PoliticsRe: I Want Justice Nigerian Policemen Robbed Me At Gunpoint - Help ! by stagger: 8:58pm On Jan 31, 2012
Next time, mark the policeman's face, find out his family members, and exact a hit. I know a policeman it happened to some years back. Got a guy detained and almost paid for it with his life one year later. He was accosted at a drinking joint by the same guy who was now with his homies, and they beat the policeman to an inch of his life.

Any police that messes with me or any of my family members will not go away free. He will lose something he cannot replace. For real!

Wonderful material in what sense? All the guys who are in DMI and DIA currently still doing their work; is Mustapha better than them?

My only regret is that people like that monster Frank Omenka did not join him.

Ajadek,

Was I the one who started the thread?

If you notice, this thread is abt 2 years old. The original poster (Delampy) got the manual and has since started her business. The capital requirements have of course, gone far beyond N500k. If you had taken the time to read every single post in this thread starting from June 21st 2010, you would not open your mouth to be making stupid comments.

My family has been in this biz since the 80s when kerosene was less than 50k a litre. I climbed a petrol tanker for the first time as a 13 year old back then. My first child is over 13 now, so that should give you an idea of how long that is. So I can tell you that you are a small boy where I am.

If you have any thing to post here, post it and stop trying to go personal.

This is part of why I do not like to contribute to these threads. You try to contribute your quota, and an immature Nigerian will just jump in and begin to talk rubbish.

Hey Stagger! You can stagger your way to hell for all I care.
You are just being calous and gloating over people's misfortune as if that your so called business cannot pack up overnight. How will they patronize you with so much hatred in your heart?
How many mouths do you personally feed apart from your immediate family? That's even if you are married.  How many indigent students can thank God that they are in school today because you care.
It is so silly of you not to know in this country that the Banking sector is the single largest employer of both refined and  menial skill in this country.
Have you thought of all the cleaners, security men, drivers, contract staff, and all the support businesses that goes jobless, apart from the core 1,500 graduates for all the Intercontinental branches that is being closed down?
Take your vile to Akingbola and his board that ruined the business if you care, and not to the foot soldiers that were doing their jobs as assigned to them.
You are a very stupid fool!

Has everyone been sacked from the banking industry? It is the deadweight who have been offloaded!

And in case you do not know, there will be more layoffs when the mobile money services come on stream later this year, because there will be no need for all the tellers and bulk counters we presently have.

Anyone who is in banking now and cannot read the writing on the wall to either improve themselves or start a business will only have themselves to blame at the end of the day.

Liberace it was who once said:

"I am smiling all the way to the bank".

When he was reviled by those who hated his lifestyle, he said:

"I am crying all the way to the bank". He was not happy with the criticism, but he was still making his money.

At a point, he said:

"I am no longer smiling or crying to the bank. NOW, I OWN THE BANK!"

So Mr Man, keep abusing me. I am presently smiling all the way to the bank, and very soon, I will own the bank and there is nothing you can do about it. tongue tongue

THIS IS A GROSSLY MISLEADING POST!

I have just had contact with two of my friends who are lecturers and their local branches have voted NO.

It is only by tomorrow that we will know the final tally at the National Executive Meeting.

So how did the OP get his information when the local branches are still meeting? National Exco yet to meet.

And then the moderator now capped it up with the grossly misleading caption on the front page.

STOP SPREADING FALSE INFORMATION AND RAISING PEOPLE'S HOPES BEFORE TIME!

All these people who are asking for him to be released to his family; do you know how many families this man and his cohorts in those days have denied their breadwinners forever?

People like Bagauda Kaltho, Kudirat Abiola, Alfred Rewane? Why do Nigerians have short memories?

While the sack of these 1,500 staffers are terrible enough, more than that is that even the remaining 3000+ has been given a horribly scripted offer letter to sign within one week, or face the revolving door also.
I was with an affected staffer in Church today who told me he is still brooding over the offer letter which puts you under probation as a new staff with slashed salaries and no allowances, and confirmation is already pre-programmed not to happen.
Guys, let's look beyond our hatred for 'bankers'. Some of these guys feed upward of 10 people directly and also most small businesses depend on their patronage to survive.
At the end of the day, we are all in this thing together because it is our economy that is shrinking!
Are bankers the only ones that feed upwards of 10 people directly? People should stop posting such nonsense!

I have never been patronized by bankers in my business and my biz has not collapsed. What makes bankers so special and different from others?

They are operating in a capitalist environment and layoffs after acquisition is a very normal part of that environment. Besides, I understand Tony Elumelu was also a downsized bank staff prior to founding STB. So what is the fuss all about?

Many of these guys will be paid huge severence benefits and Nairaland is brimming with viable business ideas in the Business/Money section. We should have less crying and whining and more application of creative faculties.

This is the same advice I gave to someone I know after he was downsized in 2009. Tried to get some funding for a large-scale diesel supply and this fellow in the typical arrogant style common with bankers, was just talking trash. Months later, was now asking me that if I had any deal on ground, he would be ready to participate. The bloke could not even tell me he was downsized; I had to hear it from his colleague.

So for any banker who is affected, crying or protesting is not the way out. This is the time to start researching into what biz you can start right now. Ask the necessary questions. Make the necessary moves. Compile information so that when you are paid your severence allowance, it will not meet you unprepared!

And for the survivors of this holocaust, well, do not wait until it gets to your turn. If you do not have a business on ground now, open one! Don't use all your upfront money buying cars and all what not!

Enof said abt ur mindless ranting,
Listen here,

In this short life of mine, I have been downsized twice, and the last time around, I quit the job after the pay of all staff was reduced by 20%. For me, who was recently married at the time, that was the last straw.

So I know what it means to be downsized. But with a wife and a young child looking at me, what did I do? Come to Nairaland and cry? Today I am now an employer of labour; without borrowing one kobo from the bank or from anybody, but using God-given tactics.

So stop talking about what tomorrow will bring, because what those bankers experienced, I have experienced since. No be today. They should wake up and take their destiny into their hands.

And forgive my very strong stance; experience has made me hardened.

I believe justice has been done to this topic 2 years back, and I sold a manual to this effect, prepared from information obtained from insiders.

However, I am not selling any manuals here. Much info on this topic abounds here on this forum, and I think the engineer's post is the closest you will get to an accurate description of what it entails, though there are a lot of details he missed out.

I think people should know what it takes to get the Approval to Construct and Approval to Lift papers. The procedures changed when Diezani Allison Madueke became the petroleum minister.

I understand your point but i still feel some sympathy for Nigerian bankers, they don't know any better. If you check my profile post back to 2007/2008, i have been warning bankers to develop other skills cause banking industry is prime to collapse. I was particular about Intercontinental bank because of their sharp practices and bad customer services. Intercontinental bank employees were the worst in the banking industry. They boast and obnoxious, predicted this was coming. I pray they find a way to support their loved ones.
Tell them my brother.

Sometimes you ask yourself:

what is it that makes a servant of the public be so obnoxious in their approach to customers? What is it really? That they work in bank?

Haba mana!

You will even have the benefit of severence pay, and you are still complaining. What about the workers in NITEL, NIPOST and other government parastatals? What of the unpaid pensioners in their 70s and 80s, who are asked to come and queue in the sun for verification? What of the Nigerian Railways Corporation Workers?

Are you bankers better than them? Are you? Your MDs caused people to lose millions in the stock market through their speculative activities. When you operate in an environment where monetary gain is put ahead of human sympathy, this is what you get.

You are a victim of your own system. Go out your skills to work and stop complaining.

@ Stagger

Your response is unfortunate and just like a colleague told me before my name appeared on the sack list. Do not judge as you shall be judged likewise. Let me use this opportunity to disabuse your mind;

1. All Bankers I know wish they were entrepreneurs and never look down on them. Of course you might have encountered some arrogant ones as they abound however due to situations such as these (i.e. sack and all) they actually wish they had their own businesses.

2. As for requesting for loans, the banks have set rules that they follow therefore you need to know each bank's rule before applying for a loan. Some banks cater to just corporate clients eg Zenith and some to retail e.g. former intercontinental Bank and some stay in between.

Lastly, as for tasting the other side of the coin, you are been shortsighted. Do you know how many people depend on bankers? you might not be one but one way or another you might be affected. A lot of entrepreneurs (Cobblers, traders, hair stylist etc) depend on the 'extravagance' of the banking industry and in extension bankers to make money. Therefore, your cynicism s uncalled for.

Just pray that something like this doesn't happen to your close one. I wish I could write more but well,
I have no iota of sympathy for intercontinental bank or any of the workers there. You all were part of the rot that the banking industry degenerated to. You all were there watching your MD Akingbola and his cohorts looting customers' funds to build houses, buy land, buy private jets and live all manner of lascivious lifestyles.

If one of you had blown the whistle to the CBN Inspectorate in charge of banking supervision as far back as 2004 when this whole rubbish started, by now you all would have had your jobs and no one will be talking of acquiring a failing bank and the resultant layoffs that are a SURE spin-off of such exercise.

You bankers are the symbol of capitalism. It is survival of the fittest. You know how capitalism works, yet you complain when you are victims.

I do not even want to talk of some of the shabby customer service I was getting before I closed my account with that bank for good.

So from me, no sympathies whatsoever! You guys should hit the streets like some of us have been doing for years and grind out your living.

Christianity EtcRe: What Pastors Ought To Do With Tithe Money by stagger: 6:04pm On Jan 27, 2012
Stupid fabrication of the story. Even the bible says charity begins at home. Why go to build a school in Mali when there are people starving around you?

That is why my branch of Winners decided on opening a primary and secondary school strictly for orphans and the destitute. They get free books, free uniforms, a conducive learning environment complete with internet connection and computer facilities and free breakfast and lunch.

So when people talk of private jets and Covenant University school fees, I am not fazed because we also do what we do in other ways without making public broadcasts of it.

And I am happy to say that MANY churches also have their own welfare programs too. Those who condemn pastors for being wealthy make deliberate attempts to deceive the public because they never tell you other things that the churches do to make life better for many people. I know many pastors who are paying school fees for several people. I know a pastor who has given IT scholarships to several people. I know another who is running a soup kitchen that feeds 1000 people.

The lesson here: DO WHAT YOU KNOW THAT WILL TAKE YOU TO HEAVEN AND STOP CRITICIZING PASTORS!
