utomi might mean well. he's coming from a well read politician's point of view.he's probably a good candidate to trust our much needed financial reforms to. but the masses of nigeria are uneducated and dont know who the heck pat utomi is!

another fact is that the so called elite of nigeria (who may know utomi) do not vote. we are too big to queue up under the baking sun and cast a vote. we leave that to the masses who dont seem to mind mind.

in the old days, men were scarce. i mean actually physically scarce!
with all the wars they had to fight, armies of thousands of men went off to war and were slaughtered. The few men left were obliged to marry many women just so the human race could continue.
now we dont have that need. These days when we say men are scarce we kind of mean eligible men are scarce. so dont keep refering to old times when there was polygamy. in new testament God advocates one wife per man.

Men lie a lot too.  I found out I have two additional brothers and one sister at my dad's funeral. He hid that for years from us. If left to me, men would be extinct and Rabbits left to reign supreme,

from people's arguments it seems to me that men's lies are supposed to be easier to forgive no matter how grevious. they just tell us to "move on". when a woman lies heaven is supposed to fall.

which side are you on? are you saying he should end the marriage? what exactly is your point?

Let me tell you something. This guy has every right to be hurt. of course he does. but a wronged party doesnt always have to excercise that power to a divorce. the bible says adultery is a good reason to end a marriage. but even when a spouse cheats as painful as it is it may not be in the best interest of the couple to split because there are children involved.
have they talked? is she repentant? can they move on? if its all yes to these questions then they can forge ahead and let go of bitterness.

besides she may have lied because he's the kind of guy that thinks that if a woman is not educated she's not worthy to be his wife.she may have been scared to lose him. and with good reason too because now it bothers him so much. (thats a whole new angle and fodder for another thread)

no one says she didnt tell a terrible lie. its pretty obvious she did. but us saying he should forgive her and forge ahead and help her acquire the desired education instead doesnt sound like feminism to me.

Its a religious thing not supposed to be included in our constitution given the fact that there are Muslims, Atheists, Animists and Traditionalists.

Some women are seeing it from feminist perspective, but there is also polyandry- one woman -many men. This is practiced in some parts of Nepal and Tibet. I really hate this western concept of telling people what's right and what's wrong. If you were a pagan, would you need western concept of marriage to define your beliefs? On the other hand, if we say that homosexuality is a social aberration, westerners will say that we are primitive and uncivilized.

you are right! you dont need anyone to tell you what should or shouldnt be. your heart tells you. its instinct. no body likes to share! men or women. we just toe the line of "culture dictates" or "religion says". its rammed down our throats!
