Hello guys, So my younger brother has always been a handy person. After he finished his WAEC in 2013, he did not further his studies but rather went and learnt plumbing. The institute he learnt it from is not a recognized institute so to speak bur he was issued a certificate. He is doing very well as he has worked as contract/full time plumbing staff with several companies. He is presently working with a firm in PH as a full time plumbing staff. We had a discussion and he told me that he would like to get added advanced plumbing certifications to his present certificate as that will afford him the opportunity to be picked for training/oversea by his employer. I have tried to make research on Schools in USA/IRELAND but almost all requires him to write IELTS/TOEFL/GRE and to be honest, I doubt my brother will pass if he writes any of them. He is just not academically inclined whcih was why he did not bother with JAMB and all from the beginning. Please is there any school in either US, IRELAND or any of the Schenghen countries that accept just WAEC for a certificate/diploma course(not undergraduate degree). I would appreciate it if i'm given any pointers. Thank you all.

Ha.. you people's own is good na. My 19month old does not call me anything o. She calls my nephew his name cos that one carries her everywhere. One time, she heard me call her dad baby and that was how she shouted baby throughout that day. It was hilarious grin grin but she has not called me anything, mummy or ma or anything I can remember.

Eby22:
Seriously? my 17 months old calls me Nene. I don't know where he got that from because nobody calls me by that.
I'm yet to take him serious though, because I taught he says something else and it sounds like Nene to my ears.

Properties / Re: General Topic Thread-To Discuss Anything And Everything in Building Construction by spiceeamiee(f): 8:43pm On Jan 24, 2019
Good evening house. So I and my husband started a small building project recently. In fact the foundation just commenced this week and the building contractor who was recommended to us by my brother in law said that people no longer dig foundations to be very deep again, thag what they do is raft foundation. We decided to go with his suggestion as he seems to know what he is doing. However my dad and my father-in-law went to the site and has been bombarding us with calls saying the guy does not know what he is doing and that the house will soon collapse. In fact that the guy needs to dig really deep as the place is slightly water logged. My husband called his friend who is a civil engineer and they friend also confirmed that the raft foundation is what should be done but thag it should be done for 4feet as against the three fee our contractor wanted to do. However the level of calls from my dad and my father in law is worrying. They both have two houses in Lagos each and i know my dad is very knowledgeable about buildings and constructions but he is in his 70s and may not be privy with latest building advancements that why I said let me come and ask the people that can simplify this thing for me. Is digging deep the way to go or is the rafting the way to go? Structure is a one storey building.

I believe they do engage them in activities as the class is fully multi-functional.. and the assignments are not write A-Z or 1-10. Its mainly scribbles and strokes to generally help them gain pen control which i think is part of cognitive development.

Graciouscharis:

Abeg, no vex ooo. What is an 18 months old doing with homework/assignment?

Personally, I will never entertain such. I believe there are a thousand and one activities they can engage the child in to help in cognitive, gross, occupational and speech development of the child not holding pencils and writing.

Lmaoo grin cheesy. We did not do the one for Thursday because frankly i had to make a choice between my sanity and the assignment especially since hubby isn't around to help. When I took her to school yesterday, I just told her teachers thag her assignment was undone, they should add it to the one for weekend abeg.

amorprincesa:
As in eh! Sometimes we do it half way and submit like that cos I will be so tired. Sure her teacher will ask me why soon.

Is this something that happens generally? My baby just started school on Monday and she has come back with two scratches. I called the proprietress just this evening and she said let her ask the teacher. She later called back and said the teacher said she is scratching herself with her nails. I KNOW I trim my baby's nails every weekend as she is one to pinch you at any time so I checked her nails and they were well trimmed. Called the proprietress back and told her I will not accept my baby coming back home with any more scratches. She apologised and said she would personally check the nails of all the babies in reception class tomorrow so now I hope she follows through.

@Liftedhands...happy birthday. More grace to you. Would be need that any mbaise soon so make I go dey save money.

eksbabe:
Hello mums, hope you all had a productive day?
Please oo mums who still have kids in creche or have once had kids in creche, is it normal for kids to come home like everyother day with one scratch or the other on the face? In a week, my son can have his face scratched like twice. I have complained tire, the excuse is “they are mostly boys and they play rough, bla bla bla”.
I know kids’ nails grow long easily but i try to cut my son’s nails as often as possible.
They usually list about 2 kids who always have long nails in the creche and i have said severally that on Fridays they can remind parents to cut their kids’ nails before a new week.
I hope i am not overreacting on this issue, it is a frequent occurence and that is why i am bringing it here.

When did she start? I'm guessing recently. Don't worry, she will adjust. My baby started school on Monday and was throwing serious tantrums when I was about to leave. Same thing yesterday. However immediately I carried her into her class today, this child of mine told me bye bye shocked shocked and started dancing to the nursery rhyme playing on TV. I laughed my ads out cos it was unexpected so don't worry, it would soon be over.

UmmuFarrah:
Plz here I am again, my baby cries a lot at creche and i am sooooo worried about it but people kept saying she will soon be used to it but I swear I am not comfortable..... Plz is there anything I can do to help her calm down. She even had temp today due to excessive crying and she is not as chubby as she was again but I really have to work. I can't stay without working. Help me mamas for God sake, what can I do? cry cry

If you keep listening to people that will tell you how their baby can carry 25kg of water by 10months old and can fly a plane by 11months old, you will have heart attack o. grin cheesy.. My baby had a mouth full of teeth by 8months and did not walk until 14months. Each child will reach their own milestone at their own time. Don't listen to people telling you nonsense and don't put your baby under pressure abeg.

Mamas how una dey? I miss coming here often but life coupled with this belle has not been easy. @eskbabe where are You? Hope pregnancy is being good to you.

Kematee:
[quoMy DD cut her first 2teeth when she was 11month plus. She is having only 4teeth now at 14months plus.
Plz I hope its okay for a baby not to have any teeth in almost 8 months coz I am scared. She is not even showing sign of teething (if there is any). She is crawling and can stand up while holding something. Someone said by this time her baby already had like 8tooth. Op nothing is wrong. Plz answer me ASAP. I beg

First of all, which thieving lab collected 10k5 from you to do ICT? If you have to repeat the test, please locate Clinix lab close to you. It's N2,500.

Secondly, if her blood is tainted, I don't think the pregnancy would have gotten upto 20weeks so I can say relax (a bit).

Also, it is usually advisable to take Rhogam maximum of three times and minimum of two times. I know it's quite expensive but there is a an NGO in Ikeja/Ogba (can't remember the name, please Google them) that gives it to indigents for free or to non-indigents at 15k. Just pay them a visit and they should be able to help.

All the best to you and your wife.

aydot2100:

Good day, it's about this Blood group of a thing, I'm A+ while my wife is A- and she is 20 weeks pregnant.

She had an abortion close to 2 years now and we are not aware of the this blood group thing but now the doctor told us that she will have to do a test now ICT I think and if it's negative, then she's good but if not she will have to take 3 Rhogam injections and per injection is 35k and I'm very rich at the moment.

I had to gather money to pay for the test which is 10k5 and the result of the test will take couple of days to be out.

Pls with your experience, what should we expect from the test and I will need your advice pls, I'm on a hot seat not to talk of my wife.

Thanks in anticipation.

Does she hold things to stand even if her feet is not firmly planted? My Dd used to be like that although she crawled fine just that her feet would not be 100% on the floor and she did not walk on time. We saw an orthopaedic surgeon who recommended some sort of specialised shoe we had to buy from US but before we could even order for it she started walking perfectly and now I long for the days she was not walking. Lol. Anyways what I'm trying to say is see an orthopaedic surgeon for proper diagnosis

Blissfulfruit:

My baby is like this too. You never really know when she would eat and the constant worrying of what to prepare gives me headache. But try August secrets or Baby grubs. I'm sure he would take it. Those are our go to breakfast these days. I add chunks of fruits or mashed bananas and youghurt for extra nutrition. At least I know breakfast and cereal is sorted. It's the other two meals of the day that is a constant yoyo. I hope they outgrow it soon.

eksbabe:
I dont know what to do to this my son to get him to eat. It is always a struggle whenever we are about to feed. It’s like a seasonal thing, we can go a whole month struggling with food and the next he is taking his food willingly. One sure thing however is that, i always chase him when it is meal time.
I am looking to try this August Secret food because i have heard good reviews but i still fear that he will still struggle with it. He does this with all kinds of food ranging from cereals, purees to normal food and swallow sef.
Mums please what can i do to help him eat? I play all kinds of video when it is time to eat and even sing songs but it doesnt seem to work.
He eats at creche but i have never really asked if he takes it willingly.
He has never been a big baby so his weight is just there, not underweight sha. He is 16 months.

All her birthday outfits are now regular sunday clothes cos If I had saved them for any occasion, I would have cried because the three shoes I bought in July here, she can only manage to wear one now. Children's clothing is really big business o. Dm'd some stores on IGand I kept getting 8k,9k, 10k for top and pant fa? I wanted to ask them whether 1500 own no dey but I jejely respected myself grin

Giddyperson:

cheesy Christmas clothes ke. GB is going to repeat her birthday outfit for Christmas cuz I spent a lot of money on that thing and she only wore it for like 2 hours on the day before she got cranky and had to wear a bodysuit. And she would soon outgrow it and what if I never have another baby girl, my money can not just go like that. grin

Ok back to your question. I noticed that there are lots of baby shops on my street, that's where I buy outing clothes. But they are expensive. Most times a pair of anything would cost 5k more or less. Dresses are even worse. Those shops are everywhere really. Baby clothes is lucrative business cheesy

grin grin grin e be like me and you born the same pikin. This is exactly what she does but with happy hour. Finally stumbled on one bottled youghurt that she can't get enough of. Just give her one bottle after dinner and the sleep will be one way so that's what she is taking now.

Giddyperson:
Jay is enjoying. I'd try this with GB maybe it's more filing. To give her Ribena now scares me cuz she's ready to drink 3 packs before she would be happy. Giving her one pack of Ribena is finding trouble. She would finish it, shake the empty pack, fling it and start tantrum.

I have a toddler and a baby on the way with no help. My toddler is in a creche close to the house and the creche owner is really flexible with time. I just make sure to pack an extra feed for her each day cos you never can tell with Lagos traffic. I get so uncomfortable in traffic and my baby is the same way. I can always come down from the bus and take bike but with a baby, its a no no. If you and your hubby's route are the same, you may put your baby in a creche close to your office, otherwise just find one close to home so baby does not go through the stress f traffic and all.

Proudmum:
Good morning mamas, please I need advice. I will be resuming work in less than 2 months. My hubby and I leave house very early to beat Lagos traffic. We don't have househelp yet.. Though we searching and have spent a lot of money on that. Please mamas with more than one child and without househelp, please how did you handle it?
I resigned after I had my first child. It took me 2years to get this present job... I wouldn't want to resign. Please your advice and suggestions would go a long way. Thank you.

OK dear. Check Lateef Adegboyega. There is one just after Soul Centre Bar. Its with Nursery School. I will check the name for you later. Then there is one opposite Bennisant School. I think its called Brighter Future Creche. There are about three more just down that road cos I checked them all when I was looking for one for my baby. The one she goes to is near Dawn Micheal schools. Its called Same Family Haven.
