, but how?

Now, how do you think we can live together in
peace and harmony in Nigeria?

Well, it won’t be for one person alone. I can
only speak for my people. Like for instance, I
come from Rivers State, which is in Niger Delta
region. For instance, most of what we are using to
develop the country today is coming from my
region, from my state.
Now, all I’m saying is that that should not be
so. It has made every other state which does
not have oil not to bring anything to the table.
So, what I’m saying is that we should have
ownership of our resources and pay tax to the
Federal Government. That way, everybody will
be responsible for themselves.

And then, we from the Niger Delta will not feel
that the weight of developing Nigeria is on our
back and that we as a people are not gaining
anything from it.

What percentage of tax do you think the regions
should pay to the centre?

Taxes are usually 5 per cent, 2 per cent, 40 per
cent and whatever. It’s something we must all
agree upon. I mean, it’s not something that I
will say, it should be like this.

What percentage do you suggest?

Well, I think 10 per cent.

Politics / A Quick Way To Dissolve This "One Nigeria" Thing. by Slizbeat(m): 4:16pm On Sep 30, 2013
Some may say SNC is the best way to the problems we face in this country but I tell you, the greediness of our so called Leaders wont allow that to happen. All they have at heart is how to loot the funds available to the masses for their selfish interest.

Well, I wouldn't spend much here or type long words but I will just hit the nail on the head. The quickest and easiest way to dissolve this Nigeria Union come 2015 is GEJ

Yes, GEJ may be clueless but he has an importance as a major tool to this goal.

Keep GEJ in power come 2015 and let the so called Northern or Hausa-Fulani elites do their worst so the world will agree and defend our course and call to pull out of this union. Let that Baboon and dog be sooked in blood. It is a sacrifice we have to make now than later for the benefit of the future generation.

Note- "It is only those(Southerners) born and raised in the North that will perfectly understand these hausa-fulani's and this writeups. However, few may not understand because they probably are not rooted in the north. Check out all those against the union of this country, more than 70% are northern born and raised.

You may choose to believe in whatever you like and if you feel this would not help, you can proffer a solution you think will help. Thanks.

36STATES: These're giant generators being hyped as IPP. Lagos state boasts of having economy larger than Ghana but can't supply steady eclectricity to any residence. What happened to the Lagos mono rail? Fashola is busy chasing okada and waging war of attriction against the poor all over Lagos. He should go to east and south south to see what is called IPP, not those his Mekano generators. Lagos state needs thousands of mega wats, not this measrable ten or twenty MGs.

Speaking of that mono rail, it was said to start operating this past june but till now I haven't seen anything yet and that's why I hate whenever they address the masses and pass false hopes. It is better they don't even speak till it's done.

I used to believe pictures means evidence until lately. Men should learn to choose what they want to believe in. To me, Onitsha is indeed now a befitting eastern gateway. Entering Onitsha right after the bridge, you will be greeted by a 10-lane road down to upper Iweka where you will encounter a magnificent and confusing flyover bridge with so many channels. You need to see for yourselves to understand, it's just WOW! so to say. Going down, the road gradually closes back to double lane around Oba junction. This is what I saw with my eyes last two weeks Tuesday. Funny enough, I didn't take any pictures after taking some at Asaba when we had a flat tire.

Politics / I’ll Take Anambra To The Next Level – Obiano by Slizbeat(m): 9:36am On Sep 25, 2013
The All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA
candidate in the November 16 governorship
election in Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano,
has unfolded a 10-Point Strategic Plan that
revolves around education, health, environment,
infrastructural development, as well as
commerce and industry.

Other areas Obiano said he would give priority
if elected included agriculture, security and
social welfare, housing and urban development,
tourism, sports, youth development and
administration and civil service.

He spoke in an interview with newsmen, in
Lagos, weekend adding that he was ready to
take the state to a new level of development, if
elected.

Obiano, who retired as a banker after over 30
years of service, said that Governor Peter Obi’s
solid foundation in the state can only be useful
if someone with a track record of excellent
performance was allowed to succeed him and
expand the vision.
His words: “Governor Peter Obi has given us a
new Anambra; a great place where positive
changes are taking place. Ndi Anambra cannot
allow our beloved state to take a slide into the
dark days again. We have seen the light. We
cannot return to darkness. My running mate,
Dr. Nkem Okeke and I are prepared to expand
the current development paradigm in the state.
We have the experience and the academic and
professional pedigree to give Anambra a
purposeful leadership.”

He further said that “for Anambra State to
become the first choice investment destination
and the hub for industrialization and commercial
activities,’’ he would create a socially stable and
business friendly environment that would attract
both indigenes and foreigners to seek wealth
creating opportunities in the area.
Obiano further explained that at the core of his
administrative strategy for Anambra lies the
“3Cs Paradigm” which loosely stands for
Continue, Complete and Commission all ongoing
projects of Governor Peter Obi.
Earlier in his opening remarks, Governor Obi
explained that the choice of Chief Obiano and
Dr. Okeke was made in the overall interest of
the state.

“I challenge other parties to present the
credentials of their candidates for people to see.
Chief Obiano and Dr. Okeke are clearly ahead of
their rivals educationally, professionally and
managerially,” he said, adding that it would be
wrong to hand over the business of the state to
people who have not managed their own
personal businesses well enough.

“Anambra State deserves better than the
candidates that other parties are putting
forward for this election. The minimum for
Anambra should at least be a university degree.
This is because our world has changed and the
task of running a state has local and
international dimensions that only a sound
education can place one on a comfortable
pedestal to navigate. That is why APGA chose a
team with the right backgrounds and
competence for the job,” he declared.
According to him, a state like Anambra, with a
super-abundance of talents, skills, experience
and gifted people deserves the kind of
leadership that would attract the envy of its
contemporaries. “Anambra is too blessed with
human and material resources to play second
fiddle to any state of the federation.

Anambrarians are a discerning people. We are
hopeful that they will give us their votes because
we have a clear idea of what to do to restore
Anambra State to its full glory,” he added.
In his own remarks, APGA Chairman, Chief Victor
Umeh said the party had an obligation to field a
team that would sustain the momentum of
governance in the state and push the
boundaries of development to a new height.
“Chief Willie Obiano and Dr. Nkem Okeke are
outstanding Nigerians who have excelled in their
chosen careers. Their backgrounds are verifiable
and their records of service are in the public
domain.

We took our time to select a team that will
make other candidates develop serious doubts
about themselves. Anambra will be better with
Obiano and Okeke in charge. We hope our
people will acknowledge this effort by voting
them into office.”
