cogitoErgo: My broda, I read d book too o and I just do no find reason to accuse Achebe of anything! Achebe blaimed all those to be blaimed and praised all those to be praised. If u read d book carefully, u will see dat in many places he clearly blaimed Ojukwu for many of his actions, which Achebe seems to believe is self-centered! When he mentiond Soyinka, he clearly praised him. He mentiond Victor Banjo without neccessarily calling him a traitor!
At d begining of a discussion on ogbunigwe, he clearly stated dat he is not a man if violence and he does not encourage violence in settling any problem.
D conclussion I came to after reading d book is dat, even though Achebe schoold in Ibadan and worked in Lagos, he clearly does not know Yorubaland and their culture! Besides the book is a must read for all Nigerians.
Yes. You really read the book and from my point of view, that book has no tribal affiliation and clearly shows that Achebe has no problem with any tribe but his problem is with the Nigerian system and politics.

Politics › How Did "There Was A Country" In Any Way Say Bad About Awolowo?? by Slizbeat(op): 2:54pm On Sep 20, 2013
After Chinua Achebe released his book titled "There was a country", A personal memoir on Biafra, There were controversy following it most of which came from our Yoruba brothers on the note that he(Chinua) was against them. But there is by no way Chinua included the Yoruba in that book. As a matter of fact, his arguments is "why has the war not being taught in schools?"

The only place where Awolowo was mentioned in that book was a part where a statement credited to Pa Awo was given where he said something like " In a war, everything is fair and we are not supposed to feed our enemies so they will not defeat us" or so.(If I hadn't borrowed a friend the book, I would have presented the quote the way it is) To me, that is only where I faulted Pa Awo cos he shouldn't have said anything because the war was clearly between the young generals(Ojukwu and Gowon).

Now, can anyone who has read the book prove to me that such a book should cause controversy of any sort??

Meanwhile, Achebe's questions are unanswered which is what I also have being asking.
Why has the Nigeria-Biafra war not being taught or included in the schools' Curriculum?

Reptyle: All this pointless ultimatums are fast becoming jaded. By the way, is Asari Dokubo not a moslem?

His take on this threat will be quite interesting grin
That Asari of a guy has twenty mouths, he is never stable. Besides, this egbesu watever gave same ultimatum in 2011 and I never saw anything happen. Talk is the cheapest Know commodity in the world.

But I like a part where he said "leave our land", showing that Nigeria was never ONE before now. Time will tell, *sipping Alomo and Popcorn in Uganda, watching closely*
Politics › Egbesu Militants Give Muslims In Niger-Delta 7-Days To Leave by Slizbeat(op): 2:07pm On Sep 20, 2013
A militant group in the Niger Delta code name “Egbesu Mightier Strike Force” has given seven days ultimatum to the Muslim community in the area to leave or else there would be massive attack on them.

In an email message by the Joint Revolutionary Council to 247ureports.com, it said they are being compelled by the present Boko Haram merciless bombing in the country without verifiable developmental agitation and the Northern oligarchy to unseat a serving President in the country.

According to the message, the tsunami of Boko Haram will not, in its sweep, skip the homes and interests of it promoters, active or passive, stressing that, Boko Haram has been leaving bombs around churches and other places with clusters of the innocent souls.

“Even now there is killing going on in the North. The continuous killings of Christians in the North should be stop forthwith. If peace is pronounced a war, why can’t we go our separate ways by amicable agreement? Boko Haram may have its origins from wherever it likes. None of the core Northerners, eg. General Buhari, General Ibrahim Babangida, Atiku Abubakar, Junaidu Mohammed, Adamu Ciroma, Ango Abdullahi, self acclaim chief servant, Babangida Aliyu etc. could not have condemned the barbaric act of killing with Its wild excesses are essentially a reaction to the Presidential ascendancy of Dr. Goodluck Jonathan. It has its sponsors and financiers in the North and outside Nigeria. If we are actually one Nigeria, why won’t we allow other geo-political zone to rule the country?” Commander Okiki Kene lamented.

The statement added that, Saudi Arabia is the centre of the Islamic faith, yet, there was no single killing of Christian faithful in that country. Why all these killing in reaction to Goodluck Jonathan’s Presidential victory? With this trend, we can’t leave together. Leave Niger Delta now!!! Your failure to leave at the expiration of this message, we lead to killing of any Muslim we see in the Niger Delta Region.

No section of this country is an embodiment of killing others. Muslims can’t live in our land freely (Niger Delta) while Boko Haram will be killing our people in their land. This is our message, if you like stay and test our ultimatum then stay and see what will happen. We are fully ready to kill if you test us.

They further said the Rivers State Governor, Mr. Rotimi Ameachi should have rethink on his stand against President Goodluck Jonathan within the seven days and warned the state commissioner of Information, Mrs. Ibim Semenitari to respect the office of the President as regard her defense to her Boss, saying that they will visit them within the period. “What we are going to spear them is to re-track all statement made against the Presidency, and then we have talk,” Commander Okiki warned.

“We have tested blood war during the days of our agitation for equal right. These Boko Haram live among you and praying in the same mosque is well known to them. So they can’t claim that they don’t know where the Boko Haram is in the North.

The emergence of the notorious Boko Haram was premeditated and designed to blackmail and undermines the authority of President Goodluck Jonathan. It is a political weapon used only when a section of politicians feels that they are losing grip of the government in their manipulative tendencies”.

“The truth is that no dispensation will ever be good in Nigeria except from Muslim North. The release of BokoHaram Co-founder, Alhaji Ali Tishau by the Police on the request by the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) and later vanished from detention is clear demonstration that the North is out to fight the President with the Islamic Sect.

Enough is enough with this Sect to worry Mr. President. Go your home and leave our land now within the stipulated period. We the Egbesu Mightier Strike Force have given you our word. We have killed and we will not care to kill again if you dare us”, Commander Okiki vibrated.

Simple logic and reason- If Ngige was and is the best candidate for the Job, why was there no protest after he was removed from office 8years agohuh He has been brainwashed with the "Born to rule" Mentality and that is why he will keep failing. Tell Tinubu and Buhari to resign from APC and see if Ngige wont win.

At this point in time in Nigerian politics, it is unwise and remains not wise to register for such.

Reason- your vote is easily manipulated since they have your fingerprints and data thereby making your vote to read their candidate. Why can't we think for God's sake?? Why not question them before praising as if u don't know that behind ever project, there is a secret agenda.

My vote still remains with Obiano.
Would note vote in a governor that has ruled before, Anambra is not for only Ngige. If he hasn't passed or supported a bill as a senator, then I guess his vision has been wiped out and he is deemed unfit to rule again. He has never planned or said anything about the 2nd Niger bridge or even d seaport. Instead he claims glory for improved light which he didn't do a thing about.

On the other hand, No other contestants will get up 5% Vote.

Good to hear.

My questions include;
1. Is the site of such project stable enough to hold such amount of buildings?? Otherwise, don't put people's lifes at risk.

2. How much is required for the completion of this project? Is it available?? Otherwise it becomes an elephant project that would end up not being completed.

3. Is Fashola going to finish it before he leaves office in 2015?? Or his he going to be life governor of the state?? Cos taste differs and his successor might not be his kind of type thereby neglecting the project.

asha 80: just type 'chief willie obiano profile'....scroll down and click on the fourth item that bears 'profile/manifesto of chief willie obiano-nibo union worldwide'.
Yeah, have read it. Seems he ventured into all sectors ranging from banking to oil and gas and to aviation and is contended with his only child and daughter- very fascinating attribute of him. And again is a well cultured and traditional man, another good attribute of him showing that the love he has for the Igbo culture is not hidden thereby making the preservation of the Igbo tradition very sure. Well, with all I have gotten so far, am sticking to him.

Onlytruth: You insult logic by calling others emotional when you didn't even read my post before launching an ad hominem attack on me.
Whether you like him or not, fact remains that Ifeanyi Uba is currently running the most visible and successful campaign today in Anambra state.

Vote for him or not, he may win.

As for me, SOLUDO remains my candidate (if Peter Obi's evil plans to keep him out fails, and he manages to contest), win or lose.
However, if Soludo is kept out of the elections, I MAY vote for Ifeanyi Uba! cool

Obiano should NEVER get the vote of any SMART Anambra man. Peter Obi should come out and contest for a third term instead, and get thoroughly beaten at the polls this time, since we know him now (and Ojukwu is dead).

If Ifeanyi Uba continues to run an organized and disciplined campaign as he is currently doing till November, I MAY hold my nose and vote for him!
Now go call police on me.

I have more to say later, but I will wait for now.
Uba is a young man and is absolutely the age our leaders should be but where is his vision?? He might even be forced to pick this governorship race ticket. To me, we don't need any hardcore businessmen to rule again. Obi tried but still not at a good pace. Uba is a hardcore businessman and is even in debt, and moreover, cosmos maduka will frustrate his effort if he gets there and that will reduce his pace of development(That's if he has a vision for the state).

Nevertheless, Soludu was my choice until his recent disqualification. Obiano is not satisfactory but I will give my vote to him instead of Ngige or Uba for reasons best know to me..

kingbang: You are so on point my brother! I have waited to see anybody question Obiano's credibility and leadership qualities but all i kept reading are thrash like "he is Peter Obi's stooge","he worked at Fidelity" and some other dumb balderdash. Amongst all the candidates, i dare say Willy Obiano is the most credible! FACT!
My brother oo, I was in anambra last week and saw how onitsha has changed. To that, my conclusion is that peter obi is not that bad but indeed a bit slower than we need. Questioning Obiano's credibility is to know if he can carry on with where peter stopped and move at a speed X8 of obi's own. Nonetheless, He should be a tough headed man and not allow Obi to be some sort of godfather to him thereby turning our state to a business venture. Why I am giving my vote to him is because I haven't heard of any scandalous activities in his name. As for the rest of them, we all know.

Politics › Re: How Ifeanyi Ubah Used Fake Monarch To Castigate Me – Obi by Slizbeat(m): 9:22am On Sep 18, 2013
Ubah is not fit to be anambra's governor at all. He has not stated what the state stands to gain if he wins at the polls. He never had a vision of anything he will add to the states' improvement and economy. Well, cosmos maduka, his business rival will frustrate his political ambition so not to worty about him. After all, he bought enough trailers which he uses to cause hold up at nnewi. If he fails, he can sell them.

On the other hand, Nwoye can't even speak good english, how fit is he noe to rule a state?? and beside he seems a thug.

As for Ngige d fearless shortman, I will openly disagree due to his party affiliation. No more godfatherism is allowed in my dear state unless tinubu and buhari resigns from politics before Nov. 14th.

Obiano, I don't serm to know him but if it is the former fidelity boss, I am not yet convinced about him. If he has any other track records, I would like to be informed before I can ascertain his credibility.

If Soludu joins a smaller party before November, then Anambra has gotten what it needs. Atleast CBN was better under him than Sanusi.

Politics › Re: Poor Road Network At Iyana Ejigbo by Slizbeat(m): 5:18pm On Aug 17, 2013
It is good that this write-up has been posted here and I much appreciate it. I stay NNPC junction and work at cele xpress. Every morning I start at early as 7a.m trekking down to cele cos if I had to use a bus, I would most likely arrive cele by 9a.m to 10a.m. The truth of the matter here is that there is no other route to these areas that is virtually the largest most populated area in lagos state. How can a single road be connecting all these places together?

Pako roundabout connects isolo, okota-cele, jakande-bucknor-isheri-ijegun, N.N.P.C to iyana ejigbo, ikotun, egbeda, igando..... Just Pako ooo.

And again, lagos receives a whooping sum of 33billion or so annually(can't recall if its naira or dollar), which is the highest in Nigeria and it being the smallest state with about 3900square kilometers has no excuse whatsoever not to have good road network and access. If it should have any excuse with such amount and landmass, what do we now say about Niger state with about 76000square kilometers and less than 20billion?? We complain because we haven't received our own dividend of democracy, ask the Americans and they would school you better on what democracy is.

Lastly, many people divides lagos into two. The Island which is supposed to be called "Lagos Island" is being called "Lagos". How therefore do we think the other areas would be developed when we have already called the island alone LAGOS?? The govt. of the state therefore develops Lagos which originally is "Lagos Island".

Politics › Why Ngige Is Yet To Declare For Guber Race by Slizbeat(op): 9:25am On Jul 11, 2013
AS the people of Anambra State celebrate their
“liberation day,” former governor of the state,
Senator Chris Ngige has said that he was yet to
declare for the November 16 governorship
election in the state.

He, however, said that he acknowledged the
forthcoming election as a prime item on his
agenda, hence his decision to consult widely to
arrive at a sound, representative and acceptable
decision on the issue.
Ngige’s aide, Charles Amilo, said in a statement
said: “the preponderance of views from the
generality of Anambra citizens and their friends
is that Ngige should throw his hat in the ring and
lead Anambra State to renewed glory.

“However, he is taking a broader view of the
matter. He does not personally see the
governorship race as something he must go for
because he has been there before, but is
compelled by the need to cap the works and
vision that has only been marginally furthered in
the last eight years to put it into consideration,
alongside other options.
“He is currently dealing with family and political
associates in the final phase of his consultation
and will only make a proper declaration when all
loose ends are tied.

His statement, weekend, in Nkpor while on a
constituency visit to the Idemili Federal
Constituency underscores that what is prime at
this stage- is that APC registration was
paramount as Ngige is certain that however his
final decision goes, he is working assiduously for
APC to form the government in Anambra State
in March 2014.

‘’As Chairman of the South East Steering
Committee of the APC, Senator Ngige is also
deeply involved in the seamless transition of the
five political parties –ACN, ANPP, CPC and
majority groups in APGA and CPC, into the All
progressive Congress, APC, on which platform
he will likely seek the mandate of the Anambra
voters when he decides.’’

For over 30 years, we have being praying for Nigeria in distress, yet they keep losing track. With the way our government is running the affairs of this nation, am afraid there would be no hope for the coming generation o0.

Now I don't even have light for up to 6hrs in a day and yet they designated a day for total off after two days of partial 5hrs light brought only at 1a.m to 6a.m when am supposed to be resting while the government themselves enjoys an uninterrupted power supply with all their generating set's fuel tanks connected directly to oil wells.

Just last week, they increase their fixed charge to N750 from N500.
