Haaa the kazeems were here. But the temperature you said tends to overheating, does it cross the middle or it fluctuates? The reason why I am asking is that if the fan is permanently fitted, the temperature can never get to the middle. It stays below the middle. That means your fan is failing. What oil are you using? If the fan cannot hold down the temperature of the car, then you are using these mineral oils for an engine that requires the best oil. |
[quote for Nigeria, I would advice 5w30 over 5w20. my brother inlaw switched from Mobil 0w20 to MRS 5w40 when his 06 accord started shorting oil when the mileage reached 150k km[/quote]Is there still oil shortage with MRS? If the mobil does not work, he should change to other brands. I have unimark 5w20 that I use and it is the best that i have seen. Quiet, and long lasting |
thebigkendo: |
dollarnaira:From the chart, you can see that 5w30 is all weather, whether it is snow of hot sun, 5w30 is the oil to use and there are sequence to follow like 10w30 but you cant use 20w50 . |
Good quality engine flush are everywhere. It is the price that determines the availability |
nurey:Yes, that was the oil. The best dexron iii from Europe then. The MRS version is not the same quality as that of Texaco. They used to sell it side by side then. The wrapper used on the texaco atf can even buy the dexron iii produced by MRS. I will use this week to find out more on the synthetic oil of Mrs synthetic |
dollarnaira:No. The oil was made for those that want an alternative but as at 1999 honda baby boy recommends 5w20 sj for their cars and even uptill 2006, Toyota recommended 5w30 api sl for their engines. Like Mobil stated, poor Nigerians needs to be assisted with obsolete oils for their cars. The crazy thing now is that people are using Total q5000 api sl on their 17m naira Toyota Corolla. Is that not absurd? I also spoke with an elizade workshop manager and he confirmed it. But on the manual, it is stated that 0w20 oil covers all weather and all countries. I think that there is a conspiracy to destroy these cars for more to be sold. The good thing is that it is only companies that buys these cars and give it to their staff. When I was in Total, two incidents occur. A 2009 corolla was detected to have a defective gear box by rtbriscoe. The car was owned by a Total staff who brought it to me. I only drained the oil and changed the filter and the gear was ok. Another Total staff had an eod which he used total fluide 11d. He drove the car to the bay but the gear refused to select after the service. They started looking for me and we had to repair the gearbox and used our syngard dex 6 which put the car back on the road. He was happy and claimed that he did not know that Total lubricant cannot work on a 2003 EOD. Infact the only 5otal or Oando lubricant that can work on a 2003 EOD as at last year is their brake fluid. Nothing else |
nurey:Honestly I have not seen that oil. The last time I went there, I saw that they sell 20w50 api Sm which was the highest in its category. I will look for the oil. The last time I really fancied that brand was when it was Twxaco. As at 2008, they were the only one selling dexron 111 imported from Belgium. But sadly MR left and abandoned MRS, it is a sad story to tell |
Which Ago? Is it the adulterated diesel that is destroying trucks and cars? |
nurey:Tell them |
I am not against our made in naija oils. In fact we dont have made in naija oils except the visco that you use. These companies have and r and d unit and if I want to provide oil for a market, I should look for the one that will suit the market. Peugeot recommends Total oil but that oil recommended by Peugeot does not exist in Nigeria. So people use the Total oil that is available and it destroys the engines. Toyota USA recommends 0w20 for the engines and for all weather, all weather and you bring it to Naija and use 20w50. Unless you dont trust the manufacturer, then follow your mechanic. I once used Oando SM20w50 api sl on my range rover sport and the wahala I had made Oando staff to admonish me for using that oil. People are buying engines all the time and we have not bothered to find out the root cause. It was PAN engineer that told me to inform people to use Mobil 1 esp for the new generation of Peugeot cars but meanwhile the sticker recommending Total is still on the car. The oils sold by Total in France, it is not available in Nigeria. There are classifications of oil and if you can check Honda and Toyota, they want you to use 0w20. Is it available locally? Why cant Oando produce 0w20 since the current cars requires the oil? It is only recently they brought out 5w30 when even a honda accord 09 requires 5w20. Are they for us or against us? I told Forte oil manager to put a caveat informing motorists the Visco 2000 is an api sl and not suitable for cars above 2004, he said it is not possible. Mobil said that they are selling those oils because Nigerians are poor and they cant afford the right oils for their cars. You did not see me holding a gun to force anyone not to buy obsolete oils but do not say no one told you. |
eherbal:It deletes all the metal that is supposed to protect the engine. To avoid the same wahala, use the right oil for your car |
eherbal:Abro engine flush you mean? Bad choice |
there is holts engine flush and johnsen engine flush. You can get Johnsen on konga or jumia but the engine flush from holts is new in the market and they both last five minutes. If you check the oil after draining, you will find metal particles in the oil after using abro. That brand is a no go area brand for our vehicles. |
When you are above 100kms, the rpm hovers around 2000, that is too low. On the other hand, the speed scenario of 3000 for 80km/h is ok but you need to tell us if your fan has been permanently fixed to run with the engine. |
mosesmora:Bros, engine flush is not to exceed 5 to 10 minutes. |
hentech911:That is true. It happened to us once in abuja. The sludge was the reason the engine was still running. It was thick as grease. Immediately we flushed the car, the engine died. That is a case of poorly maintained cars. I use engine flush all the time and it is a life saver for these engines that the owners happily use the wrong oil to service. The only snag is that there are many bad engine flush in the market that grinds the metal in the engine. I was recently tasked with servicing a fleet of school buses and the previous mechanic was using black oil on the buses. The flush removed all the black oil and cleaned the internal parts of the engine. Engine flush is good but use the good ones but to avoid its use, use the right oil for your car. |
Nice fiction but it does not add up. Proof read the three chapters again and then rephrase the story line again. How can someone meeting foreign investor leave banana island and pass through Agege? Is he meeting them at Abule egba? |
This is a serious puzzle. Let me rest and I will respond later |
Ok. By whatsapp please |
mayor2013:Give me the plug nunber for range rover 2010 supercharged and let me cross reference with NGK and Champion |
Congrats bros and please be good to our cars and our environment. Use the right oil. 5w30 gasoline engines only oil is what you should use. There are many sellers on Nairaland. Dw1 is the Atf recommended as Honda has phased out atfz1 for over 7 years. So if you happen to come across any, swerve to the other lane. |
Go buy engine flush , you dey look for locally made. Na ogakazeem you true true be |
From my interaction with their lube manager, they dont know what they produce because their GM oil specification is for diesel cars while it is not suitable for General motors petrol engines. And from further research, most cars requires oils for gasoline engine |
Adjust the sensor close to the Throttle mouth with a screwdriver with the engine and ac on. Once it stabilizes, tighten the screws and the car will be ok |
OgaKazeem:3500 a bottle . 08098534267 |
Use engine flush. It will remove the sludge and then use 5w30 SJ engine oil. Look for it and if you cant get it, upgrade to API SN 5w30. Gazzuzz will still chop for the money as he will sell you the oil. If he is still doing shakara, get in touch with me and I will buy it from him and add my commission. I sell good engine flush too. One from Holts UK. It looks like engine oil but very good and the other is from the US, Jensen, big and very powerful. They all work for 5 mins and you are good to go |
LeJeun3:Exercise in futility. Diesel engines in the UK for this model will buy a 2010 range sport. Give me for my tow truck business. Dont start what you cant finish. Or look towards mainland Europe like Italy and France or even Switzerland |
Cant you articulate your point without insults? You should be ashamed of youself |
20 years ago, I was at the Geneva Motor Show in Geneve and it was a very beautiful outing as I saw the premiere of the Maybach in 1998. I asked the Mercedes guys there a pertinent question, why are you launching this car when you just launched the new Mercedes S class in 1998. They can never go hand in hand. 20 years down, the question has been justified. I have only seen the Maybach in a showroom in Victoria Island in 2011 and never on the road. They say the Germans make good cars but their strategy for producing two high class models and selling it side by side has not actually worked. I remember that the drivers will be sent to Germany to learn how to operate the equipment in the car before being allowed to drive it. I was wondering that why will a man who pays his driver 50k send his driver to Germany to learn how to drive a car? Will the driver return back after training? That is another story. Before the arrival of the wonderful Range Rover sport in Nigeria in 2005, I paid a visit to Coscharis Showroom and garage in Kirikiri in my capacity as a journalist and our discussions were an eye opener. They were using Mobil 1 0w40 because according to them, there was no Castrol in the country at that time and Landrover or maybe Coscharis decided to use Mobil 1 which was not suitable to be used on the brand. We dont know how those first range rovers and Lr3s fared in the country but at least a brand new car bought in 2005 should still be on the road because we are still importing these cars of the same age into the country. But alas for our oils and then our fuel, because we just migrated to unleaded fuel. They told me that the case of blocked catalyst has reduced since the phasing out of the leaded fuel. Now we find some guys using 20w50 on their Range and they will blame their mechanics but the reality is that they are pleased with the cheap maintenance and in the long run destroy the wonderful rides. Make I rest. We shall be talking about the Range Rover on out TV show autoxpat on dstv 255 MITV. Every Sunday for the whole month of April. Join us.

olumidazz:Your supercharged is equipped with a dynamic response that gives it the ability to perform optimally whenever it goes through corners. It is equipped with a pump which has to be oiled and the filter changed periodically. Always check the oil can on the passenger side. It has the same can look alike with the power steering can. |
