The Nigerian pidgin to my understanding is not the only language to have same question - answer structure. Don't know for other tongues, but the Igbo language also adopts same structure in both oral and written forms.

Good job you're doing with this page I must write. However, I have to plead that for every thread that'll make the front page, please allow it to generate a little steam from the car enthusiasts in the car talk section. That way, educative and enlightening topics (and commentators) are spared the barrage of ignorance and insults that plague most Nairaland topics. Many enlightening threads have died prematurely as a result of serious derailments. I would be grateful if I'll be so obliged. Thanks.
Music/RadioRe: J Martins Vs Flavour: Who Sings Better? by Somatic(m): 2:32pm On Nov 16, 2012
J. Martins for me.. His songs are for paparazzis..

Flavour is equally good, but his song appeals to Ashawos more..
Odunnu: J Martinz anytime.
Which of Flavor's song can you sing in front of your parents?
If he isnt extolling an Ashawo, he is begging to 'tinye ife na ife gi' or ukwu nwanyi owerri. Flavor is annoying jor
I'm with both Okija and Odunnu on this 1. Though both have different approaches to music, most of J Martins songs can b listened to and sang by virtually anyone, anywhere. Buh try singing Flavor's ashawo in a bank, then you'll know how far a la stares that kill. Again J Martins songs TO ME have longer play life than flavor's. So J Martins takes it for me.

avicky: Abi oh, i wonder o. I personally don't throw things out of a moving vehicle, mine or a public vehicle, so is it not civil to leave d wrappers & all sorts in d vehicle trashhuh
Just thinking aloud.
And how many vehicles have you seen with trash cans as standard? Again, why carry things that will constitute trash into someone's vehicle(private or commercial) and intend to leave it there? Does the vehicle look like a dumpster? Will you clean it for him/her? Simply get to your destination and dispose of your trash. Your type are the reason people refuse to give lifts.
Car TalkRe: Annoying Things Passengers Do? by Somatic(m): 9:29pm On Nov 10, 2012
Gracious10: Erm, this is a faceless Forum and believe me some people owns better cars than whatever he thinks he owns. So pls enough of the rich talk crap.

When you genuinely help people, there is an inner gratifying PEACE that follows. If you lack this peace, and all you feel is anger, intolerance within you at the point of helping others, then you haven't done a thing. You might as well never do it. The act of HELP isn't conducive, it must take something from you. Your money, comfort, time. But the ability to do this with joy regardless of the inconveniences is where the blessing lies. That fulfilment is priceless.

So if this OP is really this pissed at people he helps, then he might as well not do it at all. And there are very polite ways to correct people rather than put up a mean face and worse of all REGRET that he helped a fellow human. If he's this unhappy yet helps them, I personally call it pretence and its not a genuine component of HELP.

I get people can be ill mannered, the ability to politely correct them even in a playful way will help, while you retain the joy of helping others. But I insist OP get pinch body cheesy
Please when and where did you read the OP mention his aversion to giving rides or helping others? Do you know how many he has helped in various means on and off Nairaland? Yes giving is gratifying and leaves one with a sense of peace. However what if the recipient's gesture leaves you with a sour taste. Where is now the priceless peace? Even pretences have their limits.

You also mentioned correcting politely. Now knowing how badly humans this side of the planet react to corrections, won't any attempt at it backfire on the owner and the "because he manage give me lift for him jaguda car, I nor go hear word" scenario will play out leading to strained relations with its attendant demerits all ontop ya own moto O. So like a helper that he is, he has to endure the obvious discomfort to attain your kind of peace and contentment abi? That he came to voice his reservations on a faceless forum instead of lashing out on the offending passenger shows he's endured a lot and you call him 'pinch body', may God help you. I still maintain, offer rides if you're able to. Cheers.
Car TalkRe: Annoying Things Passengers Do? by Somatic(m): 11:13am On Nov 10, 2012
And I forgot to mention the texters in your car. This one applies to the young ones like myself. Imagine giving someone a ride that lasts for say 45mins (add hold up and stuff) and you barely exchange less than 5 sentences throughout the trip. The person just whips up his/her BlackBerry and begins to chat away. Any attempt at small talk is seen as unwanted distraction as they only look up to make sure you haven't passed their destination. People who do lifts apart from the kindness of it also do it for the company home. So what do I gain if I'm totally ignored in my own car? Nada. Same thing goes wirh the talkative. I still remain a lift advocate. If you're able to, please give one. Cheers.
Car TalkRe: Annoying Things Passengers Do? by Somatic(m): 11:00am On Nov 10, 2012
Ikenna351: Jesus Christ once entered a Temple in Jerusalem and didn't like what he saw people doing in his father's house (which is considers his as well). In anger, he drove them all out, while knocking down their tables over. Guess what he used to achieve that? WHIP! I bet he wasn't smilling at them with that horrible looking whip. He must have flogged HELL out of them, for the money changers money to have scattered all over the place. You can help yourself with John 2:13-22, if you doubt me.

Like someone has noted, social behaviour. That what it is. My Parents did a good job in raising me to value the little i have, respect people's belonging or privacy. Yes, i value my car that much to take good care of it. All i could see in this thread i started, from responses, is degree of poor parental upbringing in this part of the world.

For those that claimed that i dont even have a car. Guess what? I not only have a car, but have two cars. Yes, not just two mere cars, but two powerful V6s. God saw how i was treating the first one and gave me the second one. So if that pains you, you can go hit your head hard on the walls, and see if that makes you feel better.

For the low IQs that fail to understand my post, go back and read it. Or rather, let me help you:

Paragragh 1: What was my point there? Office gossip. I don't do that stuff. So for you to harrass me with that the little space i have till i get home, its my problem. When you are narrating a useless story to a driver who doesn't respond to you, what does that tell you? Ain't interested and shut the fvck up!

Paragragh 2: Somebody you give lift frequently, but he makes it a routine to always start calling or making calls from the departure to the destination, you call that lack of tolerance? Am the type of fellow that puts on my stereo as soon as the engine starts running till i get to my destination, and it helps to keep my sanity from madness people do on the road and call driving. How the HELL will i listen or enjoy that music everytime am driving back home to work, when you are always on the phone, meaning i will have to reduce the volume to lowest that i wont even hear a thing? Most times, i just switched off the radio completely, rather than the music wasting, and you call that what? Displeasing myself in my car to please you every blessed day? You must be kidding me!

Paragragh 3: Slamming doors. I bet some of you here criticizing my post do not know the effect of slamming doors. I own two Peugeots and the worst thing you can do to a Peugeot is to slam the door. It kills their inner and outer door catchers. And for modern Peugeots with BSI system, slamming the door could (most times will) trigger on the car immobilizer and the car will never start again. Thats how the security of their cars are designed. In such situation, you will end up towing the car to a place you will spend thousands of naira to get the car started again. So you want me to tolerate that because someone lack manners of how to use something that doesnt belong to him/her, because you are not the one to pay when your action damages something? After all, "SORRY" is what you will only offer.

Paragragh 5: Fiddling with my stereo. The mood iam in while on the steering wheel, determines the type of music i would want to listen to. I need my cool while am behind that wheel, not you the passenger. You dont choose the music for me. So dont touch that damn radio!

I took my time to explain my post to those who have low IQ and those who have no idea what it takes to keep a car on the road, not just owing one. Like Jesus Christ did, dont take his fathers (which is his too) property for granted. There was a rule against that property: respect yourself while you are in it and dont turn it into a market place. And so its mine. I dont care how you treat yours. But my Car, my rules!

Ikenna.
Spot on. I have this neighbor who has a long litany of rules when you get into his car, his children inclusive. Dosen't mean he's a prude, buh not everyone has a carefree mentality. And I can categorically tell you that all his vehicles look like they've just been bought, despite the long years of use.
Now I've experienced to a large extent what the poster mentioned and its disheartening to say the least. imagine picking up a talkative, and not even an interesting one for that matter, or an itinerant caller, or one that fiddles with your car controls. The door slammers are another thing entirely. Asides the fear of your doors being damaged, you also run the risk of take home headache. Is it fair?
Car TalkRe: Did You Memorise Your Car Plate Number? by Somatic(m): 6:56pm On Oct 13, 2012
I know all the license plate numbers of my dads official vehicles (main and pilot) from the old 3FGN to the FG...BO. Surprisingly, I don't remember the plate number of my mother's cars. She herself barely knows the make and model of her cars besides the colors. When I was younger, I enjoyed a laugh at her expense when she was called to repark. Imagine the church knowing your vehicle while the supposed owners had no clue. *Still laughing at the thought*

Siena: How often do you see your pilot, before take-off?
Help me ask him and others like him who think that planes are them Night buses where they know and are even friends with the driver(and conductor) of the vehicle they intend to board beforehand.
To all them 'I no go fly with her' wey full NL, Biko, read the text well and put your Etisalat 10MB to good use éh.
She's certified to fly a certain designation of aircraft and it is certainly not a passenger plane. Wait till she becomes a commercial pilot then you all can take night bus to Luxembourg if yhu want.

Yes nau. It happens when a plane enters an air pothole at high speed. Nigerian skies are like the roads. Full of potholes. Enter aero and yhu will experience better.
Car TalkRe: The 2012 Toyota Camry - Hit Or Miss? by Somatic(m): 12:39am On Aug 17, 2012
Exterior: Miss. Looks too much like a corolla or one of these Subarus. Ugly with misplaced chrome. No 'federal' presence.
Interior: Hit. Massive upgrade from the bland and starkly plastic 2007-2011 interior even on the LE models. Has a luxurious feel to it.
Imho, save the interior, this may just be another big?for nothing. The interlude that makes one appreciate the older model whilst expecting something better from Toyota.

FamilyRe: Can You Live In Ur Father In Law's House????? by Somatic(m): 7:15pm On Apr 22, 2012
kurus: No insult meant, but if you were a father/mother and your daugther got married, and her family is moving into a town where you have an empty apartment, would you not insist they stay in the house? Why would you even be asking the question?

@poster, if it was your own father who owned the building, would you come and ask us in NL if you should stay in your own father's house? The real question is not whether you should stay in your FIL house; the real question is "would you stay in the house of someone who would, either be a trouble to you, or who would give you peace in the house". I help rephrased your question because, if the poster has a very troublesome father(I mean no disrespect please, this is just hypothetical), would you want to put in your family in that house, even though the man is your father?

Pride goeth before a fall. The man has offered; accept the offer, even if you are as rich as dangote. That rent money you will save, you can use it for other things, from giving it to your MIL, to buying your FIL something he likes to even buying land for your children(if you have). Your FIL will be quite happy knowing he has helped his daughter and her family.

My 2 cents
Add my one cent to yours please.
