There is someone selling Royal purple engine oil, he is here on Nairaland. it's a 5w30 API Sl. It is the best deal for Toyota 5w30 cars. Mobilxhp is now API SN which means it can also work with your car if you service it every 3000 miles or 3 months whichever comes first. You can also get Motul energy 8100 API Sl 5w30 and your best bet is buying from established dealers and not those brief case dealers selling Motul. Using a synthetic oil will last for 6 months and your engine will perform very well.

The crux.of the issue with those brand u mentioned is the "ready" availability when one need to service his/her car.
Why do u think mobil xhp has been the oil being used (abused) even when the oil recommend is 5w30.
Mobil xhp was bring used when I bought my car and painfully I had to continue even though heart of heart I want to switch to 5w30. I'm scared to open up the engine for a flush. I'm pretty sure there would be some sludge. The price difference not much btwn xhp and 5w30.
I just service my car usually every 2months or when I have any stop at mechanic.
Though car drives without any issue at all.

You are very correct, the availability is sometimes the problem. It's commonly advised that you should buy a one year supply of engine oil if the availability is restricted. I used to work in a Lube bay and Oil change interval for conventional oil is 3 months or 3000 miles and from my observations, hardly no sludge. But the engine is systematically being destroyed when using the oil that is not recommended for the car. It's like being warned that the use of low octane fuel will eventually destroy your engine, no matter how good you maintain the car, the engine will surely go south.

I'm here o. This oil shortage wahala is much of a problem. Even getting the right synthetic oil is another thing. I will suggest that we move away from the usually known oils and focus on other good brands like Motul energy 5w30 API Sl sold by infinity tyres, Royal purple is sold here on Nairaland which is also an API Sl, or the German Addinnol 5w30 which is also 5w30 with energy conserving. Lubrex has a new oil in town that's energy conserving too and it's 5w30. I happened to come across Favoil 5w30 but I have not yet received the other gallon to analyze it's efficacy. There's also Infinity lubricant which claimed that it exceeds the specifications. We used it on a Corolla 2 weeks ago and we are yet to get feedback. For those using Toyota cars 5w30, focus on the API Sl energy conserving gasoline engine oil only type of oil. It will never short. Even though the newer oils are backward compatible, use the oil recommended for your car.

if it is cvt, use cvt transmission fluid and if it is dw1, use Total mvlv dexron 6. I will recommend Addinnol CVT fluid.

Hello bros. My mechanic used oando dex ii for my 2003 mdx. It selected all gears initially but later restricted to gear 2 with delayed shifts. Its not also bringing up any transmission error code according to him. Any idea on the cause sir?

I didn't want to respond to your question but since you have been told what has happened to your car by allowing wrong use of the oil, go and change the gear. I have it on authority that Oando dex 11 is the fastest selling oil in the country, I don't know whether to sympathize with you or not. Please use the right oil all the time. if your mechanic recommend an oil that is not suitable for your car, run from him.

I am not an advocate for 20w50. I used it on my range rover and it destroyed my car when I was working with Oando.

I know of someone who is silently selling his Royal purple engine oil and he is not making a single noise, and you know that royal purple is higher in all indices than castrol and Mobil. This morning, I decided to test the adaptive cruise control in a Range Rover supercharged and I was impressed. I have tried the cruise control on the express way on many occasions over the years and the first time was in 1996 in a Benz 380 SEL. I set the cruise control on 200 km and I told my self that today na today on Fribourg Vevey express in Switzerland. It was fun. Now an adaptive cruise control is equipped in all supercharged Range Rovers but fear was the inhibiting factor until today when I tried it. It was superb. It stops on it's own even in city traffic.

Final answer and choice is Gazzuzz. Gmech will be if he is only a mechanic, but he is into all things. His delivery business is Gazzuzz and his Delta name is Gazzuzz. So my final choice is Gazzuzz.

Mobil 1 local is made for fuel and Diesel cars while the Mobil 1 US is for gasoline engine only. So if your car states that you should use gasoline engine oil only, go for the US spec but while I was using Mobil 1 US, I recall that they have specific engine oil for Honda, Toyota and Nissan cars only. Because you can't use extended performance on a Toyota, it's not meant for it. We have also Mobil 1 US for Mercedes Benz 0w40 and so it is not every Mobil 1 that is good for your car. The Nigerian Mobil 1 0w40 is petrol and Diesel while the US is for gasoline engine only. It's good for people to ask questions about the oil we use because mechanics like me are not really happy that easily avoidable errors will make a car owner to spend millions to fix a car destroyed by engine oil. * I also don't want to believe that your 2009 Sienna will be asking for 5w30. It is either 5w20 or 0w20

Issues for today and tomorrow. Your engine oil. We want to inform everyone using oils manufactured in Nigeria that they are not approved for range rover brand of vehicles. I'm not selling engine oil and therefore I am not demarketing other brands. Toyota is the first manufacturer that has disqualified Total, Mobil,Forte, Oando and MRS engine oil. Their first criteria for the oil suitable for their cars is that they must be gasoline engine oil only and energy or resource conserving. None of these oil marketers sell gasoline only engine oil locally and neither are they energy conserving. 5w30 engine oil is the highest grade being sold by these companies and we are now on 0w20 since 2008 for Toyota, Ford, Honda and a lot of vehicles. Why are we still using these oils when they are not suitable for our cars. I am agonizing this morning because there are two range rovers that we are fixing right now because of the engine oil that was used. One is a 2012 that the local mechanic used Conoil 20w50 and another 2014 that they used Mobil 1 local on. These oils are not necessary for these engines. Let us use the recommended oil for our cars. Be always vigilant about the oil being used on your car by mechanics as you will be the one to bring out the money to restore your car back. The dw1 is scarce in the market and what happened to atfz1 is also happening to the dw1. Total mvlv is a better alternative as it has a 100 percent chance of not being adulterated.
