5w30 API Sl engine oil for Toyota ended for the model of 2007/8 and from there. they recommended 5w20 or 0w20. Honda has been using 5w20 longer before Toyota did. Our number one problem here is the use of substandard engine oils on our vehicles. Mineral oil does not cause sludge if regularly serviced but there are a lot of negative effects associated with the engine oil being used by ignoring the advice of the manufacturer. The outside temperature does not determine the type of oil a car should use but the oil is factored to the design of the engine. Until recently, all 20w50 oils were API Sl until Mobil introduced xhp API SN. Cepsa was being adulterated because it was an API SN and an 20w50. All cars being used in Nigeria will surely be destroyed by the manner of usage but the time of its destruction lies in the owner's negligence or ability to maintain it. |
Sharmeenator:Total ATF dexron 6 mvlv or use Addinnol Atf dexron 6. The dealer for Addinnol Atf is here on Nairaland. That is your best bet. It was good that you checked before you bought the fake oil. It has been phased out since 2011. |
OluMain:Total mvlv dexron 6 |
OluMain:The recommended oil is atfz1 or Dw1. Oando ATF dexron 3 is advised to be used as a temporary fix like if you are in an emergency and you can't find the real oil, manage the D111 till you get to where you will get the correct oil and drain it out. That means that you can only use it for an emergency but if it is the usual transmission fluid change, use Total mvlv dexron 6 which is suitable for Dw1. |
i wouldnt know about nigerian products but 3 mins that sounds as if the product as petrol in it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LbXnv1XtTLI&ab_channel=ThatCarChannel[/quote You are very correct but the one I use is not the local type. Jensen's engine flush is a 1 litre Engine flush that requires 5 minutes to clean up and it's a once and for all process and you are required to use the right oil after. But some cars are better left to their devises as I once had a situation where the sludge in a car was it's protection. Immediately we flushed the engine, the oil pump was blocked and the engine knocked. For those types of engines, the best way forward is to strip it open and clean out the sludge. The way forward is preventive maintenance. I know for sure that even if you use the conventional oil, service every 3 months or 3000 miles. There was a guy that was always coming over with his Sienna every 2 weeks for oil change. In 2 weeks, he has covered 3500 miles as a transporter whenever he comes, the engine is like brand new. Other motorists were surprised that he was using Q5000 and the engine is like brand new. The major reason for transporters high vehicles failures is because they don't follow the service menu. If you have a car being used for transport, the gear oil should be changed at every 10k miles or there will be transmission failure. All the Siennas used as transport had the failed gear as what made them discard the vehicles . Preventive maintenance is the best remedy for cheaper vehicle maintenance. |

Good. but I will be very cautious about using any flush for 15 minutes. Abro is 3 minutes and destroys the metal in the engine. |
ZIMDRILL:15 minutes for engine flush? Please tell him the type of the flush that he will use |
nakoks:That was why I stated that the alternatives in the market are the saving grace for us. Imagine looking for dia queen for Mitsubishi or Spv1 for Kia. But all these multi vehicle transmission fluids have saved a lot of motorists from destroying the gearboxes. We now have a 9 speed gear oil in the market now |
theoilguy:I am not sure that I am owing you any money. I was advised to let you be and it seems that you are looking for trouble, but I will still ignore your rantings. Please face your oil business. We are discussing transmission fluid and it is beyond your comprehension. Any stalking of my threads will earn you a long suspension |
selfmadeOLX:No one is abusing cars here. None of these oils are produced locally. The Dw1 or Atfz1 was adulterated worldwide and not only in Nigeria. There are multi vehicle transmission fluids made for specific vehicles and they have been proven to be good. The way Honda place guards the integrity of their oils is very high and as such we advise everyone to use the alternatives. Addinnol also has good reviews |
selfmadeOLX:There are alternatives Bros and Total mvlv is one of them. Pureguard, Syngard and even Liqui Moly are better alternatives. |
tuoyo9729:Sienna 1999 requires Dexron 11 or 111. I will advise you to get Mobil 220 for the gear oil and the engine oil is 5w30. A 3.0 engine need better oil and so try and get good synthetic oil for your car. Castrol 5w30 in white gallon will do the magic |
madgoat:Total now sells good ATF in their outlets and they have this particular one Mvlv dexron 6 which is very suitable for Dw1. Dw1 is not dexron 3 but 6 but it is backward compatible with ATF Z1 also. Look for it in big Total outlets |
izang87:He is right. The pressure solenoid is faulty and my advice is to change the gear box as it will be difficult to get a good valve body. Type tiv is still the ideal oil for the transmission |
kennyfem:Vw cars has over four different gear oils for their cars and this is one of the common oils. Let me check more for the right one so that I will not help you to destroy your gear box. |
madprophet:Yes. Very good for your car |
weyreypey:You have revived my passion for the cng. I will be the one that will convert your E320 ? to CNG. Let me dust my boots. |
weyreypey:Bros, I busy o. Search around or let us ask Gazzuzz together. He will find a solution to the idea |
9icetoo:Abi? How is your Acura now? I hope you have found a solution to the sluggish nature? Perhaps this Lpg can help out with the premium fuel wahala |
weyreypey:I have been trying to reach one of the cabbies in Benin but his number is not reachable. What are the savings that will accrue to you and did they tell you how much you will gain per km? If someone brought an Italian company to convert a Mercedes Benz, then let's ask around if your 12 plugs 6 cylinders Benz will not regret the conversion if it is done locally? |
asamwababy:That's what I am talking about. The Audis with injectors complained about the jerking. The Lr3 that was equipped with the Lpg has not been tried but next time it comes over, we will go through with it |
MASTAkiLLAh:That's what was written on the one that came to my workshop. But the mechanic debunked it. |
MASTAkiLLAh:They are not run on gas. There was one that came to my workshop and the mechanic said that it's not running on any gas |
weyreypey:no. check their website. They're the new owners of Mobil petrol stations |
weyreypey:Visco 2000, Mobil xhp. Nipco now has gas equipped stations. But I don't know the particular stations where they do conversion but try their website and you will get better information or take the car to Benin and it will be done instantly. Benin was their pilot project and a lot of taxis who took advantage of it. |
I once did a research in Benin on Audi cars used as Taxis. A lot of the drivers I entered their cabs claimed that it worked well with the carburetor spec of the car but on the injector spec, it is problematic on switch over. They claimed that it jerks most of the time. I later went to Nipco in their Marine Beach office and they were ready for collaboration to show it's effectiveness. I think I should take it seriously now. I recently saw an Lr3 equipped with the gas conversion and whenever it comes around, I will get gas for it and see how it goes. To those yabbing our Eclass, that was the best Mercedes since Agege bread. My E240 zooms to 180kms with no effort, even with the poor engine oil that I was using which finally killed the engine. |
ultrazone:. Addinnol synthetic engine oil |
truthbetold22:I admit that you are very correct. I will leave him to his devises. Thanks for your intervention. I'm out of here. |
seunoj:I understand what you mean. I was not involved in his problem. He assumed that I have another moniker. But the question that was asked was if he was aware that Mobil 1 has oil for Toyota, Honda and Nissan? That was the question and he resorted to abuses. If I am owing him, is it possible to attack him while still owing him or pay him first before attacking his product. I have avoided the thread and all the time he mentioned my name and abuses me and stalking me on any thread I commented on. I have never bought Mobil from him. I once called him for 50 minutes telling him to refrain from his path he has chosen to tread but he never restrained himself. Check all the personal insults and see if his reaction to a simple question asked by helpishere warrants my being dragged into his thread. I'm no longer owing him. I have left all other threads for him but I am going to be on this thread until he answers the simple question asked by helpishere for which he knows nothing about. |
theoilguy:This is the oil I now use. Maybe that’s why you are not happy that I am no longer patronizing your products. The Germans came personally to meet me and introduce the oil . It has passed the test. Even on an 012 Range Rover whose owner forgot to service the car for a year and it did not lose its viscosity neither did the oil reduce. As for my empty workshop, it is always the desire of any workshop to let his workshop to be devoid of cars and so it’s my wish that is being made manifest. Give your customers the spec sheets for the oil that you sell.
|
theoilguy:I have initially kept quiet in all your rantings because you are not matured enough to take my time. You have abused me because I am owing you 50k and ever since you started raining abuses on a business transaction, it means that you have traded the insults for the 50k. I'm not owing you any money. You can drag me to any length but I am not owing you any money and if I take this matter up, you will be the one to pay me. Your oil issue is not my business. If you think that I am helpishere, great. But I am not and I don't need a double moniker. I have always expressed myself as me. I will one day do a review on your oil with the support of ExxonMobil who are already on your trail and once the information is concluded, we will know more about the oil. You and helpishere can go to blazes but don't ADD another formidable opponent to your battles. You are a young man, show your upbringing to the world. |
Weightless:all synthetic. The royal purple engine oil is sold here on Nairaland, Infinity tyres are selling Motul energy. Lubrex is sold here also but their office is at Oba akran at Auto clinik. |
