The pastor of a friend of my informed him that he will love to have his personal website where sermons can be uploaded daily and books can be purchased online -that is installing paystack so that Payments and donations can be made to the church.
Now I introduced him to one IT guy in PH, the guy billed him $4000
This my Friend went to Lagos and got someone who offered to do it for 400k within 2weeks and will also train 2 people that'll be servicing and uploading sermons on the website.

Now, is this feasible with 400k and did the PH just want to rip my friend off?

Tor!

This one na Aboki statistics concocted at a gworo chewing stand in Kano.

I kept reading to see if Daily Trust will quote the source of the statistics but it couldn’t.

How can you tell me that Yobe generated 9.2bn of VAT in the period under review while Abia generated 2.2bn? How? What is the market or industry or government workforce that generated such money?

This is some piece of trash that will only accepted by zombies as authentic.

Another thing we need to do is to study the history of VAT generation of these states and juxtapose it with this present report and get a clearer picture.

This people can lie about anything.

That’s how they went on Google after 2015 elections and changed the population statistics of Nigeria to state that the Fulanis are the second largest ethnic group in Nigeria after the Hausas.

But fools keep cheering them on.
Even at that, every state should keep their vat just as u keep ut igr

OK it is a private investment.

Now, why call the Chinese to aid in the construction when our universities produces quality engineering graduates.

Is it a bad thing to pay our engineers the money that would be paid to these Chinese in the end.

Every action has its consequences.
These Chinese won't consider us humans. Try to understand this.
I don't know if someone has responded to you but if you understand private investment you'll realize that often time business men don't always have 100% of all they need to venture into businesses and enterprises of their choice. What option do they have then?
Borrow from commercial banks: banks in Nigeria do not give loans whose repayment are longer than 36months at most, the best you can get in Nigeria is 60 months and these are often CBN loans, and you know projects like this are long term projects whose returnnok investment are often also longer, so Nigerian banks will not listen to you.
What other option do they have? Look for other like minded Nigerians who have this kind of fund required for such project and are ready to invest long term. If I may ask how many Nigerians are ready to do this or rather how many Nigerians have the kind of funds required for such?
Finally what other option do we have: look for foreign investors to partner with you on this. This is where the Chinese come in. The individual Chinese may not personally have the monies but their govt have transnational banks that lend to Chinese going to other countries to build big projects at low interest rate and longer tenors of up to 10 to 15 years.
The Chinese have soft power. What is soft power? Enough Dollars to throw around?
Now if you are going to Kenya to build a university won't you want to go with some of your architect's or engineers etc? Of course you would especially when you're the one bringing most of the capital. But you'll also employ some locals there.
This is how private investment works. In the referenced investment for instance the Nigerians there partnering with the Chinese may not even be contributing cash, their only contribution is that they may have purchased the land to be used in the project and the business will be in the ratio of 60:40
60% to the Chinese and 40% to the Nigerians or even lower as the case maybe.
S this is how private investment works

Honestly, I have my reservations when it comes to the Chinese. No group of people do anything for nothing. What's in it for the Chinese? Not only that, these Chinese are the same people who threw Africans out of their homes in China and tried to blame Africans for coronavirus. The Chinese are extremely racist and their presence in Africa makes me nervous and concerned. This is how Whites came to Africa back in the day bringing 'greek gifts' and acting like they have our best interest at hand and before we knew it, our people were enslaved and shipped away to God knows where while those who were left behind were colonized. I don't trust other racial groups not because I am racist but because history has shown that they never mean well for us. Just saying.
So who would we rather turn to for development, capital and technological help.

See that bank you're working with now at your tender age will use and dump you and make you unemployable because the job market will not be as favourable as it is now that you are young. So save enough money to fund a master's degree in US or Canada. Abeg. No dull yourself oo. You will make it with your biochemistry degree better than working in one yamayama yahoo yahoo Nigeria Bank.

I love this response. As a banker myself, this is the best response so far.
December next year will make me 9 years in the banking industry. Withing this period I have earned a masters and PhD degree. My anticipated checked out from banking is March next year. I'm also pursuing the Canadian dream.
My advise, give yourself a target of say 3 to five years, write the goals u want to achieve. Education? Very important to prepare yourself for the future. I pursued a PhD so that at the worse I become a lecturer or hunt govt appointment. This has also enabled me chase the Canadian dream, lol.
So plan. With fintech and the telecom giants going into financial services, trust me jobs in Bank will become even more u secured (its not even secured even at its best moment)
Banking should be your launching pad. Trust me, you will become a Professor far far far far more faster than growing from an entry level to become an AGM, DGM, GM, ED, and CEO.
Lemme give u an idea check from your ET level to a full manager level, check the number of levels, you'll get what I mean. Except you have someone giving 1bn deposit, I doubt u can climb higher every year in banking. It's been 9 years for me, just one promotion. But I'm happy with my degrees cos it's only a matter of time, tick tok

Business › Re: Why Are Nigerian Banks Not Using The Credit Card System Like Other Countries? by slydog(m): 10:57am On Oct 29, 2021
shaybebaby:
Credit card is type of unsecured loan. With no securities backing the loan amount, the risk of lenders not getting their money back is higher.

Now, risk cannot be eliminated, it can only be managed or minimised. And with nothing in place to minimise the risks of defaults, sadly it will be virtually non existent in Nigeria for now.

Things used here to minimise risks usually include borrowers to demonstrate

1) proof of places lived spanning several years ( To be double sure you won't runaway)..utility bills, payslips, electoral roll, bank statements to that address.

2) pay slips and bank statements- to determine your income and based on that, the (un) likelihood that you can afford repayments.

3) information on your outgoings/ expenses to further buttress point no 2.

4) Credit history, whether you have any current debts, your history of paying those ( previous defaults, their frequency etc) ie how you have behaved in the past with other people. If you have no history, you are riskier.

In summary, the average Nigerian will have access to Credit when they can demonstrate that their are credit worthy.

So let's be honest, how many people can demonstrate the points I have listed above ( honestly without fudging anything?)

As someone mentioned, with unemployment at the current level, it is reasonable to expect that MOST will default.

With high levels of inflations, interest rates on the credit cards will not only carry a risk premium but also an inflationary premium meaning the repayments will be higher and thus adding to the financial difficulties of the holder.

Nigeria isn't ready for such on wider scale just yet. Too many unresolved underlying issues at present.
Nice write up, however there are ways round this.
I plan on starting up a credit card fintech, there are two already in the country and the opportunity is there. I just need like $100k to start

Apart from intelligence you also need political sagacity and ability to manoeuvre and lead people. Many of the young ones only want to steal and run away. Dimeji Bankole, Yeye Bello, Orji Kalu, are some of the young ones who have nothing to show for their leadership.

Joe Biden of America? You're talking of the great America whose system works. The system was once again tested early this year by Trump who wanted to remain in power by all means despite being one of the most powerful man in the world. But the enduring system Sent him away.

Putin of Russia? I don't think any country that aspires for real growth, development and betterment of the lives of her citizens look to Russia for comparisons. Pls call Canada UK, France, New Zealand, Germany, Luxembourg, let's compare ourselves with these countries and their leaders pls.

Xi Jinping of China? Yes he is 68 years old today but assumed office at the age of 60. Tinubu is 69years old today and plans on assuming office at the age of 71 in 2023. Them swear for us ni?
Aside that, you're comparing us with China where death by hanging is the punishment for corruption? Haba

Is Dubai a democratic country like us? No basis for comparison.

Hmmmm.....let me be silent though.
No one owes you nada.
On a normal north no like education, that's if you're in the North. Even if they offer u 15k is that what the best sch in the state is offering? Which state are u based?
When I said 20k lesson, I meant 20k per child, gather 3 kids paying you 20k each that's 60k plus the 50k salary and you'll have 110k in a month.

Comprehension.

If you're really a "master class" in chemistry, sit down and list the top 5 schools in your state and send your CV there, there's no how you won't get something (if you are what you say you are), better still relocate to Abj or other education living states closer to you to sell your craft to the superb schools there and make a living for yourself. If I were you, I'll target boarding schls that MAY even provide accommodation. Teach, get lessons etc. Who cares about being loved by the students when you cannot monetize your skills?
We are educated so we can monetize our "master class" skills!
I can list at least 5 secondary schools paying teachers above 80 to 100k here in PH.
Your location matters!
No one is asking you to go and do MSC when you are not financially stable.
I think you also need to change your mindset, very critical!
Going through this thread a guy with 3rd class seem to be living the life I want working for unicef, cos his mindset has taken him to where he is. No one has it easy, I don't have job to give, I searched for mine and went through the process to be where I am. Run your race bro.

I served in Kano, Tsanyawa lga precisely. Immediately after nysc I came back to PH. From PH I traveled to Lag and Abj for various recruitment test. I had the cash to sponsor my trips cos I was working and doing lessons. But this is if you're not a Northerners.
And if you are, are you a graduate? Can you teach? In every state there's always going to be top schools and employ good hands and pay well. I'll prefer teaching, trade etc than doing pay as you work for a laundry company anytime.

After nysc, I immediately picked up secondary sch teaching job, 40k. Money I made from nysc I used in picking up msc form. I was teaching in secondary, doing msc and ofcourse missing classes, but was also making money doing lessons for students. All the while I kept applying for jobs.

I totally agree with your 1st, 2nd, 3rd 4th and 6th paragraphs.

If this is truly the case then the North have no reason to be backward, with high negative indices on development indicators. If these indicators are efficiently utilized, why would you have the lowest education attainment ratio in the entire country?

From what you have said, it means that the problem of the North is clearly not the South. The problem of the North is the North.
