Subsidy removal, bowing to IMF pressure on devaluation, only God knows watelse is in store. Pls u shld tel us another story cos right now Jonathan is being as d messiah sent to us bt Nigerians rejected him
I can guess the two likes for a post that suggest a person contest to be EFCC chairman came from you remaining two monikers.

You are pathetic, whose innovation is BVN, TSA, IPPS? Even deregulation and subsidy removal. Civilized people fight corruption by blocking leakages. GEJ is a civilized man, not a president that will call his citizens criminals and accept that his country is fantastically corrupt on an international media.

You don't worth engaging in a debate.

Once a psycophantic zombie, always hypnotized.

The excess we had from the increase was shared by States (surep)

The indisputable stats remains that Jonathan reduced poverty by 50%, increased middle class by 30% and was instrumental to making Nigeria the highest economy in Africa and 23rd in the world.

Continue trusting Buhari while thousands die of hunger and starvation.
If the IB GEJ did all you wrote there, why was he borrowing to pay salary. You think debt increases net worth of an economy. Going by your argument' i can sense you aren't so mature. So if a man borrows to send his children to good schools and leaves behind huge debt for the children he deserves praise.
Go on and be praising a man who help enslave the unborn generation because of narrow-mindedness.

LadyExcellency:
The only write-up worthy of appreciation or/and reading now should be: Jonathan was right on subsidy removal.

Tell us the flaws of Ojota's sponsored bring-back our subsidy protest.

Condemn every opposition and demonization of Jonathan's administration on Subsidy removal January, 2012.

Blast every anti-deregulation cabal and opposition to Jonathan administration second push to total deregulation when he re-echoed it six months after the previous was defeated.

Do you know that the two challenges that escalated looting in Jonathan's administration was imposed on him? I mean fuel subsidy and Bokoharam. Both anti-deregulation and Bokoharam were sponsored to bring down Jonathan's administration and there they succeeded.

Let's for once appreciate some of the great policies of past administration.
Always rushing to comment half trash half sense. The OP is partially right. The write up didn't take into consideration fact that governors to were opposed to accumulation of funds into the FGs purse due to open looting going on then.
The most glaring difference between 2012 and 2016 removal is trust in leaders. Even if oil sold for $108pb at present, Nigerians would support subsidy removal because they believe the money will be well spent to alleviate their pains.

The worst part is that GEJ raised minimum wage and NYSC allowance as a panacea to the suffering the subsidy might cause, but our dullardiho doesn't give a damn even with the worsening economic condition caused by the dollar hike and still most Nigerians that protested in 2012 finds it hard to even condemn this act...my Hero will live longer than his adversaries wished him.
Your hero increase minimum wage and NYSC allowance but ended up borrowing to pay same salaries and allowances. It shows you GEJ was a bad leader and Buhari inherited a downward moving economy.

Emeskhalifa:
logically, the op is correct. now ask yourself this, in a month how many liter of fuel does a less privileged Nigerians use. even without the corruption, the rich ppl still benefit frm it most
You sound like you are here to just argue for the sake of it. I already point out clearly how it was meant to be a privilege proportional to what is used by all. The rich pay more tax but it isn't considered punitive measure. If the op is right then the best way to structure subsidy will be to give everybody a constant allocation of subsidized fuel thereby leaving big businesses short of it or small businesses having excess.

Now, they are sacrificing both the past, present and future.

Gej wasn't trusted by even governors (APC n PDP). They preferred to share excess fund as it was being looted via phony federal expenses like BH war and so the masses were right to feel the same way and reject subsidy removal which put more money in the hands of the federal govt.
The Jonathan govt didn't show sign of blocking leakages at federal level but wanted to throw more money at the corrupt system, Buhari govt on the other hand showed its readiness to block leakages before going ahead to throw more money at a less corupt system.
The difference is clear.

Politics › Re: Subsidy Removal, the Reality And The Advantages. by Standing5(m):
Sweet thread but I don't entirely agree with OP (Toks2008) . . .
That part where u said it benefited the rich more isn't technical correct.
Subsidy was suppose to be 1 of the few things to help sooth the pains of corruption n help support productivity. It was meant to be a privilege that is proportional to consumption for all. The more you use the more you get.
Why subsidize usage?
It became important to subsidize fuel because it could help sooth the pain of power shortage and lack of good roads. The government couldn't deliver good roads and power to help drive industries and improve welfare so there was need to subsidize something that affects all Nigerians in a fair manner. Petrol was used by all either directly or indirectly and therefore it was subsidized.
Saying subsidy benefitted the rich more is like saying tax collection works against the rich more because the pay more.
