Not much of a commenter here, but read lots of your comments and bants on other political threads. I can conveniently say you're a good person, helping people you don't know, either through jobs, connect and information. You're also very patriotic to your tribe and political affiliations. I may have not benefitted from you, but Thank you for all you've done. Godspeed.

See greediness....And we want this country to get better but we are not ready to change our greedy attitude. That was how someone left CBN for PEF last year. It is well
Except you're a fresh graduate or do not have working experience, you'll understand that career growth can be vertical or horizontal. There is absolutely no patriotism in advancing ones interest or career; and in case you don't know, there's a level you'll also reach in career where you'll experience and expect to play politics, it's call board room politics.

Some people may stay in an organization if they see a clear cut route to rise to the top, even to clinch the coveted position, you must network and play boardroom politics, while some will get other jobs to advance their careers. It happens in every area of life. Career, like life is not meant to be static. This is why you see companies recruiting experienced hires. These experience hires are looking for the next level in their careers, some are looking for more pay, some are looking for more challenges to solve, various other reasons.

It's absolutely normal. In the banking industry, people jump from one bank to the other, and get the next level which translate to high pay and perks, that's why you go to some bank branches and you see very young managers, if they stayed in one place they may not get there fast enough.

In politics people jump from one party to other where they can get tickets with the hope of contesting and furthering their own agenda.

In the Universities, to become the VC is not a child's play, and there a Prof who I know, felt cheated from being the VC in a federal University, resigned and got a job in a state university, today he's the VC. Will you call that greed? He's looking for his own next level and advancing his career and realizing his dream.

What will you do if you've spent six years on one level in your place of work without promotion and you have an opportunity to get a better job, will you be patriotic and try not to be greedy by not taking the job so that others who don't have jobs can get it?

Let me leave you with Maslow’s hierarchy of needs that explains human motivation based on the pursuit of different levels of needs. The theory states that humans are motivated to fulfill their needs in a hierarchical order. This order begins with the most basic needs before moving on to more advanced needs. The ultimate goal, according to this theory, is to reach the fifth level of the hierarchy: self-actualization.

Self-actualization relates to the realization of an individual’s full potential. At this level, people strive to become the best that they possibly can be. The need for self-actualization can manifest in different ways, such as: Obtaining skills, Utilizing skills, knowledge, and talents, Pursuing life dreams etc

In general, self-actualization is the pursuit of personal growth, and if I have the opportunity for personal growth to achieve my dreams, such as a new and better paying job, travelling to Canada, joining politics to get appointment, my brother I will be greedy and will not be patriotic. I will grab such opportunities quickly.

Peace ☮️.

How long will it take for revalidation?
My bro, it's just unfortunate. I think customs or so did theirs and HV long concluded. I was expecting the ES who is said to be a technocrat & from the private sector to move fast, the faster the process, the less opportunity for undue political influence.
I just we just have to move on, if they call, good and fine. But we must move on.

I am sure this is why this exercise was cancelled. Too much political pressure. I am so gutted.
I'm not seeing political pressure here. This exercise was supposed to be completed within the validity of the waiver and unfortunately the commission did not complete it, hence this.

I still believe between 11 of March to date the board would have written back to the fcc for revalidation, you can't ask them to start again. It was also in March, if I'm correct that the chair of the fcc visited the board in Bayelsa, thus I want to believe this has been taken care of.

Just confirmed, the FCC chair visited the commission around 17th of March and this letter is 11th.

The chairman of the holding company and MD of the bank were in the previous board.
Adekunle Sonola for example lost out from becoming CEO of Union Bank so he retired. Glad to see him bounce back as board member of fbn

So because due process wasnt followed in removing a CEO, the whole directors had to be changed? Well, expect top management changes too o....the die has been cast.

A simple reinstatement plus some warnings would have suffice fa.
Simple reinstatement plus warning is not enough deterrent.
In the banking industry, before you are promoted to the rank of Manager, Senior Manager, Assistant General Manager, Deputy General Manager, GM, Deputy Managing Director and MD, your name will be forwarded to the CBN for vetting and approval. How much more the MD of a systemic important bank like FBN.
The former board said it's part of their policy that no MD will stay beyond 10 years, that is true and good corporate governance, but fell fowl of the law by not informing the CBN.

Welding the big stick will further prevent other banks from making this mistake that is just avoidable.

What I see here is Awosika and gang still want to cover up Oba Honeywell. Now honeywell is in big shit, they have to pay up.

Has any competitor come out to say they were denied the contract in favour of Dangote?

Dangote actually did the country a favour. No upfront payment from the government, no mobilization fees. He funded the project wholly and when it's time to pay back via tax credits, you complain.

He wasn't even refunded in cash. He was given tax credits ... meaning he won't be paying the equivalent tax of 22 Billion NGN.

Do you know how much would have accrued to his company if he had fixed the amount or invested it somewhere else?

Banks in Nigeria don't give you startup capital bro..

Stop making it look good
Ready all my comments here, I stated it clearly, banks don't give money for start up. If you were the bank too, you won't gamble depositors funds to a man just starting business and who doesn't know the intricacies of the business. I will prefer a tested and trusted hand who has whethered the storm of the business through it's up and downs and still standing, such a person understands what loan is.

This gap can only be filled by the govt, angel investors, yours savings, FaFs, and crowd funding. Have no time to sweet talk anyone more less a bank.

I won't also lend to a bar, I had a customer come for lending too, I wasn't interested.
However, there's a way it can be presented, a high class bar, where you have responsible gentle men visiting, where you won't have a run on your fund via fights, police raid and the like. There's a lady who run a club where rather than beer, you have wines going up to N50k per bottle, plus cat fish joint, plus steady security, GRA, we even got to put two ATM machines there, Location, location, location. cliche clients etc, strong fundamentals, every week she does over 7-9m. Yes, she got working capital. Already existing business too.

My business was existing before the loan and i was planning to expand, they classified my business has high risk. Profit was bellow N5 million and the collateral should be worth N100 million.
This was 2008 and maybe due to my age than. Does BOI support bars huh
This sounds funny.
In finance, collateral is what we call Second way out (SWO).
The aim of lending is not to sell your collateral, but rather to ensure you can do your business and pay back the loan without going under.
Thus, the First Way Out (FWO) in every lending, is via operational cash flow. Thus, even if you have collateral worth N1B and you're looking for a loan of N100m but don't have very good cash flow prospects, no serious lender will listen to you.
Because, even putting up your property for sale also involves costs and expenses plus legal cases which you the borrower will institute at the expense of the bank. This is why banks now place emphasis on cash flow/statement of account turnover which represents capacity to pay off the loan with interest and still survive.

No, banks don't finance start ups, this is where the govt and angel investors come in.

Do you by chance work with GTBank?

I run an FMCG business and need funds to increase my sales volume and currently have an healthy bank turnover but getting a loan has been difficult and saving has been a tall order!

How can I reach you?
Visit any branch of that bank that starts with P and tell them what you want. Just go there with your last six months statement of account, it can be from any bank statement and if your turnover is so impressive, you'll get a working capital facility within 10 working days.

Forget Nigeria Banks O!! Once requested for a loan of N10 million to upgrade my business to stage 2, only for the loan officer to request for collateral worth N100 million shocked
Look for investors online, but sign agreement 1st before discussing your ideas with anyone.
I won't this is a lie, but I can tell you now that banks are more relaxed in giving out loans, esp working capital. As long are you are really in the business, banks can now give you up to N20m working capital without asking for land or property. I work in a bank as a relationship Manager and I have given several of such with no collateral except for key man insurance and fire insurance. Specifically to people trading in fmcgs

I'm a yoruba man.
Though the charm did not work, the idea is alive.
Nigeria as presently constituted is not working. At the very least, enforcement of true federalism. Let every state or region govern themselves, control their resources and pay royalties to the center.
In the USA, every state have their own police department and quick action department while the FG own the FBI.
This is the least expected. In Canada, every province even HV their own flag, like the UK.
The idea of Boko haram is here to stay
The idea of ipob is here to stay
The idea of Oduduwa is here to stay
The hard choice needs to be made, no more standing on the fence. To hell with Tinubu.

If the recruitment were a scam to cover-up for those earlier recruited, how come a candidate got his 'connection' to call the ES and send his qualifications (B.Sc 3rd Class, PGD, MSc.), his application was confirmed, but came short of the standard. He could have been considered, but the 'connection' was told he can't be employed based on his class of Degree. The process is ongoing. I wouldn't want to say much but I won't.
