I know some guys don't fancy it because it kind of makes them look like a coward or sissy and it's also kind of old-fashioned but I've discovered it has a higher success rate than cold approach.

Reason being that the person recommending you for example her friend, relative or sister will divulge some information about your person which the Lady won't be able to gauge immediately from cold approach and get her interested.

Another added advantage is that peradventure she rejects, it won't hurt as much because the communication wasn't personal in the first place.

It has its own demerits too, but in my opinion better than cold approach.
