If you were asked to choose between these two elective courses, Finite element analysis and reliability engineering which would you choose?
Apparently you are doing subsea engineering. I'll advise you pick reliability engineering because it's applicable in all engineering areas, in fact any good system needs reliability. However, it depends on what you'll eventually do in life. going much into structures and stability calculations, you MAY need FEA.

many could not read the write-up.
CelebritiesWhy You Should Not Compare Linda Ikeji And Seun Osewa by SolutionsGuy(op): 1:21pm On Oct 12, 2014
Over time, I have observed people directly or indirectly trying to compare Linda Ifeoma Ikeji and Oluwaseun Osewa. Many spark off debates in different web places and others will quickly take sides. Some take sides based on tribal sentiments; others do because they are die-hard fans of one or both of them. Seun Osewa is a fine young man (I think under 30 years), Western Nigerian decent, tech guru, and owner of a powerful and influential forum – Nairaland that is ranked No.8 in Nigeria. One of its kind in the continent handling millions of visitors. On the other hand, Linda Ikeji is a 34-year old (averagely beautiful) lady, a failed model (according to Tonto Dike), Eastern Nigerian decent, and owner of a continental front-line blog – Linda Ikeji Blog (LIB) that is ranked No.10 in Nigeria. It also controls millions of followers.

At one time when Linda built/bought a house for (I think) parents, people started comparing their wealth and some started pressuring Seun to make frantic effort in order to increase his revenue through adverts.
Many fans called on Seun to start giving out cash prizes when Linda did her monthly LIB give away (she is still doing so).
At the time Linda bought some expensive car, another debate sparked off on who is richer.
Anything that happens to LIB some people will quickly (often ‘amebo-ishly’) come to report on Nairaland.
Now that Linda Ikeji is recruiting, one person created a thread on Nairaland calling on Seun to do recruitment. Funny! (such a person didn’t even know that Nairaland has many staff already).
And so on . . . .

Whatever the case, I think these are the top reasons why we should not, at any slight opportunity, start making comparison between the two fine fellows.

1. Nairaland is a forum and LIB is a blog. The two are not of the same category and will never be.
2. Linda Ikeji is flashier and flaunts wealth and some personal life. This increases emotions in her fans; making some to love her deeper and others to hate her even more. But Seun is sort of a nerd, or will I say geeky person who hardly reveals status or achievements to public. He is just him and fine with himself. He is an entrepreneur though and apparently more intelligent than Linda.
3. The both of them do not compete (even though their pages may be competing for followers), neither do they compare themselves. They are just two persons that are working hard to be better.
4. They have different vision and mission statements for their web platforms.
5. We should not compare them because each time we do, we simply incite tribal/biased division and many who argue in the debate do not understand and are clueless.
6. They have their fans and are also richer than most of us who sit in their forum/blog making arguments.

But most importantly, you should not compare Linda Ikeji and Seun Osewa because Linda is a lady and Seun is a man. They are just different and cannot be compared.

Can someone with experience post answers to questions like this? It will really help... Am not even sure how to answer them, maybe its got some catch words they are looking for??
For real? And you are a graduate, right?
I think you can develop your answers and be unique, instead of taking cues from other people's created responses. I laughed at this your question, and the person who liked it. Someone has listed expected questions almost verbatim for you and you are asking for answers to behavioural-based interview questions. Hmmmm . . . .
Jobs/VacanciesRe: .. by SolutionsGuy: 3:29pm On Sep 23, 2014
tolutweety: NO.

Not the BHE,
This is an interview for Wireline Field Engineers
You need to brush yourself up on wireline activities (cased/open hole logging, production logging and perforating), info on baker hughes, why you want to join, why you like wireline engineering, etc. I thought that position is for experience.

Please, I am on a tight schedule now. If you haven't got enough info by weekend, I may give more assistance. Thnks
SportsParents In Leo Messi's Hometown Can No Longer Name Their Kids "Messi" by SolutionsGuy(op): 4:50pm On Sep 10, 2014
Parents In Leo Messi's Hometown Can No Longer Name Their Kids "Messi"

In reaction to one Argentine man christening his son "Messi Varela," Mundo Deportivo reports that the city of Rosario has decided to nip any potential trend in the bud by passing a law that prohibits use of the name "Messi" as a first name.

The stated rationale appears to be that using a family name as a first name will cause confusion, especially in the town where Messis come from. You wouldn't want one of Lionel Messi's little cousins going to class having to call some other little boy Messi. Not that Héctor Varela is regretting his choice. From MD: "Varela said he was proud of being 'the first Argentine to put your baby to name the best player in the world'."

Really though, the new law is probably meant to protect their claim as home of the one true Messi. Think of this as Rosario's testament to Leo's greatness: instead of retiring his number, they've retired his name.

FamilyRe: Constant And Severe Headache During Pregnancy: What Solution? by SolutionsGuy(op): 2:11pm On Sep 08, 2014
Thanks! We will work on that.
FamilyConstant And Severe Headache During Pregnancy: What Solution? by SolutionsGuy(op):
Since my sister became pregnant, she has been having this constant and strong headache virtually every single day. She has visited two different hospitals but no way out. In her antenatal place, she’s been tested for malaria, typhoid, etc but no trace of typhoid that could cause such headache. She was treated for malaria still the headache persists. The doctors and midwives said it is not a common case, and as far as I can see, they have not solved it. Another doctor thinks it is lack of blood, so she started taking blood capsules twice a day for over two weeks yet no way. She also eats fruits and vegetable all the time and looks fresh too but this headache won't stop . . . It disturbs me so much!

Please, who has experienced such, or has a solution for this? It’s her first and in the fourth month.

Any more opinions? Pls advise!
Jobs/VacanciesRe: AOS Orwell Vs Indigenous MWD/LWD Company by SolutionsGuy(op): 4:43pm On Sep 04, 2014
majekdom2: AOS Orwell is a company of choice when it comes to indigenous players. They are the leading indigenous oil service company in nigeria. In terms of career progression he would have the best. They got more clients and contracts. They are pretty well organized. Only indigenous company I know of that recruits on merit and match upto multinationals in terms of organizational structure. My advice is for him to stay. As for the salary package , what these companies do these days is to first present a low amount in you offer but within a year , you could have a boost more than 3 times. They just want to know who is in because of the pay or because of the job responsibilities itself.
Thank you very much majekdom2!
Jobs/VacanciesAOS Orwell Vs Indigenous MWD/LWD Company by SolutionsGuy(op): 2:51pm On Sep 04, 2014
My younger brother, an electrical engineering graduate has been working for like 9 months with an indigenous drilling service company (MWD/LWD/Survey). He is a trainee but has not really gone to field up to 4 times because they don’t really have much clients. There is technically nothing to show in his current job (no better pay for now, not gaining enough experience, no formal training, no other allowance, etc). Now he is being offered a position for trainee engineer (process control/Instrumentation) with AOS Orwell. From my search, AOS is a big company with numerous clients. Please given about the same salary, which one should be better for him?
In terms of career progression, opportunities, long term fulfillment. I really do not know anyone working with AOS.

NB: He applied through Nairaland here and has been following a thread on it until the forum was attacked and the thread lost.

Nairaland GeneralRe: Nairaland Is Back!!! by SolutionsGuy: 12:28pm On Jun 27, 2014
Thank God this is back.

But I think there were lapses on Nairaland's side. I was of the view that we have top programmers. I'm not a programmer but from indications, it appears the last major backup of this forum was January 10/11. Even my computers I back them up every week because you don't know who is after you.

Now a quick question, Seun or Mods, do we recreate all out threads that we remember or is there a hope of further recovery soon??
SportsRe: FIFA Ballon D'or: Who Is Your Favourite? by SolutionsGuy(op): 10:56pm On Jan 10, 2014
Full and complete analysis will bring Messi ahead of Ronaldo. Consider how many goals by penalty, records broken, and that Portugal couldn't even qualify directly for WC but by playoff.
However, I remain #Team_Ribery. For packing all available trophies and an aggressive winger.
SportsRe: FIFA Ballon D'or: Who Is Your Favourite? by SolutionsGuy(op): 8:22am On Jan 10, 2014
Apparently people are so engrossed in CAF Awards . . . sorry Mikel!
SportsFIFA Ballon D'or: Who Is Your Favourite? by SolutionsGuy(op):
FIFA Ballon d’Or Award comes up 13th January. Three super stars are the last men standing from whom only one will emerge winner for the male category. The three players are very good with all their national teams qualified for 2014 World Cup. Cristiano Ronaldo was a super sensation during the World Cup playoff for Europe but many fans quickly forgot that if the performance was so spectacular, Portugal would not have found themselves in playoff after finishing second in the group (behind Russia). Franck Ribery’s France was also in playoff in which they triumphed over Ukraine. However, Messi’s Argentina was the first South American team to qualify (Brazil is the host, hence not part of qualifiers).

In clubs, Ribery’s Bayern Munich won all three trophies it played in Germany as well as the UEFA Super Club and FIFA Club World Cup in 2012/2013. Messi’s Barcelona succeeded in winning La Liga and Supercopa de Espana in 2012/13. While Ronaldo’s Real Madrid could not lay hands on any trophy in 2012/13 season.

In terms of goals scored in the period under review, Messi and Ronaldo have performed superlatively, leaving Ribery who is a winger far behind.

After all these, my personal favourite is Franck Henry Pierre Ribéry. #TEAM_RIBERY#

Below is what FIFA has got to say:

CRISTIANO RONALDO
2013 proved to be another goal-drenched year for Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese star helped himself to 34 of them in the 2012/13 Liga season, a haul beaten only by Lionel Messi’s 45, and scored a hatful more in Europe and for his national team. Always on top form for Real Madrid and Portugal, the flying forward, who won the FIFA World Player award in 2008, is only gaining in stature with Los Merengues, and it came as no surprise when he extended his contract with the club to 2018 and said he was considering staying put for the rest of his career.

Lionel MESSI
Since winning an unprecedented fourth consecutive FIFA Ballon d’Or the Barcelona ace has showed no sign whatsoever of letting up, topping the La Liga’s scoring charts as his side made off with the 2012/13 league title. Messi has been just as prolific on the international front, finishing the South American qualifiers for the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™ as the second-highest marksman. With a third world finals to look forward to next year, the 26-year-old attacking wizard is bearing downing fast on another record, as he seeks to become the highest goalscorer in the history of the UEFA Champions League.

Franck RIBERY
Frustration reigned for Franck Ribery in 2012 as Bayern Munich finished runners-up in the Bundesliga, German Cup and UEFA Champions League, but the dangerous France winger did not have to wait long to exorcise the memory. Operating at a different level since those disappointments, he helped his side win all three competitions in 2013, adding the UEFA Super Cup for good measure. Moreover, he has also shone brighter for Les Bleus in recent times, becoming a more convincing and decisive performer on the international stage. Reputed for his mesmerising dribbles, precise shooting ability, and explosive acceleration, those qualities could well keep Bayern on top at home and abroad and inspire France to force their way back into the limelight – just as they convinced UEFA to crown him the Best Player in Europe in 2013.
