Actually to be fair the Koran says they can marry more than one up to 4 if the man can provide for them and treat them all equally.
@babyosisi
yeah it says that and men have always claimed they can treat women equally. equal treatment is not just about equal upkeep money its also about equal love (which just isnt possible)
Culture › Re: Your Views On Polygamy? by spoilt(f): 12:29am On Apr 02, 2007
why on earth are the women there?

why did they consent to the marriage in the first place? or were they taken in a police car to the place?

why can't some women understand that their decency and self-esteem is more important that whatever money they're after( because some of them don't mind being second wives because the guy is RICH)
@cute-ass
some women dont have a choice. if you are born into the muslim religion it is rammed down your throat. in order to be seen as a good woman you have to pretend to be supportive of the new "ameria" coming in and help arrange the marriage sef. they dont have a choice. their religion says its ok 4 a man to have up to 4 wives. so what can they do?  undecided a change in religion is out of the question!  shocked

polygamy has not been able to curb promiscous men. no matter how many wives he has a primiscous man will still stray outside the home. so what's the point in tying so many women in a hellish marriage when the aim is defeated? huh

if men are going to be allowed polygamy then women should equally be allowed polyandry. all the arguements men give for marrying plenty women should be the excuse women can use to many plenty plenty men too. last time i checked, what is sauce for the gander is sauce for the goose too. abi? equal law for all folks!

At least divorce rate in Nigeria is lower than what’s obtainable in the west. So I believe that a polygamist or polyandrist can love their family.
@adconline
divorce rate is lower because culturally we dont encourage divorce.(think what it'll do to the precious family name) shocked
unhappy couples are almost obliged to stay together no matter what their differences are which sometimes isnt the best thing to do. e.g in the case of domestic abuse.

thats just by the way sha but i had to chip it in. grin

i do believe that if you truly have a calling to a profession (no matter how crazy the hours are) you just would be unable to switch professions and do something else.
my friend was born to be a doctor. (some kids just know wht they want to do right from age 5!) well she's a doctor now with crazy shifts. the hours are long and excrutiating.she's always on call. but she could never not be a doctor. grin
but the key is how you spend the hours you have when not working. when she's outside the hospital, she's home cooking , doesnt go out much and barely answers anyone's calls.she says its time to tackle the home front.
its not easy but what can one do? huh

davidylan:
Marry a medical doctor! Have two kids and take turns taking care of the home front! grin
That would be the dream marriage.

Marry a teacher ke? She wont have the faintest clue what my job is all about.
two people with 2 different occupations can make a marriage work. you marry for love not according to profession. as you get to know someone you better understand his or her job and what they do. any by the way, teachers arent that daft! they are often under estimated!
Romance › Re: Guys like girls with skimpy dresses and tight trousers, but they won't marry them by spoilt(f): 7:30am On Apr 01, 2007
irritated my foot! they stare and almost hold up traffik. Other girls see the attention scantily dressed girls get and feel they have to dress the same way to be appreciated.
