Mr Aboki:

Because money has no race, tribe or color..

The money is being used to finance projects in Nigeria. Why should the government borrow with interest from foreign banks and share the burden of debt on us all, when he can borrow from 'non-interest' Sharia banks (with no hidden agenda) and share the burden of debt with the bank?!

Its called Economic sense 101

There is always a hidden agenda especially here in Nigeria. Saudi may give you without any hidden agenda but Nigeria will never do such. Simple and Short. This is Nigeria.

Islamic banking is the only one that doesn't deal with capital......dis is not about islamising nigeria, its about making it a beta place so if u dnt av any better thing to say, lock up

I guess Honk kong will disagree with you. Japan will also. They don't base on any religious principle but they are amongst the best economy.

You and I know that this statistics you dropped here is a lie..

However, its not important in this matter.. Everybody, group, people, color, religion no matter how small is protected under the constitution of Nigeria.

Muslims have the right to set up a banking system, just as Christians have the right to set up schools.. #Period!

Yes I agree with you on this note.

There are 6 geopolitical zones in Nigeria and 4 of those six have muslim majorities. Incidentally those four regions are also the most populated. 4 out of 6 is 65% at least. So what voodoo arithmetic tells you that christians come even close to muslims in Nigeria? Nonsense.

Islam lies in the heart such as Christianity does and not in the mouth or in population. And if you think you want to base your facts on 2006 census, then am sorry you will be disappointed by the outcome of 2016.

Why dont you go and close down the mosques na..

Have you taken time out to study the contitution of Nigeria and our freedoms as contained therein?!

They can Open Islamic banks, schools, Airports, Seaports, bridges and apply Islamic principles and laws to the usage of these things.. The only place where they would be breaching the law is if they tell you 'a christian' that you cant use their facilities. However, if you a Christian choses to use their facilities, it means you have accepted to abide by their rules and regulation! PERIOD!!

Covenant University is doing the same darn thing in Education and I didnt hear you niggas scream blue murder o!

Muslims open a bank that is even beneficial to all, you all want to hang yourselves!

cheesy

Haba na!!

Am not against the policy at all, it will of course benefit so many people. The problem here is why is it being introduced into our collective growth??

I never heard of Covenant. Am not even a fan of the university not to talk of its policy.

Nonybb: Did Muhammad invent any banking model? Why the word "Islamic" in it. This is a simple question. It wasnt a hindu bank, we dont have buhdu bank, we dont have christian bank, eventhough it was a christian that invented the the current modern coventional method of banking and cashing with ATM and so on and so forth. Why should u people single handedly call it "islamic thing". Dats wat i want to knw

Stop calling Islam a false belief please. Everyone is entitled to his/her own belief as you and I are entitled to ours. Let's stick to the topic.

Because it is based on Islamic principles... Na wah o!!

Even if they call it Stanbic Bank, its still Islamic banking practice that they will be running!

Then Islamic principles shouldn't be introduced into a secular state like Nigeria....period.

Let's stick to the interest paying way, atleast it will make one work hard to pay up than feel relaxed.

Mr Aboki:

Thats the beauty of Freedom..

If you feel like you are being marginalized, go and open a 'Christian Banking system'.

The fact of the matter if that Islamic banking (non-interest banking) is way better than the conventional banking system we have in place currently, but religious bigotism has blinded people from seeing it.

The banking is based on Islamic principles as stated in the Quran and is favorable to new, small and medium business owners who can btain loans without interest and the bank shares the risk of your business with you. The bank is open to every and any person devoid of race, tribe, tongue or religous affiliation.

Yes sir. Nothing in this life ever seems as it's being stated. May work out in Saudi or any other muslim nation but as for Nigeria, its a No-No.
Politics / Re: FG To Use Islamic Bond To Build Airports, Refineries by Slizbeat(m): 10:35am On Nov 07, 2013
lovat: There is no diffrence betwwen Islamic loans and other conventional loans. In the normal bank loans interest is stated while in Islamic loan interest is added up with the principal. For example if u want to make a high purchase of a goods worth #30000 in normal banking the goods will be sold with let's say a 10% interest which makes it #33000 while in Islamic banking the cost of the goods for high purchase will go outrightly for #33000. It ll now be spread over to seem as if there is no interest attached to it.

My brother, lets forget about that part. The question is what is the other part of this bond?? This is earth and we are all humans. You can't buy a thing at 10000 and sell at 10000 without a hidden agenda or somewhere the money will come back from.

Hahaha. Christianity banking? Who stops you from practicing it? Which country practices christianity banking? Kindly let us know. Even the vatican does not have anything like Christianity banking.

I know that, am just saying. why should there now be an Islamic bond in the present Nigerian system?? Am not even against it but as you know, there are two sides to a coin and to everything as philosophy is concerned.

What is the other side of this funding?? And again, why introduce it into a kind of society like Nigeria??
Politics / Re: FG To Use Islamic Bond To Build Airports, Refineries by Slizbeat(m): 10:20am On Nov 07, 2013
A country split roughly between Islam and Christianity can not afford to carry out such.

Why not Christianity bond or traditional bond??
What of the other side of this financing??

Please do that in the Northern Nigeria or better still, break away into northern republic.

Religious chauvinism should not be played out, Religious tolerance should be our guide if we are to continue as a nation together.

Well well, considering my state and her beginning and what some group of individuals turned her into and the present government has done, I will rate my governor above 62%.

The state is the only state in Nigeria that the said governor has been removed twice and reinstated back in his two years tenure.

Decipher it and prove your ingenuity.

From what I cam draw here, A waiver was granted. It doesn't matter whether it was for 300 little cars or 2 BMW armoured cars. It could be exchanged.

It seems the table is beginning to turn around, and everyone is beginning to shield his or her self as saints. It might be a way of duping the FG as the fg is responsible for the festival under the host of Lagos.

The NCAA, Coscharis, LASG, The Minister e.t.c will be involved in one way or the other.

Most of the tourism centres in Osun State are tied to religion. So, tourists, or do I say religious adherents, are less concerned about whether it is beutified but if it would connect them with the deity. The only thing the government does is to attract private individuals to build hotels where tourists could lodge.

You've not said anything meaningful. FYI Osun State has many tourist centres that attract tourists. There are the Erin Ijesha Waterfall, Opa Oranmiyan, Oshogbo Groove, River Osun, etc. Foreigners come to these places without security, and yet not kidnapped like they would have in other parts of the country which their home governments have always dissuaded them from going. When I was in OAU, some foreigners doing exchange programme in my department were always seen in Ife town without being afraid.
Don't forget, foreigners that have accepted Ifa and other traditional beliefs of the Yoruba, come to Ile-Ife on pilgrimage just as christians and moslems go to Israel and Saudi Arabia respectively. You need to see the hotels that are springing up in Ile-Ife.

Now you just made sense. If all these places weren't beautified, would tourism have grown??

We need beautification.

Your bigoted mind has block your sense of reasoning to know that beautifying or remodelling of seven out of the over twenty airports is far from giving Stella Oduah a pass mark. In fact, even if she does same in all the airports and airstrips. It's like the Minister of Education, Nyesome Wike, defying the demand of ASUU, and then turn around to renovating and repainting structures in some universities just to get cheap favour for himself and GEJ from east of the Niger. This will amount to doing the right thing wrongly.
What the aviation sector needs is safety in our airspace. What is in the FG beautifying our airports when states are now building airports that are now better than those of the FG? Osun State will soon complete its airport whose runway will be the longest.

Not surprised it's coming from Orlando Owoh.

I wouldn't mix issues with you cos I have seen your post and comments alot of times.

Good for Osun, last time I checked, they call her "state of Osun". She is so independent. Longest runway won't attract travellers and tourists but a beautifully made airport like Dubai international airport, terminal 6 in particular, Malaysia's airport and Nairobi Kenyatta airport.

Politics / World Bank To Adopt Anambra’s Education Module. by Slizbeat(m): 10:20am On Nov 06, 2013
•Obi presents N1.5bn to schools..

WORLD Bank officials from Abuja, led by the
Country Director, Me Marie Francoais Marie-
Nelly, arrived in Awka yesterday for the kick-
off of the Anambra State Education
Programme Investment Project(SEPIP), which
is part of his “Final Push,” towards the
achievement of the Millennium Development
Goals (MDGs).

The project involves $150 million among
Anambra, Ekiti and Bauchi states.
Speaking on the project, the
Senior Education Specialist for the World
Bank, Prof. Tunde Adekola said Anambra State
was selected for World Bank intervention
because Governor Peter Obi demonstrated
accountability by using available resources to
deliver better education results.
He said that the World Bank would adopt
Obi’s direct disbursement of resources to
end-users since it had evidently worked in
the state.

Adekola said the criteria for selection was
based among states that had demonstrated
great support to education on their own,
while the World Bank was working to
encourage them.

“We shall from time to time evaluate what
Anambra is doing. Once we see improvement
as it is now, we shall offer more support.”
Part of the assistance will go in the area of
special employment and training of teachers
in core subjects of English, Mathematics and
the Sciences.

The delegation later visited Queen of the
Rosary Secondary School, Onitsha, Dennis
Memorial Secondary School, Onitsha; and
Christ the King College, Onitsha witnessed
the handing over of the cheques of N30
million to the three schools for continued
infrastructural development and said that
they were impressed by what they saw in the
three schools.

The World Bank had to commission the
team from Oxford University led by Prof.
Collier to study what Anambra State is doing
in the education sector that led to the
noticeable improvement.

Meanwhile, Obi has presented a cheque of
N1.5 billion to the schools in the state as part
of the continued efforts by his government
toward their rehabilitation, assuring that he
was committed to all levels of education.
Marie-Nelly said she was overwhelmed by
the level of infrastructure she witnessed in
schools in the state and thanked the governor
for that.

She advised students to work hard to enable
them equip themselves adequately to
compete with others anywhere across the
world. She said with internet connectivity and
computers in schools in Anambra State, she
was confident the state was on the right path.

He won't do that because Fashola is an APC governor. Jonathan has initiated a lawsuit against Lagos state regarding the new bridge in Lagos State. He wouldn't have done that if Lagos was under PDP.

Sorry sir but he cannot. It will only increase the amount taxpayers will be paying and also the debt and borrowing of the state for the course of Maintenance. Enugu's national debt is not much and so.the state will be able to maintain the.stadium. Lagos has enough projects at hand already and are not yet completed. Any other responsibility to the state is only but a wicked act to the state government. Eko Atlantic city and Lagos light rail are not yet completed amongst other projects.

Prevention is better than cure....haven't you heard??

If flood is to happen and is being said, won't they try to prevent it rather than wait when it happens then you prepare for the next one.

To topic, I was at MMA on monday and I can say Stella is doing good. All works are on pause due to the problems and allegations facing the minister. But from what is on ground, she is really doing great there. The Local wing is one heck of a magnificent renovation, better off than the international for now. Again, please if you know how to get this message across to the ministry, pls do. The message is "The Taxi car park is in shambles" and if need be to tax the cab drivers in the course of rehabilitating there, please the ministry should do so.
