Hmm, It is well with me. Team London VO, AOR Jan 30th. I was 100% sure, my PPR will be out within 3 months. My IELTS score was perfect, no visa refusal, straight forward and well packaged application.

We got our IELTS at one sitting, ECA evaluation within 1 month because we both have masters from UK, POF gathered without much hassle, work reference straight forward.

This is truly a journey of patience. I have cried many times, prayed and rejoiced. Right now, I am standing strong and trying to go on with my life because at some point I was depressed.

Been a challenging year! Hubby and I lost our Jobs early this year. I was lucky to get one soon after. Hubby still struggling. All funds tied to POF which we cant touch. It was a struggle to pay school fees for our kids in April. Infact, we almost didn't send them to school because we were 100% sure of PPR and we even lacked the funds. House rent is due August 2018. We have started toasting the landlord to allow us pay monthly.

Let us all keep being strong, delay is not denial. It will end in praise for us all.

Congratulations to all PPR!
Many things happen that way. Some people just throw in PR applications reluctantly after much persuasion by spouse, and 3-4 months they land PPR mail, even without so much attention to their application documents. Most of them not even ready to move immediately. But some others who are in a hurry would just be delayed and delayed.
Just remove your mind from it, certainly it will come before end of July. The only sure thing is that it will end in praise.

On a lighter note, wetin dey worry those London VOs sef? I think they are from UK and are unhappy that we''ve abandoned them for Canada. grin grin

- Correct. But the only reason you should take this option is if your spouse is not a graduate, or she cannot max out on her IELTS (which she can work on) .

- If she evaluates her degree and writes IELTS she can significantly increase your points. Degree can fetch up to 10 additional points while IELTS can give +20. Infact if your spouse evaluates a bachelors and max out IELTS you would get 2-4points higher then if you had applied alone.

- I advice u to get your spouse to put in the work required else u can go alone and follow the brutal path to sponsorship 12months+ after you arrive. Plus you will raise POF for the whole family irrespective of weather u apply alone.

Cheers
Thanks a lot.
Spouse wouldn't just yield to taking IELTS.

Good day friends. Pls I posted this on the EE thread but got no responses. I guess someone here might have taken this option and could give me insights. Any help?

SolutionsGuy:
Pls, my CRS stands at 430 with the family but if I choose non-accompanying spouse, the CRS jumps to 447 (more like a sure ITA). Without back2back draws, I don't think cut off would come down to 430 any time soon. So I'm most likely going the route of unaccompanied applicant. My questions are:

1. Has anyone successfully got PR here with spouse non-accompanying.?
2. There are claims that the application would be delayed for this reason. Is it true?
3. Am I expected to pay the processing fees for the non accompanying dependants at this time?

I know that POF remains the same, and medicals and PCC are required of them as well. Thanks.

I have been reading a lot of IELTS story but I beg to differ that IELTS are doing this on purpose. How can someone score 8.5,9,8 in LRS and score 6.0 in writing? it happened to a friend...she was devastated and wanted to rewrite but got a trip to USA. I advised her to write it in NY and she followed my advice. Result is out and she got 8.5,9,8.5,8 in LRSW. Lest I forget, she said she didn't have chance to even read again but wrote the exam based on residual knowledge and from her previous study of IELTS. These people are deliberately puncturing scores cause they know the damage 6.0 or 6.5 can do.
Thank you my brother. It's from my friends who wrote IELTS in US and Canada that I knew people who grew up and schooled in Nigeria could actually score between 8 and 9 in Writing and Speaking without extraordinary preparation.
It's very easy to exploit us here in Nigeria, and we usually helplessly accept it in good faith. We bring in prayers to it and coin that IELTS is a 'humbler of men'. grin grin grin

Before we rush to condemn BC and IDP, maybe we should consider the possibility that our writing skills are not as good as we think they are. More often than not, if there is an increase in writing, it is just by 0.5. This means that EOR candidates scores are usually hovering around 6.5 -7.0 thus if the marker marking your script is strict, you get 6.5, if more lenient, you get 7.0. Our aim should be to improve our writing skills significantly that even a strict marker will have no choice but to award at least a 7.0.

....and yes, I agree with the poster that said we might be marked more strictly than IELTS candidates in other countries especially non English speaking countries but I believe this is because in the land of the blind, the one eyed man is king.
Be happy because the bombardments of IDP are yielding results already.
A few people are beginning to report a positive change after EOR, and some others now score up to 8 in Writing.

I read that MOD/IDP have come to Port Harcourt and would be commencing first test on 12th May. You may urgently register if you have prepared. However, I refuse to believe that everybody who takes test with MOD cannot write excellently. Everyone scoring 6.5 and 7 in Writing and EOR hardly turns out favourable. For God's sake who marks the writing part for MOD?

Meanwhile I managed to cross my listening obstacle by making L8 today. grin grin
Thank goodness people are beginning to see with me. I don talk am tire, some even thought we're trying to bring down IDP.
My challenge in IELTS was listening. I made 8 in writing with BC, but as i moved to IDP due to test date availability, my writing came to 7 in two occasions.

Ubenedictus:
you haven't been paying lot of attention to the news.

child sex scandal has been everywhere, in Protestant churches, among Jehovah's witness name them, in the U.S it is said that the amount of sex abuse cases in Protestant churches is even greater.... it has been on a steady rise since the 1970s, the Catholic church just got theirs under control in 2005 and such issues have been on a decline since then.

it isn't even so much a Christian problem as it is a world problem. in 75% of all child sex abuse cases, the offender is a family member, usually the father or uncles etc and most of them are married people another 20 or so % is teachers and couches and such, many of them married.

in fact in child sex abuse cases a married abuser seems as likely to abuse kids as a unmarried person if not even more.

so no, marriage doesn't stop an abuser, he or she will abuse whether married or not. celibacy doesn't create abusers.

it isn't a Protestant vs Catholic problem it is a world problem, for some reason there is a steady rise in abusers both family member, teacher, coach, priest, pastor, married or unmarried.

if an abuser is married it only becomes worse because he will also sexually abuse his kids.
I don't think you have the statistics to back this up, especially the bolded.

Pentecostalism also has its fair share of sex scandals. Marriage is not the solution... I'd suggest you ask God to take away your sexual organs. The Holy Spirit is obviously not working.
Child sex scandals, abuses and cover up have been around Catholic priests worldwide for decades.
It will be childish to start diverting it to Catholicism vs Pentecostalism. No doubt that having wives would minimize it drastically.

In a meaningful society, this offer would be revoked since the beneficiary has confessed that it was influenced.

@Owols, nice analysis and I totally agree with you but with caution. grin

Reasons:
1. The 2018 74,900 projection includes the dependents of the principal applicants (I read it somewhere..whether CIC website, I cant remember) so for every 3500 ITAs issued, I want to believe, the projection will be head-counted for all principal applicants and their dependents.

2. CIC's projections for the year may be for indication purposes only- ie, they may not necessarily fill this quota for many reasons and the touted 2018 figure may just be an immigration "mission statement" for CIC. grin grin (CIC has posited that this figure is a target that they aspire to achieve) To my mind, if they don't make the target, nobody can sue them!

3. Don't let us be quick to forget that the 2018 74,900 figure is to include Federal Skilled Workers Class (that's us), Federal Skilled Trades and Canadian Experience Class.

It will end in praise IJN!
Your analysis looks realistic, although I strongly believe the cut off would drop further.
For me, I am on 432 with spouse accompanying and around 449 non-accompanying. I think it's best for me to enter pool as unaccompanied so as to sponsor family later.

What do you think would be the challenges of this option?
I know we all need medicals, PCC for adults and same POF.

First of all, the money is not yet secured, huh you can only use funds which are accessable.

Secondly, doing this is wrong angry...funds are meant to be used for studies purpose...some people have done this in the past, used their funding to sponsor their family to come over, and then had issues getting the funds when school started and they needed to pay their bills... this is one of the reasons the Canadian student route has become harder for other Nigerians undecided...pls don't increase that negative statistics for those coming behind..

Furthermore, the student visa has not been applied for yet... how confident, in light of the recent rate of student denials, are you of success in that endeavour?

Finally, please let try to do things the right way...its not by how far or how fast this canny journey is secured but by patience and due diligence... there's still so much hurdles to cross ahead...wish you the best..this is my two cents.. wink
Thanks for taking time to talk me through this. You sounded as if it's a very bad intent. Good I asked.

The idea is not to use the fund in sponsoring family. It's to make up POF. Family would come later, as soon as spouse secures job.

In the case of student visa denials, if one succeeds in the PR process, i guess there wont be need for study permit process here.

Not only that it is not compulsory, it is in fact USELESS. It is copied, a duplication and a function of inferiority complex.
We have traditional marriage recognised by God, the law and even the bible. All marriages the bible made reference to are traditional weddings. Then some folks came and said we must wear suits and some useless gowns to the church before God approves our marriages. What a dumb thing.

Good morning family,i need your advise.. We(i n hubby) are currently on 427 because of the age on his passport and transcript. which is one year more than his real age(a silly childish mistake he made during waec)with his actual age we would be on 432. What is the best way to tackle this and claim 432 bearing in mind his next B-Day is a few days away(17th) which will bring our score down to 422 instead of 427 thanks to the error in his secondary school days... . Thanks in advance
Date of birth same on WAEC cert, transcript and passport? My sister, there's nothing to do about it again o. He has to remain that age, perhaps you guys should find other means to increase your CRS score.

Hello everyone,

i need your help ,

i just got admitted into a canadian university for my masters, to resume August 1,2018 and I am at the verge of applying for my permanent residency , i am waiting for IQUAS so i can start. My issue is i dont want to miss the admission so i also have to start the student visa application.

Can i send in the two applications at the same time , or should i do just 1. Then which one should that be ?
I understand your situation. Deferring admission is an option but some people don't really like it as one will lose a year or half. Besides, you may have a funding that is not guaranteed with deferral.

If you have the resources, I read somewhere that "Applying for a Canada study permit and Canadian permanent resident status at the same time is referred to as “dual intent”, and such practice is common and accepted by Canadian immigration law."

Modified: It is clearly stated here and I don't think you have any problem at all.
