Family › Re: Fear Of Accident In My Children by spoilt(f): 8:29pm On Apr 05, 2007
i understand your fears. i have been in 2 accidents and both times i was driving . the first accident landed 2 men in hospital. i was without a scratch but i was traumatized to the point of hysteria. its hard to describe but when i drive now i have anxiety issues. i have panic attacks. i have overtaking anxiety, i have merging anxiety. just name it, i have it.

it will take a while for your children to get over it. but the only way you can reassure them is to be extra extra careful. even if it means you have to crawl to your destination.  grin . put on some music. try to distract them with other stuff. dont know if you are big on theraphy but that might help. you have to pray too. and take it one kilometer at a time. Good luck.  cheesy
Nairaland General › Re: Tell Us About Your Scariest Experience by spoilt(f): 8:18pm On Apr 05, 2007
I was returning from a wedding very late at night with my sisters when we ran out of gas. (we had noticed it was low but had hoped and prayed it would take us home).
The car "quenched" on Apapa oshodi expressway just before coconut bus stop the wrongest place to be stranded at night with all the touts and area boys crawling around in between the trailers parked there.
the driver took a container to walk to the nearest gas station and buy fuel. we waited nervously in the car. the area boys were hovering around when they noticed we were having car troubles and it was just a matter of time before they pounced. i was sweating bullets. i had heard that women were raped there everyday. they would drag you near the edge of the water and gang rape you. my teeth were chattering with fright.

eventually a group of about ten descended on us. they took all our jewellry and bags. we were coming from a wedding so we had on our finest. they almost cut our ear lobes trying to get at the ear rings. they also took the car stereo before running off.
i was scared men! i could smell the alcohol and marijuana on them.it was awful.
im just eternally thankful to jehovah they didnt decide to violate us. that would have been tragic.
luckily the driver got back minutes later with gas so we were able to get away.till date i get nervous when travelling at night. my eyes keep scanning the bushes looking for danger. embarassed
i definitely feel safer in the company of guys. a group of defenceless women will always be taken advantage of. undecided

Culture › Re: Is It Proper To Call Your In-Laws 'Brother', 'Sister'? by spoilt(f): 1:06am On Apr 05, 2007
new wives are supposed to call even the husband's younger relatives "brother". my co-worker when i was back in naija was complaining one morning about this. Her sister- in-law gave her a lashing cos she didnt call a 12 year old "brotha mi". (she's yoruba too but she definitely didnt find it funny).
na wa oh! undecided

Culture › Re: Why Must Nigerians Abroad Marry Nigerians? by spoilt(f): 10:19pm On Apr 04, 2007
But enough of my rambling. I just wanted to address what someone on this post said about "coming home" to your own people, and how I feel it's just not fair for black Americans who really have no "home" to go to, or anywhere where we are not alienated.
@ lanegra
we would really love to welcome african americans to africa and have them affiliate with us but its funny how african americans sometimes think they are better than us africans. some of them think because they have now been completely americanized they can treat us as if we are still savages. how did mohammed ali put it again? "im glad my ancestors didnt miss the boat"? angry
we should be uniting to fight the racism we already have against us!

Seun:
Men that allow their wives to think that way are more trouble. If you can't put your wife first, stay single.

Romance › Re: What To Do With A Cheating Boyfriend? by spoilt(f): 9:09pm On Apr 04, 2007
If only some of you self righteous and know-it-all women really knew what your
own men do or can do, I am sure you will be a bit more hesitant to say throw him out
the door considering how much (time) you may have invested in the relationship. Its
always easy to advise someone to go for the jugular when its not your issue.
@ iyke- d

you cant take action on what you dont know. but how can you sit and a goat is eating the palm fronds of your chieftaincy cap and you do nothing?  shocked

forget time invested. thats what guys always use to blackmail girls into staying in bad relationships!  angry.
they havent married he has already cheated thrice.thrice? abeg she has forgiven enough. it has come to the part where she's now playing FOOL. even peter was contrite after denying Jesus thrice. her man is still sharping mouth. abeg jare!
Family › Re: Still Bearing Your Maiden Name After Marriage? by spoilt(f): 8:56pm On Apr 04, 2007
