Awareness!!!!! Many people still go see doctors like they are going to consult the oracle. They don't understand that they also play a role in their health. A few weeks back, A young man of about 19-20 was caught raping an 8 year old girl. He had tied her hands and covered her mouth to prevent her from screaming. It was discovered that this had been happening for a while but the girl was afraid to tell due to the man's threats. The girl spent 4 days at the hospital after the incident.

A little background: This young man came from the village to stay with his relations in Lagos (after highschool) who were helping him find his feet in Lagos. He took advantage of their child. The girl's mum was a working mum who was not always home.

No consequences: What really upset me is the fact that there was no consequences for this man's actions. He was simply sent back to the village. An extremely soft landing.. This is probably because he was a relation but that is ridiculous.

What makes it worse, is that the boy's mother is saying the the boy would not 'do it again' and should be accepted back. Do they even understand the seriousness of the act??

I was really angry when i heard about this. These people are from the same area as me.

Parents need to be extra vigilant as there are monsters out there.

Report it to the police anonymously. It's the least you could do. I cannot have this kind of information and sleep at night. REPORT IT. Let the man and the child's parents smell the inside of a jail cell.
