How had is it to child proof your house. Batteries are very dangerous. If you cannot keep your 9 month old from batteries then you have a real problem. The child is not even running around yet. What are you going to do then? This is not a laughing matter.
FamilyRe: Why Do Men Find It Difficult To Apologise? by soulglo: 1:32am On Feb 11, 2015
I know women who find it hard to apologize. I haven't dealt with this issue personally but I'd like to know how men are so skilled at following a conversation and insert "yes" and "absolutely" when necessary and when you ask them about it a week later they look at you like you just grew an extra eye. Seriouslyhuhhuh You responded and yet you were not listening?

You can bring it up. Get an idea of how much they know or what they think of what they saw. Don't feed them more than they need to know. Walking in on mommy and daddy making love is not the worst thing in the world. For a teenager, it might be a serious ewww moment grin but for children that young, it should be discussed to the level that they seem interested in. They do not need to know that mommy was worshipping at the alter grin grin grin

I don't see a picture but she's a skinny woman and she likes it that way. In fact in her world it is impossible to be too skinny. The skinnier the better. Her cancer was caught in the very early stages. She's well by God's grace.
FamilyRe: Child Molestation - I Was Molested Twice As A Kid by soulglo: 3:38am On Feb 10, 2015
I remember a couple of years ago a male Nigerian artist had talked about his sexual abuse as a child at the hands of their maid. The guy got laughed at on social media. He was called everything from a punk to a liar. It was sad to read that. Sexual abuse regardless of the gender will leave scars. May God protect our children
FamilyRe: My Experience Growing Up In Single Parent Family. by soulglo: 3:33am On Feb 10, 2015
If you cannot raise someone's child why marry someone who has children. The ones I find impossible to understand are those who have children of their own but yet maltreat the children of the person they claim to love. I'm glad you got through it. The thought of adults mistreating children just always makes me angry.

FamilyRe: What Is The Best Thing To Do When Your Newly Married Wife Says No To You On Bed? by soulglo: 7:53pm On Feb 09, 2015
Bottom line is her excuse is her excuse. There's really nothing you can do about it. That's why communication is key in a relationship. If she's not well or tired then what more do you want? The only thing you should be doing is asking yourself the questions that only you know the answers to. Is she doing it a lot? Do you feel that she is making up these excuses? Does she work long hours? Is she pregnant and dealing with fatigue? Are there other underlying issues? This is were you need to have a conversation and not guess what might really be going on. If you are feeling neglected by her then open your mouth and tell her that you feel neglected in that department.

Who is raising these kids these days in Nigeria? Why does a 16 year old have a boyfriend? Where did she get the acid? I cannot even fathom how a 16 year old could plan out such a cruel act. 16 year old girl and penis have no business with each other. She's old enough to be tried as an adult. Lock her up and throw away the key because she's a menace to society.

Women!

APGA better go and take advantage, shebi na chicken them dey share?
It has nothing to do with women. It is a problem with the system. Did he kill the chicken out of spite or was it an accident? If he did it out of spite then there should be very real consequences. A young child that age killing animals out of anger can end up killing humans. What would have been better would have been to put him in a place were he could get help in dealing with his emotions normally and putting him in a group home would be a better option than jail or "remand home". I would still like to know where his parents are as nothing was said about them. Ultimately, even the parents should do the right thing and make sure a child gets the message loud and clear that killing anything because you are angry will not be tolerated.

Not that way. What I mean is this.
If the man continously continue to bring d babymama topic up, she should ask him things like"whats d problem, pls, it's d past and we shouldn't be dwelling on it again.
Also d way u r painting this lady will make me tranfer aggression to her child which I know u won't like, or jokingly r u sure u still don't hv a thing for her? I'm suspecting u o!
There r many ways she can send her message across.
If I were her, I will telll him categorically that I don't have an ish with d lady so she can't be my enemy. If they like they should continue to be in malice but as for me,i will get close to her bc of the baby. Simple. Let him start digesting that as early as possible.
Where I will be concerned if if he threatens to stop me or quit if I should go ahead.
Then I will know that something is wrong somewhere and find my way.
I also feel that she's jealous of the ex and its that anger she's transferring to the child. She has basically drawn a line. Me agains his woman. Her child against my children. She sees the woman and the child as a threat. Why she even wants this relationship blows my mind

which one is Nigerian perspective? Nigerian wives are hardworking and industrious Biko . Many break their backs to support their families from trading to professional jobs and what have you.

Thing is it is easy for a man to throw his wife out and enjoy all she contributed to with his new sissie who doesn't know the effort behind the accumulation of such assets. The wife will either have to take it or leave or if she has superior might, fight for her rights which in most cases she won't even get her accurate due.

The ranting by the males is because they are not used to a fair system which gives the wife her due share of the family belongings. They'd rather have it the way they are used.

If I came from Mars ,I'd think women don't work and support their families from the hyped 'everything the man worked for' being bandied around.
At least one of those women was not NIgerian. There was a Senegalese woman who was even pregnant. The man wrapped his hands around his pregnant wife's neck and squeezed it until she was dead. Imagine. Maybe some of his "Nigeria" rubbed of on her and she started to act like a Nigerian woman and as such deserved to be killed.

Good evening house.

Please I have a big challenge on my hands. A male teen that looks up to me so much has confided in me that he is always depressed for no reason and that he has creepy suicidal thoughts. These were his exact words: "An average day for me is in depression, the strange/unusual day for me is when I get a bit excited...." I know it is a general characteristic of melancholic people to be depressed, but I need help on how to help this young man live with this psychological condition, especially since he's counting on my help..
Is he in Nigeria? He needs to see his GP who can give him a referral to a someone who could help him. If he is in the US then he is covered under his parents health insurance and insurance usually pays for therapy or medication he might need. Please do not put it off. Where ever he is, he will need professional help. There are people here who have shared stories of how medication has helped them and they live in Nigeria. Do a search in the health section. There's hope.

mutter:
Wait she left something very personal on a public forum and babyosisi only used a post on a public forum. She didn't use something she was told in private on a public forum so i don't understand how that was immature.

We all know this is a public forum and if you decide to air out your own dirty laundry there anyone can make a comment and remark on it. Which is why its always best to leave your private life to be just that, private!

What is very personal when the identity of the posters are not disclosed.

So when a woman speaks out about her abuse it is called - airing out her dirty linen.

Good to know!
Next time I advice women to try and endure the abuse and stay in their marriage because abused women do not have any respect I can refer them here. We indeed have a culture of silence.

You see I just find it amazing that it is only women that think that they can hail those stones against me, never got that from any man here.
However you must realize that I am not a teenage who is not in control of her emotions.
I speak out freely about my experiences and hope others can learn from them and also freeing myself of them. I am also not ashamed about it because I did not commit any offense. An offense was committed against me.

Well rape victims, abuse victims you have it now spelt out for you. Keep it to yourself`s and don`t wash your dirty linen in public. Your fellow women don`t like it.
Mutter, you are being hypocritical. You really need to stop. You want rapists to go free because society is harsh? That's essentially what you are saying. I told you I was a victim of sexual assault and that I never felt shame about it. So I was very shocked when I read that the same thing happened to you and yet you still insist that rapist should go free and keep raping. Do you even see why people are frustrated with you. You do not use your experiences to help others but to further victimize them. You will be the type to advice another woman not to report her baby's rape because of what people will say. They'll send that housemaid out of the house and unto another innocent family who will have a child experience the same horror that you and I endured. I know someone in Nigeria who's children all have herpes. They caught a maid doing inappropriate things with one of the kids. I'm willing to bet that those kids got exposed to herpes from her or one of the maids who have full access to the children. Maybe if someone else had reported it before when this maid was inappropriate that she would not have been allowed near kids. Why not use the energy you use to vehemently defend rapists and murderers to fight for a sexual predator registry in Nigeria. You are going about this the wrong way. I personally do not see your sharing as "dirty laundry" and I'll beg the person who said that to apologize. I'm sure she did not mean it. Sometimes it is good for us to share experiences. Someone else might read through this thread and decide that they must report on follow up on any cases of rape they hear about. It takes a lot for an adult to overcome the after effects of rape. Imagine what a child would go through.

I noticed I was influenced by the things I heard about that and I noticed these let the thoughts that I initially shared, start to grow and cross my mind at times.

Purpose of this thread was see other views and see if I could change those negative thoughts in me, that I knew were not good at all and could in the future reflect on my behaviors (god forbid)

So with the help of positive comments from nice people (and not the judging ones) I don't think like that anymore, like how I wrote on the main post and I changed my point of view.

That was my aim.
So you expect me to believe that nobody in your real life ever told you that your thoughts towards this child were evil? I think you came on nairaland hoping that someone would say that it is not unusual to think that way. You have resentful feelings towards a 4 year old child. How much worse could it get? You might not be a monster but you need to be honest with yourself. Some women can love and raise a child that they did not give birth to like their own. Some cannot. You fall under the category of the "cannot". Don't give yourself and this child a life time of misery. If this father loves this child as much as you say, the truth is that you will not be around too much longer because you can only pretend so much. The man loves his child and let's face it, he replaced the child's mother and can replace you too. His child though is going no where. The child is the fixture here. Your first post was honest but then when it gets broken down, you distance yourself from it. If you were already married to him, I would say something different.
