Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Who Is Tired Looking For Jobs? Lagos Strategic Conference: 5th July. by SOJ(m): 1:15pm On Jun 25, 2008
For the first time in a while, my heart is bursting with pride because of something indeginous and very Nigerian. Its inspiring in a great way to find Nigerians coming togeda in this manner.

I want to state that while you go about this forum, make plans to keep this unique forum alive by creating a unique forum/blog specially dedicate to information sharing, resource and knowlegde transfer and most importantly networking. Also, try to integrate working professionals in various fields useful to the growth of an entreprenuerial concern; graduates in the fields such as acocunting, computing and so on, can offer invaluable advice and support to the company/group of companies(AMEN!) that you come up with. For example, I am presently working for someone else but I have my own registerd company which was done 2geda with another working colleague. You would be amazed the number of graduates that are interested in entreprenuership but are reluctant to take 'the bull by the horns'!

I look forward to hearing good things from you VERY SOON!
The sky isn't the limit, permit me to say.

P.S.: CNN, where u at?coverthis story and not stories of our food crisis! LOL

Business / Re: Your BankPHB Experience? by SOJ(m): 9:40am On Jun 17, 2008
vislabraye:

I think people are carried away by the "innovation" they claim to have. But are they actually the most innovative? Dont have anything bad to say about them. I have an account with them, and they've been ok with me.

I think what BankPHB has are innovative brandmanagers and not innovative brands, sure enuf, nigerians are fooled by the current media hype about BankPHB having the most innovative brands in the banking industry not knowing that the paper media and TV journalists are probably paid to say such things undecided

Well, thanks for this CE,i was on the verge of opening an account with them,

Business / Re: Mobile Marketing Innovations Will Drive Etisalat Nigeria by SOJ(m): 12:01pm On Apr 15, 2008
Its not just thier lack of understanding of the 3G technology but their inabilty to appreciate Nigerians appeal for the many variants in services that 3G can offer. Operators need to adequately produce consumercentric 3G products aimed at not just catching our pockets but also satisfiying needs and servcies.

@swordfish
Celtel call center has one of the most organised and sought after jobs in the telecoms industry.U cannot compare ur pay package wit MTN CC.True dat, MTNCC comprises mostly contract staffs and d pay is infamously poor. By the way, there r rumours that Celtel will soon begin the use of similar staffing structure wit MTN i.e. contract. Thats the way of d world globally ( google it!).Contract staffing isnt bad, its just dat d way and manner MTNCC implements it is poor.

Jobs/Vacancies / Tips To Acing The Call Center Interviews/tests by SOJ(m): 11:08am On Feb 08, 2008
I'm posting this cos there may not be time to do so again cos this set of recruitment might be conducted very fast and urgently because the said operator desires to rollout very soon.So take note, aight?

Tips:

1.The interview might start with a call to you from an interviewer but know that you are probably on speaker phone and a conference of people will be listening to and assessing your response to the questions.
Logic: You are being assessed on your speaking skills, diction, ability to relate to people and friendliness.

2.You may be asked questions on call center operations so brush up your knowledge on call center work.
Logic: Your technical knowledge of call center is being assessed.

When u pass this stage, there might be a short computer-based test to test your basic knowlegde of computer and its operations (MS Office and so on).The computer test will also test your typing speed. This is important as you must practice before hand to type fast with little/no spelling errors.

On passing this stage, the final stage is an interview face-to-face with call center people. But i guess when u r finaly here you know what to do nah, abi? wink

a. Know all you can about call center business and operations
b.Be yourself
c.Be friendly and courteous

Note that this is the USUAL format for call center interviews in Nigeria but with KPMG handling this one, they may introduce an aptitude test(probably to reduce the number of applicants ).So be prepared for anything o.

Well, for this "orijo" you all owe me a brand new phone!!

Goodluck.

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: I'm Totally Fed Up With Job Hunting by SOJ(m): 11:43am On Feb 05, 2008
@ georgee
U know what? evryone on this thread has offered u something or the other that i am positive is meant for you to digest. Carefully consider applying d things u av read here and am certain an opportunity is close by, more than u think!
I must confess i was in your shoes till sometime september last year.I cant honestly remember the number of applications av made! but u av to come to terms wit the following truths which i did too:
1. Your lack of job is not as a result of your actions;it isnt because u were not good at a test/interview or the other but u just werent thier choice.Another company is out there who considers u THIER choice candidate.

2. Your situation is a result of your in-action; there is something you r not doing that is keeping u d way you are.could be dat u avent sought the hand of Divinity enough, or that u are not properly prepared for tests/interviews or you r just not doing something.

I advice u take a break from evrything else and do some soul searching; u might be surprised the things u will find!
Be honest wit urself and then launch out wit more optimism than b4.
I did this last year and in storylike version i landed a job in less than a month - all after just one interview.
Well,i dont mean this to be a single-dose formula that works evrytime, but something tells me u might need this advice to go on.

All the best!
