Nah I disagree. You cannot tell a high line from a set piece. The PK was from a set piece and Cedric fouled Son at the byline. Has nothing to do with a high line. The second goal was from a corner kick (Saka was fouled by the way) and after a flick, Harry Kane was at the back post to head it in. Nothing to do with high line as well. If you want to see a high line watch how Son got in behind Dias and Matip when Spurs played City and Liverpool. They had no single one v one chance against you guys because Arteta took that away from them. Their crucial goals came from a dodgy penalty and a corner kick.

Holding had no business starting that game in my opinion when White was healthy. He struggled to keep up with Son and besides, you never ask your CB to man mark a player because it is very dangerous. You ask one of your midfielders to do the job of man-marking and that is part of where Arteta exposed his inexperience.

Once Conte saw Arteta’s decision to use one of his CBs, worsestill the weaker of the 2 to man-mark his skilled attacker, he pretty much asked that all balls go through Son because it was an easy matchup! You don’t do that. You don’t ask your CBs to man mark, everyone should know this. If your CBs must man-mark that means one of your full back has to invert or your DM falls into the open position because of the movement. Son was just moving Holding all around the pitch, brining him higher and higher up the pitch to chop fouls, remove him from his position, took him to areas he was uncomfortable with thus exposing his lack of speed while leaving Gabu exposed.

These are some of the reasons I don’t trust Arteta’s understanding of tactics. He continued with this rubbish despite being 2-0 down without making any adjustments.

It just depends that when we attack the defence moves higher, when we defend even our attackers moves back and defence moves further back and that's what we were doing ystdy(defending deep). And that's also same thing Tottenham was doing before the red card. The only difference was that they were more aggressive which yielded them more turnovers thus more possession. Arsenal ourselves was growing into the game and calming Spurs knowing that Spurs where 3x more aggressive than normal before Holding happened.

The task was simple to Holding — Man Mark Son. Seeing that Tottenham lack runners from Midfield to capitalise on an gap Son might have from dragging holding out of position especially since Tomi already had a hand on Kulu and Elneny and Xhaka was already on Kane anytime he drops deep, it was always a good idea.

But Holding did as if he was never smart to begin with, or maybe the tension of the Nld played its part. He just behaved madly and I was shocked.

Asking Holding to man mark Son is like asking a child to hold a hot piss, pressure will easily give in.

We played the game with our usual tactics but to beat a team that is under pressure to win, your tactics have to change. If it were the other way around I doubt if Spurs will even have a shot on goal. They would have just sat back as they did against Liverpool and City.

The defensive line was high. Note where Holding tackled Son for both yellow cards. The first was near the centre line, the second was after a simple overhead pass just as the ball that caused the PK. I mentioned all these things

I think he is a good player but he couldn't adapt to the system Arteta wants which is to be able to attack as well as defend. And when attacking he should be able to cut in an inverted winger.

Pepe is ideally a support striker (I think I have mentioned it here before).

He is only dangerous when he is in the box, outside the box he is useless. He has poor ball retention and control, poor passing both short and long, poor movement off the ball etc all which negates his good qualities of being a good dribbler and good finisher.

He should be in the box if he must thrive, this is something Arteta cannot give him as it will mean playing two forwards.
