Poverty has indeed taken Nigeria and Nigerians to the cleaners. As a kid growing in Kano I will cycle to Aminu Kano to plane spot on Saturdays. Go to NAHCO and seen the number of cars coming in and going out for repairs. SEL's, Jags, rovers and even top of the range Hondas. Airfreight was cheap then and the pound at par so you just flew your car to the UK, Germany or the Netherlands for repairs. And if you bought it there the warranty will require this.

NAHCO had a huge car park for this. Nigeria has really deteriorated. People even flew their household belongings by air. Half our house moved by airfreight from Lagos when we moved in the late seventies by Panalpina. Nowadays students who study abroad cannot even afford to fly in their books after graduation. They just sell them off and return with their laptops. My mum came back with five pallets by airfreight including pots and pans. Return on BCal was N750.
