THE daughter of Senator Ike Ekweremadu has expressed her sadness over the jail terms handed her parents by the United Kingdom Court for trying to safe her life.

Sonia Ekweremadu who felt dejected said she feels guilty that her parents are going to prison for her sake in organ harvesting allegation at the United Kingdom.

SOJ WORLDWIDE reported that a United Kingdom Court on Friday sentenced Ekweremadu to a total of nine years and eight months imprisonment, while his wife, Beatrice, was sentenced to four years and six months imprisonment for plotting to harvest a man’s kidney.

The third accomplice, a Medical Doctor, Dr Obinna Obeta, was jailed 10 years. Ekweremadu, 60, and his wife Beatrice, 56, wanted a new kidney for their 25-year-old daughter Sonia.

In an interview with BBC after the court judgement on Friday, Sonia said she felt guilty about the whole situation.

“I don’t think it will ever be the same again. And obviously, I feel guilty because I feel like all these have happened because of me,” she said, while holding back tears.

On how her parents have handled their current reality, the 25-year-old who admitted that she can’t speak about what they truly feel, said they are “quite calm”.

“They are quite calm, surprisingly. But I can’t really speak about what they are feeling. This is just from an outside perspective of me seeing them. They are okay, they are just neutral,” Sonia said.


On what she has learnt over the whole saga, Sonia said, “Life is just some dynamic. Like you’re one day in your house chilling and the next day your whole life is turned around, upside down.”

Speaking further on the court judgement, she added, “It’s sad. It’s been really hard to wrap my head around it. I understand the conviction. Personally, I disagree with it; however, that’s from a very biased perspective as their daughter, and I would obviously back my parents.

“However, the law has taken its course, and we just have to now move forward as a family.”

Asked about what she would be doing next, Sonia said, “My main focus is to try to help, specifically people with kidney conditions. This is just to show them they don’t need to be scared.

“I will continue to support my parents and siblings as well.”

THE Lecturer of the Imo State University (IMSU), Dr. Desmond Izunwanne was seen in a viral video monitored by SOJ WORLDWIDE slapping a  pregnant female student for coming late to lecture room and for not being in their departmental uniform.

The Lagos State Government has published the photos and names of three adult males convicted for different sexual offences in the state.

In a tweet on Monday, the State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency identified the sex offenders as Idowu Daniel, Moses Olawale and Akin Isaac.

Their identities were made known via the official Twitter handle of the state Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency, @Lagosdsva.

“Justice has been served,” the agency said while giving an “update on publication of details of sex convicts as maintained by Lagos State.”

The details of the publication include the names and pictures of the sex offenders, the nature of their offences, as well as the duration of the sentence handed down by the courts.

According to the agency, the first offender – Idowu Daniel – was convicted of sexual assault and was sentenced to seven years imprisonment.

“Idowu Daniel whose picture appears here was convicted for the offence of sexual assault and was sentenced to seven years imprisonment at the Lagos State High Court,” the tweet read.

The second offender, Moses Olawale, was convicted of sexual assault by penetration and sentenced to 37 years imprisonment, the third offender, Akin Isaac, was sentenced to 21 years imprisonment after he was convicted of defilement.

“Let us continue to demand justice for survivors,” the agency said, urging the public not to cease to get justice for domestic and sexual violence victims.

Last May, the agency announced that it would start to publish the details of sexual offenders.

Executive Secretary, Mrs Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, who disclosed this during a press conference at the agency’s office in 2022 said the move was in furtherance of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s zero tolerance for all forms of domestic and sexual violence.

After the announcement, the agency published the details of two sex offenders who were sentenced to life imprisonment.

They included Gbenga Olasunkanmi and Bashiru Obasekere who were both convicted of defilement.

LAGOS State has blazed the trail as the first State in Nigeria to introduce Electric buses for Mass Transit in Lagos.

The Governor of the State Babajide Sanwo-Olu announced the new innovation to ease mass movements of commuters in the State.

Igbo youths under the aegis of Coalition of South East Youth Leaders, COSEYL have condemned in strong terms the demolition of buildings in Ajao Estate by the Lagos State Government, accusing Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu of fanning the embers of ethnic hostilities.

At least 13 houses have been pulled down at the estate since the demolition began on Friday.

General Manager, of Lagos State Building Control Agency, LASBCA, Gbolahan Oki, said the affected buildings lacked required approvals and were cited around airport-restricted areas and on aviation fuel pipelines.

Describing the situation as a disaster waiting to happen, Oki said the buildings could cause a pipeline explosion in the future which according to him, could result in loss of lives and properties.


The LASBCA boss also said the property owners lacked the required documents as approvals for construction in that area.

But in a swift response, COSEYL claimed that most of the affected buildings were owned by Igbo people living in Lagos.

The apex Igbo socio-political youth group in the South East dismissed the excuses by LASBCA as flimsy, alleging that the action was a political vendetta.


It claimed it was targeted against Ndigbo for voting against the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC, in Lagos during the just-concluded general elections.


COSEYL in a press statement by its President General, Goodluck Ibem, called on Governor Sanwo-Olu to immediately halt the action to avoid igniting civil unrest.


The statement read in part: COSEYL is enraged over the massive demolition and destruction of houses and property belonging to Igbos in Rockview Ajao Estate and other areas supposedly won by the Labour Party, LP, during the presidential elections in Lagos State.

“This is wicked, barbaric, senseless, and stupidity of the highest order.

“Governor Sanwu-Olu is gradually building up anarchy and a war that might consume the entire Nation. We warn him to retrace his step and stop forthwith the demolition of Igbo houses in Lagos State.”

COSEYL further alleged that the situation had confirmed that the Lagos State Government had explanations to offer in the fire outbreaks in some Igbo-dominated markets in Lagos.

It challenged the State Government to explain all it knew about ” the attacks and killings of Igbos during the general elections in Lagos”.

The statement further read: “Dr. William Wilberforce Chuba Okadigbo of blessed memory ones said that:” If you are emotionally attached to your tribe, religion or political leaning to the point that truth and justice become secondary considerations, your education is useless. Your exposure is useless. If you cannot reason beyond petty sentiments, you are a liability to mankind”.

“We call on President Muhammadu Buhari to call Governor Sanwu-Olu to order before he throws the country into anarchy and lawlessness.

“Nigerians no matter the tribe are constitutionally empowered by law to live in any state or community of their choice and that law to bigger than Sanwu-Olu and his partners in crime to change overnight.

“We call on the United Nations and the international community to immediately intervene while also placing a visa ban on Governor Sanwu-Olu and his partners in this wickedness against humanity.”

LAGOS State Building Agency (LASBCA) commenced the demolition of buildings at the Ajao Estate in the State.















According to the General Manager of LASBCA, Gbolahan Oki, the property owners contravened the basic requirements of the State Government.

















In addition to this, the buildings lack proper approvals, planning permits and the properties were erected on pipeline which could cause fire tragedy.















“We have realised that property owners in the Ajao Estate and Shasha close to the MMA lack necessary building approval which is a basic requirement. They also lack planning permits. Secondly, they are building on a pipeline and this could cause fire incidents.






We have served four notices to the occupants of these houses several times for them to come up with what they have. Some of them came with approval but we found out that they were fake approvals. Some came with different documents and after that, we served them the necessary permits to move on.
All these property owners have been served by FAAN since 2016 and LASBCA gave the residents more than two months to relocate. Unfortunately, some of them even went ahead to cover the demolition marks on the houses with paint. Today we will embark on the demolition of about 13 houses.”

A vulcaniser, simply identified as Bolaji, was killed on Saturday after stray tyres from an articulated vehicle knocked him down in front of his vulcaniser stand, at Fakunle Area, Osogbo, Osun.

It was reported that the accident, which occurred at about 7 am, left many sympathisers traumatised, as the head of the deceased was reportedly broken by the impact of the tyres.

An eyewitness, who was lucky to have escaped being knocked down by the tyres, explained that the two tyres, attached to a rim, bounced and knocked down the vulcaniser, who was standing in front of him.

He said the tyres later bounced off, after hitting the vulcaniser, to knock down a woman that was selling food close to the vulcaniser and her daughter.

“I and my friend Murphy were discussing with the vulcaniser, where he was brushing his teeth with a chewing stick, before a woman that was traveling to Ore/Ondo called him for direction.
“It was while giving direction to the woman that the tyres flew off from the vehicle, knocked him down and killed him instantly.
“If he had not gone to attend to the woman, he would not have been hit by the tyres,” he said.

However, the witness and other commercial motorcyclists later chased after the trailer driver, who veered into Ataoja Police Station in Osogbo after sensing danger.

It is reported that the driver is now being detained by the police at the station, with the vehicle.

However, the other two persons knocked down by the tyres, had been taken to Osun State University Teaching Hospital, where they are reported to be recuperating.

The late vulcaniser’s corpse is said to have been removed by his family members.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has asked a Federal High Court in Abuja to dismiss a suit filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against President-elect Bola Tinubu, The Cable reported.

The PDP and Dino Melaye, a chieftain of the party, had filed an order of mandamus to compel the NDLEA to arrest and prosecute Tinubu over an alleged forfeiture of funds relating to narcotics trafficking in the US.

In a preliminary objection filed on Wednesday, Joseph Sunday, Director of prosecution of the NDLEA, said the application by the PDP and Melaye is “incompetent” and that the court lacks the jurisdiction to entertain it.

The Anti-narcotics Agency said the suit by the opposition party should be struck out because it is “political in nature”, adding that it is not in the interest of Nigerians.

The NDLEA said the suit was targeted at removing Tinubu as a bonafide candidate in the February 25 presidential election.

The Agency argued that an order of mandamus is an equitable remedy and should only be applied in good faith and should not produce an indirect or underlying result.

“The doctrine of judicial self-restraint precludes this honourable Court from delving into matters with political colouration or matters aimed at getting direct or indirect political goals,” the suit reads.

‘LEGALLY UNSUSTAINABLE’ APPLICATION
In an affidavit supporting the preliminary objection, Chia Depunn, a litigation officer attached to the NDLEA Directorate of prosecution, said the Agency has a “healthy relationship” with the US Government, and that Tinubu’s name has “never featured in the exchanges” in a drug case between the two countries.

“The NDLEA has a healthy relationship with the government of the United States of America, the name of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu by whatever acronyms or combination of names has never featured in the exchanges we had with the United States of America,” he said.

He said the name of Tinubu “has also not featured in the radar and database of the agency as a person arrested, investigated or prosecuted in connection with drug or other related offences”.

“That this suit as presently constituted does not confer the Court with jurisdiction.

That the 1st Applicant does not have Locus Standi to institute this suit as it does not possess interest peculiar to it and above the interests of all other Nigerians,” the affidavit reads.

“That the suit is baseless, frivolous and brought in bad faith with the sole aim of achieving a political objective using the instrumentality of the court process. That the facts and circumstances of the case require the court to apply the doctrine of judicial self-restraint.

“That the Order of Mandamus must be applied in good faith to promote the public interest. That the Order of Mandamus should not produce an indirect or underlying result.

“That the suit was not a criminal indictment or charge. That the standard of proof in civil forfeiture is based on the balance of probabilities. That the standard of proof in a criminal indictment, charges and proceedings is proof beyond a reasonable doubt. That the burden of proof in criminal procedure is much higher than that of civil procedure.”

The NDLEA said the application by the PDP is “dead and legally unsustainable”, adding that the court should “dismiss this suit with substantial cost”.

A public health physician and Chief Executive Officer of Fest-Michelle Consultancy Services, Dr Festus Adetonwa, has advised men to examine their wives’ breasts before sucking them.

He said there could be discharges from the breast like blood which men should always watch out for when engaging in the act.

He said this at the grand finale of a three-day Health, Safety, and Environmental Management workshop facilitated by the Industrial Training Fund for The PUNCH staff members on Friday.

Speaking against the backdrop of rising cases of breast cancer and how a woman can be on the lookout for possible symptoms, Adetonwa said most men don’t examine their wives’ breasts before sucking because they mainly engage in sexual acts at night time and may unknowingly take in discharge into their mouth, which could be a sign of breast cancer.

HE SAID,
“The problem is that most men don’t suck their partners’ breast during the day, they suck in the night, so they don’t know if the breast is discharging milk or blood. Men need to confirm from the women because some of them have discharge,” he added.

Speaking further on the prevention of breast cancer, he encouraged women to also engage in prolonged breastfeeding.

HE SAID,
“When they ask you to do exclusive breastfeeding at the hospital, it’s not because it will help your baby to feed alone but it will also help the woman and protect against breast cancer.”

This is the video of a young girl said to be 17-years-old driving long truck across cities in Nigeria.

According to the narrator, he said the government of the United Kingdom (UK) wanted her services.

The Federal Government has declared Monday, May 1, as a public holiday to mark this year’s Workers Day celebration.

The Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government.

Aregbesola, in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Shuaib Belgore, on Friday, commended workers for their hard work, diligence and sacrifice, noting that their efforts are largely responsible for the greatness of the country and the respect Nigeria now commands in the comity of nations.



THE MINISTER SAID,
“There is dignity in labour, we have to have dedication and commitment to the work we do because it is vital to nation-building.”

He enjoined workers to imbibe the culture of productivity, saying “The end of work is productivity. It is productivity that leads to satisfactory provision of goods and services and wealth creation.

It is therefore the path to national and individual prosperity.”

The minister urges workers to raise the bar of their trade in line with the regime of President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd)’s drive to upgrade the vehicle of governance and make all the people of Nigeria derive maximum benefit from the nation.

The minister commended all security agencies for the successes recorded in the fight against criminals across the country, as he encouraged them not to relent but go all out to deter the criminals whenever they raised their heads.

If I had known, I would not have played the American Visa Lottery. The lottery I played has put an indelible scar in my heart, causing me pains daily as I move closer to my grave.

I am now 64 years of age. My undoing was the Visa Lottery I played in 2007. Prior to this time, all was well and going smoothly in our family. I had married my wife in 1985. We were blessed with three boys and a girl.

The girl, Moyosore was our first child. She was born in 1986. The boys came thereafter in 1988, 1990, and 1994.

My wife was a full-time housewife. She had everything at her request. A chauffeur-driven car, two house helps, and other conveniences were at her disposal. I was a trained and an accomplished electronic engineer and a senior management staff at the defunct NITEL

I travelled around the Nigeria. My assignments most times were between the Federal Capital Territory of Abuja and Owerri in Imo State. I however ensured that I was in Lagos at least twice a month to see my family. That was between 1986 and 1997.

I retired in 1999 to start my own private company which continued to triumph to God's glory.

In 2007 I joined several other Nigerians to play the visa lottery of the United States. I was among the few thousands who won. I was happy, not because of myself but because of my two younger children who would have the benefit of automatic citizenship of America.

My older children Moyosore and Aanuoluwapo were already schooling in Canada at the time.

Hmmmmm... One of the major conditions for granting the visa was blood screening, and conduct of DNA for beneficiaries' dependants. I had submitted necessary documents, and made payments for our screening at the popular St. Nicholas Hospital on Lagos Island. We did the tests as recommended. The results were to be sent directly to the embassy.


I got a letter at a later date that I should present my passport and my wife's for visas. On enquiry, they said the kids I presented weren't mine. I almost lost my sanity! My kids weren't mine? "Is that possible?" was my unending song. I found it difficult to comprehend. Because it happened close to my birthday celebration, I invited Moyo and Aanu home - under the pretext that they were coming to celebrate with me - and had their DNA carried out. Alas, only Moyosore was my authentic child!

I became sick, and almost passed on. I was hospitalized for one month. I eventually lost the opportunity to complete the processing of the visas as I was no longer myself. Of what need was the visa without my kids?

When I got over the shock, I confronted my wife. She was mad at me. She called me unprintable names and said I was a failure. I kept my peace and moved on. The following week, I invited her to a friend's party. On our way back I parked the car and pulled out of the road. She asked why, and I told her not to worry. I then raised the matter again. She rained abuses on me, and called me a drunk.

At that point, I pointed a pistol at her side and threatened to kill her and dump her on the abandoned road. I showed her a copy of the DNA I got on Aanu, and the notification I received from American embassy.

At that point my wife became a parrot. She swallowed her pride and confessed. She said Aanu was fathered by David, a friend and colleague of mine who was more of a brother than a friend. We had been friends for almost 30 years.

Tunde and Bidemi were sons of our house help Kingsley. Kingsley was from Benue. He worked with us for almost 15 years. I had noticed my wife's special interest in him but never knew he was sharing her with me.
It has been 10 years after the ugly incident, and revelation. I survived the shock but Adunni never! She died two years after. She didn't wait to tell the kids and sort out the problem and havoc she caused.
Till date the children are unaware of my predicament. They are doing well. The last, Bidemi, now 23, is working in a multinational company. He graduated at 19. His two brothers and sister are also doing great overseas.
Now I am 64. I have written my will again and again. I have deleted the names of the boys from my last will, even though I have not gathered enough courage to inform them that I am not their biological father. I have not told anyone either, and it is killing me day by day.
Should I inform them all, or tell only my only daughter who is my only biological child??
Or I should just die with the secret??

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has suspended a young female controversial lawyer, Ifunaya Delilah, over indecent dressings, nudity, smoking of weeds.

Ifunaya Delilah, who was about a year ago called to the Nigerian Bar, was reportedly suspended over indecency, nudity and weed smoking.

Reports have it that Ifunaya Delilah gained notoriety online posting images of herself in a wig and gown along with other semi-naked pictures, immediately after she was called to the Bar a year ago.

Delilah smokes marijuana, and an examination of her social media accounts reveals that they are symptomatic of someone with a high libido.

While some have questioned her purported suspension by the body of benchers, others have dubbed her a model, who showcases her art differently.

A complex but concerning method of gaining control over a user’s iPhone and permanently locking them out the device appears to be on the rise.

Some iPhone thieves are exploiting a security setting, called the recovery key, that makes it nearly impossible for owners to access their photos, messages, data and more, according to a recent Wall Street Journal report. Some victims also told the publication their bank accounts were drained after the thieves gained access to their financial apps.

It’s important to note, however, this type of takeover is hard to pull off. It requires a criminal essentially watching an iPhone user enter the device’s passcode – for example, by looking over their shoulder at a bar or sporting event – or manipulating the device’s owner so they’ll share their passcode. And that’s all before they physically steal the device.

From there, a thief could use the passcode to change the device’s Apple ID, turn off “Find my iPhone” so their location can’t be tracked, and then reset the recovery key, a complex 28-digit code intended to protect its owners from online hackers.

Apple requires this key to help reset or regain access to an Apple ID in an effort to bolster the user’s security, but if a thief changes it, the original owner will not have the new code and will be locked out of the account.

“We sympathize with people who have had this experience and we take all attacks on our users very seriously, no matter how rare,” an Apple spokesperson said in a statement to CNN. “We work tirelessly every day to protect our users’ accounts and data, and are always investigating additional protections against emerging threats like this one.”

On its website, Apple warns “you’re responsible for maintaining access to your trusted devices and your recovery key. If you lose both of these items, you could be locked out of your account permanently.”

Jeff Pollard, VP and principal analyst at Forrester Research, said the company should offer more customer support options and “ways for Apple users to authenticate so they can reset these settings.”

For now, however, there are a handful of steps users can take to potentially protect themselves from having this happen to them.

Protect the passcode
The first step is protecting the passcode:
An Apple spokesperson told CNN people can use Face ID or Touch ID when unlocking their phone in public to avoid revealing their passcode to anyone who might be watching.

Users can also set up a longer, alphanumeric passcode that’s harder for bad actors to figure out. Device owners should also change the passcode immediately if they believe someone else has seen it.

Screen Time settings
Another step someone could consider is a hack not necessarily endorsed by Apple but one that’s been circulating online. Within an iPhone’s Screen Time setting, which allows guardians to set up restrictions on how kids can use the device, there is the option to set up a secondary password that would be required from any user before they could successfully change an Apple IPhone.

By enabling this, a thief would be prompted for that secondary password before changing an Apple ID password.

Back up phone regularly:
Finally, users can protect themselves by regularly backing up an iPhone – via iCloud or iTunes – so data can be recovered in the case an iPhone is stolen. At the same time, users may want to consider storing important photos or other sensitive files and data in another cloud service, such as Google Photos, Microsoft OneDrive, Amazon Photos or Dropbox.

This won’t stop a bad actor from gaining access to the device, but it should limit some of the fallout if it ever should happen.

THE Ondo State first female Speaker, Hon Jumoke Akindele Ajulo, has recently delivered her first child at 54. It was gathered through congratulatory messages that thronged her social media page that the politician has given birth to a bundle of joy.

It was gathered that the speaker gave birth on Saturday. She represented Okitipupa Constituency 1 and was elected Speaker between May 2014 and March 2017.

THE private jet used to secretly move Hudu Yunusa-Ari, the embattled Residential Electoral Commissioner in Adamawa State out of Yola, the state capital after he illegally declared Aisha ‘Binani’ Dahiru, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as governor-elect, is owned by the vice-presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Datti Baba-Ahmed, SaharaReporters has gathered in an exclusive news on Sunday.

The Adamawa governorship supplementary election was conducted on Saturday following the declaration of the March 18 poll as inconclusive over alleged irregularities.

While the results from the supplementary election were yet to be completely announced, Yunusa-Ari declared Binani as the winner.

INEC subsequently declared the announcement null and void and summoned the REC to its Headquarters in Abuja.

SaharaReporters recently reported how Yunusa-Ari was flown to Abuja from Yola immediately after announcing Binani as the winner of the election.

He was flown out of Yola in the private jet with registration number – (NG) 5N-IKO at exactly 12.58 pm last Sunday, shortly after he made the announcement, and touched down in Abuja at exactly 1.38 pm, after flying for 40 minutes.

Further investigations by SaharaReporters revealed that the Raytheon Hawker 800XP has ‘Baze Research and Data Services Limited’ as its registered owner.

Baze Research and Data Services Limited is owned by Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, the Labour Party Vice-Presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections.

The jet was manufactured in 2001 by Raytheon Aircraft Company.

In 2022, the aircraft which was registered in the United States as N927AR and operated by MC Avio LLC, Boca Raton FL, was sold to Baba-Ahmed.

The registration code 5N-IKO was subsequently assigned to the aircraft after it was acquired by the Labour Party Vice-Presidential candidate on September 20, 2022.

Speaking to SaharaReporters, an aviation source confirmed Datti Baba-Ahmed as the owner of the private jet.

He added that the aircraft was used by Labour Party chieftains including its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and his wife, Margaret during electioneering.

SaharaReporters also gathered that the Raytheon Hawker 800XP was the private jet Obi claimed he hired to fly an elderly man whose flight from Asaba to Abuja was cancelled and rescheduled.

The Labour Party Presidential Candidate was recently seen in a viral video taking a 95-year-old man whose flight to Abuja was cancelled to a private jet.

“Unknown to many, Obi was travelling in the same private jet - 5N-IKO owned by Datti to the same Abuja; it wasn’t that the jet was arranged specifically for the man, he only joined Obi on the flight to Abuja.

“This same jet 5N-IKO was used to move the Adamawa REC, though it was chartered for the man. It’s owned by no other person but Datti Baba-Ahmed. The Labour Party Chieftains are aware of this, Datti used that same jet throughout the campaign period, moving from one state to the other,” the source said.

We decided to publish this video to correct the ugly trend  of get-rich quick syndrome of reaping where one did not sow that is pervading the land.

What is amazing in this story was that an elderly 'Prophetess' putting a biro in the hand of an 8-day-old baby on the day of his naming ceremony and praying,
"Nigeria is not good, when you use a biro to add 16 zeros to a figure it will amount to millions of Naira (She called the baby's name) and said,
"I decree into your life, among those who will be using biro to loot Nigerian treasury, heaven  counts you among them.".

The guests were surprised because the prayer was unusual, they felt reluctant to say amen, the woman repeated the prayer several times forcing them to say 'amen'. 


This is where we are today in Nigeria, this is a country where we were told there is institutions for Yahoo Boys and Yahoo Parents Associations, though we have not been able to confirm the authenticity as at the time of filing this report but one cannot be in doubt considering gluttony for money at all costs in Nigeria of today.

The authority needs to caution this woman against decreeing evil into the lives of innocent babies.

She must have done what she did in innocence without thinking of the implications in the life the little baby in the nearest future.

This is the story of a widow who was accused of conspiring with her family to kill her husband.

Her rebuttal was given prominence on the Facebook Page of Mr Kudaisi Shola.

Kudaisi decided to share the widow's side of the story  of the alleged murder of her husband to hear her side of the incident.

Barr. Abasiesebanga Ikoiwak who is standing trial at an Uyo High Court with some of her family members for the alleged murder of her husband narrates her own side of the story.


The Story:

I Did Not Kill My Husband - Widow of Late Barrister Godwin Ikoiwak
”I do not have a hand in my Late husband’s death and I have no reasons to have killed my husband, we had no quarrels, we had no fights, we even did not have any misunderstanding to have warranted me plotting his death. If I know of or be a part of anything that led to my husband’s death, may God punish me, may God make me run mad.
My Late Husband worked in Uyo, while I work in Calabar. We only interchange visits. My husband who visited us last Christmas, left me with the kids and returned to Uyo on the 7th of January, 2022. Following his return to Uyo, my husband and I maintained cordial and effective communications over the telephone.

Few days preceding the murky day of his demise, I sent my late husband a N500 Naira recharge card after he jokingly said, you women don’t always give. He received the recharge unit with appreciation and teasingly he said, “after now, you will look for a way to get the recharge card back from me”.

Thus, we played over the telephone and of course, we were used to cracking jokes about every little thing. Those conversations are verifiable as they took place over our cellphones.
In the early hours of the morning breaking Thursday, 20th January, 2022, I had a call from my Husband who told me he was not feeling fine. Suspecting asthmatic attack as my late husband had asthma which are usually very fierce and threatening whenever the attack comes, I assured him that I will be heading to Uyo to attend to him at day break. From what my late husband told me, he was asthmatic from tender age, a medical history that is with the deceased’s family but which they have refused to inform members of the public about.

I had barely entered Akwa Ibom enroute Uyo, when I got a call from my husband’s phone but this time, it was a strange voice who after identifying me asked me to come over to St. Lukes Hospital, Anua in Uyo, stating that my husband was there.

Being so directed, I headed straight to Anua but to my greatest shock, on arrival at Anua, I found my husband already dead and lying at the Casualty Section of the hospital.

I was frightened, shocked and confused beyond words. I was motionless and lose my coordination, strength failed me, not knowing what to say or do or even where to go to, I didn’t know who to turn to. I managed to ask some questions as to how my husband got there and what happened to but there was no response.

I searched for the man who used my husband’s phone to call me, but couldn’t find him again. Initially, I had thought that the caller was a Doctor as he was also the person who led me to where the remains of my husband was when I arrived the hospital but when I managed to put myself together a bit, I asked for the man’s whereabouts but he was nowhere to be found. The entire episode was and it is still like a dream. To even make matters worse, family of my late husband decided to add to my pains by lying to world that I had hands in the death of my husband.

My husband and I have been married since 2017 and the marriage is blessed with two kids the second of which was barely six months old at the time of my husbands’ demise.

I had nothing against my husband when he was alive, neither did he have anything against me. All the story you are hearing or reading on the social media portraying me as one who had trouble marriage or as one capable of or actually killing or as having masterminded the dead of my husband are cooked up lies and concoctions maliciously and desperately weaved together by family of the deceased in expression and demonstration of unjustifiable hatred for me and in order to dispossess me and my children of anything they believe their brother and son left behind.
In demonstration of their unremitting wickedness, they also went to my Village and arrested my aged and sick mother alleging that she also has hands in the death of my husband. As though, they have not done enough, they found ways of robing in my elder brothers alleging that they assisted me in attacking and killing my husband.

Meanwhile, my brothers are very responsible and gainfully engaged men who work and live independently with their respective families outside the state. My said brothers have never lived with me or with the deceased.
It is very heartless that they then turned their attention to my innocent aged mother who loves and cherished the deceased as her own son. They raised false and denigrating allegations against my mother who herself is a poor widow, got her arrested and continued to persecute my family without a cause.
How can any right-thinking person imagine me killing my own husband and father of my children, so as to be a widow and shoulder the arduous responsibility of catering for the family alone. When it was not easy with both parents, could it be easier with one?

If, indeed, my husband was killed by anyone, his blood will hunt after his killers and God will bring the perpetrators of this dastardly act to judgement.


My late husband’s family believe that they are very rich, powerful and highly connected people with unfettered access to every tool they need to decimate me and my family and this, they are doing willfully and freely, even when they know that I am innocent of their allegations but my God will vindicate me and all my persecutors shall see shame.
St Luke Hospital, Anua, Uyo, still have not explained to me what happened to my husband, how he got into their hospital and how his case was handled and I also do not understand why the family of my late husband is making me go through so much pain and shame. I need justice for my late husband and I need justice for myself. I want to go home and take care of my two little children as they are all I have left.”

9. Unfriendly friends don't feel bad or remorse when they hurt you. They never apologize rather they are judgmental; always feeling they are right.


10. They rejoice when something bad happens to you. Your pain gives them Joy.


11. Unfriendly friends will never patronize you even if you sell the secrets to Long Life and Prosperity, all because of envy and jealousy.

12. They are happy when you share your secrets with them, because, they are going to use it against you, to blackmail, hurt or betray you without your notice.

Sometimes, your problem is not the Problem; your actual Problem is the person you tell your problem.

THE story you are about to read is the story of a foremost Human Rights Lawyer and an Activist,  Chief Gani Fawehinmi who fought and died for freedom for Nigerian masses. He was detained in agonizing prisons across Nigeria, yet he remained unbowed until he breathe his last.

This piece below under the caption of "What Goes Around Comes Around" was posted by Akparawa Udosen under AKWA Ibom Political Forum Facebook Group in which SOJ WORLDWIDE was an active member.

"Prof. Jubril Aminu was once the VC of University of Maiduguri. During his tenure, there was an Aluta struggle and some students were rusticated.
Four of the rusticated students came to Gani Fawehinmi to challenge the action.

He fought the case to the Supreme Court and won. The students went back to complete their studies.

Later, Gani was arrested over his anti-SAP conference and was flown to Maiduguri, then driven to Gashua. At the Lagos airport, not knowing where he was being taken to by the security men, Gani played a fast one - he told his captors that he wanted to use the toilet.

He got inside the toilet and quickly scribbled on a toilet paper - "To whoever uses this toilet, this is Gani Fawehinmi. I am being flown to an unknown destination by security men. Please, let the world know". He placed it in a conspicuous place, flushed the toilet as if he just used it and came out.

When they got to Maiduguri, they had a brief stop over at the SSS office, where a lady officer offered Gani a cup of coffee.

Gani was hooked on coffee like drug. But this time, the will power of Gani came on. He told the lady officer -"so you people have got information that l can't do without coffee. You think you can poison me? From, today, I stop taking coffee ". That was how he ended his addiction to coffee.

He was later moved to Gashua prison, in a most decrepit cell where he collapsed after some substances were sprayed in the cell.

He was rushed to the University of Maiduguri Teaching hospital. When he regained consciousness, he found a doctor examining him and he protested, asking the doctor not to touch him.


The doctor, not wanting the security men guarding him to hear, he whispered to Gani's ear - "Chief, you are in safe hands. Can't you recognise me? I am....., one of the medical students rusticated whom you fought for our reinstatement. I am now a doctor. So, relax. You are in safe hands".

And that was how Gani's life was saved - reaping from the good deeds he did earlier, which he had forgotten.

The Federal Government has declared Friday, April 21 and Monday, April 24, 2023 as Public Holidays to mark this year’s Eid-Il-Fitri.


The Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, made the announcement on behalf of the federal government in Abuja, on Wednesday.


Eid-Il-Fitr marks the end to the month long Ramadan fast, and the commencement of Shawaal, the 10th month of the Islamic lunar calendar.
