Education / Re: 5 Easy Steps To Insert References In Your Project/ Thesis by souljaboi51(m): 11:12am On Jan 14, 2018
Antarch:
Easier said than done. I've written hundreds of original research papers and dissertations for students in numerous top tier institutions across the world (excluding Nigeria!), and after trying a variety of referencing aids and software, I have since resigned myself to doing it manually. It is more accurate and works better for me that way.

From Harvard to APA, to MLA to Chicago to Oxford and more, I am familiar with all kinds of citation styles. Nonetheless, manual referencing still does it best for me. I have never had any supervisor - even the most finicky of supervisors in the best of schools (even in the UK and Australia where standards tend to be more stringent than the United States and Canada) - mark down or demand modification due to poor or inaccurate referencing for any of my papers.

That said, if you are studying abroad in any of the aforementioned countries, and you need expert assistance with your essays, research papers or dissertation, check out the following thread for more information and contact details....

www.nairaland.com/3221756/studying-abroad-skilled-academic-writer

i also write research for people and i use citethisforme.com been using it since 2014 and it is excellent. all you need to do is to type in the name of the book or article and it searches and loads the reference for u.

Culture / The Death Of Customer Service In Nigeria by souljaboi51(m): 3:56pm On Sep 09, 2017
You walk into a shop, store or office in the UK and the attendant welcomes you with a smile followed typically by “hi, can I help you?” or “hi, you ‘alrigh’?” After the exchange of pleasantries, they proceed to help you with whatever you want. Even the cashiers are very helpful and they
attend to your shopping needs. In USA, they also have a similar pattern and they are quite nice and friendly. I remember when I was in a retail store in USA and I was trying to figure out which coins to pay, (they have so many types and it’s quite confusing) the cashier knew I was struggling and he offered to help me sort out the coins which was very helpful. Such professionalism is not limited to the big shops and stores as even the smaller one-man business also share a similar etiquette. The one man business may not necessarily smile to you but they are more than helpful and would try to assist you, after all, they do need and appreciate your patronage.

In Nigeria however, except for some big or multinational companies (I will come back to that), customer service in Nigeria is a different ball game and is nearly non-existent. I’m not talking about just having a customer service officer or having a customer service team, it is beyond the title that says ‘customer service’. It seems to me that to enjoy good customer service, you have to go to an expensive place because that is where the crème de la crème of the society frequent and the owners cannot afford to have a bad review by its clientele because of the misbehaviour of a staff.

Last year my partner visited Nigeria and we went to a lot of nice places and hotels and one of them was Radisson Blu Anchorage Hotel in Lagos. This hotel is a perfect example of excellent customer service as I was amazed from the security at the gate to the reception and the staff at the restaurant. The staff did their job well and I did tip some of them generously for an excellent job. However, when you think about it, those who can afford such places are usually the big boys and girls of the society but would they be treated the same if they don’t appear rich? I think customer service and ‘eye service’ work hand in hand in Nigeria and I have a perfect example.

During our (my partner and I) tour of Lagos, we visited a popular hotel in Ikeja and it was quite different from Radisson Blu. We got to the reception and a man (looked rich) walked in and the attendants all chorused “welcome to … hotel”. I wondered why they didn’t sing for me (maybe it’s because I don’t look rich). I also remember a story on nairaland (https://www.nairaland.com/3591539/nigerian-man- humiliated-bank- over) of how a customer at a bank was humiliated by the staff and security because they wanted him to vacate his seat for a white
man. I have loads of examples but I can only write a few so as not to bore you. Some say it is eye service but to me it is just outrageous and the list goes on. You walk into businesses and the receptionist is busy eating and not paying attention to you until you call their attention. Some of them will even ask you “from where” instead of “how can I help you”.
Sometimes you go to a shop and after trying to get a bargain for an inflated commodity, the owner of the shop insults you saying “if you no wan buy abeg carry your wahala dey go”. This is rather unfortunate though but that is the Nigeria we know and love. Someone once said it is because Nigerians are naturally rude and they don’t care unless you look wealthy. This may be true but it is
always nice to be treated well when you go out.

The truth is that Customer service is the face of an organisation (from small to multinational) and it is very important front desk personnel or customer service officers to be properly trained to handle people in a proper manner so as to be able to encourage patronage and even referrals. Since my time in Radisson Blu, I still can’t shut up about it. Now that is what excellent customer service does to you.

Kindly share your experience in the comment section.

Good evening my people, its been a while i posted something personally. I have a suggestion to make for job seekers.
1.When you are negotiating your salary with your possible employer, please negotiate your GROSS INCOME( This is your actual take home pay) and not your NET INCOME( This is what they pay before tax and other deduction. Many employers have capitalized on job seekers ignorance on this to pay them peanuts. Please never, i mean never negotiate with your net income in view...I hope this helps.

2. When you are offered a job in writing please read carefully the conditions and all that is attached to it...note some of the hidden clause and possible information that wasn't stated on the appointment letter.Often times, we overlook some salient points and information, after which we come back complaining.

3.A-one-man BUSINESS or company is prone to dishing out some silly actions. So when picking the job be ready to swallow such...knowing that there is no set standards, also learn on your job and prepare to move on.I am saying this from my years of experience and contact with such business owners.

Thanks
you have it mixed up debbie. net is the take home pay while gross is before tax

* Eggs are placed below the soil "with other measures in place".
* Well, it depends on so many variables such as: the type of leaves, the condition of the leaves, the size of the snails, manner of serving them the feed, the available options of feed presented at thesame time and what particular feed you frequently introduced to them before. However, If you wish to improve on their apatie for vegetable consumption, then address the underline remarks stated above. Though, they do well with fruit also.

The AM are big. Over a year old and I give them fresh pawpaw leaves and vegetables as well as fruits but they eat the fruits and don't touch the leaves while the AA (in a different pen) eat anything I give them. They are smaller tho. I acquired them about 2 weeks ago.

This thread was created to showcase my snail farm as away of encouraging the unemployed youths to explore the golden opportunities that lies within, in other to attain financial freedom without having to remain idle "while waiting on their choice employment". And also, to motivate and unveil to the working class the flexibility in snail farming. Thereby making it a very good way of doubling their sources of income. As it often requires most attention in the evenings/night, minimum startup capital, very low morality rate, good return of investment, etc.

Agriculture remains the only way out, most especially in this present economic reality in Nigeria. This is why, going into the agricultural sector will not only make us self-sufficient but to increase income base.

Checkout my snails.

Hello OP, nice work you have here. i have 2 questions, when your AM snails lay eggs, do you bury the eggs or leave it above ground. also mine dont seem to be eating leaves (pawpaw leaves etc) they prefer the fruits. is this normal? thanks

My comments were not sarcasm but objective factual appraisal of the situation. I wold normally not bother coming back to you on this but I feel that you need to know.

1. You think that S/E states are more economically viable than other parts of the country, but taking payment of salaries by states as a yardstick all the 5 S/E states had to be rescued by the FG in 2015 and in 2016. They were not among the few states that could generate enough revenue to pay all workers their wages. So where is the viability.
2. You think people from the S/E residing and making a living in other parts of the country should be identified and counted as South Easterners - now that's ridiculous as you want to eat your cake and have it. Census is meant to count citizens based on where they live not tribes across the country. If you want the count your tribe across Nigeria you can of course go ahead and do it, no problem.
3. You were talking about southern and northern protectorates in history. The former northern protectorate which in land mass covers about 70% of the country and has over 60% of the population is now 19 states. The former Southern protectorate has 17 states. So what is your problem?
sometimes you should let the ignorant be cos thats just what they are. there is no need trying to educate them cos poverty mentality has eaten deep into their system and there is nothing you can do about it. just free them

All i know is that Nnamdi kanu won't/cant't be killed in prison!

There's something u guys(afonja and abokis) don't understand about Nnamdi Kanu.

He doesnt want money!
If he had wanted money, the Federal govt would have gave him bilions in dollars!

But he's a commited young man that has one target/goal!

No matter how long it takes, Nnamdi kanu will come out victorious!!

Nothing good come easy!

I can give u an example, NELSON MANDELA!

how can you compare him with mandela? seriously?
mandela lived in his country and fought for his people. this your so called saviour was living in a different country spewing rubbish. what has he done to develop the east? what meaningful change has he done? if he really wanted to make a difference he should have come home and made a difference and find his way to the government and do the right thing. the country is messed up quite all right but instead of rallying his people to make a difference he is inciting violence and segregation. educate yourself please.

Talbot: Agent May, with the possible exception of my mother, you're the single most intimidating woman I've ever met. We need answers. You can get them.

Even General Talbot is scared of Melinda May.

Currently catching up on season 4 of Agents of SHIELD, they're killing it this season.
