Depends on your prevalent culture and circumstance of the "kpekusing" at the time. While some cultures approve incorporation into the family, others starkly denounce it. Finding which side of the divide your culture leans towards is getting the answer to your question and not Nairaland.

Camry 2010 2011 was calm and mature, the new design makes it look childishly aggressive

For me, two vehicles did bad

1. Pathfinder
I prefer the box, sturdy feel of the 2006 to the curvy newer version.
The former felt more balanced on the road with more prestige

2. Rav4
God forbid me to criticize the newer Rav4 but if you cut off the front of the newer version and fix it on the 2008 version, that would be my ideal car
I prefer the back design of the 2008

Very right on the Pathfinder. New model looks more like a minivan or a station wagon than an SUV. For the Camry, Toyota nailed it with the 2007-11 Camry and then redeemed themselves with the 2018 model. The models in between are big for nothing rmx and a design best suited for the continuation of the Carina series.

Somatic - thanks, what I'm trying to specifically find out is if the black plastic panels on the bestline doors and front panels once removed will i be able to have the doors fully panel beaten and painted or if when removed they leave an indentation. I guess they can as they must be standard doors underneath the plastic panels.

I know i can change the bumpers and mirrors etc, its just the side panels.
i will look for a bestline to inspect

You should be able to. I reckon at worst,a number of small screw holes which any panel beater should be able to fill or patch out.

Asking all the 504 gurus out there :

Can the black plastic lower side panels that run along the doors and front wing panel on a 504 bestline be removed and can the doors and front wing panels then be painted when they are removed ? i am assuming there will be holes that will need filling in.

Can the front and rear bumper on a 504 bestline be changed to the older chrome ones and if so can the two front indicators that are inside the bumper on the bestline be relocated into the front panel under the headlights like the older model ?

Thanks for all the feedback to come grin

Yes. Many bestlines are "upgraded" GL/GR/SR sedans and wagons. So you can downgrade as well as long as you have a competent Panel beater and access to original pre bestline parts.

Better still, there are these types that had plastic bumpers but weren't full bestline. If you come across those, you just need to remove the plastic bumper and replace with the chrome ones, same with mirrors and you're good to go.

I think this build has lost the classy importance and aesthetic feel of the premium brand that Rolls Royce stands for. They should just forget about the SUV and stick to what works for them. The Bentyga looks classy than this attempt, which looks more or less like a Rolls on a heightened Chasis.

If I could afford of, I'd rather a Bentyaga or even the RR Autobiography LWB version. This is just RR in a hurry.

Car Talk / Re: Any Experience With Thermocool Generators (after Sales Repairs) by Somatic(m): 2:31pm On May 05, 2018
GAZZUZZ:
The honda E2500 generator, Bought by my Dad in 1984, was hardly ever used as it was very noisy and heavy, it took 2 individuals to move it from the car garage to the front porch each time it had to be used. It was sparingly used from 1984-1986, not used from 1986-1990.

www.nairaland.com/attachments/6952511_86_jpegd75fc1c7b6210753aedf5f157641950c

from 1991 it came to lagos, and was used intensively in an office on Allen from 1991-1998. And finally brought home for use.

That's when I got my hands on her grin

first problem was it was kept out doors, and didn't fare well with the elements, water got into the fuel tank, got into the electricals.

So I learnt how to clean tank and carburator, learnt how to clean coil.

Sadly I was not trained at any of this, and I guess I set the RPMs to high grin it was not long, engine started smoking, I had watched Uncle jamain ring our 1.3liter nissan prairie (horrible vehicle) and there were left over rings whiched I had kept for no reason.

Nah so I start o!

Open Cylinder head, remove fly wheel, the number of things I destroyed before I got to the crankshaft ehn,
is only God that will forgive me grin

I bought a hand file, and started filing the rings one at a time to bore size, put every thing back, took another day or 2 going to "Turner" blacksmith to re-thread all the bolts and studs that I had damaged started put everything back, and gen did not start, took another day or to for me to figure out how the ignition system worked and how adjusting the coil to low would result in no spark.

Passed that hurdle and the thing started o! No smoke for a few weeks, no oil shortage either, until one day the thing went prrrr ratatatata skibidipapa and boom boom boom engine don knock o! Connecting rod busted grin

Guess I had reversed the piston direction and possibly the connecting rod, and done so much harm to the engine.

Well saved up some more lunch money and headed to pencinima area with the old piston and conrod went to a generator repair shop and I got a shiny new replacement part, got home and installed it, engine ran but was rattling angry

Used a few days to brain storm what next I could do to reduce the rattle, I could see the excessive play on the crankshaft and new if I didn't reduce it, noise would still be there.

Out of the blues, I brought out my hand file and filed in between the mating surface of the connecting rod and it's cap undecided excessive play gone, put every thing back again, started engine, it was quiet, I was proud of my self grin www.nairaland.com/attachments/6952756_screenshot20180410080548_jpeg2bfb636d8fb036f5f21715db79e64878

it is times like this I think back and laugh at some crazy things I did, there a difference between a circle, and an oval shape, the thing lasted for some time maybe 1month, but the smoke was unbearable, and I could not keep up with the oil burn costs, tried new rings, but was unable to do it like the first time with the nissan rings.

Long story short next knock was legendary, and I gave up on trying to salvage the generator.

Saved up more lunch money and other jobs, and for the first time in my life, I headed out to ladipo in the nissan.

Went into a warehouse and after long negotiations, Bought a suzuki engine that I could mate with the electric motor. Installed it, it was much quieter than the noisy honda, but the pulley was bigger and I did not understand the principles of gear ratios, so I could never figure out why with all that speed, I was getting low voltage angry

I got angry and sold the mechanical suzuki part to a vulcaniser down the street, and took the motor to Onyigbo and sold it for 6500 naira, in the 90's that was a lot of money grin I went and bought I better pass my neighbour, I used that gen at home and almost all thru university.

The end.

We still own and run a smaller version of your Honda Generator. Ours is a 1800 but what that thing carries enh, and she's so economical, her full capacity at 4litres could provide power for +/-12 hours no kidding. Her only issue is the noise. My father then used to carry it to the village and he would strenuously power 5 houses in the compound of which one is an 11br duplex. Even now, the gen carries my Mother's house with a poultry and borehole. They don't make strong, efficient generators as them these days. We used to have two but Mom went to have one repaired and forgot the repairman and his shop so we're left with one. She's my recipient for used engine oils and spent spark plugs. Has never been ringed or recoiled even though we've dangerously used her to power very high voltage appliances at times. Trusty old she is.
