FINLAND based Nigerian self styled Prime Minister of the proscribed Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, IPOB in exile, Simon Ekpa has sent what he called palliatives to last for two weeks sit-at-home order in the Southeast starting from Monday, July 31, 2023.

In the video was a woman and man whose face were not shown distributing the sum of N7,500 to some people for 15 days, that is, N500 per day for each family.

Ekpa on his official Twitter Page available to SOJ WORLDWIDE, said, "Biafra Government has shared palliatives to Biafrans in preparation for two weeks sit-at-home that starts tomorrow 31.7.2023."

THE family of the leader of the proscribed Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu’s has confirmed that the handwritten letter displayed by Kanu’s Special Counsel, Aloy Ejimakor that ended sit-at-home order in the Southeast was actually written by Nnamdi Kanu.

This was as the self-styled Prime Minister of Biafra, Simon Ekpa has declared that the letter did not emanate from Kanu.

On Friday, Kanu’s Special Counsel, Aloy Ejimakor had addressed a World Press Conference where he displayed a handwritten letter from Kanu ending all sit-at-homes in the southeast.


But in a swift reaction, Simon Ekpa through his verified Twitter handle said, “Our attention has been drawn to the fake letter from the pit of hell being paraded by Nigeria media claiming that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu wrote a letter.

“It is not only a joke but an insult taking too far that the leader of the Indigenous People Of Biafra is being misrepresented in this way.

“As the Prime Minister of Biafra under the leadership of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, I call on all Biafrans to disregard the fake letter coming from DSS. We can’t take any order from the Islamic DSS and that is final.

“Mazi Nnamdi Kanu must be released and he must address Biafrans from Finland.

“That is the condition of the Prime Minister of Biafra and the Biafra Republic Government In Exile”.

However, Kanu’s younger brother, Prince Emma Kanu has confirmed that the letter actually emanated from the IPOB leader.

Emma Kanu who visited Mazi Nnamdi Kanu at the DSS detention last week said, “Anybody doubting it is insane.

“I visited him last week and he has re-iterated that several times. Nnamdi Kanu is not interested in killing or suffering people but in the freedom of his people. The letter is actually his handwriting and I can confirm it.

Ekpa in a new video released via his official Twitter Page monitored by SOJ WORLDWIDE, said the coming two weeks sit-at-home order in the Southeast is non-negotiable and that it will start from next Monday.


He released a Five-Point Agenda as follows:
1) Immediate release of Nnamdi Kanu from DSS dungeon.
2). Preparations for Biafran self referendum coming very soon.  The first ever self referendum will take place in Finland in October.
3).  To notify the world about the readiness of Biafran people to take their own freedom and their future into their hands. By sitting at home you create awareness, by sitting at home you crash the economy as a powerful weapon.
4). To demonstrate that Biafran Republic Government in exile is in charge and continued to enjoy 99% of the loyalty of the Biafran people in Biafra land. 
5) To invalidate the illegitimacy of those who parade themselves as the elected officials. This sit-at-home is the weapon to prove to Nigeria that we are ready to leave and exit Nigeria.

THE Leader of the proscribed Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has ordered an end to all sit-at-home orders in the South-East.

He also declared an end to any other proposed means aimed by the group at forcing the government to release him from detention.

The leader of the proscribed group made the declaration in a handwritten letter authorised to his special counsel, Aloy Ejimakor.

The letter was read to journalists during a world press conference in Enugu on Friday.


Going further, he declared that anyone henceforth engaging in any sit-at-home in the region is no longer his disciple.

The letter followed the refusal of a factional leader of the group, Simon Ekpa, to announce the cancellation and further declaration through his media platforms.

Also, Kanu warned Ekpa to desist from calling for any sit-at-home henceforth and to make a public announcement to the effect that he (Ekpa) receives a direct order from him (Kanu) to cancel any pending sit-at-home in place at the moment”.

Part of the statement read: “Simon, this is a direct order from me. I hereby instruct you to desist from calling for any sit-at-home henceforth.

“Equally, refrain from antagonising governors or persons in political positions because you are not in a position to know what they are doing on my behalf.

“I am ordering you to make a public announcement to the effect that you are in receipt of a direct order from me to cancel any pending sit-at-home in place at the moment.

“I embarked on this movement to liberate our people, not to enslave them.

“I despise and will despise any person or entity that wishes to inflict unnecessary hardship on our people. I have authorized Alloy to issue a press statement if you fail to make this announcement on your platform.

“Anybody still engaging in sit-at-home is not my disciple. Haters of Biafra and mindless murderers in uniform are hiding under cover of combating enforcers of sit-at-home to unleash mayhem against the same people we swore to defend.

“I have sent countless messages to those purportedly enforcing sit-at-home that they are not doing so in my name. I am not begging anybody to release me, just that Nigeria should have the decency to obey their own laws.

“The main issue which our people should address their minds to is the unconscionable delays in hearing the govt’s appeal at the Supreme Court, which is a situation not amenable to any sit-at-home. Therefore, sit-at-home is a waste of time, resources and energy.”

We have read the laughable and jejune statement by former Vice President and Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Candidate in the last election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

It is obvious that having been thoroughly defeated by the All Progressives Congress and now President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the former Vice President has not fully recovered from the shock of defeat, hence the current attempt to mischievously rake up another round of inanities that offend basic logic and rational thinking. In the ill-thought out and illogical statement, Alhaji Atiku accused the current administration of the governing APC of plotting to undermine the judiciary without providing any shred of evidence.

Apart from innuendos, insinuations and outright lies contained in the said press statement, the former Vice President Atiku didn't put forward any convincing argument to support his claims on how the President Tinubu-led administration and APC sought to undercut,  undermine and compromise the judiciary.

If the former Vice President believes in democracy and the sanctity of the Judiciary, as claimed, he would not engage in making spurious and wild allegations aimed at disparaging and discrediting an important arm of government that should serve as the bulwark  for our democracy.

He shamelessly resorted to this cheap attempt to intimidate and blackmail the Judiciary even when he is  party to a case before the Presidential Election Petition Court.

Let it be said that when it comes to matters of fighting for democracy and democratic ideals, rule of law and independence of Judiciary in Nigeria, President Bola Tinubu stands shoulder above Atiku Abubakar.

When President Tinubu was leading the charge against the emasculation of the judiciary and promoting the sanctity of rule of law as the building block for good governance as Governor of Lagos State between 1999-2007, under a PDP central government, Alhaji Atiku was nowhere to be found.

It is on record and to his eternal credit that President Tinubu, through the instrumentality of the law and Judiciary, successfully challenged many of the draconian and obnoxious decisions of the PDP-led Federal Government that trampled on the rights of the States as federating units.

Lagos State under the leadership of the then Governor Tinubu won over 13 cases up to the Supreme Court against the hydra-headed PDP administration at the centre. No leader with such a sterling and enviable credential as a champion of rule of law, independence of judiciary like President Tinubu will ever contemplate undermining the Judiciary as alleged by Alhaji Atiku.

President Tinubu won a free, fair and credible election. The February 25, 2023 Presidential election that produced him is the most transparent election ever conducted in Nigeria since 1999. President Tinubu and the APC absolutely have no reason to undermine the judiciary in the hope of any favourable judgement.

His lawyers and that of APC have presented very solid defence of the result of the election and we are sure the judiciary will impartially deliver its ruling on the basis of points of law and evidence before it, not based on presumptuous speculations and unfounded accusations. Atiku Abubakar should be honourable enough as a statesman to allow the Judiciary perform its sacred duty without harassment and this resort to self-help.

Attempting to discredit an important institution of State for selfish political end is disingenuous, shameful and unbecoming of a former Vice President of Nigeria. This desperation must stop.

PRESIDENTIAL candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of trying to compromise the Judiciary.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Bola Tinubu, candidate of the APC, as the winner of the Presidential election.

Tinubu secured 8,794,726 votes to defeat Atiku who had the second-highest figure of 6,984,520 votes, while Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) came third with 6,101,533 votes.

However, Atiku and Obi are challenging Tinubu’s victory at the tribunal, asking the court to void the outcome of the poll.

Part of the grounds for the challenge, the petitioners said, was Tinubu’s failure to secure at least 25 percent of votes cast in the federal capital territory (FCT).

However, Tinubu, through Wole Olanipekun, his counsel, told the tribunal that the FCT is the 37th state for electoral purposes and any other interpretation would “lead to absurdity, chaos, anarchy and alteration of the very intention of the legislature”.

‘PLOT TO INTIMIDATE JUDICIARY’

In a statement by Paul Ibe on Saturday, Atiku’s Media Adviser, the former Vice President said the APC and agents of Tinubu have “ceaselessly chosen to stand in the way of justice by making “catastrophic threats to anarchy if justice is not served according to their whims”.

Atiku accused the APC of plotting to intimidate the judiciary by harassing the judges involved in the petition and called on the international community to be alerted.

“The plot of the APC is simple: intimidate the judiciary, threaten Judges with arrest so that they will bow to their will.

This is a playbook from 2019 when they removed the CJN and then replaced him with Tanko Muhammad, who himself was later accused of corruption by his colleagues at the Supreme Court and resigned shamefully,” the statement reads.

“However, the APC Government never went after Tanko Muhammad as they did in Onnoghen’s case because it was never about corruption but the election. The APC has, over the years, built a reputation for Judiciary intimidation.

“They accused about 10 Judges of corruption, stormed their homes, and got them suspended and yet could not convict a single one of them.

Justice Sylvester Ngwuta of the Supreme Court could not recover from the embarrassment that he ended up dying in office.

“Now, they have initiated a new plot. This time around, they want to intimidate the Judges into delivering favourable judgments for them at the election tribunal.

We draw the attention of the international community and, indeed, Nigerians to this fresh plot to steal the mandate of over 200 million people.”

First and foremost, I spent my childhood days with the Igbos in Lagos. We cooked together, we ate together, we went to parties together. We wined and dined together, in fact, we were inseparable!

Former Biafran Warlord, Odumegwu Ojukwu went to 30-months-old war with the Federal Government with so many casualties from both sides including innocent Igbo children.

I was a kid in primary school with other Igbo children. I can remember Tata, Bright and Blessing who are my classmates. All I can remember under the heat of the war was that I couldn't find Tata, Bright and Blessing in School again.

I could not confirm if they were among the casualties of the civil war but I missed them greatly!

At that time, our parents are warned not to use lantern in the night again. As a kid, I didn't know the gravity of what was wrong, all my Igbo friends and their parents have escaped into the bush but our parents are still helping to shield some of them away from Federal troops who are looking for their hiding places to severe their heads for a rank in the military.


The war and bloodshed ended in January 30, 1970 with a slogan of "no winner no vanquished" to accommodate the Igbos into the Federal Government of Nigeria.

If there was anything Ojukwu regretted, it was the civil war.

Unfortunately, the elders who survived the war failed to relate the agonies of the war to their children who are now troubling them.


Neither Nnamdi Kanu nor Simon Ekpa were born at the time. They do not know the implications and the gravity of waging war against the Federal might.  We should vent our anger against the British who colonized us and Lord Lugard for his selfish amalgamation NOT against ourselves.


Coming to the present reality, there is no region that has not been marginalized. All the conglomerates of Oodua Investments including the Western Nigeria Broadcasting Service (Radio and Television), Ile-Ife University and others were taken over by the Federal Government after the war.

Every region suffered one neglect or the other.
It is impossible to cut off the head because one is suffering from any form of headache.


In my secondary school days we read Chinua Achebe's "Things Fall Apart and No Longer At Ease" literature books.


These are the books that portrayed the rich cultures and self esteem of the Igbos.

Recently, I watched two viral videos where a Lady exposed herself on the Social Media, her parents caught her unawares, she was given the beatings of her life that she will never ever forget in her lifetime.

People were cursing the parents who meted the corporal punishment on her until they saw the video where she was twerking naked. It showed that she came from a good home where discipline is a guiding principle.

The other incident was when a young man was seen beat his mother to stupor despite pleadings by the villagers that it is a taboo to beat ones own mother. The elders in the village did not take him to the Police Station, they dealt with him in a way that he will live to remember for the rest of his life. His legs and hands were tied to the tree, he was flogged severely with no one to rescue him. That was the African way of discipline.

We have a way of disciplining wayward children. Even the Holy Bible supported it, "Spare the rod and spoil the child."


It is the inalienable rights for some people to fight for their rights in any way they feel they have been cheated but the rights has a limitation when you are using yours to deprive others of their freedom.


The sit-at-home order by a faction of the Independence Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) has degenerated to that level when one begin to ask if there are no elders in Igboland.

When you are agitating for a Biafran Republic and start killing the same people you are supposed to protect, if eventually that agitation succeed, who are you going to use to bring good governance to the people?


Does it really make sense to destroy the economy of the same people you are agitating on their behalf?

What has federal government got to lose when the agitation is against your own people?

When Sunday Igboho was agitating for Oduduwa Republic, no single Yoruba man was attacked or killed. What Igboho did was to influence and campaign for support in every nook and cranny of the Southwest. He was called to order anytime he verbally attacked any Yoruba leaders. 

But can one say same thing to Simon Ekpa and his militant group? They are bent in destroying the entire Southeast because of Kanu.


Kanu is facing the same trial Chief Obafemi Awolowo faced in his time, he was sentenced to three years imprisonment.

I love the Igbos, they have become part of me, it is time the elders rise up to call their children to order. Hard stance with the Federal Government cannot release Kanu from detention but diplomacy and political solution can. The calls by some governors and leaders that Tinubu should release Kanu cannot bring lasting peace as there are factions already feasting from foreign backers at the expense of the ordinary man in the region.

The Yorubas did not wage war against itself when Awolowo was jailed for three years yet he became second in command from the prison under General Yakubu Gowon military administration.

The Yorubas did not ground its economy when MKO Abiola was arrested and eventually died in the custody of the Federal Government despite the fact that they knew he won the June 12, 1993 Presidential election yet Nigeria were forced to replace Abiola with another Yoruba man, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo as the President for eight years.

It would have been a double tragedy if the Yorubas had taken up arms against the Federal Government in a battle they knew they cannot win.

The economy of the Southwest would have been in shambles by now and we would have lost our brightest minds like how IPOB wasted Professor Akunyili along with that lady Army Officer, Lieutenant who was captured on her way home after passing out from the Army Academy, she was butchered like animals.

Is this the way to go, Igbo Kwenu?


Don't shy away to borrow wisdom from others who had passed through such experience in the past.  The children the elders and parents refused to train have now become terrorists troubling, collapsing the entire economy of the entire region.


It is senseless to declare sit-at-home for those who are still struggling, going through harsh economic hardships over the removal of fuel subsidy. It is callous of Simon Ekpa and his men to unleash terror on their own people. 

We are making the Western nations richer at our own expense when we used our meagre resources in exchange for their arms and ammunition.

The time to stop the madness going on in the Southeast is now! Those men brandishing guns are men that you know, they are your children, call them to order now before it is too late. 

I cannot afford to lose any of my Igbo friends again!

NIGERIA Police Command have arrested one of the suspected attackers of the Founder of Omega Fire Ministries, Apostle Johnson Suleman.

Suleiman’s convoy was attacked by gunmen along the Benin-Auchi Road, Edo State, on October 21, 2022 where seven of his security aides were killed.

Months after the attack, one of the suspects, Yusuf Ismail Isa, was paraded at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, alongside 19 other suspects accused of various offences ranging from murder to kidnapping, armed robbery and conspiracy.

Parading the suspects before journalists, the Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, said the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) has so far arrested 548 armed robbery suspects, 246 kidnap suspects, 365 murder suspects, 237 rape suspects and rescued 113 victims.


Adejobi disclosed that Isah was the suspect, who first pulled the trigger on the convoy of the cleric, adding that some of the rifles found in his possession were rifles snatched from the three police officers killed during the October 21, 2022 attack.


According to the police spokesman, the gang specialized in kidnapping for ransom and had carried out about four kidnapping operations between 2021 and 2023, before they were busted by the police.

Two members of the seven-man gang were said to have been gunned down in separate encounters with the police.

Items recovered during the raids include 306 firearms, 3,944 ammunition as well as $800 cash.

TRAGEDY struck when a private commercial helicopter belonging to the Manang Air bearing tail number NA-MV crashed near the Mount Everest region in Nepal, confirmed officials.


The helicopter took off from the Surke Airport in Solukhumbu district at 10:04 am for Kathmandu with six people aboard, including five Mexican nationals. The chopper lost contact at an altitude above 12,000 feet at 10:13 am, said Gyanendra Bhul, Manager at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), reported PTI.


However, the officials have now confirmed that the helicopter that went missing near the Mount Everest area in Nepal on Tuesday has crashed in a hilly terrain in the country's eastern region.



Five Mexican nationals of same family and pilot Chet B Gurung were aboard the helicopter.


According to MyRepublica news portal citing sources, the bodies of five of the six people on board the helicopter were found at the crash site.



The helicopter crashed in the Lamjura area of the Likhupike Rural Municipality in the remote mountainous Solukhumbu district.


The official said the locals have informed him that the helicopter crashed with a loud explosion and they saw fire at the crash site.



“The locals discovered the crashed helicopter at Chihandanda,” rural municipality Deputy chair Nwang Lhakpa was quoted as saying by the Kathmandu Post newspaper.


The last location of the chopper was tracked at 10:12 am in the Lamjura Pass area, said Raju Neupane, operation and safety manager of Manang Air. Local police have been mobilised in the area.


Two helicopters sent earlier to locate the crash site had to return due to bad weather, the Senior airport official said, adding that the exact reason behind the crash is not known yet.




Earlier, TIA spokesperson Teknath Sitaula told the news website, "It has been reported that the helicopter of Manang Air is out of contact, there is no contact with the tower when it reached the Lamjura pass, it was reported that the helicopter only received a 'hello' message on Viber, the search is underway”.



Founded in 1997, Manang Air is a helicopter airline based in Kathmandu. It has been operating helicopters in commercial air transportation within the Nepalese territory under the Regulation of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal. The company provides chartered services and is focused on personalised services such as adventure flights helicopter excursions or expedition work.


A detailed report is yet to come as a rescue operation is underway, said a senior official at TIA.

President Bola Tinubu will on Tuesday, July 4, 2023 open his defence at the Presidential Election Petition Court,(PEPC) to defend his victory at the Feb. 25 presidential polls.

This is in the petition filed by the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) and its presidential candidate, Alhaji Abubakar Atiku.

Counsel to President Tinubu, Mr Wole Olanipekun, SAN, made this known on Monday after the Independent National Electoral Commission,(INEC) closed its case against Atiku after calling a lone witness.

The electoral umpire opened and closed its case against the petitioners after calling the lone witness, Mr Lawrence Bayode and tendering some documentary exhibits in evidence.

One of the documents was a letter dated July 6, 2022, which Vice- President, Kashim Shettima,(the third respondent) wrote to the commission.

The letter was the notification of his decision to withdraw his candidature for senate under the platform of the All Progressives Congress, (APC) for the Borno central senatorial seat.

Bayode who was led in evidence by INEC’s lead counsel, Mr Abubakar Mahmoud, SAN, introduced himself as a Deputy Director of ICT for the commission.

Under cross examination by Olanipekun, the witness, asserted that the presidential election was free, fair, credible and conducted in compliance with the Electoral Act, 2022.

The witness, also told the court that the technical glitch that occurred on the election day did not affect the actual scores of the presidential candidates as manually computed by polling officers in the forms EC8As at the different polling units.

According to Bayode, INEC does not have an electronic collation system and results of the presidential election were manually collated and not electronically collated.

For his part, counsel to the APC, Mr Lateef Fagbemi, SAN confronted the witness with a publication in Tribune newspaper where the commission had, a few days to the election said that it would no longer be able to go ahead with the electronic transmission of results.

The document was admitted in evidence amidst strong opposition from counsel to the petitioners’, Mr Chris Uche, SAN.

Uche, while cross examining the witness asked him if he was aware of the recently released European Union Observation Mission Report on the Presidential Election.

The witness said that he was aware of the report even though he had not read it.

The respondents opposed the tendering of the document in evidence but reserved their reasons until the final address stage.

The court, however admitted the document in evidence and marked it appropriately.

Uche proceeded to show the witness a certified true copy of the report and asked him to read a portion of the report where the EU said only 31 per cent of presidential election results uploaded on the IREV were mathematically correct.

They further said that this was evident of the extent of training the commission gave to polling unit staff.

The witness also read a portion of the report where the EU stated that the 2023 election was not a transparent and inclusive election as had been promised by the commission.

The witness insisted that the technological innovations introduced by the commission into the electoral process were to guarantee transparency and integrity of the results.

Uche, however, insisted that there was no technical glitch on the day of the presidential election and that the only glitch was human glitch or an INEC glitch.

After the witness was discharged from the witness box, counsel to INEC told the court that that was the case of the commission as it had no other witness to call or documents to tender.

Justice Haruna Tsammani, Chairman of the five-member panel of the court adjourned hearing in the petition until Tuesday.

“The President was twenty-five minutes late to dinner! But he showed up, surprisingly, driving himself, followed by several security agents in another vehicle. When the president walked through the front door at Cooper Road, he looked tired.

“But you see, Prof, we were going to make Ife the capital. Then someone close to me, and even close to the Ooni, also advised against it. So, we ‘re still at it. But let me ask my darling Sade here where she thinks we should situate the state capital,” the president said with a mischievous smile.

Sade, who had been busy overseeing the dishes being served, and hadn’t be following the conversation closely, quipped: “About what, sir? Which state, Sir?”

“About the capital of the new Osun State, which would include Ife, I believe, Ede and definitely, Osogbo,” the president, still beaming with a smile, replied.

“Well, as you know, Sir. Yemi and I are the Ooni’s chiefs; obviously, our preference would be Ile-Ife. But if you have decided against Ife, which would be a real pity, the next logical place would be Osogbo, since Osogbo has a railway station, a Steel Rolling Mill, and I think, a huge NEPA facility!” Sade added, to which the president quickly exclaimed: “Ah! That’s my girl!”

“Ah, ah! Ibrahim, you are not a nice person! After making up your mind about Osogbo, you make it look like the idea was Sade’s! You are not serious!” Soyinka pushed back, leading to prolonged laughter around the table.

RENO Omokri lambasted Oby Ezekwesili over her silence when the Anambra State Government pulled down some shops allegedly built on waterways but cried out when Lagos State Government pulled down defective structures in Alaba market.

"Yesterday, hundreds of traders in Anambra protested against the ongoing demolition of their shops by the government.

This is the same Oby that danced naked in the streets when Deborah Samuel was burnt to death in Sokoto, but has remained silent till today after a pregnant Northerner from Adamawa, Harira Jubril, was killed in her home state of Anambra by unknown gunmen in broad daylight, with her four underaged daughters, Fatima, 9; Khadijah, 7; Hadiza, 5; and Zaituna, 2. The same IPOBy Ezekwesili that rolled on the floor of Aso Rock over #BringBackOurGirls.


Yet, IPOBy never condemned the killing of Ahmed Gulak on May 31, 2021. IPOBy will always cover anything that happens in the Southeast and blow out of proportion things that occur elsewhere. IPOBy Ezekwesili should just focus on your career as an IPOB apologist and stop gaslighting Lagosians.

A surprise video emerged in social media when President Bola TINUBU visited France recently.

At the Airport are dignitaries waiting to receive the President, a white woman, number three on the roll did something strange to Tinubu when he alighted from the Aircraft.

As he was coming, a Security man came in a jiffy to give the white woman a substance that she used to shake the President warmly. After the handshake she pocketed something in her jacket.

No one knew what actually happened but the camera captured it.

THE video evidence of confusion at the Eid Ground Osogbo showed some worshippers scampering for safety over what some called an assassination attempt on the life of the Executive Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke.

The man at the centre of the crisis was the former Spokesperson of the Senate, Senator Ajibola Bashiru popularly known as SRJ. He was said to have refused vacating the space meant for the Governor at the Prayer Ground.

SRJ said in a statement available to SOJ WORLDWIDE that he did not see Governor Adeleke throughout his presence at the Prayer Ground.  He only noticed that some people whom he could not recognize as the Protocol Officer of the Governor approached him to vacate the position meant for the Governor which he refused.

His refusal attracted some thugs who physically removed his Turban which resulted in the confusion.

Meanwhile, Governor Adeleke has called for calm, he added that he is safe and there was no cause for alarm.
In a Press Release by the Spokesperson of the Governor, Mallam Olawale Rasheed available to SOJ WORLDWIDE, he said there was an assassination attempt contrary to what SRJ made people to believe.

"My good people of Osun, I appeal for calm and urge us to continue to celebrate the Sallah festival in peace. I am safe by the special grace of God”, the statement quoted the Governor as saying.

“I have directed security agencies to arrest those behind the incident and get them to face the wrath of the law. The Commissioner of Police has been directed to arrest those involved no matter how highly placed.
The State Government had meanwhile condemned the orchestrated attacks on the Governor by stalwarts of the All Progressives Congress at the praying ground. Members of the public will recall an earlier security alert on an evil plot to destabilize the peace and stability of Osun state.
The government particularly notes with shock and surprise the role played by former Senator Ajibola Bashiru who took over the space reserved for the Governor at the prayer ground. All efforts to get the former Senator to vacate the space proved abortive.

PDP members who agitated for respect for the office of the Governor were beaten up. It was a scene of chaos by the time the Governor arrived for the prayer.
The government was even more shocked that thugs armed to the teeth were spotted all over the praying ground with security information that they were imported to eliminate the Governor and key government functionaries.
The Governor who arrived at the venue hoping to observe the Eid prayers was practically surrounded by armed thugs, prompting security men to ferry the Governor into his jeep.
For the second time, the Governor attempted to enter the praying field but the encirclement by armed thugs was already visible. It was at that point that the Governor had to leave the praying ground.
The Governor is now safely at home receiving guests and leaders from all walks of life."

Have you ever visited a place you haven’t been in a while, and it somehow manages to feel both new and familiar? That’s how I feel every time I go back to Nigeria.

It was amazing to return to Lagos and Abuja this week. I’ve been fortunate to spend a lot of time in Nigeria over the last two-plus decades, but it’s been nearly five years since my last visit due to the pandemic. Nigeria—and especially Lagos—is one of the most dynamic, vibrant places in the world, and I am always blown away by how much it's changed. At the same time, I loved getting to catch up with old friends and reconnect in person with longtime partners. (Remote meetings are great, but it’s nice to meet face-to-face on occasion.


This week also marked my first-ever trip to Niger. Our foundation has been working with talented Nigeriens for years to help ensure children's health and prevent the spread of polio, and it was exciting to see the country for myself and talk about the future of that work.


It was a great week. These were some of my favorite moments:

Nigeria’s next generation of innovators

Nigeria is one of the youngest, fastest-growing countries in the world. The number of people between the ages of 20 and 40 is projected to double by 2050, from around 62 million today to 123 million.That’s a huge number of people who can use their passions and skills to help solve big problems—and I was excited to speak with some of them at the Youth Innovation Forum in Lagos. Students from the Lagos Business School and I talked about how you can make a difference while also turning a profit, how Africa can maximize the tremendous potential of its human capital, and why jollof rice is one of many good reasons to visit Nigeria.

An inspiring champion for maternal heal

I met with Professor Bosede Afolabi at the Randle Maternity & Children’s Hospital, where I got to see firsthand her pioneering work on intravenous iron fusions. One of Dr. Afolabi’s patients had anemia—an often-dangerous condition created by low iron levels—after having an emergency C-section. She received a simple 15-minute treatment that was really going to help her recover. It was awesome to see such promising work up close. I’m hopeful IV iron could one day save hundreds of thousands of lives.

Catching up with Aliko Dangote

I’ve been lucky to call Aliko Dangote a friend for many years. We have a ton in common: Both of us started successful businesses and then, for our second acts in life, we chose to start foundations aimed at improving health and education. I got to spend lots of time with him this week, and it’s always super fun to catch up with him in person. He’s been an invaluable partner to our foundation over the years—especially in his native Nigeria—working together on issues like malnutrition, food fortification, and polio

Checking out the future of agriculture in Lagos

Nigeria is home to some of the most interesting work being done in agriculture, and I had the opportunity to check out a few of the most promising innovations in the pipeline. I was especially excited to hear more about Aflasafe, a product that protects crops from a deadly compound called aflatoxin that is created by a fungal infection. (It’s estimated that nearly a third of all liver cancer cases in Africa are due to aflatoxin exposure.) They have a novel approach to scaling up and supporting farmers, and I’m optimistic their product will save many lives.


Meetings with leadership


I was honored to meet with President Mohamed Bazoum (left) in Niamey, Niger and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (right) in Abuja, Nigeria, as well as with the Sultan of Sokoto and traditional leaders from across Nigeria (below). It was inspiring to hear all of them talk about their work to make progress on today’s biggest challenges.


Sitting down with Ebuka Obi-Uchendu

Ebuka is probably best known as the host of Nigeria’s version of Big Brother, but I got to know him when he hosted our foundation’s Goalkeepers event last year. I loved getting the chance to catch up with him in Lagos, where we talked about the power of youth innovation, climate change, and more.


Making solar power more accessible

Nigeria faces serious energy challenges, including an unreliable grid that often leaves people without power for hours at a time. Many households and small businesses rely on loud, dirty diesel generators to make up for it—but a Breakthrough Energy Ventures–backed company called Arnergy is hoping to change that. It was super cool to see their hybrid solar power generator and lithium storage unit in person.

Improved tools and data to help babies survive and thrive

I’ve visited a number of neonatal care units at hospitals throughout my career. They’re always one of the most intense places to see in person. It’s a high stress environment, and a program called NEST360 is working to ease some of the burden. NEST360 partners with hospitals in four countries across Africa to implement critical innovations for sick newborns, like warmers and CPAP machines. It also uses data to improve outcome for these babies. (NEST stands for Neonatal Essential Solutions and Technologies.) I got to see firsthand how access to these technologies is saving lives at the Massey Street Children’s Hospital in Lagos.

It was a busy but inspiring week in Nigeria and Niger. I left more convinced than ever that, with support, young people can develop innovative solutions to transform Africa’s future. I’m looking forward to continuing work with our foundation’s many outstanding partners across the region in the years ahead.

AN Anambra Radio Broadcaster identified as Hugeman Orakuwe has urged indigenes of Anambra living in Lagos never to contemplate coming back home.

He made the call in a viral video on the official Tweeter Page of @ijeleSpeaks2 monitored by SOJ WORLDWIDE Correspondent.


He said, the security situations in Anambra State is precarious and nothing seemed to be working as the state is lawless.

He narrated a nasty experience he had when he went out at 9.30pm and he could not find any vehicle plying the roads as everywhere was empty that made him terrified.

RENO Omokri has reacted to Peoples Democratic Party's (PDP) allegation at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu that he presented himself as a female student when he attended Chicago State University in the United States.

Omokri, in his reaction in defence of Tinubu said he personally visited the varsity to confirm if the President attended and came out with his degree as claimed.

In his Official Twitter Page monitored by SOJ WORLDWIDE, Omokri said he belongs to the PDP, nevertheless, truth must be told.

I worked for Waziri Atiku Abubakar to win. I pray he unseats Tinubu at the Presidential Election Petition Court. And I am not pursuing any political appointment, or job offer from Tinubu.

However, it is false to assert that Bola Tinubu did not attend Chicago State University.

I went there physically. I did a video broadcast from their campus. I met their officials.

Tinubu attended and graduated from the Chicago State University with honours, and they even have a photo of him in their alumni office as one of their most accomplished alumni.

Not only did I go there physically to expose Tinubu (only to find out that he attended), I also asked their registry to put what they told me in writing. Attached is the letter they gave me.

You can also go there physically, as I did, or email or phone them if you doubt this letter given to me. The man is no saint. His past cartel links indelibly taint him.

But let us be fair, honest and transparent as we oppose him.

If we attack Tinubu based on lies, God will just disappoint us further and appoint him greater.

THE Acting Inspector General of Police (AIGP), Olukayode Egbetokun formally resumed duty to oversee the Nigeria Police in Nigeria while the ex-IGP, Alkali Baba retired.

In a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi available to SOJ WORLDWIDE, Egbetokun promised to "unveil new tactics to release the great potential the Nigeria Police Force possesses to secure the nation, build lasting peace, and deliver on the vision of the President for a thriving and prosperous Nigeria."

Alkali Baba retired along with other Service Chiefs  on Monday, June 19, 2023 having attained maximum years of service to the nation.  He was known to have used principle of Carrot and Stick to instil discipline in the force during his tenure.

"The Inspector General of Police, Ag. IGP Egbetokun Olukayode Adeolu, PhD, NPM, today, 21st June, 2023 assumed duty as the Inspector General of Police of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He was appointed by the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, on 19th June, 2023. He takes over from IGP Usman Alkali Baba, fdc, CFR, who retired after 35years of meritorious service to the nation. The handing/taking over of leadership between the former and new Police Chief was held in a brief but colourful ceremony at the Force Headquarters, Abuja. The event was climaxed with the symbolic handover of the Nigeria National and Police flags.

2. The new IGP, who is the 22nd indigenous Inspector General of Police, appreciated the President, Commander in Chief, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR for the confidence reposed in him stressing that the appointment is a commitment, a calling to make a difference in the shared mission to safeguard the lives and well-being of everyone that lives in our great country.

3. Ag. IGP Egbetokun Olukayode Adeolu, PhD, NPM, hails from Yewa South Local Government Area of Ogun State. He was commissioned into the Nigeria Police Force on 3rd March, 1990 as a member of Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police Course 16 from the prestigious Nigeria Police Academy. He holds a Doctorate degree in Peace and Security Studies, a Post Graduate Diploma in Petroleum Economics, a Masters in Business Administration, a Certification in Electronic Data Processing/Computer Programming, a Masters in Engineering Analysis, and a Bachelors in Mathematics.

4. The amiable policing strategist and accountability icon, has held several strategic positions in the past cutting across all the departments of the Force. These include: Commander Rapid Response Squad (RRS) Lagos State Command, Area Commander Osogbo, Osun State, and Gusuau, Zamfara State, Commandant Police Training School Ikeja, Commissioner of Police Explosive Ordnance Department, Commissioner of Police Kwara State Command, Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 7 Abuja amongst others. Until his appointment as the Ag. IGP, he was the Deputy Inspector General of Police in-charge of the Force Criminal Investigations Department.
