FriendChoice: Buhari and Co are fantastically rounding up their game concerning chibok girls and may be included as one of his achievements within his first year in office. GEJ docility won't let any such argument hold water. Did Buhari also mastermind $2.1b arms fund scam? A dormant EFCC? A last minute approach to tackling BH? While I like to share you sentiment, The above point of weaknesses from GEJ makes it extremely impossible. |

mapet: 1. The moment you lot deal with the fact that Nigerian law says you own nothing below the ground, then you'll have a clearer perspective. 2. Everybody is contributing to the nations coffers in many ways. There is no share beyond 13%, which should have ideally made a massive improvement of ND, but for stealing which one of your leaders say is not corruption 3. There is no dormant region. The only dormancy I see is in thinking and ideology of you lot. Kaduna and Kano are way well developed and may even be better developed than the whole of ND, even without Oil. Their forefathers had laid the structures with their resources before the advent of oil. The last I checked, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa and Rivers gets the largest of the monthly revenue share...... stop feigning ignorance. The farmer up north gets paid by buyers. The man down south whose land has been damaged wouldn't be will allow further exporation in his vicinity. Stop throwing dormant logic about, everybody contributing. When the North provided tin for export thd got ~50% and everybody was motivated to work unlike now. |

Walelavender: So my opinion is a 'trash' to you? Common, tell me what the economy of Nigeria was like before the discovery of oil at Oloibiri. Did Cocoa or cotton exports ring a bell? So agriculture/agricultural produce(cash and crop) aren't nothing to any economic growth again? This laughable Try to be objective and ask countries who don't have oil how they survive on exporting apples(Canada) and coffee(Brazil)whilst their economies aren't doing badly. More trash again. Why compare crop to mineral resources whose extraction renders land useless to farmers? Was cocoa and rubber used to deny the north huge allocation from Tin mining activities? Ask serious questions n stop beating about the bush. |

mapet: ....so the labour of Oil is not paid for and was under duress? How ridiculous can some of you be? The man on whose land you explore hardly gets anything. My point is to motivate contributors to the nation's coffer by giving them a good share of their contribution. The dormant regions are happy to impede the growth of the forward thinking regions with population increase that gives them power to get large share of allocation n dominate decision making process. |

Walelavender: I can't figure out the point you are trying to make. However if a region has taken it upon itself to make most agricultural produce available to other regions whilst others aren't involved in large scale, such a region should be applauded and not this name calling. Each region has got its strengths and weaknesses. Getting food on the table is crucial to a nation development. Don't forget one of the goals of the defunct MDGs #Eradicate poverty and hunger
God bless Nigeria Stop talking trash bros. The north may help retain capital by providing much need alternative to foreign/imported. food stuff. Their lack of contribution of Natural resource is making them parasitic on other people's resource. If every region gets a lion share of her resources, they will all be more productive at all level. |

Walelavender: North 'Parasitic' when you can't get tomatoes again in the market. North 'Parasitic' when the beef in your stew comes from them? Please let's stop these tribal jingoism. Our strength is in our diversity. Let the food produce coming from north to south stop for a week, you will get to know that our relationship has never being parasitic but symbiotic. God bless Nigeria the labour of the tomato farmer was paid for and wasn't under duress. Can you say same for the reverse scenario? |

My fear is that the south keep bringing out her resource for sharing with the North while the North controls the decision making process of whole resource sharing. The North will be happy to remain dormant n feed off the south if it isn't forced to bring significant resource to the table. They can decide to oppose 13% derivation fund or its increase n the south will just be looking on like they are doing in Fulani herdsmen situation. |
Politics › Re: How The Nigerian Government Can Solve The Fuel And Forex Crises by Standing5(m): 3:44am On May 17, 2016 |
What of corruption such as that sustained in such deals during the past regimes? According to Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative, Nigeria lost $966 million to crude oil swap deal between 2009 and 2012. So that’s a real concern and a real threat to this plan. However, this is a new regime which has promised to tackle corruption. Also, the loses aside, this actually worked quite well in the past. But back then, no one was paying attention to back room deals. We are not so oblivious now.
Brilliant piece there. The whole foundation of you proposals is based on the ability of this government to block what were hitherto leakages. If av be thinking it to crude swap with a moderate loss to refiners should entice them towards refining n giving back to us without us having to pay them the increasingly scarce dollar. |

Infact, the entire Nigerian defence budget lies in that neighborhood, and has hardly ever exceeded that amount in any given year.
To say that they collected and shared $2.1b is equivalent to saying that some group of people looted the entire Nigerian defence budget ,,. Which is a boldface LIE.
The NSA, under Dasuki, misappropriated , according to publicly available records, about $322m or so.
Yet, everyday, the propaganda machinery keeps pumping out $2.1b theft. Liar. |
